    Thank you so much! Disclaimer: I'm not a barber. My mom was a hairdresser growing up and she's cut the whole family's hair in the kitchen, I am talking great great grandparents down to me and my cousins. She can't do it anymore and is low income these days. She can't afford to go get her own hair done after all she's done for us. That's how I ended up stepping in for my family in her footprints. My sister, her man, and their 8 kids, one of my cousins, my daughter, everyone is in my kitchen now trusting me with clippers. 😆 I have studied and learned so much but I'm not prefect and I'm certainly no pro. I just want my family looking and feeling good about themselves, especially the kids and my momma. Thank you so much for giving us this video. It connects a couple dots that will really improve my skillset. I know I'm not your intended audience and it's not ideal, but you helped me take care of my family better with this video. Thank you for this. Be blessed.

    That is a great cut. I just finished school in Oct I take my written test the 31 of May. Just wanna add I am 59 😊 and female. I love this profession only wish I would have started in my 20 lol. I am struggling a bit, not sure why 😮 fear I am always scared. I am a level 1 Barber at my shop my cuts are $20.00 and I take too long. I really need to figure out where my problem is. I have bills to pay lol finding you just today has been a blessing. Thank you for sharing your talent. I am getting lost in the cut for sure. The non confidence and being afraid is not helping. 😢 I am getting better and really have only been cutting now for 3. months. School was the biggest joke and a waste of time and money Not an experience I will cherish. I do work with a great team of barbers and they are very helpful. I just wish at some point this will start clicking in my head so that I can find my own nitch. Thank you to all the Barbers out there everyone has been helpful and kind 😊

      All your saying literally everyone goes through, trust me. I started in a salon in August. My mens cuts take anywhere from 15 to 25mins. Only time i take longer is if its a bald fade, burst fade or anything that requires a smooth blend. Get BabyLiss Pros. They have 4 notches on the side rather than just opened and closed which makes it so much easier to blend that line out. Clipper over comb just takes practice, u will get it. My anxiety was so bad when i first got on the floor i thought i was having a damn heartattack and started taking Prozac lmao true story. Good luck on your boards. I got a 73 the 1st time and u needed a 75%, literally a difference of a question. But i just retook it tuesday and i passes. The test should be hands on, its stupid now

    Why not go straight with the 2? I always take the 2 all the way up until i run out of hair. What is the benefit of going straight up with the 3 then going with the 2 acter? I assume you stop the 2 just before the parietal ridge? Thanks!

    • @beingashope
      @beingashope 2 роки тому +1

      I was gonna say this. I think it’s more “safe” to use a 3 so you don’t accidentally cut off too much, but if you’re comfortable with your clippers just scoop with the 2. That’s what I do! Like some people put a guard on when they use their blending comb so they don’t go too short but I feel comfortable enough going straight in with the blade clipper over comb.

    • @Seancutshair
      @Seancutshair  2 роки тому +2

      Yes it’s safer I personally can feed the two right in and leave the hair that I want. But for people new to this concept a 2 can be dangerous and can leave the client with a fauxhawk

    • @beingashope
      @beingashope 2 роки тому

      @@Seancutshair I remember when I first started cutting hair to avoid blending I’d just take the 2 all the way up to the parietal ridge not leaving any weight and then cutting into an angled triangle shape up top. I literally gave everyone faux hawks. 😅😅😅

      @jean-francoismartinbault1142 2 роки тому +2

      I’m going to try your technique! My problem is that I am so afraid of rounding off with the two, that I often have to clipper over comb a lot to compensate and make the blend OK. Perhaps going straight up with the three will prevent me from being too conservative and then I will follow up with the two underneath

    Very well done, Sean!
    I've been a barber since 1969 and these youtube videos either display some techniques I'd like to try or affirm some I've come to learn through my basic school training, but mostly experience and methods I've developed over time.
    One technique that stands out in this video is for a right handed barber to cut at 90 degrees from front to back on the client's left side, eliminating the "umbrella" effect. This is especially useful for balancing haircuts on a bell shaped face with angled toward the middle upper sides. This is the ONLY way to create a "squarish" effect.
    I've found the results justify a few extra minutes examining head/face shape and hair growth pattern. Thanks for a great educational video!!

      I don’t have anything white or andis. I use a Babyliss fx02 custom color shaver. That may be what you’re asking about. It works super well

    Thank you for the straight forward was and layman’s terms lol. Just a question, are you messing with the levers in between the taper? Or is it guard work only? You have another sub!

      I use tomb45 indestructible clay. It’s matte finish and a certain clay that expands and makes hair seem fuller.

    I like your style not just the clippers.alot of barbers think that everyone has what they called kinki hair? All hair is not the same. One thing that I noticed too, what the heck wrong with people scalp. From other people videos their scalp looks like dyhadrade or something.

      Common for people to have dry scalp. It happens 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Gamma boosted or stylecraft rebel. Basically the same clipper just a few minor differences

    Never ever went to barber but thats exactly how I've been trimming myself for 25 years with that style of blending rather than doing a hard edge. That way I dont need to look horrible midway through and its faster and easier.

    I prefer my sides and alla round with 1 on the shaver. Looks best. Some cutters struggle with starting at 1 at the bottom and then going to using scissor cut on the top. One time I ended up with a military face cuz the cutter couldn't do the shave blending. Some people are better skilled than others!
