@@jakobmatauschek7722 Time Away From Base. IOW, Time on the road. The hours that your car is in the crew lot. A high TAFB number means your wife and kids have no idea who you are. Your hobbies are on hold. You miss birthdays, anniversaries, weekend BBQs with your friends, etc. You seldom sleep in your own bed. You're AWOL. For most pilots, the goal is to minimize TAFB while maximizing your W2. Not to jam in as many trips through customs (and sleep-wrecking time zone changes) as possible.
As a Swiss citizen i'm happy to see someone who's not only enjoy to fly across the world but also to enjoy the country he's at. The Swiss alps are absolutely incredible and just beautiful. Glad that you've enjoyed your trip😃

I remember one time meeting a United pilot in Denver who sat in the left seat and who had flown for many many years. He was out as to who he was to everyone and no one had any issues with it including United. I could say the same thing about the other airlines in the US and that was 20 years ago. Glad that nowadays we have the platforms that allows everyone to see the realities of life and Swayne is of no exception. Many commercial airline pilots are retiring soon so there is a huge need for newer pilots. Some of the best flights I've ever flown were by female pilots, something unheard of back in the 70s. The times have changed and for the better. Thank you Swayne.

We used to do the same type of pattern at British airways, 4 transatlantic’s in 6 days, we called them back to backs. We were allowed to be rostered one in every 28 day period.
1. Go to local flight school for discovery flight. 2. Get a medical 3. Focus on completing 1st solo. Then... you've just logged Pilot-in-Command, Solo hours, and are now a pilot.

Wow, my brother!!! That is all I have to say. Thank you sir. Starting my studying for my FAA written test in 5 months. I should be ready to take it in December. Plus, I'm scheduling my simulation practice at the same time. Everything should be ready for flight training in February of 2024 for the next 9 months. Should be ready for everything by October in 2023. Thank you for all the videos and encouragement. Currently, I'm reading "Anyone Can fly" by Jules Bergman. It is really good! Make anyone wants to take up flying lessons.
The section where you spoke about the techniques to adjust to the time zone was interesting. I've never seen that addressed before. I might try to match the time in my time zone, but sleeping when tired would probably win out. Loved watching the recreational flights over the Alps. Thanks for sharing that.👍 Interesting video.

A friend of mine is blind and an aviation historian (Mark Carlson, he's written several books about his adventures) - he travels to conventions with a seeing eye dog. Once they stopped in O'Hare and had a long layover and the dog REALLY had to go. There was supposed to be someone at the gate to take the dog to the relief area but no one was around; as they were discussing what now? the pilot came down the ramp and asked if he could help. My friend could only wonder what the sight of an Airline Captain with mirrored sunglasses on, with a Seeing Eye Dog, caused in reactions amongst the other travelers in the terminal... I've been binging your videos today from Hawaii on; what a wonderful career you've had and the idea to document everything for YT was genius. I remarked to my friend how well spoken you were and what a great representative you were to Mokulele airline. I can see why the Big Boys grabbed you up. Well done, young man! It would until you did it for a few years straight. Then, not so much. Once you get over the "glam", its all about the Benjamins and TAFB.
