I think rivian would be a popular car in Norway. BUT it would not sell much if the price is over $100K as the one in this video.

@@radagastthefool6661 That price in Norway is USD160,000, so too expensive. But the main problem with Rivian being popular in Norway is probably the size of it. And of course, only work trucks are pickups over here, people don't buy pickup trucks for private use that much. The Rivian SUV version might tempt more Norwegians to splurge on a Rivian, but it will never be a huge seller.
Here in the us in Georgia, Rivians are everywhere. Especially the Amazon delivery trucks.

The Rivian would be the champion banana boxer. After riding in a Rivian at one of their pre-launch events, I fell in love. The ride was so smooth and the performance was beyond expectations.
Looking forward to what the (Europe friendly?) R2 will look like - Rivian seem to be bringing some really good thinking to their vehicles so far…
Love my R1T, coming up to 11 months, at 18900 km.
Saw it at Everything Electric North last year. It was parked next a Ford F150 Lightening which made the Rivian look small!
The Rivian is definitely a midsized truck with a 4 1/2 foot bed, the F150 Lightning is full size with a 6 foot. Different size categories for different uses.

I may be biased, but this is definitely the best color combination (our R1S is the same). A few little things: there is no glove box, only the storage space in the center and door pockets. Accessories do help with adding some more storage space, but it's definitely not all that much storage considering how large the vehicle is.
Also, the screen is not matte. The owner might have a screen protector on it to make it so. I find it easily readable, but it's about as glossy as the Tesla ones.
After 7 Teslas I would love to own a Rivian in Europe! Hopefully some day they officially sell them here!

@@lbtobl83yep. That worked even better with some of the more desirable non-Tesla EVs, made entirely from unobtanium. Cycling through EV's every few weeks was a pretty good business model until early last year.

Glad you could finally see it. I've had the R1S (Canyon Red) for 9 months now. Works great. I like the software. Very snappy fast entertainment system. Definitely could use some more apps on it though.
Thanks Bjorn, I am excited to see your thoughts on Rivian, it is one of the better startups in North America and they seem to being a great job with being so new. This may be a really great addition to Norway as you all love this kind of versatile vehicle.
Been waiting for this one to come to Europe since the first time it was presented. Even got shares in the company (still a loosing bet though). I'll grab one as soon as they're available in Denmark

Great vehicles. The seats are not the best for me but overall, its a great truck. Slight tweaks needed for the motors but that will come with time.
You need to ask them if they have the R1S SUV and if you can take it out for testing... It should fit a lot of banana boxes like the EV9 does as it is also very boxy.
I want R1S! But it's not sold in EU...and the price ofc.. Lets see what R2 will be. It will probably come to EU too.
They are definitely working on expanding into Europe with the launch of the R2

The logo reminds me of Renault.... rivian is cool, it's also not that expensive in the US, they should come to Europe officially. Servicing etc could be tricky...
I hope you get to drive the Rivian at some point. I've seen them many times here in the states with those unmistakable headlights. Rivian also built the Amazon delivery trucks here too. Thanks for the video

Very jealous about you right now, I'm fond of this vehicle since I saw the first protorype videos 😅Whatsoever since, I realised that this vehicle is way too big for European roads (unfortunately). You took me by surprise to not know more about R1T and all of its features 😉. Anyway, on March 7, there will be held a reveal event by Rivian for R2, where I hope they will unveil a European road suitable version of R1T (hopefully including a camper's kitchen - one of the best features in combination with a roof top tent).
They are coming to Europe. Give it another year 1 to 3 yrs. They already have a service center Dusseldorf. So, may be sooner than later. The soin to be announced R2S will undoubtedly be sold in europe end of 2025/2026. They may start out with the commercial vans initially, but that's today speculation on my part.

I followed this truck when it should come out and they had a price around 75.000 USDollar in the US, and with aprox 9 NOK a Dollar, without any taxes or VAT in Norway at the time, I wayted for this as a car I could use both in my job and for private driving, and keep it for years. They promised to bring it to Europe and Norway very soon. But the start of new production naturally can take time, and we got the pandemic. The first price annonced back in time could made this a dream vehicle for me and much others in Norway, and the tests at TFL was very promising.
Rivian have been clever and not rushet the production before they naled it, but the dreaming vehicle disappeared. Now this don't make any sense to me anyway, because I became disabled from the Corona vaccine and have been bedridden for more than two years, and of course I'm neither allowed to drive or able to sit in it. Good luck to the Rivian people, I think this car is made to last and hope the projeckt turns out well for them. And good luck to you Bjørn.
Huge fan of the Rivian truck. Massive power, and crazy impressive towing capacity. Apparently up to 5.000 kg 💪 Americans don't mess around.
For 10 miles yeah. The range is sooo bad when towing. Less than 1/3rd of rated range. That’s not enough here to even make it from fast charger to fast charger here in the us. And to top it off it over heats the battery after a couple charges and changes at under 100kw max. Most of the time less.
Man! I spoted one today for the first time as well... What a coincidence. Did not know we have them in Europe. It was the SUV version with Wienna plates...

