THANKS CORY 🤗 for interviewing KYLE
Kyle is the man!! thanks for having him on!
It has been funny watching him in his videos. He tried so hard to make tesla look bad and failed every time. Kyle is the master of the own goal.
KYLE is an NPC.
I just watched an amazing interview where the host is a ghost.
WE WILL MISS YOU CORY!!
Best podcast so far!!! Excellent!! Both of you are top of your game!!!
Thanks for listening!
@@munrolivepodcast the best over the air update for all these electric vehicles is a small block chevy
On your comment about Tesla with Hardware 4, I took delivery of new Austin built Model Y on June 20 with Hardware 4. I’m experiencing about 15% greater efficiency in power usage compared to my early serial number 2020 Model Y that I traded. Better efficiency plus better stated range = very pleased. General quality is excellent.
Two of my favorite EV transportation experts! I have met them both, and yes they are truly kind and engaging!
Thanks Cory for hosting Kyle Connor on your UA-cam show! Great video!
This comment feeds the algorithm 🚀 GoMunro, GoKyle!
All the best to you Cory and thank you so much for getting the Munro UA-cam channels online!
Great conversation. Very engaging and fun to listen to two knowledgeable and enthusiastic car guys. Thanks.
Enjoyed this interview
Wow. One of your best Podcasts yet! Thank you.
Thanks for listening
Loved this! How about a weekly podcast with you two?
Thank you guys ……great under the floor discussion…..very educating!!
Great Podcast, what we have been waiting for and very informative. Summary of EV news in a nutshell. Thanks guys.
The best advertising for Tesla is seeing all the cars on the road. I have one and it is a great car. Great Great Podcast.
I kind of disagree with the range statement about Tesla range, at least on my model 3. In ideal conditions at freeway speeds, I can get within a few percent of my rated range.
Excellent interview!!!
What a great video! Watching this video reminds me and confirms the validity of a comment I made a while ago on another EV review video, which was, If the major manufacturers don’t have a department dedicated to watching all of these videos, and, contacting their EV customers for their opinions of their vehicles then those manufacturers are not very smart and won’t ever be able to get anywhere remotely close to the EV sales numbers of Tesla.
Massively entertaining, objective, timely, surprisingly entertaining. Choice.
Do it again sometime.
Cory - you are the best! And what a great interviews - well... it was kind of more of a great conversation than an interview.
Really enjoyed the discussion. Enjoy both of your channels. Definitely will be investing in a EV in the future. Probably a model Y.
Loved the interview
CORY , I see where you’re coming from, we raised four boys and with their friends we got through that. With full-size vans.😁
@17:45 I drove a Volkswagen ID4 for a year and a half and over that time electrify America stations were completely falling apart more and more. Slow chargers broken chargers wait times because of the down machines... So this past January 2023 I switched over to Tesla model Y. Amazing experience every time I use a supercharger. Just amazing
Finally!!! I've been waiting for this video!!!
Very insightful. I subscribe to all of your UA-cam channels (Munro and Out of specs). Keep the great content coming.
Thank you.
Thanks!
Great Show Keep Up The Great Work
Yes! Awesome interview
Great job fellas 2 of the best!!!
Kyle does his best when he is the guest. I'm not the biggest fan of his channel, but I like pretty much everything he participated.
Why is Cory leaving so suddenly? It seems that something weird may have happened. I hope the best for you Cory.
Captivating discussion!
It is so refreshing to listen to these two. They tell it like it is, rather than looking at things with fan boy blinders on.
Best interview ever. 2 of the greatest guys in the EV industry ❤❤❤❤
Great discussion! All over the map. Wish you guys could run a series together and narrow down the subject. I’d have many Qs in a live forum. I thought of so many Qs in this one, but you’d leave the subj and poof, I’d get another question, but man, you both have a wealth of knowledge and experiences. Thanks!
Come Back Cory!!!! Sandy should give you a percentage of the company. 15%
Yeah I was blown away to see Cory announce he was leaving on Twitter. He's the president and heir apparent. Sandy must really be hell to deal with behind the scenes to lose Cory like that. I suspected as much. He visibly puts Cory through hell and treated him like an apprentice in the early days. I was surprised to hear he was president. It's clear to me Sandy didn't properly value Cory.
