That’s assuming that you will be the one AND only owner. The design is trademarked. So you can do that for yourself bu you can’t even donate them. Nor can you sell them. Doing so would be trademark infringement. I have seen shoes for sale that use a deeper red like a burgundy or even pink on the soles to get around the trademark issue.
Wow. Their justifications for the pricing of Louboutins. Why not just admit that they're charging those prices simply because they can? It doesn't cost $1,000 to manufacture a shoe in Europe. Give me a break. I own a pair of classic black pumps, and boots, and both are quite uncomfortable. I've bought $20 heels on Amazon that are more comfortable to walk in. You're paying for the brand name and that signature red sole. That's it.
That's not entirely true. Quality and high production can affect the price. Chances are your shoes were $20 because the production demand was low and/or the quality (not just talking about to the actual shoe quality. I'm referring to the working conditions, materials, sourcing, etc) is not very good.
@@tsi4357 I was literally raised to wear just leather, and I never played more than 100 euros on my shoes. Yeah, maybe it's not snake leather or crocodile, but still, 1000 dollars is crazy expensive for a shoe.
If you want the same high-quality materials and craftsmanship, I highly recommend befriending near graduation/end of apprenticeship cobblers or fashion school students. I've gotten some of the best shoes and clothes I've ever owned at a fraction of the price of a coturier or atelier. They use the same materials and techniques, and I don't have to travel to Aspen or Europe to get the same experience lol. Students and fresh graduates are usually eager to start building their clientele, earning good money, and putting all of their knowledge to work. You won't be disappointed.
Historical fact : Red High Heels were already a thing before Louboutin. It was a must for the noblemen in Europe around the 15th century(back when high heels was only for men, it was a masculine fashion piece). The glossy red-soled shoes showed they never worked because it was clean and it was red because they represent the blood of their enemy crushed in battle. Louis XIV was very fond of shoes with red heels. And no man could have a heel higher than the king. Bright red was also a rare color on clothes, so having red-heels meant a nobleman was very wealthy, powerful in war and never worked at all (so even more rich).
Jacqueline Nguyen you WISH you saved a $1800 but actually you wasted $27 because your shoes are still not made of quality materials like the original loubutins , they will look cheap and like trash , that $2 paint won’t look anywhere NEAR like the original loubutin red bottoms , and god forbid if you ever walk into a place with good lighting like a shopping mall 🤣 guaranteed your $25 shoes with $2 paint will look exactly that ! $25 pair of shoes........with $2 paint all over the bottom lol
@white LOL! Not at all. Anyone who has worked for a company or studio that charges by the hour knows that the markup is generally 4 or 5 times what they are paying the workers doing the work. If you guys believe that they are paying their staff that kind of money, you're crazy. Labour and materials are probably about 20% of the entire cost.
My first time visiting Toronto, my girlfriend (now my wife) and I visited the Louboutin exhibit. I remember laying my eyes on the Rollerboy Spiked loafers, I fell in love with the shoe. It was unique and like nothing I've seen before. At the time, I was working at Dunkin Donuts so it was completely out of my price range. Since then, I've had a good career in IT and for my wedding day I knew exactly the shoe I wanted to wear that day and it was worth the $1000 price tag.
The stilettos aren’t even properly designed to distribute weight to the heel instead of the ball of the foot. Consideration should be given to form AND function. I’m not impressed.
That actually makes sense. Higher quality at a high production is really expensive. So the product costs more. It's usually cheap items that are made using slave labor, harmful materials, unethical practices and such. However, there are many instances where you are literally just paying for a label and it tends to show in the quality (take the newer Louis Vuitton bags for instance, the quality has gone down a lot but prices remain the same due to the name). Christian Louboutin is very meticulous about his craftsmanship and views his shoes as pieces of art. But I also have to agree with another commenter, they hurt like crazy and it's NOT worth the money to kill your feet! EDIT: I'm hearing the quality has gone down on these shoes too!
