Filming your shadow on the landscape, something you do quite often. It is a great metaphor for the way you interact with nature - moving like a 'ghost' over the landscape, doing no damage, mostly silent, leaving no marks, barely there. That image, your shadow on a bed of moss or frozen lake ice, could be a good "icon" for what you do. It certainly sums up a whole philosophy of how to "be" in the free nature - "be" there like a ghost, when we leave, leave no damage behind us.
You have an awesome ability to communicate to us - the viewers - the peace and tranquility from your place beside the campfire. I still haven't seen anyone else at your level!
Ahhh - being alone in nature with the wind, sounds of the fire, looking at the wind blowing against the trees while enjoying a delicious meal and hot coffee!! Danke je
Truly, it is the quality of the unadulterated soundscape that you capture which steals the show in each video. I really look forward to each new video you post - they are simply a joy to watch and to listen to.
Love your videos. I just came back from a solo trip with my dog in the White Mountain wilderness of New Mexico. You inspired me to go solo , usually I take one of my daughters when they are back from school. I am planning a winter solo trip soon. Outstanding content as usual.
Great video Erik, it won't be long now. I heard the first tell tail sounds of winter today, that icy tinkle of sleet blowing against my window. Love the scenery and the serenity you capture in each of your videos. Cheers Tom.
I own afew air pads but I see the foam composite one your using is super versatile..I've ssen you us it as a seat to sit on & to just simply rest on...I gottah purchase one soon for myself.thanks👍
Thank you for relaxing and not talking. I get so tired of people talking to the camera. I just want to be in the moment. Sometimes I have the desire for talking but...95% of the time..i don't. Thx again.
The weather in Korea is getting colder these days. So... The scene and sound of red charcoal burning in your camp fire video is really art. Late time of day which is tired body and mind of mine... It's comforting to watch this clip. Thanks Erik~ ps. The shadow ending in the last scene is cool and romantic. You look very good at planning videos. :)
What a great Video... especially the Campfire a the blue light in the background. It makes me feel good to see, that I am not the only freaky man are, who´s to be in the woods. Greetings from Waldläufer Xtrem
Marvelous ! it changes my whole day, Just think about all the towsen of people watching in there concrete citys. appartement block , gouing to work at the factories, home back to the concrete block,s watching TV , then you come along and change all of that for a small moment, like me lets say, in hospital all the time, i would have share that meal anytime twice on sunday coz the food in hospital is deacent, not more, i would have sugested you to grill them fine sausiges. any way it was a great adventure very relaxing (love the shot whit the hands over the fire)
Hey Erik, how are you? I am so impressed by your talent . . . I think this is my favorite of the the videos I've seen. You've captured the perfection of sitting at the fire wrapped in the stygian blackness of the night, laying near the warmth of the flickering embers, listening to the whispering trees, occasional squeak or birdcall, looking at the night sky and contemplating the immensity of it all. A lesson in humility. What were you conjuring over the fire at 08:30 :) Thank you for this . . . Donna ps: I don't like to cook but I'm always hungry; feel free to come to Maine and cook sausages and potatoes for me anytime ;)) Happy Halloween :) 09:30
Hey Donna! Thanks I'm doing fine :) Glad you like this one. I like it too but have realized it's impossible to anticipate a specific videos popularity. I just make them, upload and hope for the best... lol. I don' t often cook in my vids, not much of a cook myself, but sausages with potatoes I know how to do. I'd be happy to share them with you :D
Great video, as usuall! Why are campfires so hypnotizing? Was this filmed this past weekend? It was so warm on Sunday! 16 degrees in Hemavan. My wife and I were in the woods and found lots of piggsopp and some remaining chanterelle mushrooms.
Hi Erik, I too do some lone over nighters here I Aust . Some times when I go out into the wilderness and remote rainforest areas, I get a bit spooked for a brief moment , especially at night . Does that ever happen to you when out alone ?
Sounds of parrots, wrens, kookaburras, magpies, crows, rosellas, honey eaters and other birds at dusk and dawn is a highlight of camping alone in Australia. If only we had such beautiful mountains as the Sierras too!
Do you guys take a handgun or anything for protection out there? Not sure what the wildlife is like there but here in Canada I would have to I believe as there's lots of bears!
I really enjoy your videos, and share your opinion about sacred morning coffee, but (in my opinion) you carry so much gear! notwithstanding that you have video equipment. Ultralight!
In Norway there is a general ban for campfires between 15.april-15.september. Just use common sense and take care and it's fine, in my opinion. Sometimes it's outright irresponsible to start a campfire and sometimes you are in no/minimal risk of making a forest fire.
Thank you for answer. It is prohibited in all seasons. My country is prohibited to use the burner in the forest. It is also forbidden to take lighters from the forest. My country is South Korea.

Sausage, potatoes and carrots over a open fire in the wilderness, it doesn’t get any better than that, 2 thumbs up from Wisconsin, USA !
Me Too -
You have an awesome ability to communicate to us - the viewers - the peace and tranquility from your place beside the campfire. I still haven't seen anyone else at your level!
How sweet it is! Some solitude, the sound of the wind in the trees! You found a piece of heaven Erik!

Truly, it is the quality of the unadulterated soundscape that you capture which steals the show in each video. I really look forward to each new video you post - they are simply a joy to watch and to listen to.

Erik, Are bears or other large mammals living in this forest???
There are bears, but they are not common and they are very shy so you wont see them.
No morning coffee???
I really enjoy your videos, and share your opinion about sacred morning coffee, but (in my opinion) you carry so much gear! notwithstanding that you have video equipment. Ultralight!
I looked more than it was this trip, but I have a feeling I always carry more on short trips than on longer trips.
Yeah, it’s real hard to strip the weight down. Cheers from Korea!
