Hi! Thanks for the review! Do you have any recommendations for a phone similar to this one? I would buy this phone if it was lighter and had more storage.
I’m considering this to downplay my screen time. I also need an app to clock in and out of and an app to communicate with at work so this is perfect. I also rely on maps so just what I’ve hoped for.
Got one for € 50 on eBay. What's not to like at that price? Got the 62pro too. Looks like new even after 2 years. Heat camera comes in more useful than I thought.
Thankyou. I am also looking for such Keypad mobiles for the daily usage but wondering by using this device can we interconnect this module with the navigation device in car for maps assistance. Or how can we compensate with navigation support that we can get with smart phone as specially in car driving?
Hello great video! I’ve got 2 questions, can you use music apps like Spotify with plug in / headphones. And secondly would the phone work in Australia?
It’s full retail. Sadly it’s not unlocked. In order to do that, you have to pay them extra $60 and keep it active for 2 months. After that, they’ll unlock it.

Hello Jose, I appreciate you and you channel very much. Thank you! I recently bought a 2022 Toyota my smart phone was paired for my needs. Last week I bought the CAT s22 Flip phone, put my old sim chip in and paired it with the car, but now I can't connect to Google Maps, Android Auto seems unavailable for it as well. I noticed you pulled up Maps fine on this video, can you please advise? I do want to keep this phone, but I don't want to make my car dumb, if you know what I mean. Or add a monthly fee for an app if possible.Thank you
@@JoseBriones Thanks for your response. Do you think it will work in Canada. If I buy an unlocked one? Someone people say yes.... others no? Thoughts?
I switched to this after using a Kyocera DuraXT for seven years. It has not been a pleasant switch. I wish this CAT had true T9. One other frustration, though it may seem minor, is that its nearly impossible to flip open with one hand.
Jose, WHEN SENDING TEXT MESSAGES, DO YOU TEXT FROM THE NUMBERS ON PHONE OR FROM THE SCREEN? DOES IT HAVE A BLOCK FEATURE? DOES IT HAVE A VARIETY OF RING TONES?
Jose, this phone was selling for about $270.00 in 2021 but I see it now being sold in 2023 in the US on many web sites, even Amazon, for about $70.00, unlocked. Why the price drop? Another important question, ,Jose: what does T Mobile charge you for a monthly cell phone carrier service for the CAT S 22?
Can you assign phone numbers to the buttons for quick dialing frequent numbers? Also, T-Mobile provides free data and texting overseas, so WhatsApp can be used for calls. Will it work on this phone too?
I like you're videos and really like this phone, I live in scandinavia, will this work here or do you know of an alternative phone with android go? I spent to much time on my Iphone. but I need a transition phone not a KaiOS one.
Do you need to touch the screen in order to scroll up/down the page or can you use the arrow keypad to scroll up and down as well? I'm looking to transition to a dumbphone and this seems to be a good transition phone. It would be great to not have to rely on touching the screen as much.
Just bought this phone. I gave up on many phones for reasons of them just being terrible and dropping calls or losing service. I had the light phone for a bit but no navigation that is actually useful.. sucks because that’s something I need, due to all the new places I drive to. Hopefully this phone will do and it’s like $60 on Amazon . Fingers crossed it finally gets me off my phone 😅
Hi Jose...Can this phone be used via AT&T ? Is it available through Amazon? I can't find it there. Many thanks and yes, I'm a subscriber to your channel. It great! 🙏♐
Any idea how well the GPS feature works? I bought the Titan Pocket and love it, but the GPS gets lost in city all the time, so it is pretty unreliable. Would you recommend this phone? Or just getting a Garmin like you reviewed in another video? Thanks!
The texting on this phone is terrible and mine has some kind of flaw where if I have the auto lighting on and open it in the dark the screen doesn’t even turn on.
thank you so much for making this video - my only question is do you think this would be a god dumb phone? I'm trying to be more connected to nature and the real world but I also need apps like Snapchat and Google Maps, I fear that I will just use this flip phone just as much as my current iPhone, do you have any advice / resources on how to utilise these transition phones and be disconnected from them? thanks in advance!
Once you see the screen resolution and how awkward is to hold the phone, you'll see that it's easy to disconnect with it. The different form factor helps a lot! It's not a 100% replacement, but it's great
I just got this device and Android Auto is missing from the app store. I adb installed the app and it won’t launch because it needs the full version of the Google app to function. Were you able to get Android Auto working or am I missing something?
