Luke you need a lovely big terracotta pot for that olive tree would look fabulous and make sure you have a large wide bed for those lupins Looking forward to seeing them in place 😊
@@LukeCatleugh I have rocks at the end of mine and the grass still grows over them . I think it would be easier to not have anything and just trim edges after mowing.
I misheard you say Zahara was not with you and when you drove off I thought she had been left behind!!!! I love that the Olive tree fit your car. I’m guilty of buying large things to put in a small car
Costco is a great shopping experience Luke, you always come out of the store with more than you expected . Bulk items save you so much in the end. Especially looking rolls, laundry and kitchen soaps, and other cleaning products. I have picked up some English cheeses here in the states and love them. Your olive tree is lovely. I think you would over crowd the garden with two olive trees as the do get very tall and provide shade too. But maybe it would be great in a larger pot. You have such a nice sunny back garden, maybe consider a Meyer lemon tree, they are beautiful lemons and as much as you love to cook and bake would be nice to have. They can be grown in a pot like they do In Italy. They have container lemon trees I believe. I would love one where o live but not the right lighting. You got some good bargains. Enjoyed your vlog as usual. Love to you, Zara and Maggie. ❤❤I❤
Hi Luke, the garden looks fantastic. Wow, you have made it beautiful. Mmmmm I think the next big tree that you will fit into your car will be a Christmas tree❤. Thanks for showing us your Costco haul. Take care Gale x
That was so much fun going through a U.K. Costco with you Luke; I’m in Canada so it was interesting to see the different items that you can get in the U.K. vs. what we get in Canada. I’ve never seen the cauliflower hash browns, but I will look to see if there is anything like this available at my Costco when I go next week. Also, re the Ninja Creami, my friend purchased on of these and made us two different types of frozen deserts. One was with yogurt and berries and the second was with just frozen fruit (so more of a sorbet than an ice cream); both were amazing! It is a way for you to make a frozen desert for the summer months that is healthier and you know what the ingredients are. Edited to add that I think the olive tree was a great purchase for your garden, which is looking so beautiful. I can’t believe the difference in your garden from when you first moved in to now.
Love the olive tree! I would think about planting it on the left fence half way down between the patio and the pine on the right. Plant it far enough out to where the canopy will be free of the fence as it grows (find growth details online). I would build out beds to the bottom of the pine to the whidth you have now and the same width under the olive tree. With beds on both sides, meander the beds where they have soft lines appealing to the eye. Use hoses or rope laid out to see what looks good. Leave a grass center that wanders through to the back. Forget the stepping stones and the mower. Your yard is so small, if you want beds, let them be a showplace! You can very well create those different heights like in the Queens garden on both sides, and the garden will hug you in, create texture and interest, and bring delightful scents and visions of birds and bees galore! Put down a weed barrier fabric before you plant, and put down a really thick cover of mulch after you plant. I love the large pine bark nuggets, bc they last for years and I just and add a little on top each year rather than having to completely haul in new mulch (like the shredded or small nuggets that beaks down completely) every year! Orrrrrrr, widen one side now and the other later. Again, I would not do stepping stones. Those are good in large areas, but a little odd in small yards. I see them all the time in my community of old small homes. And they just seem very out of place! If you buy a lawn mower, bc folks are knocking y'all about the stringer, buy a very small electric one with a bagger. That's all you need for the size of your yard, and it will be good for mulching leaves in the fall. All that you bag, green and brown, may go in a mulch pile for your beds next year! Happy plants! If you don't want the expense and hassle of the mower, use the dang stringer! You'll be done in a jiffy and the grass will look fine and appreciate the clippings as they disintegrate into the ground. Happy grass! Note: I've pretty much just explained my small yard! LOL! My beds come out wide and are lined with border grass. In the 25 years since I started, I have love seeing how the beds frame my yard. That's all of my Garden Geek tips from my view for now. I'm never one to say you're wrong, bc it is your garden! I love the size and, like mine, I love the potential! So excited to see what comes next!
Thurrock is right on top of Lakeside shopping Centre and then if you go through the Dartford Tunnel, you've got Bluewater shopping Centre. The Ikea at Thurrock is a nice size too.