@@Nphen I would like to hear what really happened between Cory and Sandy. I would hate to learn it was just about egos.
@@Nphenyour arrogant assumptions are worthless.
Nice to have my ev fix satiated with the inside evs podcast on a break! Great conversation..
Loved this! Learnt a lot. Kyle is a real expert and a real pleasure to watch and listen to for any EV enthusiast or for someone learning about EV
While I agree with Kyle that you would not need a 120 KWh battery in 5-10 years , I also disagree on the "you don't need much range.....with a good charging infra and battery technology that enables fast charging" . While Kyle, Tom are great ambassadors to impart EV knowledge to the common man who intends to buy an EV as a commute / road tripper and would be interested in less interruption with charging (even if it comes down to 5 min for 10-80% in 2030 for instance). Technology should make lives better. An EV with better efficiency should enable both fewer stops and faster charging. With better battery tech, better motors, better aerodynamic innovations and may be solar body an EV should enable ranges from 150 - 700 miles of range depending on the battery size with the smaller packs asp[iring for a 6 miles / kwh efficiency and the larger ones can do a 4-4.5 miles / kwh. To me that will enable faster EV adoption
While I agree Toyota does not deserve to be in EV conversation yet, I believe they are the EV underdogs to watch out for. While Tesla manages great efficiency (even amidst the range complaints. wish they could always under promise and over deliver now that Ev adoption is underway) Not to forget the german brands (BMW, Mercedes, porsche) who seem to find ways to improve efficiency as noted in kyle's range test for iX, EQS SUV and the Taycan 4S
Range is important and so is fast charging
GOOD JOB!
Nice and interesting interview. Love the easygoing atmosphere.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste.. 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ ☮ ❤
so great! thanks for this
Glad you liked it!
6 or seven years ago I was watching a new 1 that wasn't new: Autoline after hours with John McElroy & they had on this rough looking cowboy type & they were talking Tesla. I had been aware of this company since '06 or so -so my ears perked up.
The quasi-Eastwood looking guest spilled out his take on the new M3.
He praised them on tech & tanked 'em on old school, build Q.
Munro was Amazing. I had never seen a true old school, straight shooting, goddamn machinist go on a show & burn these auto journalists doors off -n a respectful way. It was Epic.
Nowadays, we're treated to Corey & Kyle talking about all of the transport changes we are witnessing as our very lives roll on.
This is a good sign in life. It gives me hope that we are capable of changing with the times. In a positive manner. Peace/Out.
Battery pack size (energy content) will continue to grow with energy density technology.. As Cory said it’s nice to not have to stop during a road trip..
Excellent content.
Amazing interview. Kyle is an expert in all thing EVs.
BYD has arrived in Brazil and it’s popularity is growing. So electric vehicles are not that far off on those markets. Traditional OEM will lag and lose even more market share.
BYD only makes Crappy BEV that are ICE car based.
they dont even have LEVEL 2 ADAS .
TESLA is a better OEM , and is Building a FACTORY to build the NEXT GEN Tesla for 1/2 price of Tesla model 3 in Monterrey , MX .
BTW , Tesla is building Multiple factory to produce the NEXT GEN Tesla.
Love all of Kyle’s channels and having him on Munro is awesome. Great podcast!
Lived in China 16 years, had a BYD and it was amazing. The Xpeng was so much fun and we test drove many cars there. Charging was great but like for non-Tesla it was unreliable, but better than here.
Great podcast ❤
SPOT on about leadership...a sound foundation is important in any endeavour.
What's with the small disposable plastic water bottles? Can't fill up a glass with tap water?
18.11 was a game changer. Love this guy
Awesome stuff guys, two of the biggest EV engineer experts talking shop!! I especially liked the charging infrastucture discussion (first time I heard CCS cars won't work on V2- that explains it!),
and from recent experiences, the software @21:12 plus good charging experience is CRITICAL to smooth and fast user adoption of EVs.
Agreed, Tesla software is lightyears ahead, it just WORKS, very intuitively (good, since many things/buttons are actually bit unlabled, need fix that), and constantly updated and improved... Rivian was smart to copy from the best, although their initial stuff (Alexa maps/nav) had lots of issues. Glad Rivian has kept up w/ user feedback!
After hearing Sandy's frustrations and trashing of the VW old UI/software, and recently checking out Ford MachE... it REALLY is a concern.
