I am honestly in love with this ship, to the point where I actually upgraded to one during the last IAE. It was here I realized that it was custom nameable, so I named it Eagle V (the Winabego from Spaceballs)

3.12 UPDATE: HP pool on the body has been reduced and the MSR has been given a Bigger Fuel Tank.

I have a feeling those compartments over the current bunks are Murphy Bunks as that seems to be a trend in their designs over multiple manufacturers. This would give 3-6 bunks which seems appropriate as this ship can handle basically 1-6 players. You have gameplay loops for Pilot, Copilot, Top Gunner, Bottom Gunner, Scanning Tech and Engineer. This is definitely the most versatile ship so far and it's why I own one. Once the scanning/hacking and data mining/trading gameplay gets implemented this ship will shine brighter than most in it's size range.

Worth noting that they are going to fix the fuel problems on the MSR in the new patch, so that should make it more manageable. Pretty fun ship and we won't have to feel as bad driving it around soon. Nice video and solid points!

@@RealBeamer uh, I think they did, haha. I haven't played in a while, but I'm pretty sure they upped the fuel capacity or lowered the fuel usage.
@@Brandon_Elizondo they upped the fuel capacity which isn't really a good fix since it just costs way too much to operate now...
This ship reminds me a lot of the Millennium Falcon, might be the first multicrew ship I go for.

This is one of my favorite ships in game currently. The Crusader ship design is my personal favorite of all the manufacturers. Have a C2 and the MSR in my fleet. The MSR being my daily driver and favorite ROC mining ship. Good video review!

Nice review of the MSR. I have one in my fleet, and I love it. Initially I was reluctant to get one, as I'm not really a fan of asymmetric designs, but the MSR grew on me. My first introduction to what the ship was like was with my Org members. The leader of the Org has one and he was looking for a crew to do some missions. He's a Twitch Streamer and I frequently fly with him while he streams. I joined his crew as a turret gunner and we did several claim jumper missions. Those turrets were quite capable of dealing with any threats and we successfully completed the missions while only taking minor damage in any of them. The shields were great at protecting the ship. After being with him on those missions, I made the jump to owning the ship for myself. It can handle plenty of cargo, and when data running comes into the game, it will be great as a money making option. At the time of release, the only real data running ship was the Herald. The only thing that makes it better at data running is it's speed, but it is limited to just data, and has no other options like the MSR. I'm never in any hurry, so the stock quantum engines are ok for me for now. One of the main complaints I have of the ship is the only way in is the ramp. Frankly, there really should be a second way in, like that elevator could go to the planet surface and be used to enter the ship. If you are landed in uneven ground, the ramp can be untenable for entry. Thanks for the review.

In my hangers we find a Carrack, Corsair, Freelancer MIS, and a Star Runner.. and I treat the Star Runner as my Captain's Yacht for pleasure cruises and guest events.

I own a lot of ships but if I was forced to only have one then it would be the MSR. The most common objection to it is that it takes too long to reach the cockpit with all those doors but I did several time trials against my other ships and it takes almost the same time from outside to starting the engines as the RAFT and is actually about 5-6 seconds faster than my 400i whatever entrance you use. It is great for planetside mining as it will fit two ROCs easily and more importantly it just looks so good inside and flies nicely. Obviously its cargo capacity is great for earning money and as a person who avoids combat wherever possible, the acceleration and top speed is very useful for getting that cargo to market despite the best efforts of pirates.
It's a true versatile ship!
I really like my Star Runner. I melted several smaller ships to get it, and I'm glad I did. When the trade terminals get fixed it will be even better. Cargo running is brutal at the moment.

The MSR is a solid ship, just took one for a test drive during the IAC, I might actually throw down real cash. Also: Bummed they got rid of the artificial horizon/landing path in the updates since this video.

Like many, I love this ship. It has many things going for it, and a few that could really stand a change - some small, others less so.
The purpose of an elevator in the cargo area is questionable, where it easily could have been a short flight of stairs that would be invulnerable to typical elevator bugs. The only reason I can fathom for the elevator is for when data running becomes a playable mechanic and you have to haul databanks from the main deck to the cargo area, but again, stairs are better.
I really appreciate the light switches, but there should be at least one switch - probably in the cockpit - that allows you to turn ALL the lights on or off at a flick.
The recreation area is simple, well laid out and mostly comfortable. I say mostly because the poor sod who has to stand while playing a game of chess should feel very put out. Give that side of the table a chair!
I can understand the desire to design a specific engineering space, and it is convenient to have all your components in one location, but having such a critical area accessible directly from the only entrance to the ship is a poor design from a security standpoint.
So, all-in-all, The MSR is fantastic, but I would have liked to see the above design elements better implemented.

I have one and love how nimble it is. My Max is gathering dust. It does have a bug - it will fall through the planet if the engines are turned off. Regarding the operating costs, I try to stay away from the big planets and stick to the moons with less gravity and try to avoid accelerating. This helps with fuels costs.

