Nice choice. I had that on a 45 when I was a kid. I've never seen this performance. That was great. Always loved Carly and I'm a big JT fan. I think it is an old nursery rhyme type song.
Love James Taylor. What a great singer songwriter. He was married at one time to Carly Simon. They did a few duets together including "Mockingbird" & "Devoted to You". James has a lot of hits such as "You've Got A Friend", "Fire and Rain", "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)", "Handy Man", "Sweet Baby James", "Carolina in My Mind", "Shower The People", "Your Smiling Face" etc. Carly has had a lot of great songs in her solo career too.
Everytime I see this video, I can't help but get a big smile- they seem to be having so much fun. I love both Carly and James seperately, but they were great together. Yes they were married and have several children, but sadly divorced. According to Wiki, this song was orginally written and performed by Charlie and Inez Foxx (really great R&B duet) in 1963, and based on the lullabye "Hush Little Baby".
I have listened to this song many times over the years but never saw this video! Too much fun this is why I prefer "live" over studio. They and us having a blast to good music. Thank you my man for reacting to this.
From the Musicians United for Safe Energy concerts held at Madison Square Garden on September 21 & 22, 1979. A worthy cause and a heck of a show. Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Crosby, Stills & Nash and more.
This is from the No Nukes concert in NYC 1979. This performance was in Madison Square Garden. The entire concert is filled with great musicians and great music. Hope you listen to and watch more of this awesome concert. It includes people like Michael McDonald, Jackson Brown, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springstein, and lots more. ✌I was there!!!! Hi from NYC.
🥰 Great reaction! Carly is and was amazing. I literally remember hearing her for the first time when I was barely 3y/o. That's no joke. It was her song (and huge hit😉)..."You're So Vain". Her voice tickled me as a young child, but then as I grew older and understood the lyrics... it raised my love for her and the song to another level. Oh and, and trust me, the speculation behind who the lyrics were written about are endless! Although the one line about the apricot scarf SCREAMS Warren Beatty all day long!!🤣😂🤣 My vote: next from Carly, "You're So Vain" live... the one where she's performing on a black piano at seaside concert. You can't mistake it in the thumbnails. Anyway, It's incredible. You rock Biz!! Peace and light...💞
Their voices compliment each other. Throw in some of that killer sax and you will always get my attention. Have always loved me some James Taylor. He was super hot as a young man!
This is their best life performance ever, omg! You can see the joy in Carly's eyes, and can we talk about that hair flip??!!! Make no mistake Carly LOVES performing on stage, but her dilemma is she can't keep focused during performances with larger audiences. Cuz in the beginning, she and her sister Lucy always did shows in coffee houses and taverns, as the Simon Sisters. As a solo artist Carly did well as opening act for Kris Kristofferson and Cat Stevens. But "You're So Vain" made her a mega star which meant performing in bigger venues, theaters and arenas. She would panic if she couldn't see the eyes and faces in the crowd. She's learned how to overcome that by having the lights up during her shows, or performing outdoor concerts in the park. So glad she finally got inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame last year, it was long overdue!
Great memories of when this broke. Great to see Taylor get goofy and a lot more upbeat. Waddy Wachtel is the guitarist/band leader in that great backing group...session guitarist extraordinaire for Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, etc.
2 great singers. They were married for a time. You can see the chemistry between them.
love them both....great to see James so animated up there dancing with his then wife. they broke each other's hearts it seems. .

I think it is an old nursery rhyme type song.
Carole King, Carly Simon & James Taylor made so much great music together. What a magical moment in time. 😊

One of my favorite duets of all time.

So fun to watch you watch it. So cool.😊
Such a great reaction. “Two parallel pockets” Really thoughtful take. Sure, more Carley.❤️

A worthy cause and a heck of a show.
Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Crosby, Stills & Nash and more.
Great band behind Carly Simon and James Taylor--you can see Leland Sklar and Waddy Wachtel among others in this video.

I've seen Lee & Waddy in concert with Jackson several times. Great musicians!
Great performance! They were good together.
I just love that stroll down memory lane! I was so sad when they broke up!
Fun reaction. And yes! based on a nursery song "Hush little baby."

I bet their children have awesome voices.

You’re so vain is the next one from Her, thanks Tina
Carly! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

First time I've seen anyone react to this song and it is one of my favorites. Well done.
Thank you for doing this one. I love James and I love Carly. I hadn't seen this is a LOOONG time, I forgot how much fun they had in it.
SUCH a fun performance! So glad you watched it😊
Yes, "Mockingbird" was a lullaby, or nursery rhyme. : )
James Taylor and his son Henry singing "You can close your eyes " is absolutely 💯 beautiful
Two greats having a blast 💃❤️💃
Carly’s stage fright was indeed transient. Sometimes very prevalent, sometimes not as much. But even when, she overcomes.
Yeah, you can see her nervous energy; it works, though. This is great.
I love this clip , it does make me wonder what they were on at the time though. But such a lot of fun to watch. Yes it is an old traditional song.
They were magical. They were real fun.

You Belong To Me, studio recording is great.
❤️🔥
I'm 60 years old n had crush on Carly since the 70's and was a jitterbug she one of favorites !
Great memories of when this broke. Great to see Taylor get goofy and a lot more upbeat. Waddy Wachtel is the guitarist/band leader in that great backing group...session guitarist extraordinaire for Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, etc.
These cats can really cook.
Another jam with Waddy Wachtel on guitar... Dude had a knack of showing up...
James is the song writing GOAT.
It helped her stage fright to be singing with her husband....like being at home.
Chemistry!
Awesome Review
Carly sure does have a Purdy mouth ❤️🔥 female version of Steven Tyler 😂🤣😂
This was a great live performance, I think both James and Carly are both talented artists, I think they were married at this time
Man she was hot. Yeah bringing in the sax, I think it's a federal law. Yeah. Peace
A male singer had a hit with this song in the 1950s or 1960s.
☮️💙💙💙🔥😍
Nobody sings it like the original INEZ & CHARLES FOXX
Did they borrow the saxophonist from Saturday Night Live…