I was VERY frustrated as a Tesla driver that things didn't work (at least consistently), or took multiple extra steps, app was poor, etc... some stuff mostly did work, but... just wasn't as polished or was missing small but critical features? eg,... START button on the car. So stupid and unnecessary... many times I forgot to turn off the car after leaving; it didn't lock, wasted AC, etc... and on entry, many precious seconds wasted a) turning car on, then more waiting for the A/C to spin up and start cooling the car, on a hot day... that was torture! (and, the "remote start" to get car pre-cooled from app, almost NEVER worked.) vs Tesla, you just... open door and get in, it unlocks and starts up , EVERY TIME, INSTANTLY. And getting out,.. you just get out, it shuts off, and locks.
Other small stuff like app lock: tesla has ONE icon for lock/unlock toggle, and shows current car state. Ford has... TWO icons, unlock and lock, and... you CANNOT TELL what the car state is. Very disconcerting when walk-away lock didn't always work for me?? and then long-press to remote lock.... maybe worked? No feedback!
The UI and voice commands were also just laggy, slow, not always responding correctly, settings and app screens took the ENTIRE screen and hid the map... sigh.
Just so much nicer on Tesla. Whereas it is a familiar and relaxing joy to use & drive a Tesla, other EV was sometimes a very frustrating and disconcerting experience..
Hope they improve fast!
More of this please.
Cory is gone. There will be no more.
Wow great podcast!
Thanks for listening
Thanks!
Thank you!
surprising and fresh podcast I had not expected not knowing anything about his channel and activities.
I liked the talk between the fronts that touches real issues even though we look at those total differently cause here every sedan is a tow vehicle, no one gets a truck and if boy you will get shit thrown from smiling faces, the kids in the kindergarden will go crazy if you arrive with a Hummer or F150 . Dinosaur, environment polluter are the nicest words you would here.
The issue is the driver to learn the simple lesson which vehicle to use what for the best. If you have a diesel car then any EV might be good for your family as second car to get around town cause the long range is covered quite well with any diesel. Towing too. And if Diesel prices are a lot higher than surplus power from your roof then obviously you can save a lot of money running the EV most of the time .
Fun does not really matter in a country where you have no streets without speed limits. And even here with unlimited Autobahn you have to forget that now driving rreckless has become a crime up to 15 years or so in prison in case you cause a crash even not being under drugs. If you rev the engine up , welcome to get a fine, if you are next to a porsche on a red light and think you battle it out, great opportunity direct into the prison with no chance to get a driver licence back, not to mention all other licences are gone too like pilots licecnce and captains patent.
Strict and simple, but unlimited autobahn with the asterisks that you are only allowed to drive as far as you can not hurt someone else and the wether it allows.
You two are really good together.
Good interview
Thanks
Very inform!!!
Cory you are right about Cybertruck owners...
Thanks for this great interview!! More please.
Cory is gone. There will be no more
@@paintedpony2935 what do you mean Cory is gone???
Excelante, even better than most.
at 42:09 Cory is referring to the "Osborne effect". Love the video.
Range will increase but pack size will decrease as battery density improves. It's already up 30% this year by some makers.
If you're not first, you're last---Ricky Bobby 2006 😂😂😂
🏆
@@munrolivepodcast woot woot. 😁😁
I have to say, the bigger battery is important to me since I do not drive 70 mph on road trips. I'd have so many people on my butt in florida driving that speed. Add in temps, air conditioning, and so far the real highway range drops by 75 easy. Once charging is reliable from all stations and more of them, then things change.
A friend of mine traded in his Chevy Bolt for a slow (relative to other sports cars), manual transmission Toyota ICE sports car he intends to take to the track, specifically for the nostalgic (?) driving experience. I don't get this at all - I forced myself to drive a manual Subaru for years while living on hills in Seattle and I'll never go back to manual, or ICE for that matter - but it definitely supports the idea that car people will continue to buy certain types of ICE.
Great interview. Alot of good points noted. I like how yall talked about ICE vehicles being a niche for a long time into the future. I love EVs but i dont want the car enthusiasts to lose their right to drive on the roads.
