These are all methods for which computer technicians are usually stuck. Nowadays everything is much more simplified. All you need is a copy, even the free version, of Aomei Backupper, which creates a grub menu from which you can choose whether to enter your OS or Aomei's recovery system. Aomei also creates incremental backups for you to access at boot time, at any time.
I used to use Acronis, but it didn't work well for copying one drive to another (when both drives were in an external caddy)...it kept using the boot info from the internal drive, and if that was different than the external, oh well. I guess this was supposed to be a limitation on the home version to prevent you from using it in a tech environment. I tried Macrium (free) and liked it, especially it's emergency boot USB creation. So I purchased a 4-license family pack on a sale they had. Shortly after they jacked up the price to a subscription model (per machine) that was expensive. I might use more than 4 licenses, so I was looking elsehwere. Since then I've considered Hasleo Backup Suite. It is free and even supports incremental and differential backups (which FBackup does not do in the free version). I'm going to be experimenting with it in the future.
@@AskYourComputerGuy You have to get the older versions of Macrium from before they went pricing-only. The last free version was v7.3.6391. I have only done Windows stuff, but Macrium has worked every time even with modern hardware (newer PC + SSD).
In my 15 years of IT job - I have never seen anyone like you who can run everything you should in this video as if "it's SO SIMPLE". You just gave me GOD MODE haha. God bless :)
I'm a life long friend from the first 19 seconds of your video. I remember Norton Utils and 40 meg hard drives. My 1st IBM PC1 MB had a 10meg full height Bay Seagate Hard Drive... and I liked it back then, I had a Hercules Graphic card so I could see dithered color in green dots. It was wonderful.
NOTICE: I Formatted my USB drive. I was under the presumption this would remove everything associated with "Ventoy." However, "Formatting"" the USB drive did NOT remove Ventoy. When Ventoy is placed on the USB drive, Ventoy creates its own partition. This partition is NOT "Formatted" when the USB drive is "Formatted." Apparentlly the only way to get rid of Ventoy from a USB drive is to "Merge" all the partitions, and then do a "Format" of the USB drive. I was going to use MemTest86 on its own - without Ventoy. So, MemTest86 was placed on the one partition that was new and had been formatted. But, when I used MemTest86 it showed up under "Ventoy," even though MemTest was on the other partition.
for the past 6 months I've been pointing folks at your two usb video when they have windows problems now I'm excited to get started with this new solution. A massive thankyou for the work you have put in making the video's.
I appreciate that! FYI there is an updated version with updated links and more information: [2024 MEGA update!] 2 USB boot drives EVERY Windows user should make before it's too late! ua-cam.com/video/pi3haU6h1es/v-deo.html
I have been using Ventoy for several years now and have it on a 1TB USB SanDisk, and also on a USB 2TB Seagate personal drive and have copied approximately 65 ISO's to it and it works great. So it does not have to be limited to a small USB Flash Drive. My next project is to learn the Network Ventoy.
Brilliant! I’ve got a big smile on my face 😁. I just ordered and received a shiny new flash drive. In order to make the rescue disc/s but hadn’t got round to doing it by following your previous hyrens video. Even though I know nothing, I was asking myself why you needed two drives. As if by magic this came up. Very much appreciate your clear instructions. And even more your candour about how you decided to investigate, and then recommend, Ventoy. Thank you 🙏
How much did you pay for that smile that you mentioned ? Understand that > Got < means something acquired by toil > Have < means possession I would recommend you undertake an extensive reading program to better educate yourself and learn correct grammatical English. I use Ventoy for the past 2 years and what I store on my ventoy drive is 1. WinPE 11-10-8 Sergei Strelec iso 2. Snappy driver installer 3. latest Windows 10/11 iso's. Those Iso's allow me to freshly install/repair most common computer systems/Problems and doesn't require hugh USB drive 128GB is prefect in the near future
I used to carry around a wallet just for USB drives. Ever since I found out about Ventoy, I only ever need just one flash drive now. It's been awesome not having to worry about labeling all my drives or misplacing the particular one I need.
Thank you for the useful info. I used to be a Geek Squad member back in the day.. Early to late 2000s then left for law enforcement.. Just one thing so you guys don't learn the hard way like I did. I did all that nice setup then I decided to "add" Medicat. It wiped everything and there was no warning of format like all the formatting softwares I've used. I had a bunch of ISOs and drivers. It seems like if you want to go with Medicat do that first, then if your flash drive is large like mine (256GB), just add the extra stuff on it after.
I am also in the IT Field, I am heading towards retirement so I am old school. I find your channel refreshingly easy to follow. Going to Use an External USB3 SSD instead of a USB Flash. Looking at Medicat as well. Thanks for the pointers.
the thing about ventoy, that i like the most is the fact that you can still use a ventoy stick as a normal usb drive ontop. Therefore, i have like 6 or 7 flash drives around the house and all of them are ventoy sticks just in case. so i dont even need to find the one bootable stick, i can boot from any flash drive
You should consider adding information about how Ventoy's "security key" may need to be enrolled before before the newly created Ventoy USB can be used to boot to the various ISO options on the USB. I have created some Ventoy USB over the past few years and never encountered the problem I had when creating a new USB to use with my new Windows 11 computer, using your easy to follow guide. Because secure boot was in effect I needed to enroll the key (I did it through the key method, not the hash method) and once I did that the Ventoy USB worked fine. Yes, I know I could have turned secure boot off and used Ventory and then turn secure boot back on, but hey when your are troubleshooting a problem that step could be forgotten.
