Kept you waiting, huh? Been working on some bigger videos that won't release until a few months from now (hence the lack of uploads 😅) But I've briefly put them on hold to bring you guys a good old detail video on a much loved game that I haven't covered before. Hope you enjoy!
One detail I saw in the video is that, after Naomi tells Otacoon that he looks better without glasses, when you call him by code in the next mission, he will no longer wear them.
I don't get how the fact it is being emulated changes the fact it still looks good. Best the emulator can do is upscale the resolution, on a 720p monitor and a PS3 it would still look this good
@arrmigliato I just played it on a ps3 last week and the cutscenes look better than most ps4 games it runs at 30fps the game could really use a remaster.
You forgot about the result from Mantis' attempt on vibrating your controlling. If you have vibration enabled he'll be ecstatic that he's "still got it", but if you have vibration off he'll be afraid since he can't do it
I got this on my first play through cos my PS5 controller has no vibration when used on a PS3. Was very surprised to learn there's other variations of the cutscene.
can't believe it's already sixteen years ago. I remember the day I bought it from the gamestop, it was my first AAA PS3 game so I literally stared for all the time at Snake chainsmoking during the starting installation because the animations were so impressive, God I remember how long it was, the waiting for playing it was excruciating, and then I literally stared for other 15 minutes at the starting screen, vibing to the title theme
Christ, it's been so long. I too remember when I bought my xbox 360 in 2007, when I bought CoD WaW in 2008 and other great games from this time period. It was just such a fun time, we had great stuff coming out almost every month, music and movies were also nice. 2007-2012 was the golden age of our generation...I was 12 years old and happy.

The moment I realised this game was ahead of it's time is when I showed my nephew that snake walks up the stairs and step a time. This was back in 2008! That for me was so incredible to see. So realistic.
I love the 3 gekkos dresses in a raincoat and hat like if it was a cartoon. Really hoping this game arrives to modern systems with Volume 2 of the Master Collection.
It's the one entry in the collection I'm worried about because of how difficult PS3 emulation is and Konami tends to be lazy AF. I wouldn't doubt it's released as a streaming only game as part of the collection.
Also if you use a Dulashock without vibration during the fight with Screaming Mantis the dialogue is different: Psycho Mantis will say "No vibration either?" And a female will respond: " No massage for you then".
MGS4 is personally my favorite game out of all the other MGS games due to the variety of options you have in the game. In terms of story line tho I enjoy it the most and the fact you revisit some old places from the old games. Glad to see people going back to this game and giving it the credit it deserves. Great video!
The engine in this game is the best, I believe. I loved that you can lean over walkways while prone to aim. As well as go lay down and aim on your back with or without a hostage. I think this was the first game that I ever saw that in.
Metal gear solid 2 story and the description of AI and war etc. he implementations of drones and tech plus much more was a good story, overall the metal gear stories are great with metal gear 5 being the exception unfortunately.
Even kojima want to made all beauty ver that appears on the boss fight to be naked not wearing skinsuit like on the game But the other konami staff wont allowed it

Staring at Meryl and restoring psyche just makes me sad. So David still likes her after all but forgoes her do to him being so fucked up. His ending is one of the saddest things I've ever experienced.
Kojima seemed to really resent being basically forced to make Metal Gear himself after expressing interest in letting his team take over. it'd make sense that resentment would spill over to the fans as well, giving us this sad storyline to contend with.

It was also the reason why they would hate him. He spent $50 million dollars on this. They spent something like $20m of that on the engine alone. Konami would never be able to use this engine ever again.