When I moved from Surrey to Norfolk 11 years ago I transported a olive tree I had just purchased. Replanted it straight away and boy did it grow. Sadly moved and couldn 't take it with me. Enjoy it and the olives. Personally never rated Costco, although I do think they do the best pizza's lol. Stay safe🤗
What a treat to have a Luke vlog mid week. Enjoyed the look around Costco with you, what a great place to buy in bulk. LOVE the olive tree - knew u would get it 😂
Hi Luke. I loved that video as I’ve not been to Costco since before Covid and because it’s such a busy place I get put off I’m not good in busy places either so i understand how you feel. I loved you showing us round and so many good buys I love the olive tree it’s beautiful. Your garden is definitely coming on and looks great. Have a lovely day ❤️
A fun shop!!! And I think you HAD to have that olive tree, it looks great in the garden. Parking at Costco in my area is always a bit tricky too unless you are there when they open and even then it can be kind of interesting!
The side by side style of fridge is usually a freezer on one side and a fridge on the other. I find freezers great for meal planning. Make a larger batch and place a few meals in the freezer. Costco also has the larger bags of frozen produce - handy place to store them.
I worked at Costco for 6 years after my full time job retirement. Kirkland products are manufactured by well known manufacturers. It is busy especially Fridays. I recommend Wednesday at dinner time. I bought my washer and dryer pair and installation was fantastic.
I've got rhe Ninja BBQ and have to save love the convenience of electric just need an extension lead and off you go. You can add great flavours with the wood pellets too!
The olive tree would look nice across in the other side Of the yard (left side ) to give it balance right side is looking heavy with the big tree behind it
Love Love LOVE the Olive tree. It will be a fabulous feature in your garden. I was looking at the tree you put a border around and thought maybe some ferns under it might look good?. We only have 1 Costco in Sth Aus but I have never been. Think I might have to venture out one day!
There are obviously great savings buying in bulk, the herbal teas looked really good, but it's so easy to overspend and the have to justify it with how much you've saved in the long run ! The olive tree is lovely my son in law bought a similar sized one from B&M which was a good price but yours was better 😊
Luke love shopping with you. Can I ask - where did you get your "made in the 90's" t shirt, My son was made in the 90's and I'd love to get him one! Also I have to tell you as an Irish person, the Connaught Bar is pronounced "Connokt" bar. I know you have used the soft pronunciation of the word but you actually pronounce the word with a hard "ocht" at the end! Please don't hate me! By the way you do know that every time you go to a supermarket, garden centre, etc you're going to find some plant or pot or something you love. Welcome to the gardening community!
Luke most of that food/ drink you vlogged in Costco we sell In Waitrose in a smaller size , but yes it does work out cheaper to buy in bulk from Costco thou. You done well getting that Olive tree in your car. Your car is bigger than it looks . I enjoyed this vlog .
Wowza! Whoever is a book buyer for UK Costco has a good taste. I’ve never seen good “coffee table” books here in Costco (USA). That interior design book ❤
You were at my Costco!! I live 10’minutes from there 😂 Theres a whole shopping centre just round the corner, Lakeside, and many more retail shops, Dunelm, the Range, Homesense, B&M. We have everything, you could spend a whole day in Lakeside!
A Court of Thorne and Roses is definitely a must read! It wasn’t my genre either .. until I read the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas and now I’m hooked 🔥
Dear Luke, so happy that you treated yourself to the olive tree! You deserve it. A new large plant like that can be very uplifting. You could have spent your money on so many other silly things. The olive tree will give you and Zara pleasure for years. King regards. Peace to your home.