Hi ripper, I think I have that problem with your describing. I have a new Lenovo Windows 11 computer and I can't get ventoy to boot on my thumb drive. I got an error message. Can you describe what you mean when you say you enrolled a key on ventoy? I have no idea what that means. thanks
I learned about Ventoy about two years ago, as I was trying out every multiboot flash drive program around. The problem was some ISO's would work and others not. So far I have found them all to work and work well with Ventoy. I have several Ventoy disks that I create so that if one gets corrupted when you least expect it I have another. I also have a 2TB Seagate Personal drive and have over 80 different ISO's on it. Like you I have also created a folder to put other software and files that I might need. I have started using a larger group of portable applications which do not have to be installed into the system like the normal installs, for working with a computer customer. Thank you for sharing this video. Side note, when you go to install a linux distro like Ubuntu, you need to remove the USB drive before you do the install. It will otherwise become part of the boot process of the installed distro. That corrupts the Ventoy drive and you have to do a remake when you get home.
Been using YUMI for years, but this seems a little more fluid 👍 You can have Ventoy ignore an entire directory, and its subdirectories, by placing an unnamed file with the extension ".ventoyignore" within it (In other words, the file should only have the extension with no name prefixing it). This is useful if you have other .ISO files on the drive that aren't bootable, and will speed up the loading of Ventoy, especially if you have many other files that don't need to be searched by it. (By the way, there a quick registry edit you can do to remove drives showing up multiple times on the Windows Explorer sidebar. Absolutely drives me nuts!)
I used YUMI for a bit but one day just stopped booting. Another issue is that it can take longer to write ISO files to the USB stick as it has to actually extract them... which leads to the other issue of having hundreds, if not thousands, of loose files on the disk in a rather convoluted file and folder structure. To remove an ISO you also have to go through an uninstall process, because of aforementioned extracted file and folder structure. Ventoy makes it so much cleaner and simpler, with less likelihood of corruption or user confusion.
I'm impressed .... a "How to" video that is easy to follow and made so it's not flying thru screens so I can't see what was selected. I'll be watching more of your videos for sure. I had never heard of Ventoy and I read a LOT.
Yes, year 52 in PC's for me, HIREN's was also a tool in my pack, when I last repaired/used windows, but I have been using Ventoy last 12 months or so to manage multiple Raspberry PI's & Clones like Nano Pi - Orange Pi etc, all use ARM Ubuntu, but different Versions depending on CPU it was compiled for, so Ventoy is real handy keeping all the ARM ISO's in 1 spot .. ;)
I guess I don't get it. Why is Ventoy better than backing up to an external drive? Also, I've always wondered why backing up isn't a one or two click thing. They have created high level AI but somehow these smart people can't (won't?) design a back up process without 197 steps?
Ventoy is better, in my opinion, because you not only have the ability to back up to a flash drive (or external storage in your case), but you have the added benefit of tons of repair tools and operating system installers on the same disk. Just makes sense to wear one took belt vs several. But everyone has different needs ;)
What is the best combination for the flash drive when you create Vin toy? Mbr or gpt, and what file system, expat or ntfs? combination I messed up my jump drives now having problems creating but I gotta wipe them start over again so that’s why I’m asking.
For best compatibility in my opinion, probably MBR and EX-FAT. For speed, MBR and NTFS. Stay away from GPT as it's a newer fornat and not all machines have the ability to read GPT drives yet. Stick with MBR and EX-FAT and you should be fine 💪
Thank you for this excellent video. I don't always follow directions and take shortcuts to save time. After reviewing the process, I fixed my mistakes and now everything works well. I am glad I found your channel!
I'm using a ventoy 500gb external ssd for over a year and it's a really great tool, the only minor problem is it's not considered safe bootable on some lenovo laptops even with safe key implemented. Still starts working after some setups in extended mode bios.
One thing you might have mentioned was the Partition Configuration option, which makes it possible to reserve some space for a separate partition on the flash drive when you flash it with Ventoy. This is great when you use live CD's as you can access the internet and download stuff, save it on the separate partition in case you haven't prepared for something going wrong like having Hirens or whatever. EDIT: As far as I know, since I haven't used Ventoy since version 1.0.78, it's not possible to access the ISO storage part when you boot into a live CD environment - might've changed.
