I believe the comedian is Barry Humphries playing Sir Les Patterson (Thanks DowserDude!!!) on the Talk Show Michael Parkinson. Hope all you dog lovers, especially Schnauzer owners have a giggle.
Nearly pissed myself laughing at the punchline but it's also his delivery and the reaction of the other guests that makes this absolute gold. Farewell genius.
Yep, l can understand that!😂 My husband told me to watch this. First time l heard it, l roared up and so was my ol man watching me! In fact l roar up every time l watch this.
Never really warmed to Dame Edna (but I could see the appeal, and skill), but I agree, Sir Les Patterson was an incredibly rich creation, and Barry Humphries did so much more than lazily portray a slob. Sublime.
I love it when Barry Humphries speaks where ever he is, the audience is always dead silent cause you just know there's going to some gold nuggets and nobody wants to miss them.
To the Melbourne comedy festival organisers,,,,Shame on you,,!,,Barry Humphries was the greatest comedy genius ever to have graced Australia and the World,,,,and didn’t deserve your snub…rip Barry Humphries,,,,The world is a much poorer place without you…
Agree! The so called comedians in Melbourne who cancelled the Barry Awards are pathetic! IMO their "audience" would consist mainly of woke uni students who laugh on cue and/or canned laughter!
The entire comedy scene in the Western world is being shafted by humourless tw*ts beholden to the “cult of woke”. They’re at it all over the U.K. and especially in Scotland where they’ve just brought in a “hate speech” law which will ring the death knell to the Edinburgh Fringe. Humourless authoritarianism and comedy do not go together.
Here here couldn't put it better myself ! Absolutely brilliant comedien 1 that's irreplaceable! The British would never 4get him those feeds in Ozz didn't deserve him ! The funniest of the funniest that I will watch till I croak !
He was the best! And you couldn't do it any better! You see it coming but you don't know how! Under two minutes and I wet my pants! Unbelievable!!! R.I.P.!
It is sad. They have played a roll in my life, interesting interviews, and great comedy. I will certainly miss that from these two men. Fortunately it is committed to film for us to rewatch.
@@anthonyat2401 Well I am a poof so I could have been. But Parkinson wasn't as bad as you are making him out to be. What are you expectations? Or mores the point what have you done in your life?
This is a masterclass in delivery. Note the way he very cleverly engineered the the final line at precisely the moment when he had their attention in full without distracting laughter. Brilliant stuff.
R.I.P Barry Humphries (February 17, 1934 - April 22, 2023), aged 89 And R.I.P Sir Michael Parkinson (March 28, 1935 - August 16, 2023), aged 88 You both will be remembered as legends
Watching guests' and hosts' expressions wherever Barry was hosted was like watching a train wreck unfold - you know it's going to be horrible but it's impossible to either look away or not laugh! RIP big fella and thanks for the laughs.
What a comedic 'maestro'. We knew he was a genius when he was still with us but the old cliche...'you don't know what you've got, until you lose it' still seems to apply. I keep coming back to this gem now and then for a quick pick me up.
He was absolutely fabulous everytime you watched him as Les, especially. When this man passed away, they refused a State Funeral for him in Victoria, and it was the most insulting thing that they could ever have been done. I grew up watching him, and he did much for comedy in this country, but typical of today, you can't have a laugh in this place anymore, totally banned comedy, rather have people stand up and swear their heads off and thing it's humour.
Just superb storytelling from the master of his craft .. he was truly a genius .. I’ve watched this clip for years and still explode with mirth at the punchline .. simply 5 star gold .. RIP maestro ❤️
You have taken the words out of my mouth, i watch this at least once a month after forgetting about it. I've got my friends to sit and watch this, and told them NO TALKING. and within a week I could hear,,, CUS. SHE ALWAYS HAD A LOSE DENTURE. in the background of a noisy pub. Just the best delivery of a joke ever
Vale Barry Humphries. Someone being interviewed on ABC Radio recently recounted that Barry, as Dame Edna, was asked to do a short endorsement for Tasmanian cheese. It was recorded, but never went to air: "Ahh, Tassie. That bushy little triangle down there, where the cheese is so strong!"