Hi Luke! Oh I could easily fall down the rabbit hole in Costco for sure! Usually go in with a list and end up buying lots of things that weren't on it. Lol 😅 I think that was an American sized fridge you showed. If only all UK homes could accommodate for that size fridge right? Love the olive tree and I'm quite impressed you got it to fit your car. So nice to see you mid week, such a treat. Absolutely loved the trip around Costco. Never been to one, so want to now. So want those Aussie bites. What a Fabulous olive tree. Enjoy all your purchases, especially the tree which looks awesome🐞
Yes I’ve gone over to Ferry watching your channel. I tried to it’s amazing. I’ve got the one with the scent and it smells lovely when I go to work and a housekeeper and sweat. You can just smell the freshness fairy brilliant. 😊👍
Hi luke omg if we had a cost co I would have to be dragged out of it I'd want everything 😂😂 love the olive tree & I am a fan of lupins I have a few & they come back every year ❤
Ninja Creami is the only appliance that I’m considering adding to our kitchen. We got rid of so many unused appliances when we renovated our house. My youngest child works at Costco, but I don’t shop there as I end up buying so many things we don’t need 😂
I had some lupins last year but unfortunately greenfly smothered them and they never recovered ..keep an eye on yours Luke ..the olive tree is fabulous 😊
Fabulous vlog Luke Thankyou for sharing the Costco haul we are thinking of joining great to know the prices too! The Maldon salt is a bargain I paid 4 quid the other day for a box! X
Hi Luke loving your series on ya house From a fellow Geordie Just abit of advice for ya weeds in the garden dnt no if it’s going to work but I’ve heard it really works. Wonderful vlog Luke , Costco was fab ,and that olive tree 🌳, im def getting one of them ,just bought 2 Bay trees ,so cannot wait ,your garden is looking wonderful ,and the tree fits perfectly ❤
Luke Love The Olive Tree. Whatch the Lupins Slugs Love Them!!! Great Good Yorkshire Tea. Had To Laugh You Getting it Through The Kitchen Door!!! 😂😂 Have a Lovely Week. Xx 😘😊
Our nearest Costco is 15 miles away, I know the last time I went to a store like that I nearly emptied my bank lol. You bought some amazing products. Love the Olive tree xx
Hi Luke The Connaught Bar book is interesting as in Ireland we have Ulster Leinster Munster and Connaught which are areas of parts of Ireland I live in the Connaught area of Connemara Co Galway. Love your channel and of course Maggie Gina xxx
I read the Court books a few years ago I really liked them. I love YA books as the writes seem to put more effort into the story, my daughter whoes in her 20s read them last year she thought they where great too.
Love this Luke! Great olive tree and oh those Aussie bites look so good! I know what you mean about very busy places, it can make you feel a bit vulnerable. We felt like this spectating at the Greater Manchester run a few weeks ago. Love to you, Zara and Maggie. x
Loved the video Luke. I love Costco. We have quite a few of them here in Canada. But it’s so tempting to buy everything in there. Everything is so good. I love the olive tree, it’s gorgeous. 😊🇨🇦
I am over here in America and gosh it is so busy during the week and the weekend that they actually need a policeman to direct traffic. The have great stuff and I get my medicine there they have the best prices.
I love an Olive tree Luke! It's great to have your company mid week 😊 x
That’s the thing with shopping you always find things you didn’t know you needed. You never know before till after! 👍🥰
Keep an eye on Sunday's video - we found a lovely one x
I can’t stop laughing about the olive tree.
Pleased you have stocked up for my arrival ❤
Luke you need a lovely big terracotta pot for that olive tree would look fabulous and make sure you have a large wide bed for those lupins
Looking forward to seeing them in place 😊
You should put a lawn edging between.the lawn and the flower bed. Otherwise the lawn with grow over the flowerbed, over the next few years.
It won’t if you maintain it. We’ve had no edges for years now
For sure - I think we will put some bricks along there for a nice rustic finish
Much nicer with no edging. Just keep the edges neat with your strimmer or edging shears.
@@LukeCatleugh I have rocks at the end of mine and the grass still grows over them . I think it would be easier to not have anything and just trim edges after mowing.
In the winter you will need to wrap up the olive tree to protect from the frost
What a lovely calm relaxed video for a Costco haul ❤
I misheard you say Zahara was not with you and when you drove off I thought she had been left behind!!!! I love that the Olive tree fit your car. I’m guilty of buying large things to put in a small car
What a treat a mid week video 🤗 Thank you for taking us along to Costco, I think its a good job I have never been, I would spend a fortune !!!
You should never go shopping if you're hungry!! Everything looks so good and you end up spending way more too!! ❤❤❤❤

I think those bake at home ciabattas are long-life so you don’t need to freeze them. They are vacuum packed and stay fresh in the cupboard for ages.
Yes I thought that too 👍
I live in oz and I’ve never seen these snacks, it’s the same with Aussie miracle hair care, never seen it here. Love the olive tree.
Garden looks so good Luke. Hope you get your plastering finished soon & then you can get on with your painting. Love the house in general.

I didn’t think about slugs 😮. I was blaming rabbits for the fact that my lupin seedlings have been nibbled away. Hmmmm
Those plants are amazing! I wonder if Costco in Canada has something similar. I love how excited you get about your garden. I am the same.
Your garden looks lush.
Love an olive tree.

Loved the video Luke. I love Costco. We have quite a few of them here in Canada. But it’s so tempting to buy everything in there. Everything is so good. I love the olive tree, it’s gorgeous. 😊🇨🇦
