I work at an assisted living on Long Island and I played the song for the residents. It's funny how it popped in my head. 😊😅
I bet they loved you for it..
Ayyye fellow Long Islander! Suffolk county here
I live in Nassau county but I grew up in Suffolk county.
As a Black teen girl this was my first album purchase. I admired her songwriting skills, vocals and she could play the piano! I would sashay around the living room with the brush/broom - as a mic - singing all of her songs. All the while… envisioning Carole accompanying me on the piano- the sofa. Always, thanks for the memories!
She composed even for great Aretha! The music of "You make me feel ( like a natural woman)"...Lyrics by Gerry Goffin
@@Burt472 Wow.
I didn't know she wrote "One Fine Day."

A young lady of color.. correction
I came here because this was the number #1 song the day I was born. I was told that if I wanted to know my true energy to find everything that happened the day I was born. Makes sense now!
The Tapestry album was a monster. When it came out, Carole might have been the most popular musical performer on Earth. Incredible talent.
I think you are right about that. That album exploded the music world. Deservedly so.
To think I came here because of Mary Roach 😳
And few know that many of the songs other artists were charting with were also written by this heaven sent talent!🫡🎶♥️
Yes indeed.@@HomeisJax
She remains one of the greatest female songwriters of the last century and very few come close.
im feeling the earth move!

I just felt the Earth move right here in New Jersey.

I give $19 monthly to St. Jude's...wish I could snap my fingers and make all those kids well. Alas, it doesn't work that way. My Dad turned me on to Carole King's music. He's a big 70's music junky!
Who else thought of this song that is in NJ and NY right now? 😂

*raises hand*
Far Eastern PA, so close enough

This is my favorite song that used to play when I worked at Walgreens.
Definitely felt the earth move today in Hudson Valley NY on this Friday April 5th 2024!!!
This was my mothers favorite song. When she was ill with Alzheimer's and we would play this song for her she would dance and mouth the words and she was like the person she was before.
That is the power of great music
What a wonderful thing :)
What a great memory for you....God Bless your Mom
Awww very sweet ♡
Thank you for sharing - moving
An appropriate song for today.
When l was ten years old she came to children hospital to sing l met her in 1970. God bless her
Thats such a blessed memory! I had no idea Carole sang in children’s hospitals. Thanks for sharing
Literally one of the greatest singer/songwriters of my time. I’m only 28 but I grew up listening to women like Carole, Joni, Linda, and Carly. Just amazing
I’d have to add Karen carpenter to that list
Check out Laura Nyro! You might dig it.
@@scouts9447 holy poo! thank you i always love learning of ' new to me' undersold LPs
I concur, an amazing lyricist.
@@scouts9447 Thus completing the list !
Such a great songwriter. Her ability to crossover genres within her writing is really what separates her from the rest.
Tapestry was one of the top ten selling albums-for decades.
Lost my beautiful sister 4/21/22 to efin cancer. This is her favorite artist. I hear this song I can hear her trying sing with Carole. Damn sometimes life is just so hard. Love u sis you meant the world to me❤️

@@bryanpinto4051 you are right! I cherish every minute I had with her🙏🏽
I think this is one of the greatest albums ever made!
No question about that
I still play my album on my record player. I'm a 63 year old man with a new 19 month old little girl who listen to Carol King before she was born with a tummy speaker. after she was born she recognized the music. love you Carol for your contribution to the world of music
I get that - I sang You got a Friend as a lullaby to both my girls
Beautiful!
Mom played this album ALL THE TIME when she carried me. I'm still a fan.
There's hope for me yet I'm 39 and no kids lol.
Bill Hudson *carole
I have played this on piano a thousand times and it never fails to give me goosebumps. Carole was a master songwriter and the queen of white R&B.
Now that's a cover in every home in the 70s 80s and is THE singer songwriter lp of all time
When I was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army ('73 -'76) the soldiers loved to play her music in the barracks all the time. That is when I first heard and fell in love with Carole King's music. I went to the musical "Beautiful" last night, April 19, 2022 and I felt like I was back in my younger days again. Wow, Carole King is so talented.
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around
Ooh, baby, when I see your face
Mellow as the month of May
Oh, darling, I can't stand it
When you look at me that way
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around
Ooo, darling, when you're near me
And you tenderly call my name
I know that my emotions
Are something I just can't tame
I've just got to have you, baby, uh huh huh uh huh huh yeah
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, a'tumbling down
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, a'tumbling down
I just lose control
Down to my very soul
I get hot and cold, all over, all over, all over, all over
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, a'tumbling down
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, a'tumbling down,
A'tumbling down, a'tumbling down, a'tumbling down, a'tumbling down, tumbling down!
Cool.
merci beaucoup

@Thomas L Cossette uhh, oui
I adore her voice, not just her song-writing.
Amazing rhythm, bounce and honesty to her delivery. Just complete clarity and self-understanding.
Still great after more than 40 years!

