I really like the felt idea. My daughter, son in law and 4 gbrats flew into Boise a couple weeks ago then drove to a friends in McCall, I picked them up xmas eve at Jacksonville Floridas airport. they had snow the whole time they were there
Oh man, I so wanna do a road trip and some good ol fashion stealth camping now! I really like your setup to, minimum, basic yet functional and the chicfilet did look delicious
Oh hell, I just saw the last name. I know who you are. I look forward to seeing the content you release on this channel. Since the whole covid mess started, I've been completely obsessed with outdoor vlogs and channels. Mostly would have been into is Bushcraft and extreme camping, along with a lot of fishing videos (of course). I'm still trying to get my health back in order after getting sick at the beginning of this whole thing. Maybe once I get my channel up and running, we can do some collabs or something like that. Anyway, I enjoyed the video and look forward to seeing more.
pretty cool. i am just now getting into doing this myself. bought a ford f150 xlt and just ordered a camper shell for it. been waiting for it since it takes 6 to 8 weeks or longer. since then i have been building bed frame and storage compartments for the back bed of the truck. looking forward to go camping once everything is installed. been watching a lot of these videos on how to truck camp. pretty cool with what you can do with amount of space you have.
So true. Each truck is a blank canvas and it’s up to us as individuals to build it out to suit our needs. Congrats on the new truck and best wishes on your build.
I am watching this on my iPad in the back of my truck. I’m at a campground with an electric space heater though. I like the idea of the zero degree sleeping bag and the mr buddy. Great video
They are so easy. Many times I’m camping on a hunting or fishing trip. I’d rather spend my time doing those vs cleaning up messes or making elaborate meals. Thanks for watching
The truck came with a spray in bed liner. On top of that is a rubber bed mat, it helps reduce the feeling of the ridges in the bed. Then carpet on top.
I have a dark fleece material cut down to size for each set of windows. I attached Velcro along the edges which sticks nicely to the carpet liner in my topper. It's quick, simple, and easily removeable if I want some daylight.
A portable man cave! There are ways you can cook on your Mr. Heater and lots of studies done on how they are safe for continuous burning, but like anything they can fail. I have used my heater for soup etc. Works real well for hot drinks like tea or coffee.
Out of curiosity how cold was it when you woke up in 20-30f after having the heater on before falling asleep? I'm in the middle of trying to decide on a heat option and may go with what you are using. Just got my cap, built the inside with plywood/2x4s last year and carpeted the setup. Can't wait to take it for a road trip.
I normally sleep with the heater off. I just don't trust them much and a good sleeping bag keeps me plenty warm. Since I made this video, I've been using a 2KW diesel heater instead of the Buddy. Check out my other videos of the installation and how well they work. For once in a while trips, the buddy is just fine. For more regular use, I'd highly recommend a diesel heater. Thanks for watching.
How tall are you? I think that that is a short bed but I’m not terribly sure. I just bout a 2018 with a topper on it and have been thinking about camping in mine. My main worry is the sleeping bed length and touching the front and back of the truck bed. Great video!
I use small "quick grip" type clamps that grab onto the topper latch and the other end under the lip of the tailgate. I should do a video explaining this. Thanks again!
My landlord sold the duplex I was leasing as my lease was about to renew. He refused to offer a month to month lease while it was being sold so I’m out on my ass. Been living in my truck for a week. Thanks for the video. It gives me lots of ideas on how to live in my pickup.
Sorry to hear about your lease but glad you're figuring the truck out. The key seems to be organization and use of space. Best wishes and thanks for watching!
I’ve been watching your videos to get ideas for my truck build. I know inside of ice fishing shacks can get moist when propane is used as a heat source. I know you also switched to diesel in your 2.0 build. Is diesel the way to go even though you have to cut a hole for air input and exhaust?
The diesel heater is really a game changer for me. For years, I used the buddy heater (propane). It works but it's difficult to control the temp - always too hot or too cold. If you run it for any length of time, condensation becomes a real issue. With the diesel heater, things stay dry and comfortable. I can adjust the heat as needed and even though some say reliability is an issue, mine ran all fall, winter, and early spring with zero issues. Even at elevation. The other plus factor is cost to operate. A single gallon of diesel lasts me multiple days vs expensive green propane cylinders that last a couple hours tops. Keep an eye out because I have a new diesel heater full install video coming soon. Thanks again!
Typically I don't run the heater very long. I only run it to warm up the truck, then shut it off. I do crack a window and have a small USB powered fan to move some air. Most of the condensation I see comes from sleeping through the night.

