Installing deer whistles - Will it ACTUALLY do anything?

- Well, we've all seen a new ford f-150 lightning review, and EV's in general, they are all EXTREMELY quiet. Which means we are faced with certain challenges. One of those challenges is wildlife. My new ford lightning was terrifying to drive at night, in rural areas like the one we live in. Having come from loud obnoxious cars, making tons of noise, this was never really a huge worry of mine, as most people wouldn't want to be near the sound, nevermind animals. I present to you, the safety improvement that may or may not work. This video is obviously more of a joke than anything, but i think it does stand to have a point. And should these little plastic dollar store horns actually work on the new electric ford lightning, it may stand to see another day. I'm really not sure if the deer whistles do work or not, but figured there's no harm in trying.
This video was more of just a joke, but like i said, it definitely can't hurt.
Thanks for tuning in!
Cheers.
Is there clearance behind the whistle for airflow to go through and exit? I believe they work by having air passing through it.
I wonder if there is any audio recording equipment you could use to test with and without to actually measure the change?
There is room for it to go through, but it probably isn't great with the "wall" close behind it now that you mention it like that... Yeah i wonder how that could be measures, I'm guessing some type of frequency measuring tool could be used!
@@AtlanticBuilt ya, didn't want to get in the weeds regarding if they work as advertised... Just the technical question of do they whistle, and how to make them do that best.
Ultimately, best practice is to see and slow down for the deer versus depending on scaring they away... Can't wait for deer night vision on vehicles, or smart deer warning road side reflectors...
@@D0li0 Volvo! They actually have "large animal detection" for day and night. Really do wonder if there is something in the body design to make a sound to detour animals on an EV though.
Might have to revisit this video for updates in say six months or so.
I live in the country and have found unless you are accelerating most gas cars and EVs make about the same amount of noise just driving down the road. Which means it the tires that make the most noise. Just think you are over thinking things a bit. But at the end of the day if the whistles make you feel safer than get them.
What is safer: driving by running, startled deer darting across the roadway, or deer that are on the side of the road barely aware you are zipping by?
I have passed more deer who seemed oblivious to me driving by since having the truck, compared to deer darting across the road in a startled manner.
Very fair point!

Nailed it. 🤣
Hello, my name is Braden Mann. I have a XLT Lighting in Ontario. I love your channel! I’m trying to install a factory trailer brake control module. Ford has them back ordered for months. I’m trying to see if one from an ICE F150 will work and was wondering if you could look under your dash to take a pic of the module part number. I could email with more details if you are willing to help me out. Thanks for considering helping me out. :)
For sure! Where in ON ya? Shoot me an email @ atlanticbuilt@gmail.com!
Hi! :)
Hi Val 😁
Who wants to hear the whistling as your driving down the road I think it would be very irritating after awhile
Hahaha they don't actually make the whistling noise when driving. At least not that I can hear 🤣
It's OK, I already hit the deer
😬
@@AtlanticBuilt at least it was the wife's car 😂
