I stumbled across this video this morning and I'm so glad I did! I ordered all my logos for my business yesterday! I am still working for free because my portrait portfolio is quite bare but I started with Street photography last year and I now know that this where I would love to take my creativity here and I know I still have lots to learn, and much more gear to pick up but what I have right now is amazing and I am getting much more confident in my own craft now. I can see the experimenting phase is starting to fall away and I can now physically see my own style starting to come through! But you're right, I don't feel ready, but I agree with you entirely, its time to start working towards it whether you feel its time or now! A little confidence and how do I get my name out there. With so many photographers in the area how do I stand out? Everything you said hit home. You would not believe how much or should I say how less I charged for my first wedding. I have started to go up on my rates but still struggling in the advertising area. Thank you for the video. ❤️
in my case what stopping me is because i'm dissabled, i bought my canon eos r about 2 months ago, and i love it, i i'm still learning of course, i went to universidad for telecomunicaciones, but it was many years ago, imagine how long, that it was when recording was in VHS :-) so i have been in love with this field for ever ago. but now i'm disabled and unable to walk or stand on my own at least for now, it's been since 2012 or so, now i move around in a cool electric scooter my hubby bought me few months ago, but i'm still adjusting, emotionally. anyways....the photos i take makes me proud, because all i have learned has been on my own, and from youtube and skillshare. I did pretty cool photos on iphone before and i was saving to get a real camera for about 2 yrs very little by little, i wan't in a rush. evry day i learn more and more, i don't want to depend on "auto" modes, I'm a crafter too, i make all kinds of things, and my daughters too, the 3 of them have different talents, I have to say, I totally love your channel, and how honest you speak to us. i wonder if u speak espanol?
Yeah I think my biggest fault is that I procrastinating too much even though I try to do baby steps like you said. It's crazy a middle age man trying to learn how to use my camera, start, a website watching UA-cam videos and only have weekends free to practice any photography! It can be so depressing at times, but I ll keep going/trying! Baby steps!
I totally get you… It’s hard to keep up when being busy and having such a little time. One step at a time. Otherwise it can be super overwhelming… It did happen to me and then I was procrastinating even more because I didn’t know from where to start. 🤦🏻♀️ But YES! Keep at it and slowly slowly! 🙏🏼❤️
I'm in the same boat... well maybe not the middle aged part just yet 😅... But added to what Laura mentioned I've noticed that what ever I'm consistent at (those baby steps), dedicating time every week (whether it be an hour or ten minutes), I grow in it and improve. Be encouraged that there's many like us out there. Keep at it.

Okay I need some help. 😁 I don't have a PC but I do have an ipad. Squarespace sucks on there as does the mobile browser version also. Is there another app I can use to build a website?

Dejé de hacer Bodas, Bautizos, Books y todo eso, porque dejó de gustarme el "negocio" y cómo eran las fotos, me aburrió, vaya. Empecé a meterle punche a mi blog de viajes y plasmar ahí la fotografía documental que es lo que me encanta. Aunque el blog es para compartir mis experiencias de viaje y tal, no es lo que me paga las facturas. Entonces, es muy cierto, que muchas veces con un trabajo normal, no tenemos ni tiempo/nergía/ganas de sacar la cámara. Value is an aggregation of service/product in a simple transaction. While simple, I don't think people understand value...because value has to be measure in a period of time. In other words, what I am learning as free professional photography can give me nothing in 24 hours and a lot in 60 months.
What amateurs see is just the end of the photographers journey (taking pictures), and ask questions based on limited knowledge like: Why do you charge so much for pictures? I can do the same thing as you with my phone? What amateurs don't appreciate is your creativity, time, effort, and sacrifice poured into capturing a moment that's going to change the trajectory of another person's life - like a medical surgeon!

I watch you video as a starter photographer and I am learning a lot. I am not charging yet but I am doing my second photo shoot with non-models but I give them that model experience. I am using a Canon Rebel T6 with 40mm pancake lenses. I can say it’s hard but I am hopping to get a 50mm.

Are you still using a Canon 5D Mark IV? I'm still using it, I love it, but I worry that I need to upgrade to shoot in low light.

I watch you video as a starter photographer and I am learning a lot. I am not charging yet but I am doing my second photo shoot with non-models but I give them that model experience. I am using a Canon Rebel T6 with 40mm pancake lenses. I can say it’s hard but I am hopping to get a 50mm.
This is where anyone can start a problem solver encourage to be courage for moving forward to be successful 🤗.

Yo estoy hace años intentando hacer más cosas en la fotografía pero siempre algo se atraviesa en el camino (mi ocupación es diseño de comunicación).
Te pido un consejo: un chico conocido que con su novia están teniendo tremendo suceso en Instagram - muchísimos seguidores y todo orgánico. Yo podría proponerles una session pero es que no me gusta lo estilo que tienen, no me identifico nada. Tengo miedo de quedar asociado a algo que no tiene que ver conmigo. Devo hacerlo? Sobre el trabajo fotográfico, depende… Si el estilo es muy diferente al tuyo, puedes adaptarte y cobrar más (eso es lo que hago yo cuando no me gusta un proyecto 😅).
O sino, no hacerlo.
Todo depende de cuanto necesites ese trabajo pero yo he dicho que no muchas veces y en otras ocasiones lo he hecho cobrando un poco más.