15:00 Super chargers are occupied in Bay Area and in LA, opening up chargers to other OEMs would affect Tesla owners. Yes, during the day time they are empty but morning, evening and weekends they are completely occupied. Also, in these high population urban areas folks live in apartments and Superchargers are the only option to keep the car charged up. During long weekends, these superchargers end up having a long trail of cars waiting to charge on i5
It's refreshing to hear folks who realize that ev cars and trucks currently have unique use case. The answer is, it depends!
Funny, I threw around the "double the Model Y pack" idea yesterday with Yaman on Spaces...
Please find out if the WT is built the same as the RST.
On the WT. Can the rear window be removed and some metal be cut away to make a permanent opening like the mid-gate. Then put a topper on it to keep it dry for sleeping.
Intelligent conversation
Lookin good Cory
Fantastic interview, Kyle was a great guest to your channel.
Bjorn Nyland is the global charging guru.
And banana box cargo sizing! :)
Why did Cory leave!?
Something happened. The guy was a heartbeat away wasnt he?
what did Cory leave from? What have I missed?
he posted his leaving tweet after coming back from Cali tesla meetup, a bit abrupt. Hope its all okay for him, and just a break/job opportunity etc that will hear about later.
I thought he was the anointed successor to the Man.
Because he loves his Yukon gas guzzler. Good riddance.
This is huge
Nice bromance moment at the end lol❤
Kyle has a camper van and took a road trip to Alaska with it once. I think he had fun.
Awesome video. Great job Cory and Kyle. Cory I am really going to miss your videos. You will be truly missed, Unless you are "moving on" to becoming the exclusive Munro podcast host. 😀
I heard that he left Munro. Is this true?
Yes, he is leaving.
I've been watching Cory and Sandy videos for a long time. Sad to see Cory leaving.
nice!
👏👏
Engineering explained did a good video for range differences.
Great interview🔥sorry for a stupid unrelated question but what is your desk made from?
They said in a comment in one of the first podcasts that the two desks were from wayfair. The exact model seems no longer to be available.
Rivian R1T is great. Their software release cycle is really quick too. Gonna miss Cory
lets see IF Rivan makes it past 2024, UNLIKELEY.
The European version of Kyle is Bjorn Nyland, aka Teslabjorn. The same tests (range/charging etc), reviews seem to pass. But for Europe some more relating nuance of course. And the EV's available in EU but not (yet) in the USA.
But Bjørn was doing it 10 years ago.
12 stall Tesla supercharger in South Philadelphia is always full so Tesla recently built an opened eight more chargers at that location to alleviate some wait time. Kudos to Tesla
So after all this..I’d pick a Lucid every time. If I go perfect I’m going Prius, Tesla, even Porsche, but I like different and the things that need to be fixed..once fixed makes it next level. I’m all in like I was with Macintosh back in the late 80’s early 90’s when everything pointed to over priced and not realistic or justifiable. But after some adjustments lasted longer than anyone expected. I do appreciate all EV’s in general. Good convo
I feel you are wrong on ICE cars. Gas stations already make very little profit from gas. Once they start to close owning an ICE car will be like owning a Leaf today.
There may be a period of "Lithium Irony" where those gas stations, having installed and become essentially "Charging Stations" have enough footfall from the EV drivers in the store to finance the gas side of the business.... ?
But I suspect the gas price will fluctuate depending on the games played by suppliers trying to maintain profit?
Right now For towing best solution is range extender, or the trailer has its own battery which feed the vehicle.
Kyle nails it with the everyman experience with EV change over in time mindset in NA. However, I am not so sure about Cybertruck keeping up the with the past roll out of the model Y car. It seems to me the Telsa mindset does not include the average Joe ICE Pickup driver. That may mean that a wall will be hit with the Cybertruck future roll out. Cost will always be a factor so a lot of unknowns are still plaguing the EV future in NA.
Surely the correct occasional towing solution is a trailer with a battery pack or a small generator in the trailer.
Kyle, Did you know that Rivian has a patent for a removable battery pack that is water cooled for the bed of the R1T? They got the patent back in 2019.
Version 2 in europe use CCS so I assume they can be upgraded.
I wish they did battery swapping where you can exchange your small battery for a large when taking a long trip.
My bladder and rear are only good for only 2 hours.
Watch what happens when gas is $8 a gallon and it costs $280 to drive 700 miles. Don't be stupid rent a huge vehicle when you need it. Cory looking good with the running keep up all your good work
