I have been driving trucks for nearly 26 years now and put almost 3 million miles behind the steering wheel. Diabetes is taking it all from me and the best part is i have a wonderful wife that has stood beside me the whole time. She is truly a proverbs 31: 10 woman. I will be hanging it up this weekend stepping out this truck this weekend for the last time and spending the rest of my life with my beautiful wife. God has been so good to me

Thank you for keeping the wheels rolling driver! As a CDL holder for 48 years now i have been everything from a company driver, owner operator, and small fleet owner so i really appreciate your years of dedication to a profession that doesnt often get much thanks. Just remember that you may leave trucking but it will never leave you!

Enjoy your remaining time with the ones you love, you have earned it.

Talked with a guy at a truckstop who was on his last run over the road for 51 years. Had on a new pair of boots, and I seen him climb up in the cab, gave me a wave, and bumped the horn for me. He talked about how excited he was to get back to his wife and move out of the rig. He said he was going to give his rig to his youngest son who wants his own rig for his 28th birthday. Just an all around great guy.

I would be lying if I told you that it got any easier, it doesn't. Just keep living, and remember your dad. Sounds like he was a good hardworking man.

I told him Thank you. He said for what? I said for making sure deliveries were on time. The poor guy about choked. Then said Nobody ever said that to me before. Thank you. He bought his stuff and him and his wife were back on the road. I didn't mean to make him cry. I just wanted him to know I appreciated him for the job he does for us. I lost one of my best friends on March 16th, 2024. She was a driver, as am I. We've both been in it long enough to be classified as ol' school drivers. We still use an Atlas, we did paper logs, and we ran manual trucks. We met only a few years ago, but our experience and experiences bonded us quickly. We talked for hours some days as we did our miles.
This song was played at her memorial service, and I was so emotional. I miss her dearly!!

As a driver I appreciate your support. It is a very unappreciated lifestyle. We leave our family, our home, and daily lives to stock the shelves. Unfortunately we are still looked at as being big slow and in the way of going nowhere fast. If only people knew just what it takes to be a driver, they might give us a little more room. But the unfortunate truth is as long as the shelves are full we are nothing more than a inconvenience

I just happen to find Kathy Mattea’s song 18 wheels and a dozen roses again it’s been close to 30 years since I last heard it play on radio takes me back growing up in the 1970’s when my dad was a trucker, a retired marine and a business owner before losing him in 2019 I can remember dad being gone for 2 sometimes 3 weeks in a row come home for a few days was gone again I miss you dad even as I got older getting to spend time with you out on the roads was always a high light of mine getting to drive your tractor in the different yards I enjoy my time with you no matter what we did years later getting to operate the family business along side you and my brothers was an honor wasn’t many family’s that had a landscaping company and all 3 of us kids worked along side you dad I still to this day am operating your company along side my one brother Charles and of course now we have 15 employees to do the work they were special times times that no one can ever take away from us I miss you dad I hope Charles and I have made you proud
Dad thank you for all you did for me for us
I know I’ll see you again until that day comes please just watch over us direct us in right way if possible

WE, the non-drivers of these big rigs don't realize how tough it is to do that type of work. Thinks about it, you really have to be alert at all times, not just your driving, the drunk on the road. I could never, ever be that focused, thus, I could never do it. But, hats off to those who can!!! Thank you!!!

Im lucky to live near Wisconsin Dells, which has the Crystal Grand Theater, as well as a local casino that gets country artists in quite a bit. I've gotten to see Neal McCoy, Clint Black, Gary Allan, Charley Pride, Scotty McCreery, LeAnn Rimes(before she went pop), Sawyer Brown, Diamond Rio, Ronnie Milsap, and a host of others. Thankfully, we have a lot of fairs too to go to. Im working my way through the list. Unfortunately some of them are dying off before I could see them, like Don Williams. It's why I'm trying to get to more older artists when they're in the area.

I really think the trucker who brings his love a dozen roses as a "thank you" for putting up with being alone so much, so often, is beautiful. She knows she'll get both him and a dozen roses. How sweet. They're just two kids in old bodies, holding hands like childhood sweethearts. They are.

It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our hearts…

my dad always talked of his shipboard days in WWII and the trip to Japan that was cancelled with the end of the war. The other talk was that of family and his trucking. That Jimmy V6 screaming, the boss giving him one dollar for fuel for a load and he soundly rejected, the time a rock set the air valve open and he ran a load of tomatoes out of the ozarks without brakes, hugging the tight curves and finally making the straightaway to see family. Then out for another turn.......................god bless him and all hard working Americans................
