The death animations shocked me with how realistic they were when I did my first play through. I was so shocked when I shot a guy with a shotgun and he actually got pushed back over a table and slowly died on the ground.
Even the original game was super cool with that, sometimes enemies wouldn't immediately die, and would inch away from you while holding their wound and crying
@@isaacster5027 this is why I love Mafia. Unlike many films and games, Mafia shows death so realistically. That even cliche "hollywood badass cool mafia guy" is terrified of death and cry in pain. Funny that many of these details were in the original 2002. While something new was added, like light from shattered glasses , various animations, combat etc (which is nowadays is a given), overall new fresh look (which I like btw) however they didn't include following: in 2002 you could totally rip the wheel of a car, if you shoot right in the middle of the wheel., if you shot near gas tank, the gas would quickly leak and the car won't start, turning signals worked for you as well when you turned the steering wheel. At the gas station there was a refueler, who filled up the gasoline. The cars felt much heavier and clunky, as they are supposed to be. You could sit anywhere you wanted in the car. And you had an option to start the car, or just seat. or turn off the motor, without getting off. Head to head car crashes at high speed were lethal for both participants, unlike in the remake. When cabriolet rolled over - instant death. Guns felt heavier and deadlier as well with recoil, depending on the weapon, remember shooting Magnum (i prefer the old one) in the remake spamming shoot button turns a pistol into a SMG lol. You could actually aim with pistol from a car window. Unlike some auto aim circle in the remake. Stealing cars. It was something special. Whenever Ralph or Lucas showed you a new model, Lucas would also hype them, those were exciting side adventures after hard missions. Now the cars are just there. And you can take any, you don't even get to know which is a new model, like those car guys would tell you. Also.. "I-I-I've never seen this like before, and I don't think I can get in","I doubt I know how to get into this one" Police. If you broke the law and police saw you in one particular car, when you got out of their sight, you could quickly get out of the car, steal a new one, or just keep walking on foot. And they wouldn't identify you afterwards. And after some cool down, you're good to go. Also you could be fined only 2 times. (if I'm not mistaking) the 3rd time they would arrest you. Npc would fight back, or even shoot back, if they had guns. In the remake they're all bunch of pussies. You can abuse them all you want. In 2002 You could use trams and trains. You could shoot the locks to open fences. No such things in remake. Also, funny that 2002 game had various endings for different missions, depending on what you do.(ordinary routine, cream de la cream) In the remake the missions are totally scripted. This is just what I remembered watching the video. All in all, I do enjoy the remake, but these above mentioned small details what makes the game so special.

They spend so much time reworking the layout, added Tram and bus stop signs, new lines all together just to not let us use it. Also, boats are drivable there is a way to get into one and drive it. Many of these were part of the original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven which came out in 2002. Kinda weird rework from my POV considering they added many things that don't make sense especially the way police reacts to your actions. In the video I saw multiple examples of police coming after the player right after he commits crime but no policeman was around to report it. In the original you would only be chased when there was actually some officer of the law to witness the situation. And why for christ's sake would Tommy always hear police's radio communication. One of the most beatiful game I've ever played. It definetly worthed it's money. I will never regret buying the trilogy.
Try Witcher 3, RDR2, Uncharted series these games are better and the graphics and gameplay is beautiful
@@janhiken4915 I played the Nathan drake series and I played witcher 3 because I really got into cd studio because of cyberpunk, and I have red dead online so I know what all of these look like.
I said mafia is one of the more beautiful games I played considering I played low end graphic games like Yakuza, and the original GTA series
I'm a veteran in gaming so I was used to playing either on my ps3 or my low end PC low end graphic games I pirated on websites and such
I don't take back my opinion on mafia, it's still a great ass game
@@Cat-ib8wb
Mafia is definitely a amazing game
@@Cat-ib8wb mafia is great game.. But if you play RDR2 in good PC in with max graphics you will forget everytbing..
There is no game that can match the level of RDR2 in terms of detail and everything.
basically the most polished Mafia 3 we never got.
And still without anything to do besides the story. When will Hangar 13 stop wasting these amazing potentials.
I ate your keys And your wallet It’ a linear game, they aren’t waiting anything. Too many games have a stupid amount of side content and a meh story. This is the good, old school way to make a video game. Plus the original was designed linearly so this game is exactly like it should’ve been.
Yeah but they couldve atleast added some enemies to shoot at and some stores / café's to interact with post story and i wouldve been happy. They might have remade it. But at the cost of immersion. Same stuff that bothered me about mafia 3. Also made by Hangar 13. The only reason im not playing it is because of replayability
@@iateyourkeysandyourwallet1380 There is enemies to shoot at in the free ride. You just have to find Herbert Baskerville's missions in Salieri's bar. Read the notes and search for the missions accross the map.
I ate your keys And your wallet yeah there needs to be a online mode for sure
3:06 “I heard you paint houses”
17:05 look at the exhaust pipes , they are actually vibrating when in engine is running
No shit man, maybe that's because it's mafia 3 engine and most of these AMAZING DETAILS were already there, but nobody gives two fucks about them cause people are used to think that mafia 3 is pile of crap.
@@004MostWanted It was
Elder Scroll mafia 3 is a pile of crap tho
ahuh whatever, i'm here to point out that most of these details are not this remake's features as everybody must be thinking now after this video, and i'm not here to argue with dumb people. go play your miserable mafia 2 with preschool scenario and nothing to do in it besides.
Elder Scroll miserable mafia 2 ? Mafia 2 is better than mafia 3 😂
The best Remaster ever in the history of games
Remake
5:51 - YES, it is there! Nice job Hangar!
15:16 that lighting though, hot damn, the vibes are pretty good looking at it.
The best remake ever
Agreed
Depends. There's the Resident Evil 1 and 2 REmakes, Command & Conquer Remastered, MediEvil 2019, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, Homeworld Remastered, Shadow of the Colossus PS4, The Henry Stickmin Collection, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2...
@@michaelandreipalon359 yeahh there's still more better remakes than this but this remake is still one of the good ones up there.

