    Man amazing review, amazing content. I love the lens but love how you incorporated your family & your work into this video as well. Lol you sold this lens to me from start to finish, but that TD catch in the endzone, widening out to 35mm as he caught it…..GAME CHANGER on these NFL sidelines bro! Such an authentic interpretation of what this lens is capable of! Amazing job with this bro!

    That NFL footage is absolutely jaw-dropping dude, gorgeous look and feel. That must be the result of the combo of the fx3 and this lens, which really looks like it's straight out of NFL Films. Amazing stuff and love the content.

      Great to hear that. The 28-200 is also a beast for the price. I think it's the best sports lens if you are shooting outside stuff and you are on a budget, and then one you want the most versatile lens on the market, the Tamron 35-150 is it! It's worth every penny!

    Yep, it's definitely suitable for sports. I got the lens last year when it was released and I hadn't shot sports in the last year due to covid protocols, so I sold my 70-200 GM1 to justify the cost. Well wouldn't you know it that I was asked to shoot soccer games a couple of weeks ago and the Tamron was my only far-reaching lens. It actually performed better than I had expected! I shoot RAW and in APS-C mode on the a9. Although I may have to crop dramatically in editing for play on the opposite side of the field, I have a full frame image for when the ball was kicked to my side of the field. Just having that versatility alone is game-changing!

    I also balanced it on the RS2, but I used the lens holder/strap thing and the super smooth setting. It works well, but only as well as you're able to carry it around. Maybe to impress a client, but otherwise a bit too heavy for me...

  • @Berna75
    @Berna75 2 роки тому +2

    Loved the video! There's one thing that I really need to know and I can't find anyone talking about it. Let's imagine you are filming and you set your lens at f2.8 at 35mm for the purpose of having a constant f2.8 zoom all the way through out to 150mm. Have you noticed any exposure "steps" as if the lens would be ajusting the aputure mid zoom in to compensate? Or does the lens go from f2.8 at 35mm to f4 at 150mm? Kind of a very important factor for me for deciding if I should buy the lens.
    PS: A slow zoom would show this "steps" frequent in older lenses more easily (if there are any).

    • @LemarGriffinfilms
      @LemarGriffinfilms  2 роки тому

      Hey Bera first all thanks for watching the video. I wanna make sure I answer right to what your asking... As far as zoom if you set the camera to 2.8 in my case on the Sony A1 and zoom in our out the aputure does not change. Again setting it to 2.8 in Manual mode in my case I have no seen it change while zooming in or out. As for going to F4 at 150 I don't see how that would happen the highest it would go would be 2.8 if you have it set to 2.8 since it a F2-2.8.... hope that helps boss. take care

    I just got back in to photography and am shooting youth football and I want to shoot hybrid since video has such a huge impact on social media these days. I tried the Tamron 70-180 and while it's a great lens, I found that on my Sony A7IV I was standing really far away to frame in certain scenes prior to the ball being snapped and also had issues when trying to capture sideline action near the endzone. Being able to go down to 35mm will be huge, so I've got the 35-150 on backorder at Mike's Camera down in Lone Tree. I probably won't get it before the football season ends, but it'll be great for winter indoor sports.

    • @LemarGriffinfilms
      @LemarGriffinfilms  2 роки тому +1

      Youth Football is still one of my favorite things to shoot, the little guys always have fun. 35-150 is really a good range in sports. I used the 70-180 and liked it as well but I'd rather have a 70-200 if I had to choose. I think you will be really happy with the versatility it give you. Happy shooting man. Thanks for watching the video appreciate it!

      @@LemarGriffinfilms I just got the lens and wow is it heavy and that zoom ring doesn’t like to move very easily seemingly because it’s sealed so well. It pushes and pulls air through the body when you zoom in/out. I’m a little concerned that could move dust around and on to the sensor.
      Not sure if I want to just keep my 24-70 GM2 and get a 70-200 GM2 or just go with this lens and end up saving a bunch of money. Sony G Master is drippy and drip over skill, right? 😅

    My Nikon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 automatically changes the aperture while zooming during filming, even if it's kept at f/8. Does this lens exhibit the same issue? I saw that you zoomed out at 7:54, so you would know. Thanks!

If your shooting indoor sports it's not the best but also you can make it work if it's all you have. Now if you have the money and get paid to use then lens the 35-150 is the choice. You can't go wrong with either of them. I still keep telling people the 28-200 for the money is the best zoom for Sony in my opinion if you shoot outdoors.

    • @LemarGriffinfilms
      @LemarGriffinfilms  2 роки тому +1

      I've never used the RSC2 so I really can't say. I wouldn't use it on the RS2 for a long time but for like the short intro for this video it was fine but I don't think this is a gimbal lens as you'd only really be able to use it at 35 locked. But I could be wrong. It's not very heavy but there is for sure a little weight to it that would make me not want to use it for long periods of time on a gimbal. Thanks for watching

    • @ashmaterial
      @ashmaterial 2 роки тому

      @@LemarGriffinfilms thanks man, so it wont be stabilizing it on 150mm on RS2? i am mainly wedding videographer so was thinking using it all day mostly on gimbal RS2 or RSC2. I know it is heavy but can it stabilize on when lens fully zoomed?

    • @LemarGriffinfilms
      @LemarGriffinfilms  2 роки тому

      @@ashmaterial yeah I don't think having it on a gimbal all day is what this lens is made for. But you can do whatever you like when you buy it. You would need to use it at 35 and lock it or else you would need to re-adjust the gimbal every time you needed to zoom and I shoot weddings so on a wedding day where things are moving fast that would not be ideal. But again you can do it, you'd just have to figure out how to make it work for your needs. Also 150 on the gimbal may be a little bit shaky even on the gimbal but if you try it out let me know how it works, I'd like to hear how you do it

    • @LemarGriffinfilms

      Auto is same as you’d expect from a Sony lens. It’s just as fast. There’s no stabilization in the lens just like there’s none in any of the Sony GM lens other then the 70-200. But with any Sony body’s I tested it on it works just like any other lens. Now when you get out to 150 and your handheld you will definitely notice it but it’s still manageable. I don’t use a monopod so it’s really noticeable but again not to the point where it’s not useable. That’s all for video… for photo it’s on point no complaints at all. Thanks for watching