Did a mock dogfight just pilot guns with me in the msr vs a mate in the lancer max and she's heavenly to fly.
Barely took any damage but was able to score the win
I love Jeffries tubes! I’ve flown it before on free flies but I’m seriously considering this as my main ship, upgrade from the Cutlass…mainly want for a couple of ground vehicles and some SCU space…great video and really helpful
The only minor frustration as a daily driver is how long it takes to get to the cockpit - if it had an Avenger style ladder up front, it would feel so much nicer to use a lot
@@Farrister Got to try it again in the Free Fly, i've changed my mind, i thought the cargo bay was bigger and i'd get more vehicles in...I think i'll stick with my Cutlass for ROC mining, and work up towards a Caterpillar, by the time i've got enough to buy the CAT in game, i'm sure trading will have been revolutionised! :)

I'd like some windows, an elevator to enter the ship and some better utilized spaces, like the huge wasted space in the scanning room and corridor leading to the deck, they could use it for escape pods and the elevator entrance just as an idea. Also, the engineering room on the left could leard a bit of two from the Argo Raft imo.

Yeah i just wish you could buy it in-game. Im very into star citizen but im a teen so i couldnt get a job that pays well enough for me to spend almost 300 dollars on one ship in an unfinished video game.
@@lukeklo long term I'd expect this to become available, they're usually just a little slower to add newly released ships for purchase (because they want people to spend hard cash) :(

I'll have this beautiful ship tomorrow. It will be my main ship as I am looking for a ship that performs strong in the scanning job and with a dedicated scanning seat and such a beautiful distribution it offers so many customization options.
There are bigger and better ships in this game probably. But I am in love with this one.
Upgrading tomorrow from Mantis to MSR. The only thing I really miss is an all-black paint. The only one is black-blue but that will do for now.

If I had to compare it to an Old Republic Era ship, to me it's a bit more of an Ebon Hawk from KOTOR, or the XS Stock light freighter from SWTOR. I suppose it is a bit cleaner and brighter, like the Endar Spire. But after playing SWTOR for so long, I'm used to its crash site on Taris.
It was the looks of the Endar Spire, but from a size point it's much closer to the Ebon Hawk.
She's not so thirsty anymore, they fixed the Fuel Drain :)

The bespoke hiding spots would also have to be secretive. As in not ever brought up by CIG in any capacity. It would be a neat little feature that players will/should find for themselves and use to their advantage accordingly

@@Farrister Agreed. However if Cig gave a basic level of security to the hiding spots.. eg: non registered crew could not open the hatches and had to blast open the locks or use a multi-tool cutter on the locks would make it super awesome.
Engineering room is a misnomer. Should just say component access since there is no MFD panels to do any "engineering".
Wish the secret tunnels had been full "ctrl" crouch sized instead of just slightly hunched full speed run sized. Would have slimmed down the ship by half a meter also.
Yeah... and yeah lol "engineering" as all the good scifi engineers just sit and drink coffee
I was mostly curious why this ship, as chunky and huge as it is ( compared to the connie) only had 2 size 2 shields. With the recent change to size 2 shields and the size of the vehicle, they just don't last like they feel like they should now.
Still keeping the ship, just going to be leaning towards running than fighting anyways.
She's certainly fast though :D
@@Farrister in space for sure, wish I could get a bit more speed out of it while in atmosphere, just a bit too slow to pretend to be a data runner when you are trying to get away from something while in atmosphere

Clearly inspired by the YT-1300 _Millennium Falcon_ , albeit with a very distinctly star citizen aesthetic. I took this for a spin this during this weeks free fly event and was surprised by its seemingly wasted space interior. Needless to say i completely missed the smuggling compartments.

It's actually an old feature, nowadays there are fewer restrictions. When this was recorded, you had to follow strict routes into landing zones :(

Is it just me or do you guys have a cockpit glitch with the MSR? When you get out of the cockpit chair you phase through the glass. Is there a way to fix this?

Not a ship to just fly around in with the fuel costs. Gonna have to be making money with it. Hopefully, when data running comes in, we will be able to run data AND cargo to offset the operating expenses.

Website is claiming that the mass of the MSR is the same as the mass of a caterpillar or 600i. that explains how fast, tough, and thirsty it is.

@@Farrister I agree to an extent. The MSR/Cutty will be my taxi ship/daily driver. Neither are well suited to combat unfortunately.
The MSR SHOULD NOT be nerfed!
I can't stress this enough. Its the most expensive ship out of all competitors of this category and most importantly it has the worst combat capabilities out of all medium ships. Speed maneuverability and the flashy interior are key characteristics of this ship. CIG better keep it as it is. I would rather prefer that they buff competitor ships instead of nerfing the MSR.

Scythe is bugged...when retracting the gear the wings unfold...and instantly snap back in folding position again....wich is annoying !

It depends on your plans - what do you do in game? Imo the MSR is a more versatile platform, BUT at extra price, and much more in need of extra crew

I think all these multi crew ships are WAY overrated... Games like this live on the fantasy (and SC even more so with not much gameplay as of yet... after 9 years!) of being a ship captain and flying around, doing stuff... To need 2 friends to, basically, donate their own time, ambitions and ingame fantasies to your efforts is a HUGE ask... I don't see how this is meant to work long term... 1/5 of dudes are pilots while 4/5 are drone-slogging it in turrets and the like? Not in a million years...
I dunno, I quite enjoy crewing a ship with my friends