Same as me
Almost 50 years now!
FORTY YEARS! 😳. Feels like yesterday 😎

Thanks
It was definitely a wild experience!
God im too young to absolutely love this song omg wtf!?!?
Music from the 1970s is great .(not all of it, of course) Explore more of it and you will find other great songs like this
this bass line is really awesome
Signalsoldier Yes it is - I’ve covered it!
Do do da da, do do da da, do do da da
"In Pocket." Bassists listed as Charley Larkey and Perry Steinberg for the Tapestry album.
The bass lifts that song beyond the high altitude it is already at.
I was 21 years-young, got married in 1971, and I loved this album right from the get go! I purchased it back then and it's still one of my favorites! I've got it on vinyl, tape, cd, and video. Carole King hit it out of the park with 'Tapestry'! Over 25 million copies sold world wide and she held the record for most weeks on the Billboard album chart by a female until 2017! 'Tapestry' spent15 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard charts.
Oscar Unger would agree with you
@@goback3spaces He and I are very good friends. In fact, we shared an apartment after my wife Blance told me I had to leave. (G)

One of the best song writer's ever.
The whole album!!!

Oh yes
Part 0:54 of this song inspired a section of "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees
What do you mean
Yes !! El melisma sobre la A..
'stayin alive' similar notes and timing, true
Every word is distinct, every lyric is precise, and every note is rhythmic.
If the Sky comes tumbling down when the Earth moves, maybe she knows something more than she's telling us...powerful!
This is the album that kept Led Zeppelin 4 from becoming number one on the Billboard charts.
The whole album is brilliant and this is one of the best tracks.
Music that's stands to time. I work at Amazon and people are STILL buying this record in 2018. ❤ Carole!
Isn't it great how music can "stand to time" lol
Sent this to my friend in California just to let her know earth quake in el chuco.
Good Music, IT NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE!!!!!!!!!
The best songwriter. I love her husky voice.
Just watched the end of season 2 of Outer Range with Josh Brolin and this is the last song they played. I did a dance routine in 1975 with two classmates to this song for gym class. Wow, talk about “time” and the passing of it, great series on Amazon Prime.
I couldn’t believe that cliffhanger. I seriously hope it gets renewed for another season
MISS KING, IN THE MOVIE: FOUL PLAY, DUDLEY MOORE SANG A FEW LINES OF : I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE, WHICH I DID NOT EVEN NOTICE.
BUT EVEN HE CAN’T HOLD A CANDLE TO YOUR VERSION, MA’AM. THAT’S THE GENUINE ARTICLE.

how Awesome is she ~~~
She's a fabulous singer and composer. I remember when that song 1st came out I was mesmerized with the song and the lyrics it is definitely a true classic...
I too was always taken by the energy of it, without realizing, in my youthfulness, its positive effect on energy levels.
In 1971, I was in High School (class of 1974) listening to your music. Thank you so very much, Beautiful Carole King, for sharing.
Back in the early seventies Carole king most people had never heard of C. k .but she’d been a busy girl no doubt about that writing this Iconic alum that just blew us all away and it’s still doing it today I don’t think she really understood that she was creating a master piece that was going to remain timeless for all of her days that alum changed her life forever!
I have loved her for more then 40 years!! and James is great also
She is the greatest song writer in history 53 top hits written by her

This is pure talent at its finest nothing contemporary compares
No filler no bs no Disney bubble gum flavor of the week no auto-tune no lip synch
Just phenomenal song writing, composing & singing
I remember being six years old, sitting on my big sister's bed listening to this album along with bread, Rod Stewart and Neil Diamond. I would examine every inch of these album covers while listening. I'm 58 and still a big fan.

According to your age, you should have been 10 years old when Tapestry came out.

Great music from my youth, and still listening often. Together withJoni, great American Pop-artists.
This song will forever symbolize for me the beginning of my teenage years.
I've just moved to a new school, and this album was all over the place.
The song was like the opening shot for my new life:
Are you ready to be a teenager? Go!
The entire album (Tapestry) was sweet, sour, complicated and full of heartaches, just like my life at the time.
Every time I hear this song, I am filled with longings and joy.
Interesting and cool story! 😎🙌
The lyrics are full of such youth… and fire
No one can write more universal lyrics

Carole recorded for ODE Records which was distributed by Herb Alperts A&M label.
Hi Donna hope you’re okay ?
I bought my Carole King Tapestry album at Farmers Market in Cubao, Philippines in 1972. It cost Ph 18.00 then and the album was worth every cent. The album which was a huge hit in the USA was prominently on display at the record bar along with the other hitmakers that time. It brings back a lot of good memories. Life was very simple then.
Yep! Sure did!
As a child growing up in L.A. this song was in heavy rotation. And whenever there was an earthquake its all you would hear for days. I got to meet her mid 1990's in Albuquerque N.M, made some custom sun glasses for her.
Happy birthday carol

Bakersfield, CA, 8:09 PM, 5.2 Earthquake, August 6, 2024 with (so far) nearly 70 aftershocks. Noone knows what fault line is responsible which is a mystery to me. This is one of few perfect songs for that kind of an event. Hopefully everyone isn't too afraid. The best thing to do after an earthquake and during the aftershock phase is to make the best of it, as long as everyone is safe of course. Be prepared and don't panic!
it's a tradition of mine to play this song after every earthquake
This is my mother's favorite singer, through the years I like her songs too.
