Stromae's father was killed in the Rwandan genocide. His mum lied to him and told him he was away working coz she didn't feel able to tell him the truth
when Stromae was 9 he's dad died in the Rwanda war, his mother then lied to him for almost a decade saying that he's dad is just workin, the dancing part is to mean that these mothers/fathers are dancing with their sons/daughters and the kid wants to dance with his dad but he's dad sent really there.
Fun fact Stromae worked with Billie Eilish on the music video of “Hostage”, you should definitely check out his song “Formidable” I’m sure you’ll love it, great reaction by the way !
I’m Belgian : Stromae and Angele are the two Belgian artists I love. Their lyrics are brilliant, smart and deep. Because they sing in French makes them more complicated to get the international credits they deserve. Their songs are catchy but sad. I hope you enjoy !
Poor apple, it is precisely because he sings in French that he has this fame. And that France gave him a springboard, like most Belgian artists. His last album sold around 3 million albums. including more than 2 million in France, you know what I mean? Faut pas cracher dans la soupe.
Hey friend, i love this song. This song is based on his relation with his dad, he only saw his father about 5 times in his life. It's sad. React to "Tous les memes - Stromae" this song is awesomeeee, the visuals as well. You're going to like it. Beijos!
By the way, if you're interested in some french music. Listen to Angèle, this girl is insane! I recommend Angèle - Balance Ton Quoi and Angèle - Ta Reine | A COLORS SHOW.
Ugh. I am reading about this now. It says his dad died in the 90's during the genocide. This is crazy. :( This is so upbeat and catchy for the topic! Will absolutely do soon! I am really liking this fellow! Thank you so much for watching! :) Ah, muito obrigado! Espero que você esteja bem!
Stromae is literally a GENIUS. I knew this song, but then my French teacher taught me more songs like Tous Les Mêmes for example, highly recommended, and I thought it was incredible. He was also involved in Hostage's mv, he said he really likes Billie's work hehe. Also, "Où est ton papa?" Is not saying Where is dad literally, it's a kind of pun on French more or less. Good video as always
This man is his father whom Stromae had never met, killed in the Rwanda genocide. He later, at the end of a tour, went to Rwanda on the last phase of his tour and for the first time spoke about his father. Very sad story. After this lengthy tour, Stromae had a burn out after 200 concerts in 2 years. Apparently he is bringing out a new record - thank heavens to get new material from this genius.
Yes! I discovered this through the Pentatonix version. This video is so visually stunning. The dancing is really great. I'm also glad it has the captions. Every video should. Now, onto the Pentatonix version! 🤣
You keep saying that you don't know but we can all agreed that you do know!!! At 2:18 of the video, you can see the kid watching, through the windows, 2 groupe of dancer, 1 father and son dressed very cute, working and helping eachother, and onether dancer where the father beats his son... In both way, they are given them attention, for a kid that mean everything for him to grow without emotionnel disorder. So he's having a dad but it don't feels like he's caring about him, growing up without a father or with a father is the same pain if he's doesn't love you and giving you attention that you need, So then the circle repeats himself. I can feel the anger in the beat and in his voice and in choreagraphy. Everybody fight about Stromae, French people say that he's french cause he's talking french and belgium people said that he's belge.. well cause HE IS BELGE he is from Belgium... I'm so glad that you do European Music (nobody gets offended in that way lol) , you should definitly check on some french and UK music!!
They thought of using a mannequin and CGI but in the end they felt it did not work so it is really Stromae the whole time. From the director of the clip ""On a réfléchi à faire une poupée avec des effets spéciaux. Finalement, on a décidé que cela fonctionnerait mieux si on le faisait en vrai. Alors c'est lui qui joue la poupée."
Hello, hello! The dad of the kid is in a way there, but he's not a good dad, not one that he knows a lot about, which makes him seem 'stiff'. In the end, the kid being brought up by this bad father ends up more like him. I love the song a lot, I relate to the song a lot and the dancing is absolutely sick, as well as the colors. So glad you reacted to it!
