  • Today we'll be showing how to remove, test and replace an air fuel sensor, aks a/f sensor, located at bank 1, sensor 1. This little sensor sends signals to the vehicle's computer which in turn controls how much fuel to spray in to the engine. This specific vehicle is a 2006 Acura TL. It's best to consult the repair manual specific to your vehicle. A list of trouble codes associated with this sensor is listed below.

    Immensely helpful and thorough. Saved me 300 bucks. 200 on labor and 100 on part. Acura branded o2 sensor (denso) is 180 and the exact same plug by the same manufacturer is 100. And I didn’t have to wait for service appt. Thank you.

    So the scan tool can also do the first step of checking the resistance? I dont have a multimeter thats whyz… also if u get any kind of miliamp reading from the scan tool that verifies ur 02 sensors are good?

  • @danp7463
    @danp7463 10 місяців тому

    That might work for testing the heating element inside of the O² sensor (two black wires). An O² sensor works between 0-1volt. Switch the meter to millivolts and pass a torch over the bulb end of the sensor. If the reading on your dvom is quick both up & down than the sensor is good. Also a bad heating element in an 0² sensor will set its own code.

    Bank 1 side isn't always the same on every vehicle. It varies by vehicle and in some cases by year. The rule-of-thumb isn't that it is always on the passenger side of the car or the side closest to the inside of the vehicle on sideway engines as are more cars these days. The true rule-of-thumb is that it is always on the side of the engine that houses the number one cylinder/piston. Especially on many vehicles of early 2000's and before, you can find such as Chevrolet engines that had bank on the driver side. It is true that on most cars built these days, have bank one on the passenger side

    • @TommyQuick

      Exactly. On my 98 blazer 4.3, bank 1 is on the drivers side where the #1 cylinder is located.

    Awesome vid great explanation. But I have a problem. I have a Toyota Yaris 2009 Tr 1.33 Petrol and I was driving normal on a rainy day and check engine light came on. It’s a P2196 Oxygen (A/F) Sensor signal stuck rich (Bank 1 Sensor 1). I don’t know why that code came on as my car drives fine, The rpms are all equal and balanced and not jumping up and down it runs smooth gives power like it’s been since I’ve owned the car basically drives like a dream but why did I get that code? Iv also checked the wiring and it’s all good. What i have done is iv cleared the code and drove it for a bit like 4 to 6 miles around town and I have not got engine light on yet. Do you think something is wrong like the sensor or anything?

  • @FOCUS-777

    Bank 1 sensor 1 refers to on V profile engines where you number 1 cylinder is at, per manufacturer, not necessarily fire wall location: Chevy generally #1 is at driver side, Ford passenger side, non transverse engines, Allways refer to your manufacturer spec's. Your diagnostics go in a wild goose chase if you get this wrong.

    Pretty easy to do on that car. It's the same as the accord V6. I'm pretty sure all of the j series (j30, j32,j35) are close to the same or pretty much the same. That Acura has a Honda j32 power plant, it is 100% a Honda motor with an Acura badge.

    OMG! So many errors! Air fuel ratio sensors are not specifically for codes P0133 P0134 and P0135 but for a Whole bunch of other DTC codes! Engine banks are not always in the arrangement you mentioned! Bank 1 is gonna be always where piston #1 is located at!

    All you are testing is the heater element in the sensor! You need to test the air/fuel ratio sensing function and that requires a scan tool. Stop making out like you know what you are talking about and misleading people. It's quite astounding that so many posts are thanking you.
