They were considered one of the Seattle "grunge" bands but their style was more metal than grunge.
If Grunge hadn't been a thing, Alice in Chains would have been considered Heavy metal. I mean they toured with Slayer , Megadeth and Anthrax in the early 90s. This song wouldn't sound out of place on a Metallica album.
The thing is grunge is kind of weird thing because all the bands in the big 4 kind of had their own approach to the genre
Grunge is a scene, not a genre.
Layne was hair metal before
I just pretend that Layne is still alive and life is good.
I still remember the day he died.. Was a rainy day and I was at this little guitar store when I was around 10 or so and we heard about it on the radio playing.
He accurately predictied his death lol. "Rain When I Die Young"
Actually he was found 2 weeks after he actually passed away, so...
Me and my little bro are both HARD into AIC, except I love Rain When I Die and he doesn't; he calls it "Cry When It Rains" lol ;)
Kate Heart Same to me with all deceased grunge musicians.
Layne, Scott, Kurt and now Cornell... the goods always die young
Gean cornell was 50 plus that isn't young
Fahad Zahoor still is quite young and too soon, he didn't get to live a whole life
Don't forget Andrew Wood, who was 24 years old when he OD... Wood was the first big name from the Seattle scene to die.
Mike Starr too
Layne and Kurt were much younger than the other 2 when they died.
The hottest band over the world
man wish this song was longer than 2 mins and a half ain’t enough for me.
Ugh, only Alice in Chains can rock this hard in 2 minutes 32 😱 🤘
indeed! 🙂🔥🔥👌
Cheers from Poland!🙂😉
I agree 120%. A good driving song
man, this vocals, the guitar and bass, and the beauty drums, everything in this song is perfect
"Take another hit and bury your brother..." Rest in Peace my baby brother Jimmy. I'll see you when I get there. "And we die young."
My son requested for me to play this song just now. I feel like a proud dad
Dude that’s awesome this band is awesome
Layne's face has always been as heavy metal as a rosebud and two forget-me-nots: clean and innocent.
That voice, chills everytime I hear him.
I wish this song was about ten times longer
Me too.....one of the best bands of all time!
wouldn’t be the same
Old stories love reapet. No matters how many songs ... Some stuff will never change. LS is the best. Still love this song afrer all these years.
I just love how this transitions so well into Man In The Box on the record.
Facelift is a banger
@@zeemancan3713 It's a pretty different record from the other ones, less moody but still less than upbeat. 🤣 As if it were played with a classic rock attitude, "impartial" and straight to the point.
yep. at the end of the song my brain just automatically starts playing those first few beats of Man in the Box!
Facelift is a biker album
@@Unknown-zn8cg maybe in your world.
Rip Scott, Kurt, and Layne
rip just in bieber
+Devin Tariel How dare you forget Andrew Wood and Ben McMillan! But I forgive you because I know I'm forgetting important people too. But still!!!!!
+Devin Tariel R.I.P. Lemmy and Mike too
and Shannon Hoon
+Zachary Morrison Blind Melon ftw! :3
THat guitar riff is like crunchy delicious popcorn to my ears 🤤
Super fun to play too with that dirty devil-note on the bent chord in dropped D tuning.
I have UA-cam making me watch an ad from McD's before watching this. Exact opposites in reality. Rock on AiC!
There's nothing like facelift. I love that album so much. What I love the most though is Jerry's guitar tone on this album. The opening riff on we die young is so aggressive and just sounds so good.
This was my intro to AIC. Track #1 on Face-lift. That CD wouldn't leave the player in my car for about 9 month afterwards. This is one of their best tracks to this day. Kind of painful to see this video of the healthy, engaging bad ass version of LS that would so quickly fade into darkness. Long love AIC!
Long hair oversized flannel shirts and ripped jeans that's the grunge style.
Dakota Foy except this is Stoner Metal
they looked like poodle metal before grunge got big
U must be thinking of Pearl Jam. No Flannel shirts here . This is pure metal.
@@j-riz7513 nope Alice in chains pearl jam nirvana and sound garden were called the big 4 grunge bands.
@@dakotafoy1996 Alice In Chains where way before the name Grunge was even around. They were more metal then that Alternative sound like Pearl Jam and nirvana . Stone Temple Pilots were Heavier sounding as well. But they came out of California.
First AIC song I've ever listened to, wish me luck on my binge!
Youre in for a treat
@jerrycantrellmusic-id bro why are you pretending to be jerry cantrell🤣🤣🤣
@@jerrycantrellmusic-idbro is maxx schizoposting on this channel
This video is one of the reasons I appreciate being a woman..
Zydrane This is a feast for the eyes, right?!😍😛
Jerry killed that solo!!
Dude was unreal as a vocalist
Can’t believe this song is in cod. Absolutely amazing band and song.
The most beautiful eyes in the world, Layne's eyes for sure!
lesbian
I seriously can not think of a better band then AIC.
Skid Row is pretty good
@@jackiethedetestator7342 No way dude.
Gage Amonette Skid Row is horrible.
@@christar9527 Skid Row is badass as hell.
Black Sabbath
Jerry Cantrell is a HERO, he can make MAGIC with pentatonic solos!!!!!!
The best part of this video is it has all 4 of them up close with the camera and they look AWESOME 😎💯
That guitar tone is absolutely massive, Jerry is the greatest
They are all so beautiful
One of the best bands and best songs and videos of all time.. Hard rock. Layne Staley is literally irreplaceable.
Layne's voice was so amazing!
Especially on September 13 1990
