Came across your page looking for macOS patch management and the softwareupdate --list hands down will be a game changer for keeping older macOS versions in my back pocket if the latest and greatest hits the fan Thanks Mr. Macintosh!!!
Hello! I want to install Ventura on my iMac where I recently downloaded Monterey 12.6.6 version but my computer is giving the message that is not available for my computer. What can I do? thanks for your reply.
Mr, Macintosh...you are the best !!! Thanks to you ... I came so far with my Imac and apple issues. Keep going on, I appreciate what you are doing for everbody ...
I might going to say, you should become a macOS Developer. You are the greatest for tutorials and even giving tutorials how to install macOS Ventura on a Unsupported Mac!
Hey Mr. M. - is that a Donelleschi Sticky-Windows type tabbed window (if you can remember that) at the edge of the screen at around 5:46, or is it just a window stuck away from the recording?
If I install an older version let’s say from Ventura to Monterrey with one of the links you’ve provided, does that resets my Mac entirely? Or nothing happens and it just lets me install an older software ? I’m new to this but I just want to downgrade from Ventura to Monterrey
Great question Helton, and is the topic of my next video. Apple requires a full erase and reinstall of the OS if you want to downgrade from Ventura to Monterey. Apple DOES let you use the installer to install over the top of a current install to fix any issues but they do not allow you to go down one version example Ventura 13.2 to 13.1.
On Catalina: softwareupdate does not have option: --list-full-installers. In general, I am a bit bothered how Apple is making things 'inconsistent' within versions of their os. Those commands should work, and the repos should be available. I thought that macOS takes best from *nix OS'es and adds validation and ease of use - but it also ads: 'we are greedy' factor. 🤫 Edit: Are PKG installers ARM/x86 architecture agnostic, or not?
Thanks for your thorough explanation of downloading Ventura. My question: Is it possible to downgrade TO Ventura FROM Sonoma that the new Mac Mini came with installed?
I have older laptops but a newer iMac and a slow connection at home. I want to download at a faster connection than I have at home and carry it home on my laptop so I can transfer it to my newer iMac. How do I download on an incompatible computer so I can download it and sneakernet it home. Not everyone has new everything and fast connections. Does Apple allow this or are "the rest of us" out of luck? ;-) Thanks so much for all your good info!
Hey Andy, check the sound output in system preferences. Sometimes the upgrade changes it and you need to set it back to "macbook pro speakers" instead of headphones
Ventura 13, Monterey 12.6 and 12.6.1 = battery drains when you close the lid ( all apps, too ) Monterey 12.5.1 = no battery drain ( better update this while you can, because later will not be possible to downgrade it )
Hi thx I got big sure working on my unsupported iMac Would like if you could make a video how to VFIO passthrough with Linux apple and windows running on same PC all the tutorials on UA-cam the guys are not showing the proper way they skip steps unlike you you make a person understand and show every step thx again
hi there. I unwillingly installed monterey and i really hated it, it slowed down my mac air. I want to return to ventura. But the thing is, this file doesnt show up in my applications file. how am I supposed to do the rest :(( any help is much appreciated.
Your videos have helped our school so much! Is there a safe way to get one's hands on an installer that apple has removed from their servers? I want 13.2 but they took it off in the last 2 weeks.
if I only have one partition and that one has hackintosh, the installer.pkg will erase the GUI partition? i.e. I will not have opencore to be able to start it?
hello Mr Macintosh. I really need your help please could you help me if i can downgrade the macbook or iMac 2017 or later or M1 to MacOS X El Capitan Please how can i do...
