B767 is one of the best job acconplishment of my life. I worked during the production of the first 60 airplanes of the 767 between 1981 - 1984 .My title was (Mechanical Electrical Avionics Functional Test) My position allowed me to install and to functionally make sure every electrical electronics hydraulics and mechanical are working per directive drawings. Most of my work was in the flight deck, the Avionic bay, the Wheelwell, and the engine pillons. My qualifications at the time were after being an Avionics ElectroMechanic Tech for the Air Force C130, C141, and C5 cargo airplanes. My position at the final assembly during the manufacturing process was quite fun. It was a job that I was very proud to be able to do for my country. I would have done it for free if I had to. It was such joy to just being able to actually see the entire process being put together so successfully at the final assembly of the factory. The first 10 airplanes were designed for 3 pilots, then we had to go back and retrofit them for 2 pilots at the flight deck, which was very challenging. We managed to accomplish it all successfully in a timely manner. These are memories that I will always cherish for being at the center of it. Yes, we did take pride working together at Boeing. United and AllNippon were the lunching airlines of the 767. In fact, I had some opportunities to go help out on the 757 program to help them get on the same track as of the 767. Both were a new innovative airplanes.
    Long live the 767.

One time I was flying UAL from LAX to DEN and was listening to channel 9 while still on the tarmac at LAX. There was this huge argument between ATC LAX and a few of the pilots about departure order as there was some tarmac construction which caused some traffic issues. We were second in line and our pilot happily offered our spot as we were just going to Denver which is very routine but ATC was like, No Denver, you are second. I've also heard of some other arguments between pilots on other flights on channel 9 and was surprised at how subjective but not unprofessional the communications could become.

I spent the last 9 years of my career flying these, mainly for the places we went - the 777 had far fewer desirable destinations in that era at my airline. Interesting points about the center systems, although it may be that they would have been included anyway, since the A-300-600 also had three hydraulic systems and I know for certain that there never was any plan for a 3 engine version of that airplane (it was designed, as a twin, to an AA specification that had been put forward for the jet that became the DC-10 - AA always wanted fewer engines). As a bid status, it was arguably the best at the airline, since it encompassed both wide and narrow body, short and long hauls (or at least as long as I was prepared to tolerate!), international and domestic. I'm glad I had the opportunity to fly it and the 757. Too bad we retired all of them a few years back.

Hi Swayne - what a great tour. Your camera man kept up with you on the tour. The facts you presented was well explained. I was on a 767 from Boston to LA and the captain gave me a quick look in tour as the plan was deplaning, Major changes since 1978. I have noted to best seats to ask for. Very proud of your accomplishments keep up your professional work. Looking forward to your next video. dwb

This was awesome! HUGE fan of the 767/757! Please try and do something similar on the 757 - it's my favorite plane! Showing the quirky things about the plane and even your own pilot stuff around the cockpit is awesome! Like no other

Been following you for a long time and real happy for you that you've taken such a big step in your career! Congrats! I only regret that I started on the path so late and I'll never make it that far.

Thank you for sharing. I always loved flying this bird between LAX and JFK. So different from my first flight in 1957 when it took 18 hours to fly from Frankfort to JFK.

The fact that I have watched you from being a university all the way till now is unreal. I’m only slightly behind you, just starting my private in University. My question is, can you make a video of your journey so far with tips for success that you’ve learned? Maybe the best way to do it affordably
