One of the heaviest riffs ever written. Jerry Cantrell is a genius
yesssir
I'm 54 and grew up on metal. Its good
@@ronnieduwayne9516 haha
You re a tough nut to crack - but give a guy his credit🤣👊🤘🤘🤘
"heaviest riffs ever written"? you will be amazed when you first hear some death metal.
Heck yeah!
One does not simply get enough of Alice In Chains
Kinda like heroin, might not be for everyone, but if it is for you, you cant get enough
T T Alice and Soundgarden are my two favourite grunge bands. Like Nirvana too. Pearl Jam is my least favourite - still a good band, but they don’t have the darkness and misery which is there in SG AIC and nirvana.
straight up
T T those simply are quite the facts 👊🏼💪🏼💯
Like walking into Mordor. It can’t be done
...and that's how you open an album and introduce yourself to the world. One of the best opening tracks of all time. Blew my mind the first time I heard it.
I was just thinking that today when I was listening to this album!
Agree
Fuck yeah!
Yes!! Facts
AbsoLUTELY
What a great bass player Mike Starr was. So underrated and almost forgotten about. His Spector bass growls like a grizzly bear and he plays with an unmistakable groove. Facelift and Dirt are driven by his bass. RIP Mike.
This band is crazy addictive

Like the heroin lane Staley did
Yo I can't get their songs out my head...I'm cleaning dishes 'n shi... suddenly and we die young...👀👹

One of the best guitar tones ever
G&L guitars are works of art.
Jerry is criminally underrated
Sure is......
I fucking agree
Cantrell is one of the last real rockers!
His voice. It just hits ya in the soul. I get goosebumps. Does anyone else get goosebumps?.
🤘
I do
Sure does. This song rips through your veins..
Yes!
It's like the vocals are being ripped out of his throat. My favorite AIC song and it's not even close.
The mere fact this album is in Ozzy Osbourne's top 10 sums up how hard this song rocks. You can so hear one of the main influences behind Ozzy and Zakk Wylde's 90s sound.
I didn’t know that! Now that you say so, it sounds just like an Ozzy song!
I mean sure, but then again, AIC was hugely influenced by Black Sabbath. Full circle I suppose!
Bullshit.
In an interview, the first band out of Lanye’s mouth was “sabbath”
The hair game was strong in this band.
Don't hate them 'cause they're beautiful!....hahaha!
Layne said about Dirt "Oh yeah they dig our hair" when asking about how people were accepting their album. With this he then clarify that yes Rock is hair and we have the best hair.. So clever.
The best in Seattle
Isaac Colon Jerry has the most beautiful hair I've seen on a man. Good thing he's grown it back...
thewelshviper and the beards
Why does nobody ever give Alice In Chains drummer any credit he was amazing
still is too!
He still is, actually.
The drums for bones always killed it for me. Love the way he carries that song.
Totally, I love his energy in this song and generally all of the other ones too. He’s the unsung hero of this band. If I had a dime for every time I saw “Jerry Cantrell is underrated” I’d be rich enough to retire lmao. I think Sean Kinney is genuinely the underrated one!
One of the greatest drum tracks ever is Would?
You don’t listen to Alice In Chains, you feel Alice In Chains!🤘

You absorb AIC
Feel the Groove... Groovy!
A Gen X dude salutes You!!

Jerry is underrated as a guitarist, pretty fucking great, and yeah, Sean pounds the hell outta the drums
True.
+omfug Sean Kinney's a beast, man. What I wouldn't give to see him and Danny Carey play together...I know the footage of Danny playing with Tim Alexander (Primus) is beautiful. Those 2 would be ridiculous.
jerry is far from underrated
Jerry's style is the one I mirror the most as a guitarist. ( I suck) I think everyone has one guitarist that fits their personal style. For me it will always be Jerry. Especially the unplugged album.
Sean's hand was broken for the majority of the Facelift recording sessions, absolute beast
They had it all, the looks, the music, the vocals.
Mike has no business being this cute.
Layne killing it with his style and swagger no one like him

I like both Soundgarden and AIC, also I like Pantera. Greetings from Panamá amigos!
Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains all the way.
Fun Fact. In the swimming pool sequence, where the member are coming up for air...and it appears a plastic sheet it covering their gasps...Its actually a big sheet of clear nylon in the video. The members were actually under the influence the day they shot this. The film crew didn't want any accidents of suffixation. So they ditched the actual plastic...and got the nylon sheets, so they could breathe trough it. They didn't want the members actual suffocating
Awesome
I love this type of shit.
Rock on 🤘🏼
I'm glad you said that - I was thinking I must be getting old, I'm sitting here watching this amazing video and all I can think of is "that looks dangerous" 😂
How ironic...
I was literally just wondering how they got the approval to make this video. Lmao thanks for the info

These guys don't have a bad music album. all their songs are good. and very few groups can achieve it.
I just pretend that Layne is still alive and life is good.
I still remember the day he died.. Was a rainy day and I was at this little guitar store when I was around 10 or so and we heard about it on the radio playing.
He accurately predictied his death lol. "Rain When I Die Young"
Actually he was found 2 weeks after he actually passed away, so...
Me and my little bro are both HARD into AIC, except I love Rain When I Die and he doesn't; he calls it "Cry When It Rains" lol ;)

The distorted face used in their Facelift album was Mike Starr. In this music video, they had to swim under the plastic, rise to the surface and breathe in as they emerged, so the plastic distorted their faces and Mike's captured photo was chosen to be the album cover.
Is the photo in the video?
Actually plastic caused them to panic so they swapped it out with cheese cloth instead. But point taken.

AIC. The metal band it was ok to like in 1992. Saw these guys back in May '91 supporting Megadeth (of all people) and it remains one of the most Rock'n'Roll half hours of my life to this day. They opened with this track and just slayed. Layne still had his dreads and was obviously having fun. Good times. I feel privileged to have been there. 💜🤘

@@THEEtylerhan91 metallica and soundgarden aswell
I'm sure Mega D fans weren't happy...
They were considered one of the Seattle "grunge" bands but their style was more metal than grunge.
If Grunge hadn't been a thing, Alice in Chains would have been considered Heavy metal. I mean they toured with Slayer , Megadeth and Anthrax in the early 90s. This song wouldn't sound out of place on a Metallica album.
The thing is grunge is kind of weird thing because all the bands in the big 4 kind of had their own approach to the genre
Grunge is a scene, not a genre.
Layne was hair metal before
Damn layne looked badass in this video, the cool goatee, long curly hair is his best look I think.
