    What’s the difference between the S30, S30 Pro, and the S30 Pro Max? That’s easy- the S30 is a 5 watt laser, the S30 Pro is a 10 watt laser, and the S30 Pro Max has a 20 watt laser! All other features are the same!
    Did you know the work area of the S30 series is expandable from 400mm to over 900mm? For those of us in the USA that’s expanding from 16 inches to over 35 inches! Time to create some HUGE projects!

    I put my sculpfun together and everything seemed fine. When I went to use it, the laser won't move. I can push it around but it won't move on it's own. It acts like it is trying to but can't. I'm wondering if it's a belt issue. Maybe I have them too tight or too loose. I put them in according to the directions but did not pay attention to the "tread position". The teeth are facing down toward the gear but does it matter which direction they go? Any thoughts on what the problem is?

      Sorry to hear- I have not experienced that. There is Facebook group "Official Group for Sculpfun Users"- I would recommend connecting with them- there's usually some people that can help. Reaching out to Sculpfun is also another good option.

    I am just getting started and am having trouble matching or finding test files with proper settings on the net for the 33 Ultra .Would you have a test file to share for a 30 Ultra 33w .

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  9 місяців тому

      Hi- congrats on your laser machine! I use Lightburn software and there's a built in feature to make easy test files. It's under "Laser Tools" and then "Material Test". From there you can pick your speed and power to create the test pattern. I start with very wide settings from low to high and then run another 1-2 test patterns to narrow down the best settings for the machine and material. Lightburn does offer a FREE 30 day trail if you are not currently using it. Best wishes and thanks for watching!

    I have one more question - Can this laser hardwoods like walnut or maple? and how deep if it can.

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Рік тому +2

      Yes- I can engrave hardwoods. The depth depends on the the actual piece of wood- wood as you know has a lot of natural variation. The focus of the laser can be set about 2mm lower than normal and will provide deeper engraving.

    Hi there. Thanks so much for this video. I just setup my S30; it's my first laser. I have no idea what I'm doing. I have pieces of wood on which I will be engraving just text. How does the laser know where to start engraving so that the text is centered on the wood? Do I have to put in the coordinates of the wood?

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Рік тому +1

      Hi, congratulations on your new machine! The easiest way to start when using LightBurn software is to simply type your text. Anywhere will work for now. Check that the "Start Position" in Absolute Coordinate and click the "Home" button. Click the "Frame" button in the LightBurn software- this will move the laser around to the text area- place your material under the laser and click Frame again to make sure the laser travels over the material- adjust as needed. There's free 30 day trial of LightBurn software with all features unlocked.

    I am looking for a desktop sized machine to make small cards out of A4 paper. First the cards are printed on the A4 and then they are manually cut. As it takes hours I would like to automate it, would a laser be a good option for that?

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  9 місяців тому

      Yes- a laser diode machine will have no problems cutting through cardstock! I recommend using an air assist kit with the machine because will reduce the laser cut char that can occur on the edges. Thanks for watching!

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  6 місяців тому

      @@michaelainsworth627 I would say they are standard quality. They do block the harmful wavelengths of the laser. Better glasses will be more comfortable. Look for glasses rated to block 455±5nm. I haven't purchased any glasses- I use what comes with the laser and I also use a laser enclosure that blocks most of the scatter laser along with not looking directly at the laser spot on the work material. Thank you for being safe with your eyes!

    Do you think it’s worth it to go big (20w)? The price jump is quite a lot

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Рік тому +1

      I agree there's a big price jump- I recommend budgeting for as much machine as possible while making sure there's money left over to buy craft materials. I also shop at the Dollar Tree to play around cutting/ engraving poster board, there's cheap picture frame glass, and wood blanks that are usually 2-4 mm thick. Not the best wood but great for learning and playing around.

      Which one to buy is always a tough one to answer. Both machines have a similar build type. The Sculpfun S30 Pro does include a full air assist kit with pump that can be controlled in LightBurn software. The Ortur LM2 pro includes a partial air assist- the air pump is purchased separately. One way to look at the purchase is the total cost with air assist (it really is that important!), the honeycomb board, and other accessories like a rotary unit. Overall, I both brands and machines are great.

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Рік тому

      Hi Ken- the focal point is 0.06x0.08mm. This will work nicely for both engraving and cutting! To focus there's a round aluminum focus spacer that is placed on the work material- the laser body is then lowered to the top of the aluminum focus spacer to set the focus distance. The aluminum spacer is 1.97" (~50mm) long.