Ian, I have to watch this at least once a month and have done for the past two years and I piss myself laughing every time. Its the delivery and that one time he looks up pulling a face that gets me. And to finish it off he repeats. THE HAIRS IN THE EAR OF THE DOG 🐕. one of the funniest jokes in my book. 👍👍👍
My favourite character of his, now sitting on that great celestial cheese board in the sky. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much at a joke!
What a brilliant study in comic writing. One word, just one perfect word, and we’re all tensed up to know where it’s going. “Loose denture” was beautiful, too.
Nearly pissed myself laughing at the punchline but it's also his delivery and the reaction of the other guests that makes this absolute gold. Farewell genius.
its pure a grade genius that joke
I'm in real physical pain from the punchline and the ensuing coughing fit. What a joke.
Yep, l can understand that!😂 My husband told me to watch this. First time l heard it, l roared up and so was my ol man watching me!
In fact l roar up every time l watch this.
A sad day indeed but the laughter will still continue. RIP Barry and thank you for bringing us such joy.
HERE HERE
He was my favourite character tbh. Dame Edna was great but Sir Les was gold!
Never really warmed to Dame Edna (but I could see the appeal, and skill), but I agree, Sir Les Patterson was an incredibly rich creation, and Barry Humphries did so much more than lazily portray a slob. Sublime.
It's amazing to think that a room full of writers at SNL can't make a joke but Barry did it on his own.
I love it when Barry Humphries speaks where ever he is, the audience is always dead silent cause you just know there's going to some gold nuggets and nobody wants to miss them.
Only Sir Les could have pulled that one off. What a classic.
To the Melbourne comedy festival organisers,,,,Shame on you,,!,,Barry Humphries was the greatest comedy genius ever to have graced Australia and the World,,,,and didn’t deserve your snub…rip Barry Humphries,,,,The world is a much poorer place without you…
Typical woke mentality of today I am afraid.
Indeed.. often no name unfunny comics who think they are better than they are.

Just watched this and haven't laughed so loud for a long
time - Martine's expression was classic !
Absolutely hilarious!
Her face was a picture. 😂
Two great legends who will be sorely missed....Parky and Barry. Thanks for the memories guys. R.I.P.
It is sad. They have played a roll in my life, interesting interviews, and great comedy. I will certainly miss that from these two men. Fortunately it is committed to film for us to rewatch.
Barry is sorely missed. Parkinson is dead too - no longer the luckiest talentless man alive.
@@anthonyat2401 It is also comedic that you are bitter about Parkinson.
@@kingy002 Don't be so silly. Sounds like you were his bum buddy.
@@anthonyat2401 Well I am a poof so I could have been. But Parkinson wasn't as bad as you are making him out to be. What are you expectations? Or mores the point what have you done in your life?
He made me laugh so hard on so many occasions. An Aussie legend. RIP Barry
I watch this every few weeks, and it always makes me laugh out loud. The man was a comic genius.
This is a masterclass in delivery. Note the way he very cleverly engineered the the final line at precisely the moment when he had their attention in full without distracting laughter. Brilliant stuff.
Actually he nearly fucked it up. He had to go back to the dog having hair in its ears and that was the reason it couldn't hear!
You can’t better that delivery. Supreme.
RIP Parky. Extraordinary guest facilitator.
RIP Bazza and Parky. Two legends never forgotten.
I've watched this every single day since BH passed away - and I cry with laughter every single time. The man was pure comedy gold.
R.I.P Barry Humphries (February 17, 1934 - April 22, 2023), aged 89
And
R.I.P Sir Michael Parkinson (March 28, 1935 - August 16, 2023), aged 88

For sure. He was a very, very funny guy with lots of hilarious characters.
The subtle intonation when he says Schnauzer makes this superb!
Always a great story teller , no matter which character
Absolutely brilliant, had never seen this one before, tears of laughter running down my face. RIP very funny man
Barry Humprhies at his best. A unique comedian and social satirist, the like of which we may never see again.
Watching guests' and hosts' expressions wherever Barry was hosted was like watching a train wreck unfold - you know it's going to be horrible but it's impossible to either look away or not laugh! RIP big fella and thanks for the laughs.
