- SCP-914 is a Safe class anomaly also known as The Clockworks.
SCP 914 is a large clockwork device weighing several tons consisting of screw drives, belts, pulleys, gears, springs and other clockwork. It is incredibly complex, consisting of over eight million moving parts. When an object is placed in the Intake Booth, a door slides shut, and a small bell sounds. If the knob is turned to any position and the key wound up, SCP914 will “refine” the object in the booth.

@Jinhong PARK Well it all depend on the machine
I wonder what would happen if you put some "good" human scps into the fine or very fine setting. The scp foundation may be able to make some powerful allies like that.

@@jamiethedinosaur869 We all know that it was Dr. Bright's idea.
05 Council just doesn't want to admit it.
Hyperinflation Time!
No, I do not think I will
They decided to put a Death Row inmate in there on the “Very Fine” setting, which drastically improves the functions and intended purposes of creatures and items. They should’ve put a saint in there instead.
They could’ve become godlike but not omnipotent
If you put in a Saint you'll get Jesus.
Possibly the origin of SCP 343 “God”
maybe they thought that it could make a "bad" person into a "good" person.
@@nicomoron001 They probably weren't exactly sure what it would do and wanted to test it on someone they didn't mind losing or needing to destroy. They underestimated how dangerous the result would be and should have prepared better safety measures. Even then, it would always be dangerous. The fact of the matter is that this could have turned out to allow assets of good temperament and informed consent be radically improved and/or be cured of any ailment, should it prove reasonably safe. It seems that the risks outweigh the potential benefits, given the inconsistent results of the device. They needed to know, however.
Just imagine: A dangerous security breach happens, and you put yourelf through on Very Fine in an attempt to survive.
And instead of coming out a buff monster it instead makes you look like a model to rival Helen of Troy. "Well, THAT wasn't very helpful!" ^Says before getting ripped to pieces^
In roblox scp site 76 i put hammer in intake the setting is very fine and the results is me being speedy. Suddenly i died lol
I would become a big big big rocket that travels faster then the speed of light but increases it speed at a exponential rate and it can kill you in one shot
Could have used the ray gun from emailer to blast the mosnster to dead
So, exactly what I did in SCP Containment Breach?
The most hilarious part about this is the fact that they threw a chimp into the machine and it came out with human levels of intelligence also the fact that his name is doctor bobo
HE CAME OUT WITH HUMAN LEVELS OF INTELLIGENCE AND CHOSE THE ALIAS OF DR BOBO
The fact he exists in the scp universe make me happy
But could they bring back the second chimp by setting it to very 1.1?
Bobo in spanish means stupid
Researchers must’ve been like: “Oh, I know! *Lets throw a monkey inside of a strange late 1800’s contraption and see what happens.* “
I must say I am proud of the machine, it replaced a white mouse with a brown mouse on a 1:1 setting, meaning that it is not racist.

Whaaat
Yeah, right and the build up for it was so perfectly done too
A perfectly done thing as well in my opinion is the bet between the researchers when one researcher with crazy ideas will die

I remember when it went from spooky 4chan memes to a website and there was basically factional jnfighting over how to make it consistent and canon-worthy...