In the original, the NPC just pulled out umbrella when it started to rain

Good taste then, youngin'
19:10 my favorite part, i like how you drive calm at first and then step on the gas and boy that v8 sound!
In this game the ending was seriously heartbreaking 💔
"Mr. Angelo?"
Yes...
"Mr Saliari sends his regards"
Me after playing mafia 2: awh sh*t here we go again
And there's nothing we can do about it, even in the sequel.
This one he just accepts his fate. I actually like that more than the original’s and 2’s version. He knew if someone knew him by the name Tommy Angelo then he’s probably dead.
One thing i dont understand about this specific mission is that this mission is in both games , and its kinda pointless. No different characters, no different place.
@Crazy Cletus ok mr insanity we understand
10:34
Lady: “just stay calm”
Also lady: “everybody run”
_Timmy: Hey Grandpa, how was living in the United States back in the 30’s?_

hahaha lol except gangstas more tough earlier
Only it’s not in a school

BADBHOYS Done
This is amazing I hope no one steal this video from u
02:30 - Remember, no Heaven!
I love how blood takes some time to appear on ground and walls with a gradient effect
The flip off before death is my favorite detail.
Hanger 13 did a really great job with this one.Considering their previous game, they have really reflected their talent by this game.
I liked mafia 3 but the missions aaah they're boring and repetitive.
6:12 Knightz be like: thats a nice detail
Me looking at that street: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!
Look at the amount of taxis
"GANGSTER"
Scrolling through the comments to see who else did this 😂
Another one is that some cars will struggle to start, stalling if you dont immediately rev
6:37 I'm a simple, man. I'm told to comment "Gangster", I will comment Gangster like a good citizen.
😁 thanks for watching dude!
That's what we need. Realiatic, detailed, finished games. Not EA crap with tons of dlcs
What about your beloved Rockstar games 😂
I just love the cops doesn't instantly wanna murder on one star
They readded the bloody footprints since they were missing in Mafia 3
I’ve never seen so much effort put into death animations plus the flipping you off thing nice touch
Those details (especially the shattered headlights) blew my mind! Also, the NPC facial expressions are really good! See when they get hurt for example
tommy is impersonating them too
I love that so many of these details were present in The Getaway games. Man I would love another one of those, so ahead of their time
And haters out there are:
"BuT GaMe DoSeNt HaVe DeTaiLs!"
Literelly seen guy who doesn't own game speaking there is no blood footprints in game, because he have seen some video lol. I had to test it right after. But nope, he conviced people there are no footprints lol
Actually half of these were in the original game. The other half... most of them are in other games since the 90s. Like really, bloody footprints? you can see that in GTA Vice City. And car reflections in Gran Turismo 2 or even earlier.
@@Davidman3976 you don't get it. People said game misses those from pure hate for no reason, just lie to make game look bad

Attention to detail in this amazing game is a joy to experience. Brilliant!

Got a Good sigh. You'd be doing me a favor
That's mood af bro,who hurt that poor npc.
19:12 I've also noticed that when you honk at the police car they say something like "I can bring you in, you know that"
I dont think I've ever seen a game have headlight details like that and that race track mission, u never would have noticed someone jump bc the mission requires u to be so fast.
Thanks, these were really interesting details I've almost missed=)

"Think about your family......if you have one"
Are you going do the detail of Mafia 3? And I see the word "Gangster":)
Thanks for watching, I might go back and take a look at Mafia 3 in the future but as I understand it it's not as impressive as the rest of the Mafia games so can't guarantee a video.
@@oKnightzo maybe you'll be surprised but a good half of "details" in this remake is coming from mafia 3
@MAX it still has more details than people sayin that kind of shit got brains, so..
Man, the hit animations are incredible! I didn't see half of them because I was playing on "Classic" difficulty and spend 80% of the time in cover and as good as dead with a b/w screen. Gotta replay this on easier difficulty!
Good vid though ;)
Agreed. There is alot in the remake that i miss from the original game. It was also alot more cars in the original game