I did address this at 11:06, but the reason I chose the folder option vs the separate partition option is because I had difficulty making it work and boot properly. If I had an issue with it, I knew an average user would also. So creating a folder just for personal files (which can also be mapped as a drive letter in Windows, simulating a separate partition), would be a much more user-friendly option ;)
Hi Scott, Hope all is good. I followed your instructions to a T. I have made my Veytoy USB drive (128 GB) Thought I'd share what I have on the drive - Windows 10 - Windows 11 - Hiren’s BootCD PE - LinixMint (If needed) - FBackUp - VM Ware (Non-Commercial) The reason why I put VM Ware, is That I have some friends and family who may want to try for example Linux now they can. To be honest, I've tried Linux maybe just me but I can't get into it. Not hate to Linux users. Yes, I took your advice about adding software. Thanks again
Back in the day, I used Hiren's by loading on a writable mini-CD [you could get versions that were credit-card sized that could pop straight into your wallet for an 'everyday carry"]. There were also mini-distros of Linux, and of course, it was lots of command-line interfacing. So familiarity with bash and DOS shell was important. The thing about read-only installation/repair media is that you can be absolutely sure that the change-rooted environment you boot up in is clean of malware [provided of course your media was clean to begin with!; -)] I suppose in theory you could come across viral code in the CMOS memory, but I never encountered it.
Ventoy really is a game changer, we really went from carrying a huge cd case to an all in one solution on a tiny USB drive, I even have a custom menu for mine it really is such a great tool.
I appreciate you distributing this knowledge and the way you explain everything so that even a beginner could understand. I would always recommend showing, even very quickly, what something does, then going over installation.
Where has this been my whole life?? Since I didn't know about this, I just recently picked up the Iodd ST400 - an external SSD enclosure that allows you to select ISOs like this... works a little differently, but same idea. Between these two tricks, 15+ years of always having the wrong installer is finally over! Thanks :)
There is also the optical drive emulator device called "IODD". Same ISO drag and drop. IODD will boot on any hardware as the pc/server will see it as a USB optical disk. Boots on everything even old 2000 era hardware that is non-UEFI.
Iodd 2541 and st400 are two devices personally used. Recommend either. They can do images, ISO’s, VHD, and virtual removable hard drives. Works with all devices I have tried on that can do disc boot also.
Love Ventoy. Very useful for folks who want to test-drive different Linux distributions. Plus, all the spare room on the USB drive can be used for persistent storage. On mine I have Eset-sysrescue, Rescuezilla( mainly for cloning drives), ParrotOS-Security plus a bunch of Windows and Linux ISOs.
outdated does not mean obsolete or not workable, I still work on old PC's some people around these parts will dig out their old PC or their Grandad's and want to us it, and of course that means a flash drive such as the 64GB you used here, will not work, so I never get rid of my old tools, "outdated" or not, I was building PC's when many fans here who talk about "outdated" were not born and neither were their PC's. I do think they could all learn a lot by working on older machines the way we did back in the day, the experience of doing it once, twice and two more times is so valuable, as I am sure many of you already know. I find that when someone teaches me something new that is indeed new, I can also teach them some new to them but old to the world, and they do realise how good it is to know. the old tech is still out there and people will still want to use it, technicians should know how to fix it, and no I am not talking about PC techs learning Atari ST or Commodore Amiga, although with home made modern mods even they are are not dead yet.
Easy2boot does more than Ventoy and Easy2boot can have both Ventoy and agFM installed additionally on the same flash drive should you want to use any of the three options.
v1.0.97 Isn't the latest but As of the time I'm writing this, it works and its just a bit behind the latest version. just a tip for anyone else crosschecking this video here trying to format their USB Drives as a Ventoy drive as well. I used it myself when I saw how many downloads it had in comparison to v1.0.98. Great Video! 👍
Great content, another great video is to make these ISO's persistent. I have linux persistent on ventoy but never got around to windows. May be a good idea and when i say persistent i mean to use the drive as a full operating system with software/programms installed rather than carrying a laptop around 👍USB 4 is fast now so no need for internal storage 😉
The only issue I had with Ventoy was with ISO's that were either UEFI or legacy boot. Mixing the two didn't work so I had to have two Ventoy drives one that was for legacy booting ISOa and one for UEFI booting ISOs. It may not be an issue any longer so I'll give it another try.
That's an interesting dilemma. Haven't even thought of that. Let me know what you find out. I'm sure someone on the Ventoy forums has addressed this. I'd start there :)
@@AskYourComputerGuy I think it may be more of an issue with the BIOS config and the ISOs in Ventoy. Selecting either UEFI or Legacy boot in the BIOS can cause a failure in the opposite one booting depending on which one the ROM uses.
Agreed... had the same problem when I first used Ventoy (with Medicat) a couple weeks ago trying to clone/upgrade a laptop SSD... some of the iso's wouldn't boot until I changed the BIOS to legacy... then others wouldn't work until I changed it back to UEFI. At some point Windows gave errors and I had a mini-heart atack as it looked like something partition related got screwed up. My suggestion is to make notes about each step you try, so you can go back and undo it logically.
Thank you for your knowledge, as a young person who wants to be a Tech by my ownself i want to be prepared for any possible troubles, i want to make My own toolkit, and im happy that i found you, sharing your knowledge and experience.