Tiara Letrice almost everything in quality for brand name stuff are going down. There are three stores I shopped at for awhile. Comparing to the first time I bought from there (I still have the items from 10 years ago) and compared to now the quality is half to 70% of what it used to be and cost 25-40% more excluding tax. Even styles now and days aren’t that great because it tends to be repetitive and nothing unique and new. I say, get things on sale/ clearance because they’re usually half or 25% of the price for half the quality. That’s when it might be worth it depending on how you view it.
I'm telling you man, women only use shoes and dresses once. I have a friend that wears crocs for comfort. Women are crazy. But men love crazy. Each their own
@@milesb1763 you can get them covered in a thin clear material to protect the bottoms. It's just paint and will come back off and look ugly after one or two wears
"What makes these shoes worth almost 800 dollars?" Short answer: They aren't worth 800 dollars. They cost 800. The shoes themselves arent worth anywhere near the pricetag, its the same as all fashion brands, you are paying for the brand, not the product itself. The only reason they sell is because of shallow and vain people who feel the need to spend such outrageous amounts of money simply to show them off. Such as Spencer Alben, who's entire reasoning for buying them amounts to "I wanted to show them off because people know they are expensive."
Giselle Dumoy That’s what I was gonna say! I can just take some spray paint and paint the shoes myself. But why would I do that?! I’m not trying to be someone I’m not! It’s all vanity/trash!
Especially when you think about how uncomfortable those shoes would be, plus the damage that wearing shoes like that does to your feet in the long run. I don't think they are worth it at all.
@@zanae3432 I mean when ur from a broke family like me it’s sad to know that someone is buying shoes worth like 10 of your dinners. Life is unfair I know, it still hurts though
I design women's shoes and will inform you that top of the line high heels from the factory in Italy are worth/cost about 100€ to 120€. The rest is purely because of the brand. This is why designers buy factories in Italy to make their shoes.
I know someone who wears a pair of those but he still stays humble; having a lot of money doesn't change him & his close friends around him. I do understand his feelings because I like Louboutin's designs too. But the truth is, those shoes only became very expensive because MOST OF US LOVE THE STATUS. We paid partly for the shoes, & the rest is FOR THE PRIDE. As businessmen, why shouldn't they take advantage of our behaviour? Of course they would. IT'S BUSINESS
You miss the most important factor which makes these shoes expensive. Designers won't ever say it because they don't need to. Customers who have knowledge in the high-end fashion already knows this too: simply , you're not paying for the "high cost" of production , nor design, nor distribution.. you're paying the brand, the symbol and the experience. Gucci, Prada, Hermes, Louis Vuitton are even more expensive. You feel exclusive when purchasing such high-end fashion pieces because as they said, celebrities wear them too and who doesn't want to identify with that kind of group?
Exactly. I mean if there is someone out there with their line of purple or orange soles... They would be making them expensive too keeping in mind the competition between two almost similar things and making the most out of their brands
Exactamente! You are paying for what people will think of you when you wear it. They will assume you are in the special 2% category even if you are still paying for them 5 years later.
3 minutes of looking at gorgeous shoes on mute. They're $$$$ for sure. Window-shopping is free. If you want them for more than your emotional health, wear them more than 3 times and can afford them, why not be proud of your status? You earned it.
I paid $25usd for mines, and i was able to walk in a inch of thick mud in the rain, i just cleaned up the next day, no issues, i would dare them to make a shoe capable of that..
When I was younger because my feet are child-sized I bought some custom made shoes in a classic pump with a moderate heel. I still have those shoes 20+ years later. They are my favourite pumps I own them in classic black. I've only had to take them in for repairs for a worn heel or worn sole a few times. At the time I paid 800 dollars for a pair of classic pumps that still fit as nicely as when I first got them. When I see designer shoes it makes me think of times I would have bought custom shoes for at least 500 bucks at the time and have only had to take them in a few times to fix the sole with 15 - 20+ years of owning them. I can understand paying a lot if there you are fetting high-quality shoes. It's totally worth paying the extra money on a classic style if they are comfortable and last a long time. I would gladly pay over a thousand dollars on a great pair of shoes or boots as long as they fit and last a long time.
Why are they so expensive? Because people are willing to pay for it Edit: oh wow, I never thought I would get this many likes saying something so simple. Thanks for the 8.3k!

