such a duet. James, the introvert folk singer who really clearly likes to sing with his wife. Carly in performance, the complete opposite, like she could be Mick Jagger's sister. Carly's solo songs as a singer and song writer, are magnificent . This is so much fun. Guaranteed to make happiness on this one.
This is the No-Nukes concert performed over 3 days with an unbelievable lineup. Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Carly and James, Bonnie Raitt, Poco, Doobie Brothers, Tom Petty, Jesse Colin Young, Dan Fogelburg. There is a movie if you want to hear the interviews.
John Hall.."All Of the Above". He was instrumental, (pun intended) in anti atomic power post Three Mile Island, ( * see China Syndrome movie) and in getting this amazing bunch of talent together
You absolutely HAVE to listen to more Carly Simon. If I was going to pick one song that identifies her extraordinary skill as a song writer, I would suggest "You're So Vain", followed by "I Haven't Got Time For The Pain" and "Nobody Does It Better."
We had the great pleasure of seeing them at an impromptu out on the Vineyard one summer as well as a bit of a meet & greet at His brothers' island inn off Cape Cod
The band was called The Section. (Danny Kortchmar, Lee Sklar, Russ Kunkel, Waddy Wachtel) They played w/so many artists- Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, CSN, & of course, James Taylor & Carole King (that's how got together as a band) Carly didn't tour due to terrible stage fright. I've never seen her live. James Taylor does love to tour. I've seen him over 20 times & will be seeing him again in 2 weeks. If you want to see James rock out there is a video on youtube: James Taylor-Steamroller at Blossom Music Festival. Also, show from 1979. I hope you do more from James Taylor's and Carly Simon's catalogues. So many great tunes.
James Taylor was one o' the first artists signed to The Beatles' Apple Records 'n his only album on that label (James Taylor) is an absolute classic. I'm-a-gonna recommend a track from his third album, one o' my favorite James Taylor songs...You Can Close Your Eyes.
Yes absolutely, I had a celebrity crush on Carly Simon from this performance , mainly a crush on the way that Carly looks at James. In a similar vain is Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi and their performance of Anyday by Derek and the Dominoes at Eri Clapton's Crossroads festival. Susan Tedeschi is a very accomplished guitarist in her own right, The way that she looks at Derek Trucks when he plays totally melts my heart . I believe that this performance was when they were newlyweds and the way she flirts at him with her eyes in priceless.
Not sure who was there but toward the end of the dance break you can see bassist Leland Sklar who played with James and Carly for many years. (Time 4:40-ish of your vid) Some CS hits to check out... "You Belong to Me", "We Have No Secrets" (about a late night talk with James before she left for London to record the album of the same name.), "The Right Thing to Do", "Legend in Your Own Mind", "Anticipation", "Nobody Does It Better" (Theme to the movie, James Bond- The Spy Who Loved Me), & "Coming Around Again" (It was for the film Heartburn in 1986. Never seen so have no reference, but the lyrics feel like she used her breakup with James as inspiration. It was only a couple years after when she wrote it. She and he had two small kids at the time and the reason for the split was she wanted him home instead of always out touring. Not saying it was but in my head that makes sense.) Love both of them so definitely do more from Carly and if you get past the blocker bots, some more James. Big catalog from him.
I think my favorite feel-good live performance! Love James and Carly together. From the same (No Nukes) concert is a great multi-artist performance of Takin' it to the Streets (Doobie Brothers tune). See if you can count/name the performers: ua-cam.com/video/-ErAOrvHfbA/v-deo.html :)
I never heard this song growing up. So when I watched Dumb & Dumber when it came out in the theater, I had no clue what they were singing. And then the migrants keep going “ing.” I was so confused.
The studio version is so much less chaotic. They really are good together. I still say live recordings are great if you were there. Otherwise im not fond of the confusion
@@L33Reacts: I think you (and others doing these UA-cam "first time" music and movie reactions), and particularly you, who would be naturally good at it, should periodically - your call as to how frequently - do an "E-MAIL 'MAIL BAG' " segment, where you respond to your viewers, along with giving an Op-Ed, make corrections, updates, or as in this case from five days ago, use your format to give "WIKIPEDIA" a bit of hell for their being responsible for your inadvertently stating - thanks to that particular WIKI internet page - that Carly, Bob and Joni were ALL on Elektra Records. James Taylor...well worth a deep dive...

