Watching on iPad Pro that HDR 🔥

@@festyVAL21 Out of Spec doesn't provide its viewers eye insurance, sorry.
The BMW i4 also was worth to mention, the eDrive40 is a good deal.
It's great that 12 years after Nissan brought out the first mainstream electric car, there are now so many electric car models available that you can do a top 10. This is a future I had hoped for back in the 00's
Electric cars have been a huge gash gob that did nothing to really preserve our planet haha. Our attention has just been directed to things that don´t matter. No one is doing anything to the real sources of pollution. Cars are not it and the electric car is no better than petrol/diesel ones in the 20-year life span they average. Hydrogen is the real future.
A top 10… minus the people that brought the original to market 12 years ago.
A sick future indeed.
We just today bought a '23 Ioniq 5. Local dealer's pending sale fell through, so we jumped on the availability. (a good way to find one; keep in touch with your local dealers) MSRP, no money grab as some are doing, including one in your area, Kyle. We're in our early 70's, so the learning curve is a bit intimidating but we'll get through it. If the ride home from the dealer is any indication, we're going to love it. Thanks for all your great information.
👍
I love my ID4 Pro S AWD , but I don’t road trip a lot, I can charge at work and at home, and I don’t tend to spontaneously road trip. It fits my lifestyle and driving style really well.
My 2022 AWD ER Mach-E is the best car I have ever owned. I still enjoy your channel.
Great list. I’ve had my Bolt 2LT for a year now. I chose it because I never planned on going on road trips with it. It’s doing an amazing job as a commuter and city/town/countryside runabout car. Not fast but it moves quicker than most typical vehicles on the road.
I do a trip to family, about 340miles away. I charge once at the halfway point for about 40 minutes to an hour, while having lunch. No real complaints. No route planning, but I never need to use it going to town or to work.
The app has trip planning.
GM just needs to do a refresh on the DCFC capabilities and thermal management and the Bolt is fine the way it is. If you ever need to road trip you will appreciate the faster charging times. Your described use seems tolerable, but it would be great for GM to just fix this.
That said I live out in an EV desert off of the beaten path and even if you can find a place to charge it is likely capped at 50kw. So it isn't the Bolt that is going to be the reason for the long charging times once you are away from the main transportation corridors. The infrastructure needs a pretty significant lift to make this a better experience all around.
Ty for sharing
A little odd that the ID.4 didn't make your list, given that you've helped three people close to you into them. While it clearly has software issues, you've pointed out repeatedly that it's good value and basically sound. I bought one 3 months ago, based largely on your reviews and recommendations, and am quite happy with it. On the other hand, I urged my son to get the Model Y instead, because he lives in Maine and should be better served by the Tesla infrastructure.
VW ID4 is a dog. Horrific software. My next door neighbor was an early adopter but got rid of it. Poor man had problems on weekly basis and VW and the VW dealer couldn’t help him. It is incomprehensible to me how Porsche an Audi have decent software in their EV cars, Volkswagen doesn’t.
ID4 is a nice attempt, but its only advantage a year ago was its price. And now that the Model Y is less expensive than the ID4, it’s a no brainer to get the Tesla.
@@American_Energy the cheapest Model Y is more than $10,000 more expensive than a large battery base ID.4. $15,000 if you consider the small battery base ID.4.
I have a 2023 id4. None of the issues people reported with the older models. I'd recommend it for sure.
@@drnick40 yikes is this a bad take. Your neighbor either got one of few lemons, has an awful dealership, or has no idea how to operate an EV.
Most ID4s have had a great experience, unless you're obsessed with your software being really fast everytime. Anyone switching from an ICEmobile will be totally fine with software that's not the greatest(hint: apple carplay and Android are great with this car).
I know multiple Tesla owners that have switched to ID4 as well as ICE owners like me, and love it.
