I bought this phone about 4 weeks ago, it's very impressive. The battery lasts a whole week for me. The only I wish it had was wifi phone calling. Good video.
buyer beware: I have a S60, the touch screen went out in the second week of the purchased. I know this video is about S61 but these are the same people. The manufacturer wanted me to sent it in for service, their nearest location that takes care of their warranty is conveniently far away form population centers. I am on the West coast in California, and there are not around here. 2-3 day shipping and that is not covered under warranty. Since I work with my phone and get jobs though it, cannot be without the phone. So, I have not sent it in yet. I say all this to make the potential buyer think twice and consider the time it take them to take care of the warranty and why a 2 week old phone would have this issue. Being a technician myself, I noticed if I squeeze the phone on the top right and kind of twist it, the touch screen comes back and works sometime for a few day even. and then I have to redo this every time it goes out. Don't get me wrong, I like the functions this phones has that is why I purchased it. I have a thermal Camera for work it is one of the best, Flir T400. but every time I take it out I am nervous about it being stolen and it is an extra box to carry. first I cursed Flir for selling me the Camera for over 10K a few year back. then I purchased the S60. So I don't think that S60 is well put together. Having a top of the line flir Camera at the time of purchase, I can tell you that Flir thermal cameras also are very slow in focusing and I see the same thing being true in the cat s60 phone a very slow focus. I have lost moments which I would have like to captured with the cameras while it is was twiddling in focus not focus, focus not focus mode. There are a few other complains on the net about this phone I agree with all of them. I have had to glue back the bottom speaker cover that comes off, and it is not easy to do, since glue does not stick to it well, I used a work microscope and picking instrument to glue the speaker cover back on and it took a while. it has a very basic software: lets say you have about 10-20 apps open and you want to close them all, well there is no short cut to close all apps as every phone these day have it. you would have to close each app by tapping it close. it is time consuming and frustrating.... I can go on and on... good luck.
You all say that the thermal camera is upgraded with a better resolution of 160x120 pixels. Looking at CAT site and the original manual is says that is ONLY upgaded at the thermal range up to 400c and keep the same resolution of 80x60 as the S60!
I literally just want a phone that wont break when i drop it... dont say get a normal phone and get an otterbox, i still have had phone screens break in cases.
One feature that's not mentioned. Bullitt phones who makes this do not update the os system only security patches. I have the S60 have find that really annoying. Your better of getting a s9 a rugged case and a flir one

Many updates are needed for phones designed to be disposable to sell to slaves for continuous profits. That's why there are thousands of versions of every new device driving up the argument for mass depopulation because the pollution & energy waste is a thousand fold the acceptable levels for pop. In short? This phone isn't made for NEEDY COMMONERS.
If you are worried about screen damage from falls, get a Samsung Flip. When it's closed it's protected and the screen is plastic. Mine has a few dead pixels unfortunately, which is really annoying but at least I don't have a cracked screen after a few months, which was the case on my previous phones.
I've had the s60 the day it came out I'm a plumber it's the best phone I've ever had and it's also a brilliant tool!!! Its been through hell and back and still going strong 💪💪 can't wait to get my hands on the s61 😱😱
Had 2 for work. Camera quality is not good. Flir was a cool feature for work. Dropped many times and held up. We had problems with battery or internal battery charging system after 6 months. It would also for no reason just shut itself completely off and I would have to restart 3-4 times a day. I couldn’t get anybody to warranty or repair it after 6 months.
I'm waiting for sales of this best S61 phone on the market. I used to use SONY smartphones before, that are the part of the sheet with unuseful features like 4K camera and only 64 Gb memory; quick frames movies recorder with 1/600 s frame that can record for very "long" 3 seconds and a lot of problems with Android 8.0, loosing GPS position till the next reboot and so on. The Cat S61 phone as a S60 one are the only phones that can use 2 SIM cards simultaneously with biggest SD card. It can receive calls by both SIM cards. The camera is good enough to use this phone everywhere. Do not listen to some gays, who criticize this phone because it cannot make 4K Instagram photos of their ass. And only this phone can show you with the thermal camera the places of the cold in your house and the sources of the water in your cellar. Wish you to buy this hardware as soon as possible.
Thanks for the review. I'd have been more interested in comparisons with the S60, which this replaces, and whether they had addressed some of it's issues; poor (normal) camera quality, rubber connector plugs, no android updates. Oh, and please record the next one somewhere quiet!!
Got already the S60. Im happy with it. Wished they have a better camera and sound record device. Also it would be an enormous update when i could charge it wireless. But then again, i won't be changing easily to an other brand.
I broke my CAT S60 phone screen and was so disappointed I went back to a normal phone and broke that. Don't believe the hype about Gorilla glass. It is hardly any tougher than normal screen glass. I will be getting an S61 because the tools are useful and not because of it's "tough" build or glass".
Had a CAT S60, then went to Samsung and my next phone will be a CAT S61. I don't like claims of "tough phone or/unbreakable" because it is not the drop from height that damages the phone but how it lands (usually screen down). The so called Gorilla glass is in my experience of smart phones over the last five years misleading. It breaks as easily as glass breaks and believe me I have broken a lot of screens during my work. All that being said, they are better than the standard phones available and as such I will be going back to CAT.
What's the OS like compared to the new Samsungs? My concern is that it's slow and clunky. I'm thinking of one of these instead of the S10e for the durability mostly and the thermal / laser features. The S61 only has 4gb ram compared to 6gb on the S10e (or 8gb with upgrade) plus slower CPU and GPU... But trade off for the other features.... Really not sure tbh!