Great tutorial video. Thanks ! Is there anyway we can see the smaller Ventura "Delta" upgrade in /Applications folder or is there anyway to download that smaller Delta upgrade ?
thank you for all of your videos - i recently tried to upgrade my late 2012 imac to monterey 12.61 from 12.4 using OCLP 0.52 and the install assistant pkg. for some reason, when i tried to run the installer i got a message saying the software license was not available. Every time I ran the installer it would go so far (13 mins remaining) and then say the installer was damaged. i tried doing this 2 or 3 time (re downloading the install pkg) and got the same problem - unable to display software license and unable to unstall (installer damaged message). eventually i wiped the drive clean and tried to do a clean install - this time the license was displayed at the beginning but ultimately the install failed. have you come across a problem this before and is it fixable? (btw - the 'faulty' installer seems to work ok on other macs)
Hello bibanova, that is a strange one for sure. I would still blame the installer and create it again. Did you create it in the OCLP app? Also if you want to only do a software update from 12.4 to 12.6.1 you can use software update. Only the upgrade to Ventura is not supported via software update.
@@Mr.Macintosh hallo again - yes, OLCP 5.2 - i downloaded the installer 3 different times, i also tried software update. unfortunately nothing worked. ultimately i was able to clone a different mac and get the computer up and running that way, the weird thing that i have never seen before was the message saying the software license was unavailable at the start of the process. I am guessing that this was something to do with failed updates. i tried the same installer on a different mac and the license info was there although i didnt follow through with the complete update process on the 2nd computer. i will try again in a couple of weeks, maybe with a totally different os to see if i can get it to work first of all in a kind of 'downgraded' way
I have a macbook pro from last year. I forgot my password and Apple ID and now stuck with activation lock. I'm I able ot use the usb to run the utilities to erase the mac?I ask because the mac will not allow me to erase while activation lock is present and I do not know the password or Apple ID.
get a different ssd for it. or do a open core install that removes activation. its hdd locked. if you can get into the macbooks internals wothout damaging. take the cmos battery out and leave it out for 15 before installing new ssd and software
Hi Mr. Macintosh, I screwed up my OC. I patched it and cancelled the reboot and did Volume-patching on my MBP-2012 15”. Was trying to do things once and restart once but after restart my Mac is stuck on the Apple logo but underneath it’s working. When I press Play on the keyboard Music starts and plays but the screen still shows the Apple logo. I can access Safe Mode where everything works slowly. When I uninstall volume patches in Safe Mode, the Mac boots fine in normal mode but graphics are slow. I have tried to reinstall macOS 13 without formatting the drive with the intention to refresh and repair broken system files. It boots but without graphics acceleration and the restart after installing the post-volume patching, the computer works while stuck at 47% of the Apple logo progress bar. ** Even booting in Single User mode gives has errors and gets stuck ** Is there a way this can be fixed without loosing data? Would erasing my Mac partition and reinstalling macOS fix it?
Hello Eggman, not yet. Ventura on Non Metal is still in development. Also keep in mind, OTA upgrades to Ventura are not supported. The USB Upgrade is required.
Getting error : The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
Hey Tech 21, to restore the recovery partition on M1, you need a 2nd mac and Apple Configurator 2 app. You need to put the M1 in DFU mode and then use the REVIVE option. That will reinstall macOS Recovery.
@@Mr.Macintosh come to find out my MacBook isn’t compatible I have a MacBook Air early 2015 when I follow your steps it tells me my MacBook is already up to date
I have a base model M1 Mac Mini, and I decided that it will forever run Monterey. Ventura's RAM demands is much higher than Monterey, and I cannot upgrade the 8GB RAM I have. Basically, Ventura and any major macOS in the future will be a death sentence to my Mac Mini.
What is the RAM requirement for Ventura? Apple Silicon's Universal Memory along high bandwidth of the memory subsystem should gave your 8 GB M1 system some breathing room.
im suprised to hear that! Theres no way i'd imagine an m1 mac Not being able to pull Ventura easily...as the other commenter said, its ram, though minimal, is highly optimized and super efficent
I agree with Ire and skip. Your Mac Mini should be able to handle Ventura just fine with 8GB. What I would do is check activity monitor to see if one or 2 apps are running out of control with memory. If so they could be the cause of all the problems.
Best macOS system administration videos I've ever come across! Thanks for all that you do; it really does make a difference! 😁👍🏼✨