Just bought an EV6 GT a week ago and I am stunned by what Kia has done. The tech is amazing, the quality is top-notch and the acceleration in GT mode is almost frightening. I was worried about the stated 206 mile range, but I am already getting 220+ in 40 degree weather so that should improve in summer. So far in my limited driving I’m getting over 3 miles per kilowatt hour (I got 4.9 on one short drive!) and considering the performance, I can live with that. I drive mostly in Normal mode, which is more than adequate (400+ hp), with fairly frequent short bursts in GT mode. I have owned performance cars all my life, but this thing is something else. Comfort, practically, futuristic good looks, great value for the money, fast charging and blazing acceleration. I love it.
$60k + tax?
@@IdiotsincarshereMSRP is about 63k including extras for Pearl paint, 4 floor mats, cargo mat and destination charge. There are no other options available, the car comes fully loaded. I paid a little under MSRP plus tax. They were asking 6k over MSRP, but they were willing to bargain.
are those cars safe from theft
Considering EV6, but not quite sure about the design. It looks big, a bit bulky? But it looks good in black. A bit hesitant of big cars, my little Hyundai Kona has been very practical.
Your comments about Electrify America charging experience was spot on: during my Thanksgiving trip from Seattle to the San Francisco Bay Area and back, I had 3 EA complete failures and many super slow “350 kW” chargers barely making it to 100 kW despite 10% remaining battery charge, pre-heating of the battery, etc.
Just took another trip from WA to OR and had no EA issues at all. Charged one time at 180 kW and one time at 160 kW without any trouble and plug and charge working flawlessly.
We must be lucky. Our June 2020 Model S Long Range Plus is flat out awesome. Beautiful paint and build. Adjustable air suspension. NO creaks, groans or rattles. White over cream interior. Love the two screens, the 3 stalks, just enough buttons, and the huge screen. Lots of space. 0-60 mph in 3.7 sec. And the range of 402 miles with the Supercharger network is incomparable. The price, at $76,990 with free lifetime Supercharging has turned out to be a bargain!! She is averaging 243 watt-hours/mile, which is amazing as well.
I’m waiting on delivery of my 2023 Bolt EUV. I know the fast charging sucks but I’m a once a year road tripper and mostly in town commuting. You cannot beat the value of this car !
I had a Bolt before my ID4. We got the ID4 because it was bigger and higher off the ground but overall I was happier with my Bolt. Everything just worked logically, it was a killer deal for the price, fun to drive, park it anywhere. Your right it charges slower but it uses the electricity more efficiently that most EVs. You will love it, enjoy.
@Stephen Zerfas how much higher off the ground is the ID4. I am used to a Town&Country, but now looking for EV... suggestions?
For price and efficiency, very few -- if any -- EVs match the bolt
My first EV was a factory ordered 2017 Bolt EV. I absolutely loved everything about the car except for the interior. Neither my wife or I could sit in the Bolt for more than an hour before we needed to get out and give our butts a break. If it wasn't for the battery issue that cropped up, I probably would still own the Bolt but I would have followed through with my plan of getting the front seats rebuilt so we could enjoy the ride more.
Also, I hope that the slower charging of the Bolt helps battery life.
Really good video, Kyle. I liked that the presentation was so clear and concise. More like this, please.
Model 3 LFP is the best bang for buck period. What you get for that price (plus the discount from the ev tax credit) is unmatched
A poor boy like me can only afford the Bolt. I am glad I got one.
Took a long look at a Model Y last November. Coming from 4 Lexus GX460's over the last 15 years, I couldn't get past the poor ride quality. Ended up with a used Model X from Tesla with air suspension. Tesla includes FSD with most of their used MX's which makes buying from them a better value, too (along with another year warranty). Really glad I did. Much more useable space behind the second row and love the power doors up front and second display.
Just buy a Fiat 500e
Sounds like you tried an older Y Performance with 21" wheels.
Try a 2023 Y (not performance) with 19" wheels and I'm pretty sure you will get to a different conclusion. It's not a Lexus but I guess far from your first test drive with a model Y.