One thing to be wary of is updating the Ventoy software on the USB stick using the update option in the program's menu. When I did that it wiped all the ISO files from my USB stick and made it so that none of the partitions were recognized by Windows. I had to do a DiskPart format to get the drive back to factory standards and functional again. I think in some cases the Ventoy software has to be updated using that live ISO file that's also available for download on the Ventoy website, although when I last looked into it there wasn't much documentation on it. Since then I just run an older version of Ventoy as am too scared to update it given that I've got about 60Gb of ISO files now on my Ventoy stick and it's slow as molasses writing that much data to even USB 3.0.
Thanks for sharing. I have not heard of Ventoy deleting anything on the update except the boot partition, which is not where the ISO files should be stored. Maybe that's what happened, you put the ISO files on the boot partition? Is that possible?
Well that's news to me. Can't see any other way it would, considering the people who created Ventoy say it doesn't delete anything, just updates. I'd check the Ventoy forums for more information
@@FlyboyHelosim I think it only formats if you change the partition type. try to remember if you used mbr or gpt as partition type in ventoy before doing an update! I regularly update my ventoy drive and I haven't come across any issues regarding my iso's getting deleted. Maybe try to see what went wrong on a test drive?
@@Daonexus I would have kept the partition type the same, MBR, as I use a 64Gb USB stick. I only really did the update out of curiosity. It's not something I really feel the need to keep updated and I don't even use it that often.
The only potential setback with a mult-booting ISO USB stick that contains Windows and Linux installers may be constraints with secure boot, UEFI and legacy-based firmware BIOSes. Some systems may not recognize the USB drive if it's formatted to a system-specific setup. Of course most modern hardware is UEFI but the question is if the installed ISOs will work in both environments. DELL, HP, Lenovo, etc. all seem to be on the same page in respects to pre-boot security constraints. The old days of just tapping a function key, esc or delete to get a USB to boot may be coming to an end, unfortunately...
Probably not one of the use cases youve heard of but i installed ventoy on an sd card so i can partition the ssd on my steam deck and install windows on it but afterwards i realized that it formatted my sd card in a way that allows it to be used as a storage drive in both steamos and windows meaning i can transfer files from linux to windows seamlessly which is really cool so i just kept ventoy installed on my sd card ever since and its been awesome
As a new PC owner (left my 10yo iMac) I’m bamboozled but what I need to do/what I can do/what I shouldn’t do. This is a great video. Now granted I haven’t looked yet at your channel but have you a noobs guide to good PC etiquette, basic do’s and don’t’s. My SSD iMac has stayed pretty quick apart from ram issues and wouldn’t love some tips about organising files etc to help.
Looks good i'll give it a try. I'm glad you mentioned the Hiren's virus problem. Firefox warned me and that's the reason I never tested it. I'll give that another try also.
I got a ton of comments on the 2 flash drive video about it so I figured if throw it out there to save my viewers time and headache and having to reach out 👍
Update: Scott directed me to "Nico Knows Tech" for help with my disappearing USB problem noted below (8/26/24). Nico's process for recovering my flash drives worked like a charm. Thank you for that, Scott (and Nico)! I've since been able to successfully load Ventoy onto my 32Gb USB along with the WIN 10 & 11 ISO files and Hiren's boot CD. Now I will attempt to get my newly built PC to boot in WIN 10 with my new Ventoy USB. I don't know what was going on with all 3 flash drives, but they're fixed now with Nico's help. Thanks again, Scott!!
That is AWESOME! Nico is not only a great tech, but a dear personal friend - I'm so glad his video was able to help you out! Tagging him now @nicoknowstech
So, this Ventoy is a menu driven for all iso's. Nice. After making a win10 rescue flash drive, as you did in your other video, now I want Ventoy instead. I'll have to format and install all over again. Thanks for this new insight. SUBSCRIBED.
I use ventoy to save all my iso’s but it inly works on half the computers so i usually have to transfer the file back to my pc and make a normal desiccated usb. But when ventoy works its great
Hey Scott, wow that is really impressive, Thanks for giving me the link to this video. I definitely go the Ventoy route. Really enjoyed how you explained it step-by-step. I'm sure this USB Drive is a lifesaver!!! Again massive thank you. Ah, side note or suggestion... Think of adding a "Join" I know I'd definitely support your channel.
I appreciate your support and I thank you! Considering opening a members-only section on my channel, just haven't gotten around to it yet with the incredible (and surprising) growth in 2023. Stay tuned, I'm sure it's coming soon :)
I've been using a Zalman ZM-VE350 for years. Toss a harddrive in it, put ISOs on it, select which ISO you want on the built in screen and it emulates a cdrom.
fisrt time i made bootable hhd {80gb} disk by vintoy with 2 partition one for boot and 2nd for others stuff ... also u can make iso link { 32kb in size} no need to paste iso's in vintoy partition if you use same system + also you have option for bios{mbr},gpt{{ufi} ... this is best thing ever in this filed.
Thanks for the reminder. I had used Ventoy years ago but when I last year when I need to run some boot utilities I put each one on old microSD cards. :D You're correct. I should by a new USB drive that will be much faster than my old ones and place everything on there.