Oh yeah!
Carly had a very strong case of stage fright that she didn't get over until later in life
Great pick, Gail, of this duet by two of my favorite singers. Good start to my cloudy Monday. Blessings all.

There's another duet by them, in a much more intimate setting. It's called You Can Close Your Eyes, and it's stunningly beautiful.
That is a stunning song, especially when you delve into the backstory and the meaning.
that's a sweet performance, looks like it was done at their home
Carly Simon had some great hits, but “That’s the Way I Always Heard it Should Be” is the one that really affects me-goosebumps every time.
The guitar player that came out at the end with the wild hair was Waddy Wachtel. He was Linda Ronstadt's guitar player as well.
Glad you mentioned Waddy!
Also Stevie Nicks’ guitarist in her Edge of Seventeen video.
Waddy Wachtel, a.k.a. "Convicted Pedophile Sex Offender".
My parents played so much James Taylor, his voice is golden...
Absolutely a great live performance. One of the best.

This video is from 1979. The song is based on an old lullaby most people know as "Hush, Little Baby." It was written by Inez and Charlie Foxx.
That was a really fun duet ... more from each of them please
We had the great pleasure of seeing them at an impromptu out on the Vineyard one summer as well as a bit of a meet & greet at His brothers' island inn off Cape Cod
She brought James out of his shell.

Never has there been such a rockin' children's song! LOve iT!
What a fun duet! I never tire of watching it. 😊
Wonderful performance!!
NO MORE NUKES, my Friends!
This is one of my favorite duets!
Watch Carly at Martha's Vineyard doing " You Belong to Me"
I can't believe she let him out of the house dressed like that.
Great video!
🌸 this video always makes me happy
🌸 between Carly and a couple of the other musicians on stage, this could have been a shampoo commercial!! 😅😅😅

Oh, to re-live those days.
I actually bought this single back in the day, I just love it, still have it on my playlist of favourite tunes!!😂😂🇬🇧
James Taylor's "Steamroller Blues"!
Great performance!! Amazing chemistry! Check out his Steamroller, live version and and her You Belong To Me live.
Great pick Gail! As always, great reaction Lee!
The late Michael Sanborn on the sax, incredible player.
Great duet! Thanks Gail :)
CROWD GOES WILD.
The original ‘45 was credited to Carly - and yet I love the way JT just completely takes over by the end 😃 never seen this before. Thanks Gail!
James Taylor picks: Sun on the Moon, Shed a Little Light, Shower the People, and Country Road.

And Waddy Wachtel on guitar once again... Dude was everywhere.
"... Dude was everywhere." wachteling off online to child pornography.

Such an awesome song! One of my favorites!
Too bad they got divorced!
Don't forget Mockingbird w/ Carly❤
Pure joy love you
Yo... Madison Square Garden, 1979.... No Nukes concert
Laurel Canyon roots right there. ☮😶🌫️
This is taken from the No Nukes concert movie in 79
It’s exhilarating to be so in love! What a kinship🙂
He’s barefoot.
What a time…!
Fun!
Love you, old man Lee 😀
He's a barefoot junkie who was a louse to the two children Carly bore him.
I never heard this song growing up. So when I watched Dumb & Dumber when it came out in the theater, I had no clue what they were singing. And then the migrants keep going “ing.” I was so confused.
Try James Taylor, Steamroller for another side of him. Fun song!
with Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Watchtel playing in the band. Now part of a band called Immediate Family. Not sure who was on sax.
Waddy Wachtel, a.k.a. "Convicted Pedophile Sex Offender".
You should review You're So Vain
🔥👍🏻🔥
The studio version is so much less chaotic. They really are good together. I still say live recordings are great if you were there. Otherwise im not fond of the confusion
Sadly, drug addiction can kill a loving relationship.
Wally Watchell?? On the guitar!!🤔🇬🇧

Carly Simon was on ELEKTRA RECORDS at the same time as Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell were on ASYLUM RECORDS, NOT Elektra, in 1973-1974.
Take it up with Wikipedia

Love Carly Simon. Despise this particular record. It's up there with We Built This City, YMCA and I'm Your Captain on my personal worst list.
I love this genre of music and especially 70s, but I gotta say this is maybe one of the worst songs ever.
The original is better, a hotter rhythm. Inez and Charlie Foxx. This cover is kind of bland.