We've had our 2022 Bolt EUV since late September and have almost 9k miles on it. It was new on the lot and had the battery replacement in process, so we just had to wait a few days for that before taking delivery and then did the free NEMA 14-50 port install at home that Chevrolet scheduled with a local electrician and made it really easy. It's been a great daily commuter, which is what we bought it primarily to be used for so nearly always home charging. We've done a trip to Vegas (from Phoenix), one charge up to 80% in Kingman on the way and no issues and that's about the longest trip we plan to make in it. We had free Level 2 charging at our hotel so the trip cost us about $20 roundtrip in charge fees.
My 2022 Model3LR/FSD is amazing. Ride is excellent. Fit and finish was perfect. Fastest car I have ever had. Zero problems. I will never, never go to a conventional dealership again to purchase a car. Buying experience with Tesla was a pleasure.
It seems lately I felt you were drifting away from talking or even enjoying Tesla cars. It was a sad thing to think. I am happy to hear you haven't turned sour on Tesla and even happier it still lists well in your mind! Thumbs up 👍👍👍
👍
Kyle, thank you, just bought a Bolt EV 2023 2LT for my son to just drive to college and back everyday, loving it. Even Level 1 charge cable is perfect, the free Install of Level2 in home is a plus.
I have a Polestar 2 and I love it! Id definitely recommend it!
in fact ,BYD is the best
Polestar 2 DMLR in Anchorage, Alaska, and I couldn't imagine a better EV for this northern climate and our extreme weather. Style, confidence, durability, traction, and comfort are all the words that come to mind when thinking about my Polestar 2. With the lower price point and rich feature packages, Polestar totally should have been on this Top 10 list IMHO.
Kyle, after watching your early videos in 2019, we purchased a 2020 SR Model 3 a few years back and added the roof rack for camping and roadtripping adventures. Simply amazing what we can do in summer and winter here in Canada. Will be upgrading to Model Y soon. Rivian does look incredible though 😊
In regards to the Ioniq 5. Plug and charge does work. Here in The Netherlands I have it set up with Fastned and it works flawless. So the car can do it but not all charging companies support it.
You recently said that the ID 4 is still the best value in EVs and you recommended it to family members. Why isn't it on the list? Thanks for the great content!
I know ..Kyle has drooled many times about the ID 4 ..and mostly agree it is a very good, very comfortable lots of room reasonably fast charging and priced very well. BMW , Porche Taycan really Kyle..really ?
I was wondering the same thing - no VW id.4 - expected to see the Mach E and the i4 Edrive 40/m50 on the list
@@allenbaylus3378 It's crazy that we can now make a list of ten EVs and people are upset that some are left off. Both the Mach E and ID4 seem like good cars for sure depending on your subjective tastes.
Huge cut in Model Y pricing, perhaps 🤔
ID4 keeps raising prices and delayed deliveries. VW always falls short
Another great video, Kyle, Thank you.
Well done! Very pleasant and informative presentation.
Thanks for the great video (and the surprise HDR 🤩)! One of OOS' most valuable assets is Kyle's brain, so videos like these where he's sharing his thoughts are extremely interesting and useful. Easy to sit and watch the whole thing through. And put me down for another vote for the "12 EVs not to buy" video!
Great video Kyle - Would agree with your list. Maybe some differences in the middle range but again so much is subjective. Wish there were more "cheep" evs available. I have parents and others whose budget will not support a 40+k car and that relegates them to an ICE. Will be interesting to see when EVs truly are cheaper when factoring time value of money into the equation. That would be a fun video to see. The cheapest to own over 5 years and comparing to their equivalent gas cars.
I guess I’m more curious about why certain vehicles didn’t make the list (i4, Mach-E, etc).
We love our Mach-E. A little taller than some of the others which is important to me. Best styling IMO. Checks nearly all the boxes. But there's a lot of EVs to pick from now
Kyle’s been lukewarm on the Mach-E for a while. In his mind there’s no reason to buy one when you could have an Ioniq 5 or EV6 instead. To me, the storage capacity of the Mach E, wireless CarPlay, looks, ride height were all better than the Korean offerings so it was the one for me. But that’s why it’s not on this list.
