    Hey Jack. What do you recommend for a fairly stock 661 for fuel ration mixture. You say they run lean?

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  5 років тому +2

      Bryan hi. I guess it would depend upon which mix oil we are talking about.
      Not sure what fairly "stockly" means either.
      Oil holds in latent heat also. So mixing rich gets you a little more on that front as well.
      Add into the equation that the Factory says 50:1, and it's going to depend on with whom you are conversing with.
      Mix oil choice and ratio are probably the most contested positions in the saw world.....
      Thank for watching.

      hotsaws101 thanks Jack. I have a max flow filter and duel port muffler. I’m running the VP premix 50:1 now I was running the VP 40:1 but I switched to 50:1 it seams to run a little better. I’m running a 36”bar the saws mostly used for falling.

    Looks like the 661 beat the 066.

    WOW my mind is blown in 10sec, I'm understanding this correctly right you *intentionally* remove the mtronics from a 661? Why? I'd honestly wondered at "should I get an m-tronic, see what all this 'engine optimization beats human tuning all the time' is about?" but just hadn't *yet* so will say I'm almost baffled at what seems like intentional removal of what should be a 'smart system'? IF you're not wanting the m-tronics of a 661, then wouldn't you *always* be better starting with a 660, and putting the 56mm head on it? Stihl went to 56mm w/ the 661, but further over-squared the engine to 37mm stroke so displacement remained identical, but IMO that says Stihl wanted bigger piston surface/bore and sacrificed stroke to get it, so IF you're not wanting mtronics then the 660 would let you have that 40mm stroke (and just require swapping a new 56mm cyl/piston onto), and there's a "stroked 661" (LOL is that really much of a misnomer, calling it a stroked 661? Seems to be what it is, and I'm guessing Stihl cared more about going to 56mm, than about further over-squaring (IE they just did that so it'd be same total displacement, maybe their ideal would've been 56x39, we can only speculate, but - with 91cc to fit in there - they chose to go wider, and 660 w/ 56mm head lets you "get best of both worlds" so far as I can see!)

    I love cutting with my old flat top 66...cuts like a raped ape...have some newer 661's there okay...m tonic not such a big fan...stick with my 066 or a 394/395 Husky
    Also still have two 056 mag ll... their heavy but I think there alittle more torque in big wood then the 066....but there a lead shed...must eat my wheaties before using one ...thank you and God bless. Shoe

      Do you happen to know if the 056 pistons fit onto 066/660 connecting rods? Am curious for 56mm configuration but if any fit then they'll all fit, am like 90% sure they will but can't order a 56mm 056 piston (for my big bore 660) until I'm sure it will fit that con.rod, I am expecting to do work & ok w/ even running it single-ringed, just need it to fit the rod!

    I build a lot of 066 @660s I like your comparisons and you're willing to experiment with the saws thanks for letting out your knowledge and your time

      My Dad had the David Bradley model that was about 95cc and the manual said it had 5.8 hp.
      His was blue and white and very heavy, I may still have it in a box somewhere.

      Gabriel - Nope. When seen from above our Earth is mostly green.
      Nope. I enjoy flowers just as much as the next person. Besides, trees are one of the few renewable resources. And, as a side note, the most vibrant time for a forest is somewhere around the 25 to 65 year window.
      Thinking you live in a wood house and enjoy the use of paper products, especially toiletries, just as much as the rest of us.
      Hope your day is better.

      hotsaws101 Well the first part of that is ridiculous, cuz the earth is mostly blue, and even the Amazon is mostly brown and black with the fires and the cattle. If you want to act, or even if you believe, that humans aren’t destroying the world systematically and exponentially faster than it can heal, fine. I don’t really care anymore. I don’t have any kids. It does still surprise me.

      hotsaws101 That being said, I do really like your saws. And I should really figure out how to get my 201 fixed up. Also, I am the second owner of a really nice 044, and even tho its stock , it acts a lot like the six sixty I had before it.

      @@Gabriel_Moline - the landmasses, where the people habituate.
      Not sure how showing the differences between the operation and function of a couple of saws are running is acting like or believing anything. You have absolutely no idea what I think or believe since you never asked.
      Trees themselves are one of the ONLY renewable sources of production materials that there is. Everyone always forgets that part.
      You might be better served getting on the anti-mining campaign since those operations will destroy an entire MOUNTAIN in search of what some would call precious metals.
      Just sayn.

    • @Gabriel_Moline
      @Gabriel_Moline 5 років тому +1

      hotsaws101 Just an interpretation of your first comment. I agree about the mining, but like I said, I don’t really care anymore. Humans are a bacteria. They will make the host uninhabitable with their waste, and either die off or adapt. Just like a bacterium. So, it doesn’t really matter.
