MEET The LARGEST BEETLE In The US!

- Опубліковано 8 лют 2024
- WOW! Have you ever seen beetles so large before? The western hercules beetle is the largest native beetle to the US and they bear the title proudly. These gigantic beetles can be found in the Southwestern US where they spend the majority of their lives in larval form eating decaying wood before emerging during the wetter months of the year as adults to mate. Beetles have always been some of my favorite groups of animals and I've always been partial to the big ones; do you like beetles? Let me know in the comments below!

These have to be some of the coolest beetles in the country, it’s amazing that we get insects that large, in the southwest of all places. Yet another reason why the sky islands are probably the habitat in the US that I want to explore most. Really good information in this video, you delivered a lot of value here and I understand why you wanted to split this from the light trap video, it works well for me. Killin it man!
Next time yall come with 😉
Mister Lord Majesty Jack, sir? I got behind in your videos. Which means I have a good amount to binge. I missed you. 😭
Welcome back!
I have one of these guys! He’s late into his third instar right now and he weighs about 22 grams. Can’t wait til he grows into his horn :)
I found a hecules beetle back in the mid 90's in south eastern ohio. I have not seen or heard of anyone near me finding one since then. I assumed it was someones pet that eacaped but looking at a range map, it appears that they can be found here. Thanks for the nostalgia Jack!
Definitely my favorite beetle , they’re really cool! I haven’t been able to find a male and female at the same time but when I do I want to raise them. They make great pets!
Happy to make the acquaintance of this gorgeous insect. I'm glad you make these beautifully photographed videos to help people understand that wild creatures are seldom aggressive, and carry out important, even essential, tasks in preserving the ecosystem. Thanks.
Our pleasure!
Coming back from searching for armored harvestmen (which you should totally film at some point, the Libitioides sayi we get here in nc are super bizarre and awesome) to see you’ve uploaded a new video is my new favorite feeling!! Always love your content Jack :)
That's a good idea!
I love LOVE the little hairs above the eyes and on the inside of the top horn
They’re pretty cool beetles! Thanks Jack 😊
Hercules Beetle, aka Heracross. Identical in massive strength and gentle demeanor
I'm gonna see it with my father. I'm really excited to see it.
Spiders are my favorite but beetles are a close second for me . Ty for another awesome video.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Jack for sharing this information with us.
My pleasure!
So beautiful! What an amazing creature!! Thanks for this 1 guys 😊🤙
Thanks for watching!
Watching now, thanks Jack
Enjoy
OMG HE'S HUGE! Our FL staghorns are tiny in comparison!
I love their little wigs. And of course they've got really pretty colouration. Almost looks like copper that's gotten a nice patina on it.
Jack: They're important! They're magnificent! They're huge! Etc!
Me: **puppy eyes** They're so cute. Yeah, I'm an odd sort of girly girl 🤪
Random comment. Did you know that aphids clone themselves. The same with tedious stigmaris.
Will you be having more arachnid and gecko vids i love those you are awesome jack
Sure will! Keep watching!
Bro has whole t shirt on and it spring ☠️
Gentle giants
Hey brother from another! Great video you've got yourself here! USA has some truly awesome wildlife! I've been thinking recently how great it would be if you could do a video of maybe some dangerous or interesting flies you have over that there pond? Their seems to be little information or interest around the true flies, the annoying and repulsive yet fascinating flies such as the guys with the big old cockpit eyes and sucker mouths and are everywhere. What are some of the largest/heaviest non-carnivorous flies you've seen. Just been interested lately when I realised that the Fly is kind of overlooked and taken for granted. Respect from England!
Maybe I’ll have to film some more of the flies we have around!
Great video Jack! What are those little orange lines below their horns?
Those are hairs that help them grip males and sense their surroundings
have you ever found a dynastes hercules? or do you only find dynastes grantii?
I have a video on larger Central American Hercules beetles from my first trip to Costa Rica
I love how 🇺🇸 gives things big and powerful names but nothing to worry about! 😂
How the hell can this video have 1700 views when this channel has over 100.000 sups?!?!
UA-cam be keeping me down 🥲
@@JacksWorldofWildlife damm.. tough times to be a youtuber :( i hope you will keep going strong.
lol have you ever thought of becoming an actor? hahaha
😂 I was an actor before Jack’s World of Wildlife
I’m sure if all the males lined up. The female could walk passed them all and decide who was the sexiest male instead of them fighting 😂
I can't believe you put that thing on your face
I can, lol.
Are you still in az I would like to meet up
Nah this was filmed last year
Jack your an amazing creator! UA-cam come on push this man!!! He has amazing passion and content that is not seen in so many other channels... dont lose this creator to cursed tik tok... (nothing wrong with tic tok) just it lacks good long videos and from what it gives me just mindless rot... lol I uninstalled it.... so come on UA-cam stop dropping the ball!!!
For real!
Where specifically in Arizona should I go to find these beetles?
My best luck came from the mountains in the south
The males horn is very impressive. Why do they have another on their face.
So they can pinch upwards and throw other males around
"Definitely worse than the tarantula hawk!" 😂😂😂😂
ahhhhh ahahaha, wears a Montana Joe hat as well 🤠
caught a minor male the other day. best day of my bugging life.
That thing is practically a small dog.
What determines if a male becomes a major or a minor? I think I’m a minor male. 😑
Nutrition and genetics are the biggest factors that determine size!
Jack your the man !!!!! #coyotesux