I am in love with this phone but...is there any way to find a CAT phone similar to this that supports dual sim? If they had the S22 for dual sim, that would be total perfection! Usually markets outside the US have dual sim options but the S22 seems to only be found on the US market?

I kinda tumbled around the minimalist phone deal earlier this month, started with the 6300 4G, moved to the (current) Nokia 2780, and now I'm eyeing this, still wanna be able to use discord and my messaging apps, so this interests me a ton.
This thing looks amazing for elderly folks and I don't understand why Cat is not already selling it unlocked worldwide on Amazon.
They are selling it on Amazon unlocked
Just ordered 2 from Amazon... Unlocked...
Its like Agm M7 and Alcatel Smartflip had a baby, I just want it, best of both worlds (love flip phones)
Man this seems like the perfect phone for me. Only it's not available in Canada 🥺
$79.99
Great review! Am I able to download and listen to Spotify/Pandora on it?
Yes
Thanks for the review! I would definitely have bought it if I didn't just get a new phone! Next time for sure!
Great review! I just wonder what are the two round holes in the lower part of the back?...Thanks!
Contact pins for charging on a dock.
Fantastic review! How is texting on the touchscreen?
Pretty seamless.
We went with this one! Do you have somewhere where you wrote or did a video about all the ways you can customize this phone? (dumber and smarter) Thanks!
Thank you for this amazing review!!!
Hi Jose!
Thanks for your videos and divulgation :)
I have a question. Do some feature phones have compatibility with QR Codes?
Thank you!
Yes. Some do, others don't. The CAT S22 flip does.
Thanks for this video ! Was just wondering if you knew if it worked on vodafone in the UK ?
It should
Hi! Thanks for the review! Do you have any recommendations for a phone similar to this one?
I would buy this phone if it was lighter and had more storage.
Oh and that has hotspot
For the US? Look at Japanese phones. Outside of the US? TTFone
You cannot connect it to a car module
hi jose i like your glasses, what kind of shape/style are they and where would i go to buy a pair for my self?
I got them at Warby Parker. They are the Alvin on their collection.
Hello great video!
I’ve got 2 questions, can you use music apps like Spotify with plug in / headphones. And secondly would the phone work in Australia?
Australia, yes it should work. Spotify will work but not with plug in headphones. Only with bluetooth.
Thanks Jose! Out of curiosity, are there any other android based "transition" phones that you would recommend in the same vein of the Cat S22?
You are the goat of dumbphoned❤
Thank you. it was a good review. Just wanted know the price mentioned 270 $. Is it a unlocked version or with a contract?
It’s full retail. Sadly it’s not unlocked. In order to do that, you have to pay them extra $60 and keep it active for 2 months. After that, they’ll unlock it.
I just got one for my Dad for $62.00 on Amazon and that's with tax. I hope he Likes it.
Great video. Does this phone work on Straight talk prepaid I'm in Tennessee? Please let me know if you can.
Thanks so much for the video. Can you tell me if it works in the UK and on Lycamobile/O2?
It should. Many people have imported it and used it in the UK
@@JoseBriones Thanks for the advice. This phone sounds perfect for me but I'm a bit worried about the size in my pocket (having always used small old style dumb phones). Do you know the length when closed as the dimensions of 119.4 x 61 x 23 mm must refer to the length being 119.4 when it's open, but I can see it's not exactly half the size when it's closed.
Respect Jose. You do what you do very professionally. I really like this phone, but here in Serbia (Europe-Balkans) it is still not on the market. Do you have any information on whether it will appear on the European market in the near future and what are the other ways to get it?
For now it’s just a matter of waiting. I believe that CAT will release an international version, but they have an exclusivity agreement with T-Mobile as of right now. Maybe by 2022 :)
Still no news for an European version?
You can import the phone over ebay, may get a expensive. Be sure to buy the UNLOCKED version
You are underrated asf😢
Does it have any social medias?
Like tiktok
And can you use apps to ft?
Yes and yes.
Hellou! Can you tell me please, how good is the hotspot function? And the battery life when using the hotspot. Thanka in advance!
It's good. Less than a day for battery life
Hi Jose,
You made me buy this phone ! Do you know if it's possible to type directly with the 12 key pad without having the help of the Kika ("T9" kind of thing) ?