Lost photos. Screen unresponsive. Help centre staffed by agency when I phoned them (at a cost of £15 - premium rate) he said basically he was unable to help! I'm left with a £800 6 month old phone which is unreliable.
I was thinking about buying this phone from Amazon. But I noticed Amazon listed only a one year warranty but Cats website indicated at 2 yr warranty from the date of purchase. So I called Cat. What a joke, their website says 2 yr warrant for the S61 where you push the button to buy but shows only a one year warrant at the bottom. I spoke to the a service rep who said it was a mistake and said Cat offers only a 1 year warranty but allows the consumer to extend for another year at a cost that he was unable to provide me. Sounds like they do not know what they are doing. I would love to have this phone but with all the service issues I am hearing, I am stuck with getting an S9.

Absolute piece of junk. Bought new in the UK less than 9 months ago for £800 ($1000), the camera is worse than my 20 year old Nokia, you press the button and about a second later the shutter closes, and don't you dare move otherwise it's a blurry shot... For the past few weeks the charging and holding charge was pretty dodgy, but as of today 8th if September 2019, it's officially screwed: went from 68% charge to ZERO in 3 MINUTES!!! What an absolute joke. So I tell you what Cat phones, you can take your overpriced brick back and I'll have a refund. I would not buy it for sure it's the same shit like the S60 and the two years guarantee of not breaking the screen is bullshit I used s60 fell to the ground and crashed the screen and now the service does not want to accept the warranty because they said... (Is moisture inside the phone) bullshit.....they want 514,01€ for repairing the phone if someone wants I can paste correspondence with the service ...

RAY NL they produce faster phones? Talking about lag? It's easy to do when there's nothing challenging running on them. What runs on an iPhone X or S9 that's super challenging to it..... nothing. I severely doubt the fore mentioned phones would do better or they'd also have all the Cat61 gadgets.

O.k, my private phone is iphone 8 but the phone that i got from my work is S8: honestly? i can't stand the S8 and i choose my iphone 8 over it any time.
i am not apple/Google fan at all and i had many android phones during the years and i had enough of it.
The iphone simply doesn't bother you all the time with non inportant information ,unlike with android that gives me a headache ,and also the most important thing : it works good!! (all the time).

Absolute piece of junk. Bought new in the UK less than 9 months ago for £800 ($1000), the camera is worse than my 20 year old Nokia, you press the button and about a second later the shutter closes, and don't you dare move otherwise it's a blurry shot... For the past few weeks the charging and holding charge was pretty dodgy, but as of today 8th if September 2019, it's officially screwed: went from 68% charge to ZERO in 3 MINUTES!!! What an absolute joke. So I tell you what Cat phones, you can take your overpriced brick back and I'll have a refund. Except of course that no one ever gets their money back even if the product they've spent their hard earned cash on is WAY BELOW the advertised standards... Is this all a con? Are we all that gullible and stupid? Discuss.

This is shit , like phone for 60 $ from amazon, only have termo vision camera and water resistant .
Laser measures it is joke , calibration no help, is slow and lost WiFi signal from 5m.
Same with network always disconnected me ,I used same SIM card from 10 years.

Cat are refusing to replace my phone - Cat S61. Less than 6 months -

unresponsive. Help centre staffed by agency when I phoned them (at a
cost of £15 - premium rate) he said basically he was unable to help! I'm
left with a £800 6 month old phone which is unreliable.