I used to think I would buy red bottoms until I found out that they were uncomfortable. I wouldn’t wear uncomfortable shoes for free! Why they put so much money into manufacturing costs but not ergonomic design is strange but why people pay to be uncomfortable is even stranger! For $1000 dollars, the shoes should feel like clouds. For $1000 dollars they should be giving me all-day foot massages. For $1000 the shoes should be repairing themselves not sitting in a closet never to be worn again after 1 day!

Yes, but the ability to have red soles was restricted to the highest nobility and therefore could not be used by anyone else. In these times of instant information, to have a brand that is instantly recognizable by nearly everyone is sheer genius.
Louis XIV -- the 'Sun King -- started the trend. He was physically short, so he wanted higher heels. Plus, the red colour for the bottoms of the shoes made the king really stand out. And Louis LOVED to be the centre of attention.

This video didn't even say. Christian himself said it was because each shoe took a worker about 5 days to handmake versus a factory that churns out hundreds or thousands a day. That being said, damn. I am not in the market for $1000+ shoes.
Except saying that it's a "5 day process" isn't transparent, either. Yes, the various stages of the production of these are designed to be completed in the span of 5 days, but it's more like "the worker will simultaneously make a couple dozens of shoes (at least)" in that period of time, and not "the worker only works on a single pair of shoes for 5 days". Otherwise their cost would begin in the thousands.

Or some people just have a lot of money and really like these shoes. If you could, you yourself would spend a lot of money on luxury and you’re a liar if you deny that.
For me the comfort is number one. If the shoes are super comfortable so that I can wear them the whole night of event or day of meetings, then I would invest. Up to now no high heel stilettos or pumps I had ever matched this request.
"Would YOU drop a thousand dollars for red bottom shoes?" - Umm NOO!! Even I can afford them, I don't see them as shoes! Shoes should carry their purpose, those You barely can wear!
I bought a pair of shoes along time ago with red sole bottoms. Before Louboutin. So he is wrong. And their are much better designed shoes then this pretentious brand.$6000 for a pair of shoes. You could get handmade shoes, designed for your feet from Italy for $300.
I have found a company in China who can get the swarovski and leather from Italy and make it themselves, custom-made and costs you $530 only. Same quality, only different manufacturer.
Rick C-137 I have Louboutins and yeah you right lol the worst part is that the quality is horrible, they are definitely beautiful but some heels made in China have better quality than Louboutin.
This is a false story about the red sole origin. Originally the red sole was a design distinct to Cesare Paciotti- a significantly better shoe designer with a lot less hype. Because the Paciotti brand prides itself on being a private, old fashioned, Italian family brand who only makes a few pairs in each size and doesn't mass produce, they passed up the chance to expand the way Louboutin has in the last 10-15 years and allowed Louboutin to buy and trademark the red sole when he approached them about using their design for his shoes. And funny enough Paciotti still make shoes (not all but some) with red soles. They've kept their original red and allowed Louboutin to trademark a version of their signature and mass produce with a variation of their red that we all now know as the Louboutin red.
I love to dabble in my art…and I’m a sucker for a beautiful shoe that fits and wears well…but I would never pay that much for shoes. A coat? Perhaps 🤔, but that’s still asking a lot. The most I’ve ever spent was $75 on a pair of sandals 25 years ago for my college graduation and they are still in style and comfortable today.
Not 1k expensive. Why do other brands offer leather shoes at $100 or at most $500? They last longer and are even more comfortable than a Louboutin. Once the sole is scratched up enough they need replacing..for the SOLES the part that touches the ground so they naturally wear down first. They're so expensive because they're worldy recognized as a status symbol like you buying a diamond rig the size of a walnut. You dont have to get it,you dont need it but it shows people you can afford it
they are expensive to make a difference between the low/middle class people to the high class people, just like any other luxury brand. It wouldnt be a luxury brand anymore if it was cheap (and not special if simply anyone would be able to buy them), it would be a mall brand or a fast fashion brand. Those guys are the real bandits, but many people dont know and dont understand about the fashion industry. Also, such luxury brands are great, if you want an expensive watch, expensive car or expensive shoes to gift to yourself or others for graduation or doing something significant in your life, i think most people would buy something expensive cause they worked hard to get it.