Thank you so much to have done this video about the best phone of the world (for me...).
You'd have to install a different app like K9T9 find it on GitHub.
@@JoseBriones thank you for the tip !
I've found 'Old T9 keyboard' on the play store... I'm installing it right now to check if it's worth it
Hello Jose, I appreciate you and you channel very much.
Or add a monthly fee for an app if possible.Thank you
Hi, great video, can you tether with the s22 ?
Yes
This looks Great. Can you get the Airbnb App on this phone?
Yes.
@@JoseBriones Thanks for your response. Do you think it will work in Canada. If I buy an unlocked one? Someone people say yes.... others no? Thoughts?
It should with an unlocked one.
I switched to this after using a Kyocera DuraXT for seven years. It has not been a pleasant switch. I wish this CAT had true T9. One other frustration, though it may seem minor, is that its nearly impossible to flip open with one hand.
What do you mean by true T9? It has a triple click if you press the # key
@@JoseBriones press the # key when? All it does it type a ‘#’ into the text field.
@@Erix7810 Huh. Odd. Try holding it, maybe that changes it. Another way is to go to the notification bar and swipe down and click on the keyboard.
Jose, WHEN SENDING TEXT MESSAGES, DO YOU TEXT FROM THE NUMBERS ON PHONE OR FROM THE SCREEN? DOES IT HAVE A BLOCK FEATURE? DOES IT HAVE A VARIETY OF RING TONES?
It does have both options to text, you can block spam, and yes for rigntones!
The phone was discontinued and due to that it got a reduction in price. The monthly cost of a T-Mobile plan ranges from 25 to $50
Waiting to test drive this in Canada, if possible.
This reminds me of Samsung folder phones thanks for the review 👍👍
I'm hoping by the time my contract is up, Verizon will have an equivalent. 1.5 years baby.
This is the phone I need.
Can you assign phone numbers to the buttons for quick dialing frequent numbers?
Also, T-Mobile provides free data and texting overseas, so WhatsApp can be used for calls. Will it work on this phone too?
Great review, one question. How do you get the key pad to work with the letters? Or can we only use the touch screen for texting? Thank you
You can do both. Under settings you can set up your preferred method for texting.
Can you please explain further. I cannot get t9 to work at all even when texting.
@@BG22532 you have to set your default keyboard in the settings
I like you're videos and really like this phone, I live in scandinavia, will this work here or do you know of an alternative phone with android go? I spent to much time on my Iphone. but I need a transition phone not a KaiOS one.
I love the price of this thing, but I'll probably go with a Moto Razr+.
Do you need to touch the screen in order to scroll up/down the page or can you use the arrow keypad to scroll up and down as well? I'm looking to transition to a dumbphone and this seems to be a good transition phone. It would be great to not have to rely on touching the screen as much.
For most apps you can use the keys. Some apps only work with touchscreen.
Thank for info video❤. I’ve question: can I use in poland with gsm operator from europe? Regards
You should be able to
Just bought this phone.
It great! 🙏♐
Not available through Amazon yet. It’s only via T-Mobile.
Jose...can this phone be linked to AT&T instead of T-Mobile? Thanks! 🙏♐
@@AladdinSaneNYC once unlocked yes.
Any idea how well the GPS feature works? I bought the Titan Pocket and love it, but the GPS gets lost in city all the time, so it is pretty unreliable. Would you recommend this phone? Or just getting a Garmin like you reviewed in another video? Thanks!
I'd get a garmin tbh. However, in a pinch, the GPS is very reliable
@@JoseBriones great to know! Love what you’re doing man! Life is 10x better without the doom scrolling!
Jose, can you recommend a similar phone for the US market that's not quite so rugged/heavy/large?
No such thing yet. Xiaomi F21 pro is the closest, but it doesn't work everywhere.
@@JoseBriones Thanks!
It's not a 100% replacement, but it's great
Happy new year ! Will it work in canada?
Yes if it's unlocked.
Does this phone support Android Auto out of the box? Thanks for the review. I feel like this is the phone I've been waiting for.
Yes. You can install Android Auto and use it with this device since it uses Google Services :)
@@JoseBriones thanks for the info, and awesome review. How did testing Android Auto go?
@@ericpalkovich It works without issues
@@JoseBriones that's all I needed to know.
Buying this device today.
Only in the US for now. No Dual SIM phones like this one yet sadly.