@@bonboneka9577 has a science text book bin put in so they have a better own with some know knowledge in it?
@@coolonekid1 We’ve tested with lots of textbooks! The thing is, the goal of 914’s refinements is not to improve objects; the outcomes are very unpredictable and usually you’ll just end up with something useless or even dangerous. So you might put in a textbook and _expect_ to receive a better textbook that contains useful information, but instead you might end up with one that is written in total gibberish, or contains completely false information, or seems like it belongs to a completely different universe, or even contain a cognitohazard that just overloads your brain and kills you. It’s a rookie mistake to think that 914 would ever give you what you want >:P
I want to say a few things, because they only really scratched the surface of 914. These are taken from 914’s test logs.
-914, while supposedly not alive, does appear to have a personality, preferences, fears, and standards. It’s personality is that of a prankster’s, generally messing with the staff.
-A scientist played chess with 914, with the input being the scientist’s move and the output being 914’s. When the scientist put it in checkmate, the board had been flipped over with the pieces scattered in the output booth.
-Testing with organic material is strictly prohibited because 914 actually can create life.
-When given the testing logs for SCP-1459, the puppy killing machine, 914 produced a detailed explanation on how to disassemble the machine while causing as much pain for the machine as possible. A second test resulted in a suggestion to feed the machine to 682.
-While 914 loves messing with Researchers Darby and Calloway and inflicting severe injuries on them, it’s been shown that SCP-914 is capable of remorse, having spontaneously resurrected Dr. Nukea after the latter ran a few too many copies of 17 Again through it and 914 killed gun.
-Speaking of, 914 can recognize who’s running tests with it and acts differently depending on the individual. It shows high regard and affection for MT Johnson, never misses a chance at harming Researcher Darby, and, while fond of Professor Wren, is’t above screwing with her.
-It once produced a type of amnestic that erases the memories about one specific individual. That individual? Researcher Darby. 200 1-hour doses. Dr. Veritas ran out after ~48 hours.
-Similar to the dog killing machine above, when a scientist tried destroying their laptop by running it through 914 on “Rough,” the laptop was nearly disassembled. Said scientist used the laptop for highly illicit activities.

@@jsc1jake512 Nah, he might be as well as taking over his body
4:43 "Incredibly Dr. Gears was able to deduce the blindingly obvious." is what should've been said here.
He didn't deduced that there's an intake and an output, but rather, that the SCP transforms things depending on the option of choose.
Thanks to the designation of them 5.
Does it require a galaxy brain to deduce that? No, but it does require a level of analysis.
@@Dexuz It doesn't even require some level of analysis. If you have EYES, you should be able to figure out that this machine looks like some sort of refinery, which it is.
As someone who has loved this scp ever since I learned about the scp foundation I think after all these years of thinking about it, reading all the addendums about it many times I think I know how it’s anomalous effects work. You see there was one specific test that caught my eye, there was a test where the researchers had been given an item, a simple grandfather clock I believe. And set the setting to a random setting still blindfolded, and let it go. The clockwork device took several minutes, pausing every time, this is why they believed that Scp-914 doesn’t improve items, rather it reinterprets them, and it uses the imaginations of people who know what the item is and what it could become, which is why putting an item like a piece of raw copper on a 1:1 setting will make a piece of something like bronze of equal weight. However it also may be somewhat sentient, as it also takes the thoughts of the researchers to work, but it also has something of a sense of humor, placing a pound of bacon and a picture of 682 on the fine setting resulted in a living sculpture of Scp-682 that made a sizzling sound as it walked, funny to say the least, but the site director didn’t think so.
It has to be sentient, it trolled Dr.Hertz once, read the comment about it here.
Some of these videos have a supercomputer with very advanced artificial intelligence owned by the SCP foundation. I think its called something 6000. I forgot the exact name but its used to test "what if" scenarios about what would happen if 2 characters had to fight each other. One of the fights was the super hero Deadpool vs the Hard to Kill Reptile. Its a magnificent plot device to show all kinds of scenarios without creating any continuity confusions and characters can die in those videos without dying in official continuity, and it can justify pretty much any matchup without needing a crazy plot device to make it happen.
I want to see that computer use its analysis to figure out what would happen with various people or animals or objects in the clockwork machine.

Makes me wonder if SCP-096 was originally a person who went through SCP-914. Could have been a deformed person who was regularly attacked or ridiculed by people who saw his face and lived on the outskirts of society. He became particularly skilled at surviving severe wounds and afraid of people looking at him before being put into the machine, which enhanced both properties. His anomalous survivability would keep him from suffering the same ashy fate as the D class
Ok, but imagine, with all of this info we know, SCP-682, the Hard-To-Kill Reptile, was originally a crocodile or a reptile with similar size and body shape that was put into 914 on the "Very Fine" option, maybe even around the time of the machine's creation.