I wrote Rivian a DM of when they are coming to Europe, they replied with: ` new info Will be released very shortly, stay tuned”, I guess they are coming here with the launch of new R2 in March..

There’s a series called “Long Way Up” on Apple TV+ in North America. Actor Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman took a trip from Tierra del Fuego to Los Angeles on pre-production Harley Livewire e-motorcycles, with a pair of Rivian R1T support trucks, their first production vehicles. Don’t know if you can track it down in Norway, but pretty impressive TV. Hope they come to Norway. Impressive trucks, despite the price!
I own one and it's the greatest vehicle I've ever driven! Fantastic always improving software, morphs between offroad rally beast to rock crawler to sports car (seriously!) to luxurious around-town cruiser. The be all end all vehicle.

Wow €150k in Norway is not worth it. Let's see how much the new electric Mercedes G-Class (EQG) costs, probably a full €10k less. And buyers who really need the bed in the back can buy the Ford F-150 Lightning for €105k in Norway
From the US: Note these actually meet or beat their estimated range. Get one to test. But thats $160k USD for a $85k vehicle.
A 3-way grouptest by yourself would be something else.
Beautiful truck. I wonder how it will work with each costing $30K above what they charge. Looks very capable and well appointed. The cybertruck will be more spacious, but this is smaller and easier to handle.

Would love to see these in the UK, but not very efficient.
They are available in the UK but very significantly marked up in price as they are imported by 3rd parties.
Still a lot more efficient than a traditional truck or SUV for people who need those types of vehicles
I'm wondering who's gonna fix them in europe 😅. I imagine is not quite easy to get spare parts and the number of companies willing to work on them is also quite low
IMHO Rivian wants to sell this in EU, it needs a CCS2 charge port. Otherwise i think it is way too big for EU roads, probably usable only in the Nordics or sparse populated part of Spain.
My Rivian drives like my Volvo XC 90!
They are too big for certain countries in Europe. A couple of days ago one of these trucks came towards me in an alley in Austria which fits two regular cars, but no chance with a Rivian.
I like the Rivian but is too big for British roads.

A great démonstration of the absurdity of pickups. Tho this electric version is marginally more practical than the ICE ones, thanks to the tiny and just barely usable boot in the front, where you can place your wet fishing boots, and the box under the bench, where you can place the fishing rod. Your wet and dirty dog still rides on the leather seats...🤦♂️

What happens when it breaks?
The Rívian looks like a good car but the company is still losing money on every car they sell. They need to achieve profitability soon or things can get dicey for them.

In the UK I believe the Rivian is just below the weight limit for a standard licence, so you don’t need to take another test. Saying that, a LHD (left hand drive) vehicle of this size would be challenging to drive/park in the UK so the appeal is limited.
@@mrpibbsdotcom pretty sure the gross vehicle weight, with people and cargo on board, for homologation would exceed the limit of 3.5T, like in the rest of Europe. Unless, it would be homologated for just two people, and no cargo possible

Yes, you can drive in Norway with foreign plates.
If I remember correctly, you have 6 months to change to Norwegian plates if you move here with a car.

Im sure its a cool truck BUT its useless. You pay 1.6+mill NOK and what do you do when something goes wrong? No dealers in norway or even in europe so your warrenty is worthless. And even if you get your car to a random service nobody know how to fix it & they cant get parts. So what do you do :D ? lol

The single body design of this vehicle makes is a massive failure. Remember the scandal from a few months ago when a rivian owner got hit slightly in the back and they asked for 40.000 dollars to repair the dent?!?!
Because of the low cost engineering and manufacturing process, you can't take down the body panel of this pickup truck.
All pickup trucks have separate truck bed. Nope, not here.
The upcoming Chevy Silverado EV, its GMC version doesn’t have a separate bed. Same goes for every Honda Ridgeline ever made. The original Chevy Avalanche, Cadillac Escalade EXT…
