    I tried this technique and it works great! Just be sure your socket fits tightly on the extension. You don't want a red hot socket slipping off the extension and landing on your new carpet. Ask me how I know!

    Good job! An old soldiering iron works too! Always hot and ready to burn right through the carpet when warmed up.

    Use a soldering iron, makes perfect size hole , no flame, no nail , no hot extension or socket to hold. Perfect size, place in holder when not in use.

    Gonna be installing new carpet in my 1966 chevelle, this definitely is a much better idea then cutting a X and getting fluff and stuff everywhere! Eager to try this

    Thanks for the great video and how too. I am doing the exact same job on a Chevelle and wondered the best way to make seat bolt holes with out fraying the carpet.

    Electrical Metal Tubing (EMT), makes a very good burner. Use pieces about a foot long and wrap one end with a good rag.

    Don't forget to watch for wiring that could get damaged.

    Can I ask where the carpet is from?
    Or if there’s a specific company you recommend that does custom carpets for a car

    What I got to know is why is your propane bottle the same color as a fire extinguisher?

    • @nicwaymire

      It's oxygen not propane

    • @rockspoon6528
      @rockspoon6528 10 місяців тому

      @@nicwaymire That is most definitely propane and not oxygen. He even calls it propane multiple times in the video.