I knew a “fun fact” that if you kill a lot of enemies in a short time makes snake vomit. I discovered that in act 2 before enter the villa area for looting grenade launcher attachment
What struck me was for 2008 the gun operating animations, reloads etc are so realistic, every shell casing ejection and the slide operating on the handguns truly a game of beauty and such attention to detail, the soundtrack is a thing of beauty to, such an amazin game aesthetically, I hope if they ever remake it they do it justice and keeo all those insane details in love MGS since MGS1 for me 4 is the best with 3 a close second.
The game that made me buy a PS3 back in 2008 when the console was almost dead. MGS 4 saved the PS3. I bought the console edition with the game and retro compatibilty with PS2. After MGS 4 we had a lot of amazing games on PS3. Happy i made the right choice at that time, even if as a MGS fan i bought the console just to play it since it was an exclusive (and keep being to this day).
Isn't she wearing armor though? That vest might be a ceramic plate vest over something like Kevlar, because Kevlar is usually chosen to be worn under something and lighter. In war, you're pretty much going to maybe wear something more heavy duty. I'm no expert in this field, just my hypothesis.

This game is for PS3!! One of the hardest console to develop game for. Here Kojima just make that Cell processor like nothing. It's impressive. I wonder how Konami gonna put all of this stuff to Master Collection 2. Even Bluepoint said "It's not easy to port ps3 games to ps4" when they ported Journey/Flower/Flow.
They had already developed a 360 port which didn’t make the cut as the game was extremely large to fit into DVD. So they could work with that as a template
Immensely nostalgic for the entire series especially mgs4 ❤ I’m amazed that how a game from 2008 has a far better story, gameplay mechanics and other stuff than most modern games. replayed it all the time in summer vacations but sadly the online multiplayer which was my first ever PvP console experience was terminated back in 2012 😢
I feel like the open world concept doomed MGSV for failure. Instead of 2 giant, empty open worlds, it should’ve been like a mix of Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes - keeping the episodic, closed levels formula but allowing you to approach the base you’re infiltrating from any angle. Then the development time spent on an open world could’ve gone to finishing the story instead
Kind of hard to do when the areas are so massive, and it probably would've done if they just let Kojima continue working instead of seperating him from the team and push it out early.

This game honestly doesn’t look too different than games today. I feel like we’ve plateaued in game development. I used to be a huge gamer (until 2011 or 2012) and have largely stopped. I realized the other day that when i do play games it’s usually on games at l are a decade+ old….. modern ones don’t have the appeal to me much anymore.
I loved playing this game at the time and looking today I can understand how newer games are just shooters, you don't need a brain, just reflexes. I hope this will change back to these masterpieces.....

It’s crazy to say this game is almost 17 years old…times gone by. I remember begging my dad to let me stay up an extra every night to play this game,now I have a son and he does the same to me. This will forever be my favorite game of all time
Both Metal Gear games that came out on the PS3 were the best of their time graphically. MGS4 still holds up and I’m absolutely astonished they got MGSV running on PS3.
If I recall correctly. Pressing X on every intro scene of any character, shows their previous games in quick succession. Or could've been a different button. Just remember that it's there. (And very flashy, so warning for those)
@@bacohpfanwhick2572 Yeah the Fox engine didn't do much for ragdoll in MGSV. MGS4 had them down really well, it made for some pretty funny moments when caught in an explosion.
16 years old and still 1000 times better as todays AAA or even...excuse me the laughter you cant hear...AAAA games. Time to get the dust off my ps3 and start this masterpiece again!
Also side note which isn't really too much of a hidden detail is if you use a cigarette it'll help take your stress down (Not advocating smoking just observing the game mechanic) Edit: If you hold someone up but you keep your gun aimed at them while their backs are turned they'll stay frozen BUT you must move away silently or they'll know you left make sure to keep their backs turned to you as you leave so they don't see you do it :)

It's an actual plot point that Hal misses something because he stopped wearing his glasses after Naomi tells him that.

100% the freedom of movement and the variety of CQC was wayyy ahead of its time.

@@bacohpfanwhick2572 Yeah the Fox engine didn't do much for ragdoll in MGSV. MGS4 had them down really well, it made for some pretty funny moments when caught in an explosion.

Also side note which isn't really too much of a hidden detail is if you use a cigarette it'll help take your stress down (Not advocating smoking just observing the game mechanic)
Edit: If you hold someone up but you keep your gun aimed at them while their backs are turned they'll stay frozen BUT you must move away silently or they'll know you left make sure to keep their backs turned to you as you leave so they don't see you do it :)