When I created my ventoy disk, and then went to Clone it using aomei software, I ran into issues. It would not let me clone due to system type. What I ended up doing was wiping both my usb jump drives, anad making them both mbr or gpt, and then made sure to change the file system to NTFS. Once I did that I was able to clone. Also prior to cloning I was able to install/add Medicat to the ventoy jump drive....Thanks Scott for showing your video, now I have one drive with all my utilities in one place! :)
Thank You very much. I have created the USB, just ordered a mother board cpu and memory so I can play with it to have a test bed for M.2 drives and upgrading drives without risking my main computer. Again Thank You for making this great video and I have subscribed to your channel.
If you are using a usb mouse/keyboard connected through a usb hub, you will need to connect them directly to the PC to be able to get to the bios options and allow a selection during booting from the ventoy usb
tried ventoy a couple of years ago, never went back to yumi. I just love the drag and drop option for ISO files. No need to run anything, just drag and drop.
I really use my Ventoy YUMI boot disk. It is not infallible. I have a few edge cases where it doesn't work for one reason or another, usually a BIOS bug (I have a lot of esoteric hardware from Sandy Bridge up to Skylake LGA 2066, and a lot of laptops). My solution is a Thumb Drive that can partition in hardware as 2 USB devices (I did have to get some sketchy factory provisioning software from a Russian website, I am sure there are other options too, such as a Dual SD card reader). I use Rufus to make the first drive bootable with whatever I need most, usually Win 10 or 11 install media. Then the second has Ventoy/YUMI
Ventoy is nice, but I've ran into a few computers that will refuse to boot off it, and other that you have to turn off Secure Boot, but for the majority of systems, its works flawlessly.
Review from the PNY flash drive you recommended. This is why I suggest using a microSD rated A2 for apps or a ssd like m.2 with an enclosure. Here is that review. Some distros, including Ubuntu 22.04, boot and respond too slowly on Turbos to be used often, but would be OK to use if you just want to boot them up once in a while to check out some aspect. Others, such as Xubuntu 22.04, boot, respond, and shut down quickly enough on Turbos to be used often. The performance of Ubuntu and Xubuntu installations on the Turbos improved, up to a point, with repeated cycles of booting, app-launching/closing, and shut-down, although over the longer term, the performance didn't remain consistent
I also use Hiren boot cd/usb But I'm used to it. Just like I did with Norton Ghost ages ago till it became un usable But it's hard to find a hood free bit by bit cloner and not just one who copy files as files.
holy shit this is great i'm no tech specialist, just a user at home who enjoys overclocking his computer and building computer/tweaking etc, and i've always just been using 1 usb for all my bios files, another 2 usb for win 10 and win 11 installs, and then a new one i grabbed for hirens boot after finding your other video. found out about ventoy after that, and but i didn't know you could get windows installs within it too
Yeah I thought the multiple usb was a good idea (I have a box of them for everything I do)...- viewer told me about Ventoy and it was a game changer, so I had to share with my viewers - thx so much and I'm glad it helped you! 👍
As one who recently but inadvertently deleted a bunch of old files (since recovered), even though I have THREE external hard drives (🙄), as well as being an old military guy, I'm a firm believer in triplicate. Therefore, I'm planning on making THREE last flash drives I'll ever need.
@AskYourComputerGuy both, I had a folder named "windows 10" and I couldn't see any of the isos in it, I changed it to "windows10" and they were visable. When I'd download the iso it would have a "_" where the space would be so I haven't run into the filenames having spaces that I recall, may have had 1 I did myself but can't remember.
Mint Cinnamon is q bit heavier weight than most people need, especially on an older system. I always download the "Mate" version. It's still a very functional desktop and will work on systems that choke on Cinnamon.
How large of a flash drive do you need for Ventoy and personal files? Find out here: ua-cam.com/video/HtCBrdW6tFA/v-deo.html
is there an bootable iso to be able to troubleshoot or access files on a mac os disk?
not that I’m aware of unfortunately
@@AskYourComputerGuy thanks, update us if u find out.
Absolutely!
Good luck. asshole.

Acronis was my go to for mnay years. Macrium went to a pricing model but you can still find the free versions out there online and they work great

Ir is possible like MBR and GPT in one ventoy flash drive
@SK11335 no. You can only have one file system per drive.
You have to go into Disk Management and delete the volumes. Then create a new Simple Volume with the unallocated space.
Formatting is not partitioning! No basic knowledge of data storage devices, unfortunately failed.
I know it's a little late, but ventoy has implemented in their application the possibility to fully format the USB drives that contain it.
for the past 6 months I've been pointing folks at your two usb video when they have windows problems now I'm excited to get started with this new solution. A massive thankyou for the work you have put in making the video's.
I appreciate that! FYI there is an updated version with updated links and more information:

I have been using Ventoy for several years now and have it on a 1TB USB SanDisk, and also on a USB 2TB Seagate personal drive and have copied approximately 65 ISO's to it and it works great. So it does not have to be limited to a small USB Flash Drive. My next project is to learn the Network Ventoy.