It has been an honor to be have been entertained by Sir Les. Rest in peace sir.
Impeccable timing sir les
Superb telling of a great joke.
A wicked sense of humor and the mind to keep up with it.

Genius! Thank you Barry. ❤
Immaculate comedy timing.
Two legends gone within weeks of other.
Classic Sir Les. There will mever be another Barry Humphries thats for sure!
Love this joke, so brilliantly simple & hilarious 😂😂
The delivery is 2nd to none
Love this Joke . R.I.P Sir Les . Barry..Your videos will keep us amused for years to come . Your comedy Genius lives on.
Les thanks for a great laugh. Best dog joke ever. You will be missed.
This makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it - which is often! Classic comedy story telling. 🙂

An Australian legend RIP Barry.
Thanks for the laughs, Barry. Rest well.
The joke was superb, but the timing was just perfection.
That's one of the funniest stories I've ever heard.
My favourite character of his, now sitting on that great celestial cheese board in the sky. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much at a joke!
Greatest comedian to ever live
What a legend. wonderful joke well told.
Brilliant joke and great delivery. Comic genius!
Oh no…just heard of the passing of Barry. Will never see the likes of Barry Humphries again. Thanks for all the laughs, Sir Les and Dame Edna.
He was bloody brilliant and very sadly missed.
One of the Top 5 gags of all time IMHO 🤣🤣🤣
A less happy and free world without Barry. RIP!
Always funny RIP Barry (Sir Les)
The best comic ever!
😂You want the best from Australia this man was it, in my world Sir Les Patterson.
Such a great talent and so sadly missed.
Excellent timing and delivery, superb.
Awesome. When comedy was funny.
Priceless! 😂😂
He was just brilliant! Miss him with his various characters. RIP
What a brilliant study in comic writing. One word, just one perfect word, and we’re all tensed up to know where it’s going.
“Loose denture” was beautiful, too.
He was just brilliant 😂 RIP Barry
You missed the end where Martine notices something in Sir Les' trousers...
Never forgotten.
Fantastic 😂😂
Sir Les Patterson, so close to the truth!
Thanks so much for this.
Les Patterson did save the world.
Comedy genius
As soon as Sir Les said Schnauzer, you could see Parky and the guests just dying to hear the punch line.
Whenever I need cheering up I always play Barry clips and end up in hysterics 🙂
Me as well 😂😂😂
Ahahahahaha 🤣 Sir Les was even more hilarious than Dame Edna 😄😄😄
I can’t stop watching this, best joke ever 😂😂😂
Absolute (ly - watch it) legend, you might have popped your clogs Les, but you'll keep us laughing forever RIP.
Comedy that actually makes you laugh...
How novel....
Absolute timeless genius!❤
If you don’t laugh at this , you are already dead.
Absolute genius!
The lady's reaction is priceless
He's reworked an old joke but of course it's done superbly
just discovered him hearing this joke too funny
Absolutely brilliant 😂😂😂👏👏👏👏
Faaark, he was so funny. RIP Barry.😭🇦🇺
The good old days when you could tell a joke without swearing,
Utter nonsense. Plenty of comedians still tell jokes without swearing. Besides swearing is only words that we ourselves attach too much meaning too.
What the fuck are you talking about?
the good old days when you could tell a joke and swear all you like😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hilarious, I didn’t see that coming!
RIP a comic genious.
Legendary Sir Les Patterson, God's speed to you😢
Dame edna was bloody clever and really well done, but always prefered Les Patterson "Australian cultural attache". Just brilliant!
Same .
@@markbeale7390 Agree. Sir Les was priceless.
So funny lol
Loved this guy😂😂😂
The hair in the ears of the dog. 😂😂😂
Very old joke, but a very good one. I've heard it told in many ways by many old school comics. Always good for a laugh.
A class act X 100 🙏❤️
You know it's going to be dangerous. Parky's eyes...
He picked the perfect breed
Ha ha I know 🤣
Back when being Australian larakin you could get away with anything even on British TV 😂😂
I wonder how many times has he told this in heaven 😂
You gotta love Sir Les... RIP.
