The song is mostly about a missing Father as Stromae lost his Father when he was very young but he did not learn the truth till he was much older like 18+ his was Father was Murdered in the Rwandan Genocide. As for your he did not make it over here, He has toured all over the world and his first DVD was filmed in La Centre Bell Montréal,
We're all missing fathers... So I am, so your are. Dead or alive. So difficult to be father....😢😢😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤ Love my sons, they love me, I think...😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
thanks for the reaction. Stromae is such a big performer with so emotional lyrics. Take a look (with the lyrics on) at L'enfer, Quand C'est, Formidable, Tous les memes, Santé and so much more
There's an expression in French... "Père manquant, fils manqué" wich can be roughly translated to "Missing dad, messed son". Pretty much resumes the whole song.
@@olivierclaverie6722 As a kid from the 70's. I can attest that I have heard that. Fortunately I was aware of the fu..ry in the 90's. So I grew up to it.
2:31 Congrats on discovering the right description of our Belgian genius his music so fast. His other (popular) songs are all visual and lyrical masterpieces. From popular to less: L'enfer, Tous les memes, Formidable, Santé, Fils de joie. Less popular with the big crowd but very very very powerful is Quand c'est, a must see. His most popular song (also on tiktok) is Alors on danse, but maybe too popular to react too as next.
Also, the other main problem with "Alors on danse", is that it isn't easy to find a video with English subtitles of it, especially as the official video might be the only video of Stromae's that doesn't have English subtitles.
Hello. Wow! this song is from 2013 I've known this since and thanks to you I understand that it was his imagination when he danced with his father 😮 Never too late lol.
I realy like your comments, this is the nearest explaination that i ever heard from american people. Dogs don't give birth to cats, all the lyrics are deeps in that song. May god bless you two.
The video is about Stromae's actual father and how he was absent in his life even before he died in the Rwandan Genocide and Stromae is questioning himself on how to become a good father when he has a kid of his own, even though he had no father to learn from because he was to busy with his other family to bother with Stromae and so he became like his dad in the end of the video absent which is very sad.
Growing up in an emotionally and physically abusive household, i decided that i will raise myself. Luckily i had family members who raised their children in non hostile environment. That showed me that my reality is not the only option. İ tagged along with female relatives of my mother's age. Not the same thing as mom but you can at least feel safe around them. That's how i dealt with my family's influence. İ isolated and looked for role models outside
Curious what languages you learn in school, I presume at least Spanish (and English obviously). A bit strange you cannot recognize French, but it is what it is. My nephew of 11 already has learned three languages in school, including English. (Native Dutch). I understand this might feel like criticism, but that is not my intention. However French is a very important language for English, considering how many interactions there have been between the languages, and how many words are similar in both languages. Plus French is an important language in both the USA and obviously Canada.
thought provoking indeed! also, just an idea, the parent might be suffering from some kind of physical or mental illness: not being able to be there for his child the same way other parents do, he is in a way absent and this could be at different levels. the child knows it's not anyone's fault, dad just can't; but he still misses him. papaoutai has always hit me so strong and deep. beautiful music and melodies as well, a touch of melancholy that fits the theme. i would love to see the 2 of you react together to another music video by stromae: the song is called 'tous les mêmes', i'll search for a link to it. turn on the subtitles, but also pay attention to the video - pretty cool way to get out some stuff that needed to be said 💕 quite liberating and full of talent - here's the video ua-cam.com/video/CAMWdvo71ls/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared enjoy!
Ok, you got some of it. The mannequin was Stromae (with makeup etc to make him look unreal), never even existed in the video. The dancing (super cool I have to say) was always mom and daughter or father and son. He (the son) got nothing of it... and hold on... where is the mom ? (I will let you think about that hehe). Great artist !
8:21 in (after the music video). How can you get it so wrong ? White and black ? Step dad etc ? Get a night sleep and reset your brain please. Ok, the video is not finished yet so I will watch the rest but you didn't make me wanting to. Stromae (meaning in french "verlent", Maestro), is a Belgium artist (close to a genius)

😢He sings about the devastating moment about his father. Stromae unfortunately lost his father during the Rwanda Genocide
Thanks for sharing that knowledge!
This song is so heartbreaking. Thanks for giving it a try ❤
Great reaction! That said, how can one not recognize the French language? A true mystery to me.
She has interpretation right. Only sad part is: the boy becomes just like his dad, in the end.