Thanks I was wondering about this option on a 1TB WD. cheers
Thank you 🙏
That's what I do here. I'm always learning, just like you. I just filter my knowledge down to the masses ;)

Thank you. a coworker introduced me to ventoy and this was a really easy to follow guide on how to setup the bootdevice.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I use Ventoy for the past 2 years and what I store on my ventoy drive is 1. WinPE 11-10-8 Sergei Strelec iso 2. Snappy driver installer 3. latest Windows 10/11 iso's. Those Iso's allow me to freshly install/repair most common computer systems/Problems and doesn't require hugh USB drive 128GB is prefect in the near future
👍
I used to carry around a wallet just for USB drives. Ever since I found out about Ventoy, I only ever need just one flash drive now. It's been awesome not having to worry about labeling all my drives or misplacing the particular one I need.
Pretty awesome, isn't it? I love it!
Good tip, thank you! 💪
I am also in the IT Field, I am heading towards retirement so I am old school. I find your channel refreshingly easy to follow. Going to Use an External USB3 SSD instead of a USB Flash. Looking at Medicat as well. Thanks for the pointers.
Good deal! And congratulations on your upcoming "parole" 😂
Medicat FTW! Saved my ass many times 😂
the thing about ventoy, that i like the most is the fact that you can still use a ventoy stick as a normal usb drive ontop. Therefore, i have like 6 or 7 flash drives around the house and all of them are ventoy sticks just in case. so i dont even need to find the one bootable stick, i can boot from any flash drive
💪👍
Hi ripper,
I think I have that problem with your describing. I have a new Lenovo Windows 11 computer and I can't get ventoy to boot on my thumb drive. I got an error message. Can you describe what you mean when you say you enrolled a key on ventoy? I have no idea what that means. thanks
👍
Also turning secure boot of and on again could be a problem if Bitlocker is installed and the user didn't save the key before.
Good to know! 👍
Been using YUMI for years, but this seems a little more fluid 👍
You can have Ventoy ignore an entire directory, and its subdirectories, by placing an unnamed file with the extension ".ventoyignore" within it (In other words, the file should only have the extension with no name prefixing it).
Worth checking into, thanks! 💪
Good to know. I've heard other people brag about YUMI but wasn't familiar with it. This is good info to be aware of 💪
TLDR: Install Ventoy as a live disk on a USB, Grab the ISO's of the OS's/Tools you want, Copy Paste ISO's onto USB, Boot as a live disk. Jobs done.
👍
I'm impressed .... a "How to" video that is easy to follow and made so it's not flying thru screens so I can't see what was selected. I'll be watching more of your videos for sure. I had never heard of Ventoy and I read a LOT.
Thanks, much appreciated 👍
ventoy is absolutely fabulous. some isos do -not- work, but generally most do.
👍
Yes, year 52 in PC's for me, HIREN's was also a tool in my pack, when I last repaired/used windows, but I have been using Ventoy last 12 months or so to manage multiple Raspberry PI's & Clones like Nano Pi - Orange Pi etc, all use ARM Ubuntu, but different Versions depending on CPU it was compiled for, so Ventoy is real handy keeping all the ARM ISO's in 1 spot .. ;)
Nice!!!
I've been using ventoy for quite sometime and it is really helpful.. forget about other apps like rufus etc.. its really a game changer..
It impressed me and made me switch my methodology. Enough said! 💪
Been using Ventoy for few years after going through other similar utilities. My #1 utility to go to.
Agreed!
Thank you for this excellent video. I don't always follow directions and take shortcuts to save time. After reviewing the process, I fixed my mistakes and now everything works well. I am glad I found your channel!
So glad to hear that! Glad you figured it out ;)
I have been carrying 3 to 5 USBs in my pocket for the last decade... Now down to one! You got a new subscriber!
Awesome!!!!
I'm using a ventoy 500gb external ssd for over a year and it's a really great tool, the only minor problem is it's not considered safe bootable on some lenovo laptops even with safe key implemented. Still starts working after some setups in extended mode bios.
👍
I have a 64gb flashdrive with ventoy containing windows 10, 11, and various linux distros. Very useful.
I have made my Veytoy USB drive (128 GB)
Thought I'd share what I have on the drive
- Windows 10
- Windows 11
- Hiren’s BootCD PE
- LinixMint (If needed)
- FBackUp
- VM Ware (Non-Commercial)
The reason why I put VM Ware, is That I have some friends and family who may want to try for example Linux now they can.
The thing about read-only installation/repair media is that you can be absolutely sure that the change-rooted environment you boot up in is clean of malware [provided of course your media was clean to begin with!; -)]
I suppose in theory you could come across viral code in the CMOS memory, but I never encountered it.
Very true. And I, too, remember the mini-cd. You'd see a lot of them passed around as "business cards". Glad that trend didn't last LOL
Ventoy really is a game changer, we really went from carrying a huge cd case to an all in one solution on a tiny USB drive, I even have a custom menu for mine it really is such a great tool.
Agreed!
I appreciate you distributing this knowledge and the way you explain everything so that even a beginner could understand.
