- In this video I install code 4 lead outlets to a torch on felt flat roof. I also finish the fronts with a vertically stepped face plate. Complete step by step guide. Hope you enjoy.

@@slbleadworks I do on the odd occasions, I am a Plumber by trade and used to do quite a lot of leadwork, changed careers 27 years ago so it is just now occasionally for friends or family, still enjoy doing it and having the work there to see in the future, still drive past jobs I did 30 years ago and have some pride in how it looks

I used to do leadwork as par tof a two man team. I am left handed and my mate was right handed. Really useful, as there are always tricky bits for one person that are easy for the other.

8:43 I thought you'd put the sleeve through the face plate, does it have to be that way, or you just go by the feel?
9:35 You shaving the sticks, does it give you a cleaner weld, or is it just to confuse viewers?
10:28 would you consider an adjustable sawhorses for the SLB brand?
14:45 as from the audience point of view, your welding looks cool and all but you'll have to shorten this clip...( know it feels wrong from the creator point of view, but I started scrolling through browser waiting for you to finish your weld)

Yes I did put the sleeve through the face plate. However I don’t show how I bossed the front down afterwards.
9 times out of 10 I shave hook the welding rods. I find this gives a cleaner weld and is generally just easier to work with. Lead defiantly isn’t as clean as it used to be many years ago. Omg makes me sound old lol.
And yes sorry I know the welding part was long. I get mixed reviews. Some people want to see the complete process so I try and show as much as I can. But thank you for watching the vid and taking the time to leave a comment.
Seems like the water might backflow between your open seam as it comes out the end of the pipe?
Yes this could happen if I had left it like the end of the vid. However I didn’t show how I bossed down the front of the pipe to stop any back flow.

Only problem I see it that them outlets should have a sump,
So if the insulation is 150mm the sump should be 80mm insulation,
So them outlets should be 80mm of the deck.
Thank you. I agree a sump would be a better detail. But it’s not shown on the drawing and I’m just a subcontractor doing what I’ve been asked by the person running the job.
@@slbleadworks well if that was a Bauder or Iko or Langley system on that flatroof that wouldn't get a warranty,
It's normally the project designer will forward the drawings to the above company and they would send there speck back and that speck would show the sumps.
So who ever is incharge of that job is in for a suprise.
Unless which maybe the case now that the insulation is 200mm and the outlets are fixed at the sump height.
I would definatly make the main contractor or the felters aware of this as it could be a costly oversight.

Could you please make a video how to set up a oxy turbo set? I’m struggling with it. I’m not sure if it’s too hot or too cold. When the lead welding rod melts off its very dark and wrinkled. I set the orange flame to 2-3inches but I think I’m going wrong with the oxygen. Thanks.
That type of gun are you using with the oxy turbo kit. Is it the kit with the model o torch ?
@@slbleadworks I’m not entirely sure. It was actually a kit a lead man on the firm used but it’s a old one he stoped using to use the large set like yours.
It's all about the flame and the shape and colour off the flame .. with oxy turbo set you adjust everything on the bottles . Your looking for a pale blue flame with a rounded tip ! And a welding flame about 3 mm . Your only going to find this by practicing at home and understanding how welding works ! Good luck
