I have the storm ready and it took about 15 minutes to do the setup, and it showed a weak connection. I had it by a window, so I left it and 2 days later I got a strong connection after a restart. Works great, but you need to have patience.

You’re a life saver honestly I thought I got a faulty storm box but it just does that for everyone who doesn’t have the mobile lines with xfinity

it's kinda like the 5g wireless modems that tmobile and verizon are pushing for the home internet but it only works for 4 hrs but what if you have a generator outside and you run a extension cord to the router will you have to charge it up first and then unplug it or can you use it forever as long as it is plugged in

**edit: read comments below for update**
I was told by an in store xfinity rep that it's not really "unlimited," you have unlimited data within a 4-hour block of time starting from when the outage occurred. So, if you still have power, but your internet line gets damaged in a storm, you won't have unlimited data for days, it's just 4 hours total, per outage incident.
So this product is useless for me. We had a bad ice storm and a tree fell on our cable line. we still have power, but have been without internet for going on a week now.

thanks saves me time and money. been having lot of planned and unplanned outages from xfinity as of late and was hoping this would help.

@@sly2792004 I have an update for you. I asked another instore rep, he ended up calling his tech line for information on it. That guy ended up saying the opposite. It is unlimited and the only limitation would be the battery if there were no power.
I ended up just keeping it hoping the first guy got their notes wrong. It's still a mixed bag for me, it's actually helped once during a non-weather-related outage when we had to have our cable reran from the house to the outside pole. But last week we had a random disconnection at midnight for maybe 30 minutes, and the storm wifi never kicked in. *shug*
There is really no way for me to personally verify its truly unlimited without a longer than 4 hour outage ;D

That agent was unfortunately incorrect. When your power is out, the unit will run to you 4G LTE data at maximum speeds of 30mbps, however the data you use while connected is unlimited. The “4 hours” is from the battery backup itself.

I got mine today I connected it correctly. It says it’s activated but it’s not working. What am I doing wrong? I’ve unplugged it. The battery life is at 17% and it will not go up from there and there’s no lights on the device.

    • @BorisKaraman

You did everything correctly. The device will restart couple of time on its own and then connect correctly. On average, people are saying it take 15 mins+. Let it charge and leave it, it will kick in :)

Xfinity doesn't need a "Storm Ready" system, they need a "Our coax service sucks and always goes out" system.
