alcon IQ monofocal was my choice after much discussion with my doctor. Was -16 left eye, -12 right eye. wore contacts 30 years. Excellent vision. After surgery, could not be happier. 20/15 left eye,20/20 right eye. just use -2 readers. Am 68, had surgery 11 years ago. Had one Yag procedure. Amazing
Old type, but after being so nearsighed this is perfect. Would like to get an exchange for a more modern type, but it is not worth the risk after 12 years with this one. Do not want to get a retinal detachment
@@dennisschuller2593 If you are happy with the old type monofocal lenses, I think we can be happy with the new type monofocal lenses too. You are right about the second surgery.
@@iol-adviser Great news :-) Looking forward to it 🙂 So, do you have high hyperopia as well? (I am +6 in each eye). I remember you said in other video your eyes were short, but I thought you would have low/moderate hyperopia as high hyperopia is quite uncommon. I know very few people with significant hyperopia and none of them have a prescription close to mine 😕 (have astigmatism as well, btw)
Informative video. Can you say a little more about what IOLs have the best light transmission? Are Toric OK? Are LAL good for high myopic cases? I have myopia approx -9 and (per your video) have moderately bad floaters since age 50ish that I tolerate. Not sure if it might make sense to treat the floaters first (replace vitreous or laser). Does vitreous replacement make sense overall to improve the fluid clarity for the bigger myopic eyes?
Hi, having the corneal thickness of my 2 eyes at 480 microns, can I be eligible for transpKR having had a toxoplasmosis scar in the lower periphery 6 years ago pls, Is this not a contraindication to this refractive surgery at 23y? and what about wearing lenses? Thanks in advance Dr🙏
Dear, Aleksei, this video is very important for me as I’m highly myopic with astigmatism and about to choose the IOL for operation (-7.5, -8.5 now -11.5 and Cyl -2.00). The 1st surgeon offered RayOne EMV Toric, he is also a Vitreoretinal Surgeon, and does a lot of cataracts, he said I’m fine on the back of the eye but I thought it’s better to be safe than sorry and chose him for the surgery. He is confident in this IOL as he has got experience with it and it seems a popular brand around in clinics. He (1st surgeon) said that with a small scar on cornea which is not obstructive this is the best option for me. I’m seeing a 2nd specialist tomorrow. Could you please advice if I should push for PureSee or Luxsmart? I will ask him about it but his offer will also be based on the examination of my eyes. Or do you think if the first surgeon said that I’m better with enhanced monofocal after the eye investigation should I go for it? At the end of the day I’m highly myopic and there is no miracle. He said that other lenses may not give me a good vision especially on the right eye where the cataract is now and scar may attribute to the vision problem like 10%. Please reply as I would really appreciate your response. Thank you. You’ve been a good help for me through this process.

@@iol-adviser I have to make a decision today. I really needed the last tip on IOLs. I will see what the doctor says but it could be late with the call right now. After this appointment I will need to make a decision based on what the both surgeons offered. If I need some more clarity I will accept your offer. Thank you so much for all your help!
@@iol-adviserThey offered me PureSee ZEN00V Toric themselves, I didn’t even say a word. That’s what they started using. Now I’m really puzzled what to choose between this one and RayOne EMV Toric at another surgeon. Both surgeons are good. I’m getting so stressed and confused. Really don’t know what to do. Worried that I won’t get used to PureSee that it’s very advanced technology and I need something simple like RayOne. That PureSee will be too strong or something. I don’t know. PureSee doctor said that with RayOne I won’t be able to see piano books as I would with PureSee. Dear, Aleksei, are you planning to have a video about PureSee at some point?
@@iol-adviser Dear, Aleskei. Do you have in plans to make a video about PureSee ZEN00V to get more understanding about this lens? I was offered it and don’t know if to choose PureSee Toric or RayOne EMV Toric. I was offered both at different surgeons.
@@Rita50 yes, I plan to do this, but later. the lenses are totally different and it's strange that they offered as "similar solution" as mentioned earlier, I suggest to book a call to discuss, as comments discussion is limited by it's nature and the rules of my channel.
I have high myopia, -9, -9.5 . Light astigmatism. Doc recommended me Panoptic tonic lens. Which is a multi focal lens.Do you think that will fit ? Thank you for your reply
Discuss with your doctor the risks of refractive target and night vision. If in doubt consider my consultation to discuss other lens options to be discussed with your surgeon.
thanks for a great video...I got my cataract done a year ago and one eye has a grey shade at the focal point so I have peripheral vision but cannot see at the focal like if i look at your face from the eyes to the chin will be grey....my eyes were really bad before -14 but there was no grey block...kindly suggest what I should do
thank you for your feedback. regarding your question - I can't answer without knowing your medical diagnosis, and I'm not a doctor to suggest. generally it shall not be there. theoretically might be something on capsule, if that's related to IOL. I strongly recommend visiting your eye doctor to discuss.

That was a fantastic video. Very informative :-)
Would it be possible to make a similar video for diferent degrees of hyperopia instead? Thank you :-)
Thank you!
