- SCP-978 is a Safe Class anomaly also known as the Desire Camera.
SCP-978 appears to be a standard red-and-black Polaroid Supercolor 645 CL instant camera, with no distinctive identifying marks or damage. SCP 978 operates the same as a standard camera, and shows no anomalous behavior beyond the photographs it produces. When a subject is pictured with SCP978 the photograph that develops shows not what the subject was doing at the time of the photo, but rather what the subject wanted to be doing.

1) It's explained that the results are not consistent, it doesn't *have* to show one's greatest/innermost desires, they can be passing whims. Like, say, lamenting that you couldn't find the tie you wanted to wear to work that day.
2) Even outside of that, there are plenty of things that can change without being represented physically. Such as being rid of physical/mental afflictions like Tourrettes, a burdensome memory, depression, etc. Just because drastic change isn't visible *physically* doesn't mean that one is not desired.

Coarse should be a disassembled camera and 1:1 should be a regular Polaroid in my opinion. I like the rest of it, but another cool option for very fine would be if it shows the photographer's desire in relation to the person photographed.

This camera could in theory be used to gain further insight into so many mind affecting SCPs and used on other SCPs like the entry shows, it's a great research tool.

This is… oddly wholesome. I really like it! A lot of the Subjects show that they just want to be treated normally! And even a lot of the researchers had interesting outcomes. I especially like Dr. Bright’s. Sure, it may not seem nice, but you have to realize; he just wants to rest. But no matter what, we love you, Doctor Bright. Keep making us smile.
And yes, I am 100% pro-Bright.

It's a relatively harmless SCP tested in a controlled environment. I'd imagine that there's only so much you can do with it to make it scary

I wonder why SCP 978 isn't used as part of the containment process of sentient SCP's.
If the photo comes back showing the other SCP eating a person you know for sure you have a problem on hand, but if the photo shows the SCP doing something mundane you have supporting evidence of the SCP being most likely peaceful and would have lost nothing from the experiment.

So many of these made me a little sad. I love how most show the desire to be useful, with loved ones, or at peace. No matter who or what we are, we share a lot at our core. I think my picture would show me hugging my late mom and grandparents surrounded by my current pets and ones that have passed on.

This was the first SCP UA-cam video I had ever watched.
The only thing in this video I remember so vividly was the researchers taking a picture of Doctor Clef and getting a censored version of his face with a middle finger plastered over it.

In the SCP Illustrated 096 and 049 video when the doctor touches the shy guy, he kind of goes in this weird mindspace thing and the Shy Guy's just little kid sitting at the base of a tree , and it made me think of that by the way it was described here, being that so far that's the only interaction with a small child that I know of with 049
Gotta be honest, when I first wrote the log for SCP-049 I wasn't thinking of the child being 096 but after all there's no canon in SCP :)