Thank you for that fun fact. Interesting
Ohhhhh. That makes sense
I believe it was a red heel, not red soles.
Yeah I heard that lovely bit of history in a dance class.
Why can’t Women find their own style and shoes.
I’ll buy a $25 dollar pair of heels and a $2 bottle of red paint and there we go.. $1800 saved

Did your wife wear a pair as well?
The stilettos aren’t even properly designed to distribute weight to the heel instead of the ball of the foot. Consideration should be given to form AND function. I’m not impressed.

Amigps01 Exactly we already knew this. I just wanted to see what they would say lol
and if u dont want to then dont buy the fvxking shoe
And they just wanted to cater to the rich!
Did she seriously say she would probably not wear those pair of shoes again? My godd

Leviticus 19:35. Forbids price gouging.

Yes, but the ability to have red soles was restricted to the highest nobility and therefore could not be used by anyone else. In these times of instant information, to have a brand that is instantly recognizable by nearly everyone is sheer genius.

Yah but the majority of the masses can't fathom intangible value & craftsmanship🙄
I can have an entire new wardrobe with good quality clothes and shoe if I spend a $1000+
That’s actually pretty cool even if I don’t wanna really love these shoes.

Imagine feeling validated for having expensive shoes
Imagine being stupid enough to waste your money on expensive shoes of all things, the things that you put between your feet & the ground.🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
What's hard to imagine??? It's no different from being validated by having an expensive dress or car or house. Shall we stop there? No, it's all a matter of preference. You want to wear penny loafers, go right ahead. All these comments about how shallow people are, but these shoes sell and it was a brilliant marketing idea.
@404 Error Not Found you are judging others based on what they prefer and coming to the conclusion that they must be frivolous, shallow and foolish. Hello kettle. That sounds like a very shallow thing to do.
Or some people just have a lot of money and really like these shoes. If you could, you yourself would spend a lot of money on luxury and you’re a liar if you deny that.
@404 Error Not Found Sure mate.
For me the comfort is number one. If the shoes are super comfortable so that I can wear them the whole night of event or day of meetings, then I would invest. Up to now no high heel stilettos or pumps I had ever matched this request.
Damn I just got a $119.99 Nike shoe and im thinkin it still crazy 😂
That's too much for shoes that are made for less than €20 in asia. I dont pay more than €85 for shoes
For me, highest is 28$ lmao
@Human Resources neh. I'm just broke🤷🏻♀
@Human Resources Plus I'm from India so I can buy great shoes at this rate.
I bought a pair boots which cost 50 euros. I am also thinking that I have gone crazy😂
So they are saying that I can paint red nail polish on the soul of my shoe and bam red bottoms
THAANK YOU! Exactly what i was thinking, especially if you care on your wedding day instead of who you marry
Don't get sued tho
Susan Maneri ....it would never look the same
@@chocolategirl3r856 as long as you don't have the lable
I always thought that the actual shoes should be pretty, but I never knew that bottom part was more important
Ya u could have poop on ya heels but the red underneath is supposed to be crystal clear
The red sole is exactly what you are paying for and it's so expensive, precisely because everyone know how expensive it is. It's a never-ending cycle
Short answer: Profit margins. Also: Louboutin was far from the first one to have red soles on high heels. Charles Jourdan did it in the 70s.
"Would YOU drop a thousand dollars for red bottom shoes?" - Umm NOO!! Even I can afford them, I don't see them as shoes! Shoes should carry their purpose, those You barely can wear!
Plus the trademark is the soles are red, who just causally looks at the sole of someone’s shoe
@ Elena Bystrova
?? You wear them when you're younger and when you're older you wear them walking from the car to the door and vice versa🤦🏼♀️
They do have comfortable shoes too
Because rich people buy them
O yea yea
Oh chow chow
Darkphoton HONESTLY!
You don't have to be rich to buy them.
@Darkphoton holy shit youre right
Does anyone have that feeling when you see such funny people in the comments you want to become their friend? 🤣