I would always recommend showing, even very quickly, what something does, then going over installation.
Thanks, much appreciated 👍
Where has this been my whole life?? Since I didn't know about this, I just recently picked up the Iodd ST400 - an external SSD enclosure that allows you to select ISOs like this... works a little differently, but same idea. Between these two tricks, 15+ years of always having the wrong installer is finally over! Thanks :)
There is also the optical drive emulator device called "IODD". Same ISO drag and drop. IODD will boot on any hardware as the pc/server will see it as a USB optical disk. Boots on everything even old 2000 era hardware that is non-UEFI.
Nice! Will check into it! 👍💪
Iodd 2541 and st400 are two devices personally used. Recommend either. They can do images, ISO’s, VHD, and virtual removable hard drives. Works with all devices I have tried on that can do disc boot also.
I done the two Jump process from your video and totally repaired a Toshiba laptop! Thank you very much and now im doing this setup too!!
Glad it helped
@AskYourComputerGuy it totally helped me!
Nice mix of ISOs! :)
@@AskYourComputerGuy In my experience, Parrot OS can "see" the Windows hard drive better than Mint can.
outdated does not mean obsolete or not workable, I still work on old PC's
some people around these parts will dig out their old PC or their Grandad's and want to us it, and of course that means a flash drive such as the 64GB you used here, will not work, so I never get rid of my old tools, "outdated" or not,
I was building PC's when many fans here who talk about "outdated" were not born and neither were their PC's.
💪👍
Easy2boot does more than Ventoy and Easy2boot can have both Ventoy and agFM installed additionally on the same flash drive should you want to use any of the three options.
Noted. I'll check them out!
Also use Easy2boot since it first came out, surprised so many people have never heard of it.
I was about to write that
Years ago I used SARDU. Not sure if it's still around.
Yep! www.sarducd.it/sardu-multiboot-creator
v1.0.97 Isn't the latest but As of the time I'm writing this, it works and its just a bit behind the latest version. just a tip for anyone else crosschecking this video here trying to format their USB Drives as a Ventoy drive as well. I used it myself when I saw how many downloads it had in comparison to v1.0.98.
Great Video! 👍
Thanks!
Scheduled for a follow-up video ;)
You are my No.1 Go-To computer man when I need to know the best way to do, or to know about, for just about anything really. Thank you very much:)
Wow, thanks!
Understood
I haven't personally had any issues with that. Although the only legacy BIOS app that I have run recently is memtest
Agreed... had the same problem when I first used Ventoy (with Medicat) a couple weeks ago trying to clone/upgrade a laptop SSD... some of the iso's wouldn't boot until I changed the BIOS to legacy... then others wouldn't work until I changed it back to UEFI.
You can do it! Glad to help!
@@AskYourComputerGuy That's what's meant to happen. No I didn't put the ISOs on the boot partition because for me at least that's hidden in Windows.
It's not something I really feel the need to keep updated and I don't even use it that often.
thank you. I did just as you said. feel safe now. I spent $2.444 on this gamer pc and i do not want it to crash. subed you :)
Unfortunately, that's true. I sure miss the good old days 🥲
@@AskYourComputerGuy Windows XP days were the best!
Couldn't agree more! Seems every other Windows OS is horrible, followed by a great one
U E F I ?.............what on earth is that? A newer type of vinyl LP for HiFi? ;-)
@englishrupe01 😂😂😂
Literally one of the best videos explaining everything I could possibly need right now 🎉
Thank you so much for the support 👍
In IT since the early dos days this is great tool and video as well. Thanks for the info.
Thanks, much appreciated! 👍
I've got a few on my channel...here's A good start:

ua-cam.com/video/j70UOLVO4I4/v-deo.html
Looks good i'll give it a try. I'm glad you mentioned the Hiren's virus problem. Firefox warned me and that's the reason I never tested it. I'll give that another try also.
I got a ton of comments on the 2 flash drive video about it so I figured if throw it out there to save my viewers time and headache and having to reach out 👍
Ive been using ventoy for a while and ive been enjoying it
It's pretty amazing!
Love the topic, the content, and your kindness in community towards viewers and comments. Subbed gratefully! Thank you and Merry Christmas! 🌲🎁☃️
Awesome! Thank you!
So, this Ventoy is a menu driven for all iso's. Nice.
After making a win10 rescue flash drive, as you did in your other video, now I want Ventoy instead.
I'll have to format and install all over again.
Thanks for this new insight.
SUBSCRIBED.
I'm always learning! It was actually a viewer who told me about it AFTER I released the "2 usb drives" video. So glad they did! Thx for the support 👍
Sure will. Thank you again. I appreciate you too.
I recommend creating a separate partition for personal files and use another partition for ventoy. It just makes sense and keeps things separated.
This is really great. No configuration necessary like the old multiboot tools.
Exactly
What a superb tool. Big thanks for the headsup and for this excellent tutorial.
Glad you found it useful! Thx and welcome to the community! :)
I've been using a Zalman ZM-VE350 for years. Toss a harddrive in it, put ISOs on it, select which ISO you want on the built in screen and it emulates a cdrom.
