Great video! I wish I took a photo of the first pair I ever saw back in 2014. They looked ridiculous, much like what you show. Back then I remember them looking so unusually large compared to what else was on the market plus the new fashion those days of the bright colors which I wasn’t on board with at the time. I turned them down at the running store but 6 mos later they came out with the Clifton and I got my first pair. Ever since, I only buy Hoka. I loved learning the history behind the shoe. Thank you so much!
Thank you for your brilliant story Susan! You had to have been quite brave to be one of HOKA’s early adopters, needless to say you beat everyone else to the trend!
Im a casual runner from Kenya and have owned Addidas Ultra Boosts and all types of Nikes for my runs. However during the Nairobi City Marathon that took place on 02.07.23 I swtched to Hokas (Cliftons) by way of a friend recommendation run a PB in the Half Marathon! So comfortable! had fun the whole way and honestly felt like I could another 21k!!!...The next morning I ordered the Speed Goats that I now wear on my everyday running Im honestly looking to add another dailly trainer the Rincons this month!
Great video! Hoka are my favorite walking and running shoes now. I can run and walk further with less tired feet. I wish Hoka would do away with the clown colors; Other than that they have some of the best shoes on the market.
I loveeeee this brand. I have 6 pair. This brand is the only brand that I buy now. I kicked adidas to the curb, that was once my favorite brand. But I do a lot of walking and I don’t like flat I need more of a chunky sole that has lets of cushion. Some are more trendy then others but all of mine are more on the trendy side. I try to pick out nice simple colors. Not so much those bright colors. But all n all this is my favorite brand.
Beautiful. Can you do a similar video on Brooks, please?
Thanks for the idea :)
Is the video out on Brooks?
Great video! I love Hoka for walking, but not sure its benefit for forefoot runners.
I can imagine Hoka useful in downhill terrain runs, but would imagine forefoot runners may have to greatly adapt to these.
What concerns me, and Hoka isn't alone in this concern by any stretch whatsoever, is that Hoka shoes are primarily made in China and Vietnam. It's following the common trend of exporting its manufacturing to Asia. The brand also uses factories in Cambodia, the Dominican Republic, and the Philippines. I worry about the people that are used to put these brands together and our lack of concern for the human rights of those individuals when they are exploited.
I would go as far as saying 80% of all running footwear comes from South East Asia. Labor cost + expertise + export laws + close proximity to raw material make these areas the most affordable. I can't comment on working conditions, but there have been some horror stories in the past. Your bigger brands most likely are no longer involved in these stories. Trade unions have a bigger impact nowadays.
Are you going to buy a $300 shoe that’s made in America?
@@madmax6654 , with the way inflation is, I wouldn't be surprised if quality shoes are getting to that price point anyhow. Made in America used to be a thing. Shoes, clothes, hats, are all made overseas largely. The public makes a big outcry about human rights and other causes, but stays silent on this front. I pay close to $200 for my hokas. I like them. Made in America for $300. It would be up to the consumers to decide. I would probably be out. Their suits would have to take a hair cut and become more efficient. Compete. To get that price down, within the frame work of Made in America.
@@mikekujawagvsu thank you for your response and I agree with you 100%. I think that it’s possible to have a lot of these products built in America. With decent wages and a competitive sale point but I think American companies have gotten really greedy and expect huge profits for the top-tier people and they don’t wanna let that go. I’m not saying being rich and making money is not good but I’m thinking how many big mansions do you need? Anyways, I got off point I think bottom line it’s just as American greed for big profits.
As a runner ? I couldnt care less give me comfortable shoe from Mars I will buy and run in it
What's the brand name & model no. of the shoe (blue color) on the shelf
over your head ?
Salomon Sense Ride 4
@@runningshoegeek Thanks Brother. is it suitable for summer?
As like in 37-38° temperature?
Asking to know from south asia.
The brand does not have everyone covered. I have never, on the many attempts, put my foot in one without feeling very uncomfortable. They have a crap last for me.
The brand has all types of runners covered, not necessarily everyone’s preference.
@@runningshoegeek perhaps we have a terminology difference. Personally I if desire to purchase a product, in this case these shoes, of any model, they are MY preference. I have indeed keenly desired to purchase them for several reasons therefore I consider them to have been strongly preferred over other brands. And again, I put them on and my average size foot in length and width, 43-9ish, is in immediate discomfort due to the narrow forefoot. I will continue to try new models of this brand of preference in the hope that they can be at least for me too, if not everyone.
@@hair2050 have you found any you like since? Or what shoes do you like as I find my Hokas far comfier than any other brands
@@sirsausagedog4162 hi. Ironically I again put my foot in some hoka two days ago. It was immediate. Everything was wrong 😑. No I haven’t found anything good. Just keep trying I guess.
@@hair2050 for me I can't wear Asics shoes, none of them. Guess some brands just don't work at all for some people