It's always a pleasure to hear an American acknowledge that outside America, people play Football not Socc..*cough *cough Pour ceux qui connaissent le Foot2rue. k, so about that song : Good intuition about that song being about personal stuff, Stromae is indeed talking about his own father. He was killed in the Rwanda genocide, but he actually abandonned Stromae family a long time before that (Stromae saw him just a few times, and suffered more from the abandon part than from the actual death). The mannequin IS a mannequin, they just switch with stromae for the dance part, so no #MannequinSkill :P And about that mannequin, well i feel you can see it in a lot of different ways. Thats one thing i like about Stromae, there is a lot left to interpretation (especially if you speak the language lol)... But as I see it : the mannequin IS the absence of the father. Because its such a weight, its almost physical. Hes not here, but that doesnt stop the kid to think about him all the time. Its a burden, and he cant get rid of it. Through the song, you can see a lot of kid/parent duo having their own dance : it represent the way parents educates the kids (for exemple the guy being REALLY oppressive/controling with his kid). And Stromae-kid? Well, he doesnt have that, and you can see him dreaming about having some way to connect with his father (hence the dance part), but in the end, the father is still a mannequin, never really here. And its a kind of education on his own... Sorry if my english is weird, bisous de france :)
Hello Jodie. Awesome! Haha we got ya! Welcome! It's been awesome opening myself up to new stuff I probably wouldn't of heard before! I pretty much specifically try to listen to what you folks want me to check out! Good to have you! 😎
Stromae grew up without a father, his father never recognized him then got killed in a genocide in Rwanda, it's a really sad part of his life i guess, this man is a true artist that i love and respect so much, please check "formidable" and "tous les mêmes"
It is about a missing father. The soccer is the activity/sport to do with his dad, but it is a statue, metaphor of his absence. Papaoute means "where are you daddy". It is autobiographical to Paul whose father was absent.
He has great lyrics and makes a lot of pun. He plays with words. The translation won't show you that but it's cool you put them on. He has a song about cancer and it's also genius if you'd like to hear it. There is the link ua-cam.com/video/8aJw4chksqM/v-deo.html
Btw, stomae makes also his own clothes, they are very particular print and shape. His wife is also a clothes designer. Coming back to his father, he was brought up by his white Belgium mun being a mixed raced kid, there is another thought provoking song about race and not belonging here or there" " ni l'un ni l'autre" where he call himself ironically bastard". A must see !
That what i called a real good reaction. You try to understand deeply and you analyse. Stromae is a real artiste, with a true identity. I think the next stepp for you is to react to "Tous les mêmes" and after "ta fête". If you want to react to "Ave Cesaria" you have to read before a short biography of Cesaria Evora, she was a famouse Singer from Cape Verde. For me the ultmate Stromae song is "Defiler" but you need to find the subtitles somewhere else, they are not on the video. Cheers from Switzerland bro
Hii! You should have a look at quand c'est - the video is visually stunning but unbelievably horrifying at the same time😂 you‘ll know what I’m talking about, I dont know if it is personal preference but this song hit me with emotions like no song has before That’s honestly why I take him for such a marvelous artist.
I love your videos so much... Could you please react to Pentatonix they're an acapella group that do covers and sometimes original songs could you please react to their daft punk melody or literally any if their songs they are soooo gooood

His father died in the Rowanda war. 🙏
Stromae's father was killed in the Rwandan genocide. His mum lied to him and told him he was away working coz she didn't feel able to tell him the truth
Comment ça se fais que j'ai la flemme de me lever de mon lit mais que je n'ai pas la flemme de m'abonner ???
Stromae's father has been killed in a genocide in Africa. He never met his father
and his mom told lied to him saying that he was working
He met his father just a few time .. But never officially recognized him.
Actually, he abandoned his family previous to disappearing :(
Fun fact Stromae = Maestro
when Stromae was 9 he's dad died in the Rwanda war, his mother then lied to him for almost a decade saying that he's dad is just workin, the dancing part is to mean that these mothers/fathers are dancing with their sons/daughters and the kid wants to dance with his dad but he's dad sent really there.