The felt works because it let’s just enough light in to see during the day. At night, it’s adds enough privacy
Would love to see more truck camping videos. I like your setup. I recently made a video of mine.
Trying to find time to get more done. Thanks for being patient

Thanks for the reminder I need to do the oatmeal thing! So easy!
I love those quick delicious meals.

Clean setup. Great video
Thank you!
I worked at that Cabela's for a couple years in the marine department. It's literally right down the hill and around the corner from my house.
That’s convenient. Thanks for watching

Nice and simple set up!!
Enjoy!!
Thanks!
Oh man...that customer service was great 👍
Yes it was!
Nice little set up man 👍 definitely gotta half caffeine in the morning lol
Absolutely.
Better! You're a quick learner Andy!

Thank you. I also use an electric heater in situations where I have access to power. Most areas I stay don't though. Appreciate the support.
Yeah I use a zero degree bag as well. No heater yet, I'm sleeping out of a Jeep Cherokee for now 🤙
Glad I'm not the only one who uses two packs of oatmeal!

More truck camping videos plz!!! 👍👍👍
My plan was to make a video every other week. Life got busy and I’ve put this off. I’ll plan on making more ASAP
@@Outside605 yes please! thank you! 👍👍👍
Thx. The floor below the carpet and truck bed walls are covered with …

Good job Andy
Can you even lock the hatch on that from the inside? I'd be worried about some weirdo climbing in lol
Yes. I have a pretty easy way to secure it. I'm in the process of filming/editing my setup that I'll post once it's complete.
What have you done for window privacy? I like your set up.

I'm roughly 6'
The box on my truck is 6.5', I fit rather easily.
Congratulation por. Tus vídeos. Amigo👍
oatmeal looks bomb brother
Thanks for watching 👌
Are the gaps near the tailgate enough ventilation for the heater? I am curious for when I use mine.
I no longer use the buddy heater. I installed a diesel heater which solves most of that problem. Thanks for watching
Looks really comfy
It's not bad at all.
Lol
Very good amigo!!👍
Thanks for the video! How do you secure your back window to keep potential thieves or worse from entering?????

Any chance you have a schematic of your 2x2 build and possibly how you wired up your electrical service?
This has been asked for quite a bit so I'll work on getting this done when it's not so hot outside. Thanks for watching!

Gotta have that table. Who makes it. Thanks.
It’s a lifetime brand folding table.
We Needa talk about that chick fil a order man... no pickles?!?
Haha!
You'll save a lot of propane if you use a top on your pot to boil water
You're right. I typically do. In the case of filming, I thought it would be easier to show without the lid on.
@@Outside605 cool brother and nice setup hope I get to see some more cool vids from you
New sub here. Dig the video. Starting to move my channel to camping
Awesome and thanks for the sub! Safe travels
Dude how do u ventilate. Do u crack a window
Yes. I have several sliding windows that I can leave open.
Thanks for watching
It sucks when you get rousted up in the middle of the night. It iis no picnic.
Truth
How do you deal with the condensation from the Mr. Buddy?

What's your vehicle? I drive a 05 Ford Escape Hybrid.
2019 Silverado
Check out MAV channel. Similar to you!!
I've watched his channel some. Lots of good stuff.
