I remember that too. Tommy Bartlett water show. I saw that still got the tape from that performance. He talks about being in 20,000 leagues under the sea, going to restaurants and watching the looks on people's faces when they hear him, going to an insurance building and making them think that he got electrocuted. Etc etc.
Saw him live at the Dells at the Tommy Bartlett Water show and got the record I was so impressed. He must have done variations of this show for 50 years or more. He passed in July of 2019 so we will only have this record to remember him by.
I was working at the Milwaukee sports show in 1981 and I saw every show Wes did and bought this record from him at one show. must have seen 6 shows and listened to the record over and over
omfg! I was born in 1966 and in the mid 70s my parents would go to what they called "friend" parties. Anyway, i would get to set and listen to any one of about 200 vinyl albums through headphones while setting in a bean bag. Found this tonight because I was bored with tv crap and was surfing the web. Best thing I have found on the internet! Dont know who put this out there but thank you!!! Brought back wonderful childhood memories along with a few belly laughs.
When I got my first tape recorder in 1972 (I was 12), one of the first things I tried was re-creating some of the sounds I heard Wes do. I thought I had the steam locomotive down (just the puffing engine) and some of his others, mostly the ones that relied heavily on breath noises into the mic. I could NEVER get his consonant sounds though.
Wes was phenomenal. Whenever I play that incredible record to friends, they inevitably get that astonished look on their face that always dissolves into a smile. "He does that with his MOUTH?" they always say. My standard response is "Yes, and he speaks more with his sounds than most people do with words."
Saw this man live in Kitchener Ontario. This guy was amazing in person . Never laughed so hard as I did that night. Just watching AGT where a sound effects act is performing on stage and doesn't hold a candle to Wes Harrison.
Yes! I actually got to see him at he Indiana RV, boat and travel show sometime in the early 2000's. Finally was sent this way via Instagram after trying to remember his name for years.
I remember seeing him in the 70's at Tommy Bartlett show, it was one of the highlights of the show! Of course, remember begging my parents to buy the vinyl album on the way out! Thanks for posting the memories!
grew up with this album as a child. Before I had an operation i could do tons of sound effects thanks to this album. met him in the late 90's I think ? at the ex in Ottawa. Had a signed album that I wanted him to re sign. Unfortunately never met him again due to my laziness lol. Love modern recordings , but not enough respect given to guys in the original audio days !
I love that this is the whole original recording. Saw this guy several times in Wisconsin Dells as a kid. My dad had this record when I was a kid

He was at our summer fairs a few times in the late ‘60s in Regina Saskatchewan Canada. He did this routine almost word for word
I had this cassette when I was little. Friggin loved it, so historical! We got to see him live in the Wisconsin Dells.
My Dad had this album , listened to it as a kid
Me and my wife saw him live at the Tommy Bartlett Water Show in the Wisconsin Dells back in the 1980’s. This was before any water parks were there.
Listened to this record constantly as a kid. I still remember it. I wish I could have seen him live.
Saw this man live in Kitchener Ontario. This guy was amazing in person . Never laughed so hard as I did that night. Just watching AGT where a sound effects act is performing on stage and doesn't hold a candle to Wes Harrison.

Ya think.
Had demonstration 45 record of him in mid 60s. He was doing a show at a place my mom was working.
When I was a kid on our family vacation to the ozarka in 1976 I believe. I got an autographed copy of this album. Funny guy.
I was here for this record and have it on tape some place. Loved it as a kid.
I’m cracking up so much on his amazing sound effects! 😂🤣
I have him on reel to reel … I think he was on the Ed Sullivan Show a couple of times but I’m not sure…
It’s too bad there’s no video of this…

He's far better than Michael Winslow