914 is one of my favorite scps, as the kind that I think are the most interesting displays of creativity. An enormous machine that has incredible potential for changing things, the potential being wildly untapped even after all the experiments. how does it work, where is it pulling this stuff from, how is it doing changes especially with anomalous results. there's a pretty good story that's ostensibly the story of how this machine came to be. One of my favorite details that wasn't included here is that they found at some point what looked like a tiny booklet or something. It's instructions for how the machine operates, but the text is in an unknown language, and it's microscopically or a similar scale of smallness, and hundreds of pages. you could theorietically figure out how it works, but it would take centuries, most people might not learn any significant details in their lifetime. It's the perfect example of "you can't know why or how, there is no explanation, because there couldn't be one that would ever be as satisfying as the mystery behind how it works.

- SCP-914 takes up a floor space of 18 square *meters,* not feet.
- Dr. Gears worked on 914 research *prior* to Dr. Veritas and Dr. Hackett being assigned to take his place. As in, he had done the preliminary testing and wrote the SCP article for it, and was already gone by the time Veritas and Hackett got there. Out-of-universe, this just means that the writer responsible for Dr. Gears had written the SCP article and a few tests, while the writer responsible for Dr. Veritas was later assigned to look after the extended test logs, which was shown in-universe by Dr. Veritas being assigned to take Dr. Gears’ place.

Lol yeah
the most shocking thing that comes from this episode is not the fact that they omitted the more interesting experiments, nor missing the fact that the machine is seemingly sentient and sapient (it plays chess), its the fact that Doctor Gears first name is Charles.
The machine also asked for instructions when given a crossword puzzle, then when it was placed in it again it crumpled and threw the crossword out because it didn’t know how to solve it
That SCP even CREATED A NEW SCP
Keyword being seemingly.
How to end the world:
Step one: make scp 682 small enough to fit its vat in the input booth
Step 2: Select "very fine"
Step three: activate scp 914.
Or consider put it on 1:1 and hope for scp-999
I'm disappointed that none of the human subjects survived to be interviewed. I would like to know about their mental state after the transformation. Especially the 1-1 D-class. Did he freak out simply from the body horror of the situation or was his brain wired differently altering his thought processes. Your DNA only contains rules for how your brain can set itself up in response to the environment and chemical triggers. How your brain actually forms depends on your childhood environment, nutrition, mental stimulation, and education. There is a LOT of room for things to be rearranged and still be considered "normal".
Tbh, I almost got the impression maybe he was aggressive because he didn't seem to know where he was and who the people were and was thinking like "Who the fuck are you people!" and the SCP foundation was like "You're our test subject where we literally subject you to deadly monsters for experiments." and he was like "Alright. I am gonna throw hands and try and escape this BS."
Imagine Dr. Bright with this. "Can i put my amulet into it?" "If i put a sword in, do i make a lightsaber?"
He put the ingredients matching the diamond pickaxe from minecraft recipe in that very same order and put that bad boy on 1:1. And yes, it was confiscated. And yes, this is actual lore.
If dr bright put his amulet it would become an actual cognitiohazard

First time I've noticed this, they use blackbery curves, that's the most modern version of a burner you could have, they're still untrackable but have a bit more function than a normal burner
Oh I love SCP 914! There's a giant list of the tests on the website, some with tragic results and a number of funny ones. As I recall, they did try to put unassembled IKEA furniture and manuals in there...it didn't go well needless to say. 🤣

Well now the only logical thing left to do is putting SCP-682 through SCP-914 on the rough setting

Rough - destroy the object
Course - downgrade the item
1:1 - trade a item of equal value
Fine - upgrade the item
Very fine - randomize the upgrade of the item
Very Fine: *SIGNIFICANTLY* upgrade the item.
I think this has amazing potential to help the foundation greatly improve their Arsenal if it’s able to do that to a basic fire arm imagine if you put other weapons in it like an explosive or an explosives launcher of some kind
What if scp 5000 was just a regular suit of England knight armor that was put into the machine and became the super advanced scp 5000 we all have mixed feelings about

@@ahitfan1captaina i would personally be hesistant since scp 682 can often adapt to new forms of damge i thought that simply asking some of the more knowledgeable scps on how to end it or effectively contain it would be the smartest action to take.

Coarse: Okay, I will gently dismantle everything and not break anything.
