@@RichardAnderson-l1z We actually did measure out how much we removed from the old compressor and put that amount into the new compressor after draining it, like you are supposed to...the reason we didn't give specs is because we didn't have access to detailed information at the time and didn't want to make people think we did. We were able to find some information on random forms about how much other components required and how much the entire system takes, but we didn't entirely trust the info...but thank you, you are correct sir 👍🏼
Thanks for the video! Just replaced my ac compressor, condenser, and fan clutch. Already did water pump and tensioner a month ago. Appreciate the how to
One more thing, the 12 oz R134a freon cans now come with build in schrader valves so the cans do NOT get punctured anymore, but rather you got to treat them like a tire valve.
Great vid !! I did one 5.9 and never seen good ac pressure at 7lb on low and 160 high at 70ish ambient .went tru to pumps 2 acumulators and two expansion valves .but its working but with a house fan blowing on it cuz the fan clutch might not be engaging all the way .there alot of gap between the rad and turbo coler and condensor so we are adding electric fan on relay from fan cluch. Any ideas on gauges reading like that
Showing the location of the low pressure connection would be nice. Not sure why they have the high pressure easy access in your face when you open the hood but the low pressure access I believe on my 2006 is on top of the can way at the back of the fire wall. I was looking for something else for the longest time before I realized it was on top of the can. Wish they would put them both in your face so you don't have to go looking for them when you pop the hood. Thanks for taking the time to show this long and detailed process. Great Job. Peace
Hey! Thanks a lot for the video. It was very informative and helped me get my AC working in my 2nd gen even though its obviously a little older than your rig. I was curious why you add the pag at 11:00 to the accumulator since its job is to separate out the oil through the interior weep hole and separating it from the gas if I understood correctly. I did it anyway since you guys showed that. My accumulator has been sweating 1st couple days pretty good. Is this normal? Thank you!
Yeah sweating on the accumulator is normal, any component past the orifice tube up to the compressor will sweat, because this is the low pressure liquid side of the system. So the refrigerant will be absorbing heat from the surrounding components and changing to a vapor, which makes all those components cold, and collect moisture from the air. As far as putting oil in the accumulator, we were just trying the distribute the oil throughout the system, so that the compressor didn't run dry, the accumulator removes moisture from the system, to my knowledge it doesn't separate out oil thou. Hope that helps, Thank you for the comment, would also greatly appreciate it if you subscribe, if you haven't yet. Thanks again!
Is there a way to determine if my A/C issue is just the condenser unit vs the compressor etc? I am hoping to fix my A/C on the old dodge but thought maybe I wouldn't need to replace everything?
So you want to look at the front of the compressor where the serpentine belt goes around it. You'll be able to see the outside of the pulley of the compressor spinning with the engine on and the AC turned off, but the center of the pulley or the clutch will not turning. Once you turn the AC on the center of the pulley should start to spin with the outside of the pulley
I have replaced my fan clutch and it seems to only spin fast when I first start truck up after heats up it doesn’t spin fast anymore. Recently I also notice my ac compressor not spinning. ( my truck does not have much freon in it due to my high side hose ripping n getting replaced) last time I had my system charged it was getting to high bc my fan was not pushing enough air. Any idea what it could be ? Radiator is year old and thermostat is new (oem) when driving it’s all good but when in traffic is when it gets hot
@@Snipeoff nope, I had received two fan clutchs. When the first one was installed it was spinning and fan clutch seemed to not do the job so I had installed the another replacement they sent me. That’s when I noticed my ac compressor not spinning. Fan clutch can be stopped with my hand when truck is hot/ or when ac on.
Thank you my next project. A word or two of don't do that! Don't bang on your battery put to much stress on the plastic to lead seal and it will start to leak corrosive gas and start killing your battery's connection the famous green and white corrosion. If your fitting is to tight spread it with a wrench and screwdriver it should go on by hand then tighten it down. Thanks again for the video
Bro i know your lines were already purged to your ac. But next time be sire to show ppl how to do that and be sure to remind them to purge the lines of any ac fluid. People are watching this video to know how to replace the ac. If theu disconnect one of those lines before purging the ac lines.... It will blow up in thier face dude. Cmon.
Excellent description guys!
Much appreciated.
Excellent fully detailed video and definitely the best for these older RAM Cummins engines.
Thank you so much 👍🏼
The compressor and the rest of the system requires a very specific amount of PAG100 oil, not just almost half the bottle here and the rest here.

Thanks for the video what parts did you use i bought a four seasons compressor im thinking of taking it back i not familiar with part brands help

That could be a clog in the system
Nice detailed video! You 2 did a great job videoing this! I see great success for this channel! Keep up the great work.
Thank You for the very informative video. Very good job.
Best video I have seen in years.
Thank you 😁, that's awesome to hear 🤙
Great video. Thanks. It was very helpful ......
Hey great video thanks but the link to your parts doesn’t work

I would check if your compressor is actually engaging the clutch when you turn on the AC, that will rule out the compressor or not
@@Snipeoff thanks for the reply, how would I find out if the clutch is being engaged or not by the compressor, what to look for?

I would say something is still wrong with the fan if it's only an issue while you're sitting still
Does your AC compressor spin now?

@@VictorTN is it an OEM clutch? I think that's at least the start of your issues?
@@VictorTN didn't mean to put a question mark at the end.
I'd be interested in the parts you all ordered. There is none shown in the link since that is just an expired shopping cart. Great video though!
Same here

I sure wish Dodge used that fan shroud on the '03s. Man is it a bear!
very helpful, thanks, still working?
Oh yeah, nice and cold 🥶
The Rock Auto Link does not show the parts, a list would be very helpful... Thank you
thanks!
What tool did you use to replace the drier?
It's an AC line disconnect tool, don't remember what size though unfortunately
Would not ’complete mean compressor also?
We did the compressor buddy 😅🤙
In fact that was the part that failed due to the fan clutch going out, so that was a necessity 👍
Complete a/c would include the EVAP core
You know, you're right, we just flushed ours 👍
Hi, I am interested in where you purchased the condenser?
Rock auto sir
@@Snipeoff thanks
You said see you next time, I’m kinda confused.... can you see me? I knew I should have taped my web cam!!
Oh no... of course not 😈
Your parts link no longer works, FYI
Compressor 8:00
No that's the accumulator there, the compressor is hanging on the bottom side of the block
Your Compressor says it uses PAG-46 NOT 100
