thank you! it didn't work for me while my USB was APFS formated, but did work with startup master.
had the same problem (APFS formatted) but could not change the format so i just partitioned it with the option mac-journaled - then it worked!

It says on the last part that “the volume cannot be downgraded.”
It's so stupid that you have to download the whole os just so you can do this when this one feature can be added to the disk utility.

at 3.03 on video where you type in password. Does it take a while before you can type the password? Wasn't letting me type password so went to close terminal and it said Do you want to terminate running processes in this window? Does this mean it's still doing it's thing? Figured it out. You missed saying when you type in the password it doesn't actually show but then hit enter.

Mine failed to extract AssetData/boot/firmware/manifests/installerboot/* from update bundle The bless of the installer disk failed. I also noticed the OS Ventura downloaded was less than 11 gigs. it is only 10.51 GB in size. I have downloaded it twice to make sure. I noticed yours says 12.19 GB.
Is this the same as doing an clean install?

Hi, I would like to install macos catalina on my old mac air '12. Need help with the terminal commands to use. The downloaded macos catalina wouldnt go to applications folder.
I'm currently on macOS Sonoma and it's draining my battery so bad, before I used macOS Ventura which is great battery life. I have a question if now I'm on macOS Sonoma and I boot into macOS Ventura, will this losing my data?
If I use this on my Mac that’s become unable to get past the login screen will it delete my data to use this installer?
Can i remove the installer USB after installing it as primary OS on the device ?
Such a hassle, junk apple software. Windows lets you just drag a boot file onto a usb.

Not helpful at all. App store redirect to macOS update and throws "Update not found".

@@TheConstant82 i encountered one set back.First , Yu have to format the USB to extended journaled thru Disk utility prior to installing the OS on the USB.

SanDisk USB drives keep dying, No reaction by the manufacturer, even to the press. SanDisk has to be boycotted until they fix their products.
this is useless if you dont have an operating system already installed