I bought a pair of shoes along time ago with red sole bottoms. Before Louboutin. So he is wrong. And their are much better designed shoes then this pretentious brand.$6000 for a pair of shoes. You could get handmade shoes, designed for your feet from Italy for $300.
IKR! When he said matetials from Asia went up, I was like 🙄.
Yes
Where I can get custom shoes from Italy for $300?
@@nickiminajstan0033 i so wanna know too
I have found a company in China who can get the swarovski and leather from Italy and make it themselves, custom-made and costs you $530 only. Same quality, only different manufacturer.
Why are they so expensive? ...Because people are chumps & they'll pay for anything.
Right and tey to justify tge coat by saying but I can afford them. Okay!! Sooooooo but they're not a comfortable or lasting shoe....
😂😂😂
Rick C-137 I have Louboutins and yeah you right lol the worst part is that the quality is horrible, they are definitely beautiful but some heels made in China have better quality than Louboutin.
So, do it yourself?
Im just gonna say that i dont even like these shoes..
The platform heels are surprisingly comfortable, but they're not as easy to find in the color/material you want.
Thats not the question. The question is why are they sooooo unconfortable??
Because they aren't meant for casual walking.
Because even Christian ranks comfort the list for his designs.
He says that he doesn't design them for comfort, he designs them for the aesthetic.
The sneakers are comfortable.
Because people aren't meant to walk with their heels 4" in the air! Heels are 100% for vanity. They will never be comfortable.
Very interesting fact
Well this makes more sense than nail polish story, thanks.
alright tea
He started to paint the sole of the shoe with red nail polish..might aswell do the same to regular heels people
Lol 😂😂😂
Kh4nyY DIY Christian Louboutin Thank you for the idea 💡💡🤣🤣😂
I love to dabble in my art…and I’m a sucker for a beautiful shoe that fits and wears well…but I would never pay that much for shoes. A coat? Perhaps 🤔, but that’s still asking a lot. The most I’ve ever spent was $75 on a pair of sandals 25 years ago for my college graduation and they are still in style and comfortable today.
They did´nt even explained why are they so expensive....
Safoora Ajmal I think he said production costs. Making shoes in Europe is expensive
You dont have to get it,you dont need it but it shows people you can afford it
@Lizzy Bee its because of the brand.. Production cost may be expensive, but no way would it ever be in the thousands.
Brand name
they are expensive to make a difference between the low/middle class people to the high class people, just like any other luxury brand.
Did the employee every finish painting their nails? 0:47

"Its expensive to make shoes in Europe"
What if they started making them in China, would it be cheap ?
Well, you can't deny that a product made in europe is so much more attractive than made in china because people always had this impression that things made in europe are made of high quality materials and high level of craftmanship
@@MissAbigael02 they import chinese labor in europe. they claim it's made in europe which is true. however, the workers are in fact asians or chinese (who are willing to work for cheap).

2:31, those are beautiful shoes and a fascinating style, she could wear them again. Absolutely.
I got a pair of Louboutins for a graduation gift. Classic black, go with everything. I wore them on a date night to see “Wicked” with my boyfriend and my feet were killing me! They may be iconic, but they are not that comfy!
I can only wear mine if going from the car to a restaurant. My boyfriend treated me to a pair for my 40th, which was really sweet, but don’t have the heart to tell him that find them really awkward and uncomfortable to wear.
@@lucygrant3103 I expected them to be so comfortable to wear, much like a Couture gown....... however everyone I know who owns them have all said that they are the most uncomfortable shoes ever.