I do also use Ventoy too. It works in most cases. Thanks for your channel
I appreciate that 👍
fisrt time i made bootable hhd {80gb} disk by vintoy with 2 partition one for boot and 2nd for others stuff ... also u can make iso link { 32kb in size} no need to paste iso's in vintoy partition if you use same system + also you have option for bios{mbr},gpt{{ufi} ... this is best thing ever in this filed.
Thanks for the reminder. I had used Ventoy years ago but when I last year when I need to run some boot utilities I put each one on old microSD cards. :D You're correct. I should by a new USB drive that will be much faster than my old ones and place everything on there.
👍
Macrium Reflect is all you need, as long as you make regular image backups.
It also repairs boot sectors.
Sorry you went through all that headache but I'm glad you figured it out! You're very welcome, my friend!
I love your channel and I’m learning so much. You are amazing! Thank you.
Awesome! Thank you!
I've been using Ventoy for a while. It's brilliant.
Agreed!
Thank You very much. I have created the USB, just ordered a mother board cpu and memory so I can play with it to have a test bed for M.2 drives and upgrading drives without risking my main computer. Again Thank You for making this great video and I have subscribed to your channel.
Glad I could help! Thanks!!!
If you are using a usb mouse/keyboard connected through a usb hub, you will need to connect them directly to the PC to be able to get to the bios options and allow a selection during booting from the ventoy usb
Just bought 2x 64 bg drives to make your 2 stick version.....Thanks for the info I have 1 safe back up stick and a spare stick for whatever i need 👍
🔥🔥🔥👍
Ventoy also can boot floppy disk images (.img files) so you can run MemTestx86, or a simple DOS boot disk image and get a command prompt.
Nice! Good tip, thanks for sharing! ❤️
tried ventoy a couple of years ago, never went back to yumi. I just love the drag and drop option for ISO files. No need to run anything, just drag and drop.
Yeah it's pretty amazing! Glad my viewers told me about it ;)
Medicat is a great utility USB (like Hirens) and is based on Ventoy so you can add your own ISO, etc to the flashdrive
Probably going to make a dedicated video on Medicat. It's full of useful tools
I had no idea this existed, thank you for the information
Glad it helped! 👍
2:15. Info starts here.
Not if you're a novice and need to understand the reason for creating them. That's who I make videos for 👍
I really use my Ventoy YUMI boot disk.
Wow Hirens boot disk saved me a few times back in the 2000s
PNY has always been good for me. That's why I generally recommend them
I also use Hiren boot cd/usb
But I'm used to it.
Just like I did with Norton Ghost ages ago till it became un usable
But it's hard to find a hood free bit by bit cloner and not just one who copy files as files.
Subscribed, thank you just found your excellent channel, regards from the UK.
Awesome, thank you!
holy shit this is great
i'm no tech specialist, just a user at home who enjoys overclocking his computer and building computer/tweaking etc, and i've always just been using 1 usb for all my bios files, another 2 usb for win 10 and win 11 installs, and then a new one i grabbed for hirens boot after finding your other video.
found out about ventoy after that, and but i didn't know you could get windows installs within it too
Yeah I thought the multiple usb was a good idea (I have a box of them for everything I do)...- viewer told me about Ventoy and it was a game changer, so I had to share with my viewers - thx so much and I'm glad it helped you! 👍
Thanks a lot for this video, it helped me really wel, especially with f backup on the end🎉
Excellent! Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I ran into 76 problems related to boot and windows lagging and being slow and stupid so this helped me alot
Glad to hear that! 💪
As one who recently but inadvertently deleted a bunch of old files (since recovered), even though I have THREE external hard drives (🙄), as well as being an old military guy, I'm a firm believer in triplicate. Therefore, I'm planning on making THREE last flash drives I'll ever need.
Nice! And thank you for your service! 🫡

Another great one!
Thank you, Scott!
Thank YOU! :)
You can sort ISOs and more into folders, however, make sure all folders AND files contain no spaces.
I haven't had an issue with spaces in file names. Are you talking about the ISO file names or manually created folders?
@AskYourComputerGuy both, I had a folder named "windows 10" and I couldn't see any of the isos in it, I changed it to "windows10" and they were visable. When I'd download the iso it would have a "_" where the space would be so I haven't run into the filenames having spaces that I recall, may have had 1 I did myself but can't remember.
I can confirm this worked great for me. Good stuff!
Great to hear!
I like the devices that mirror a CD or hdd drive better. IODTT I believe is one of them.
👍
Great Tip ... !!! ME Too, I always go Old School, and this is a great new Tool (Thank You !!!)
Awesome! Glad you found it useful! 👍
Thanks so much for sharing this. It's really helpful!
Mint Cinnamon is q bit heavier weight than most people need, especially on an older system.
I always download the "Mate" version. It's still a very functional desktop and will work on systems that choke on Cinnamon.
Thank you so very much!!! These are awesome tools to have. I'm always looking for better ways to work on and restore computers.
Glad to help
