Hey so I'm a bit confused. I've had my S61 for about 2 and a half weeks now and you mention in the video that the thermal resolution is up to 120x160 over the old 80x60. And a few others I've spoken with have said that as well, but my manual specifications state that the thermal resolution is 80x60. Which is it? I'm a bit dissapointed in the resolution if it truly is only 80x60.
I'm getting a problem with the S61 "My Flir". Pop up keeps saying "I just had it Re-Flashed FLIR APP KEEPS STOPPING"
I picked this up from Clove yesterday. Will be interesting to see how this works
@B G The thermal is pretty accurate. The measurement is not. As the measurement tool requires the camera to use, poor lighting and reflective surfaces cause very inaccurate results. Thermal is very good though, with some pretty accurate readings. CAT phones have said that the PIE update is scheduled for 3/4 of this year.
@B G You should hopefully be able to get it alittle cheaper now. I bought mine from Clove

I got It yesterday,and I love It. The thermal cam works perfectly and the Air sensor too. The best con is the laser,isnt too precise.

After I calibrated the laser, it stayed accurate to within an inch, usually.
I like everything about this phone.

You can check the continuous operation of the thermal imaging camera for 30 minutes, so that the battery does not discharge, turn on for charging.
If possible, remove these 30 minutes of the smartphone to another camera, after the video, squeeze up to 1 minute and put on UA-cam
How do you get it to just measure the heat in red as shown on the stove top?
Its keeps impressing me Flir's edge detection [MSX] even on blank TV screens. 13:08 and the lack of resolution (19.200] here is MSX certainly a huge help if there is enough optic light to paint and help the edgedetection.
maybe it was me there missed it, but where the examples from only the thermal-cam [no msx] and to sense how it will perform fx under no or restricted light.

OMG, me too. Today I got a FLIR One PRO, it broke in same day after 20 photos, connector snapped inside. NOT fixable or replaceable.
Well this could have been a better review, by a certified thermographer, but overall not bad. And that hot spot you see on your wii is a reflection. Play with the emissivity and you’ll really see some neat stuff. Anything below .6 cannot be deemed accurate.
The CAT S60 has very bad primary camera. The pictures were always a little bit blurry. Is there an improvement in the main camera from the S61?
Hello2106 From what I've seen so far, yeah. The old one was 13 megapixels and the new one is 16 megapixels.
ctuan13 thanx for replying. Yes, I've seen that too. But the number of megapixel is not an indicator for quality pictures. We will see it in a few days ever since the S61 is released.
Yeah, from what I've read though, CAT made an effort to improve the main camera.
And is it released? There was some article that said it wouldn't be released in the US and yet I went to CAT's US site and they showed a page for the S61... so I'm not sure
ctuan13 you can pre-order it since the 20th of June. Day of delivery supposed be the 5th of July according CAT support (chat)
Unfortunately, Clove Technology is flat out wrong in this review. The thermal camera resolution is not, repeat NOT, 160x120, it is only 80x60, the same as in the old Cat S60 model. Why the maker of this phone, The Bullit Group, choose to put an old and outdated FLIR Lepton module inthe brand new Cat S61, instead of an up-to-date Lepton 3,5 module w. 160x120 resolution, is beyond comprehension. Cheapskates!
This was the factor that made me decide not to buy the phone. Got a Note 9 instead. I'll get a CAT phone when they have a higher resolution thermal camera. 80x60 might be good enough for HVAC, but as an electrician I need to know where the problems are precisely
Why your video has some lag??
Because it has a standard 8hz refresh rate...Any faster and you can't take it on holiday with you without sorting out an export order!
There already was the thermal imaging on the older S60. Why does everyone that have an early phone stop on that feature that much. Didn't you notice, that it has a FREAKING LASER!!! The phone is released on friday and no one has made a laser distance measuring video. There are many thermal imaging videos though. What is it? Is it embargoed? That phone had an icon for 8m of measurement, on the case it says 10m What is it? Can it do more than 10 and what is the fault then? Please please put something up before friday. I really want to see if I can measure stuff from 20, 30, 40 meters and what is the approximate fault on higher distances. Thanks.
Codeplayer I showed the laser measurement tool in my unboxing video and touched upon it in my review video. Feel free to check out my channel! It really does measure out to 26 feet or about 8 meters. I will be doing a video in the future on each one of the built-in tools on the S61, so stay tuned.
One of the biggest problem in this video is that you talk about features, but you don't show them. Why don't you click all these things and show how they work for example on the table lamp?
Slow Mo Video Recording would be a nice feature to have on this phone.
it doesn't but maybe it can be later made possible with rom update
@@eco_logic That isn't something that can be fixed with patches. Slow motion requires high framerate recording, sometimes requiring special hardware.
Why is your video so choppy?
Probably wrong settings between the video files from the recording device, and the program/editing software where they've made the video with. EU standard is 25 frames per second. Could be that this vid is edited with a 15 frames setting. Therefore a wobbely/choppy result after rendering this video out. Anyhow: the original settings of the recorded video in combination with non-mirrord settings in the editing, most likely the hick-up.
Good review, but the thermal camera is 80 by 60, confirmed through CAT, also its an individual thermal camera, one does not overlay over the other. Good phone, too pricey.
A hand is no challenge for any IR camera, next time try an electronical board and see whether it can diagnose thermal loads on small components
Whats the range outdoor?
Will depend on weather. If in humid weather it will wash it out as the air is emitting enough infrared to obscure subjects with similar temperatures. On a cool dry day it will probably see much farther.
Shit no phone, my 3 month old c61 it turned off suddenly and doesn't work 😠😠😠.

The frame rate on the thermal module is terrible and its laggy but dosnt need to be, I enquired to bullit about the issue and they said it was for legal reasons in the US (only the US mind) and they wouldn't do anything about it, the reason they gave me is that in the US it could be used to see through peoples clothes live where as with a load of lag and low frame rate it renders the use of it useless for this purpose.

Hi Derek, yes you can change the settings in the FLIR app to display Fahrenheit or Celsius
That's the s60 not the s61.
No it isn't. The S60 has speaker and mic hatches, and the buttons are textured. This phone has neither.
Try to fix your hand next time or at least make less moves, be somewhat predictable when it comes to movement. I feel seasick after watching two minutes
Am I the only American that hates the customary system? In my house, I've converted everyone to the metric system. All of America should as well.
only reason america has a different system was to not be like its european counterparts, metric is still usually easier to read.