Have you seen the thermal coolant system in the Mach-E? Check out Monroe Live videos on it, yikes...
….. lack of quality?
Great video! You and your dad have really made some good videos lately
Very helpful. Thanks!
Nice one. Short and sweet. Waiting for the not recommended list. Appreciate your work!
cool video and very informative. Just wondering why the id4 wasn't here as you've done a couple of video's and recommends...ps..last purchase was a model y and the one before was a model 3.
Tesla chargers are usually at full capacity with wait lines in SoCal - and I've seen Tesla owners go to EA (with adapter).
If you live in the US and want to do road trips with minimal extra fuss, the only realistic choice right now (early 2023) is a Tesla. This is not just about the car, it’s also about the charging network and the tight integration between the two.
Yes depends on what area of the country. I have no problems charging on my road trips on the west coast. And the two tesla charging stations I saw where full with a wait because everyone has Teslas while I had no wait with my Bolt.
@@kendavis385 Not to be a pain, but what would your charge time for 150-200 miles of charge in your Bolt be compared to to the wait time at those two full Supercharger locations plus the charge time for 150-200 miles of charge?
@@toddwright662 I don't have exact numbers. Just saying if a tesla charging station is full, then even with a Tesla you are going to have to wait longer than you expected. Road trips in an electric still aren't as good as gas. If road trips over the 200 mile range are your #1 priority, a hybrid is probably the best choice.
@@kendavis385 "Road trips in an electric still aren't as good as gas. If road trips over the 200 mile range are your #1 priority, a hybrid is probably the best choice." Agreed.
The problem as I see it though is for those that road trips are NOT a #1 priority, the depth of the benefits of home charging are often overlooked or at least frequently not given the weight they deserve (assuming home charging is feasible). I know I give up time on a road trip vs. an ICE/hybrid car, but based on taking only one or two significant road trips per year (1200 to 2500 miles round trip for me), I get all (or at least most) of that time back home charging over the course of the rest of the year.
@@toddwright662 Right, and that's my point with the Bolt and why it should be legitimately considered as an alternative to a Tesla. The extra time to charge a Bolt vs. a Tesla is much smaller than the time to charge a Tesla vs. filling a gas tank. I just see very few people recommending the new Bolt and I don't understand why.
thanks for your work, I have yet to buy one but I love how informed I am from your videos.
Ah the joys of listening to what car to buy when I can only afford maybe 5k
Maybe investigate leasing?
Window shopping is the best shopping! So cheap!😊
Nissan Leaf or Renault Zoe perhaps?
@Kipper Dog got nissan leaf for 5k whit a 2016 new battery pack. 70 miles easy every day
Have you considered not being poor?
Great job👍👍
Thanks for your honest review and having owned an older S which I sold in 2020 for my 21 Y I really love my car the S was just to big for me and the tech in the Y is so much more advanced so glad I bought it so far at 20000 its been a great car no problems other than a couple of flat tires due to hitting potholes.Service in Charlotte has been fine only took one 1000 mile road trip in the car and it was great I am sticking with Tesla.Rented a Model 3 performance while in California last summer and it was great also had destination charging at the hotel so free charging .Always enjoy your reviews.
I own two of your favorites, not in any small part based on your reviews. I have a Ford Lightning XLT unfortunately standard range because that is all I could find and a Hyundai Ioniq 5. Both of these are 2022. We use a Ford pro charger and find it a great a quick charger and do almost all our charging at home. It is especially fast charging the HI5. Thanks for the work you do. I truly enjoy and benefit from your videos.
Hey Kyle, have you driven the new Model Y Long Range with the comfort suspension? When we first tested the Y, the ride was just harsh for an old couple coming from a Lexus ES350. However, the suspension on our 2023 Y is nice with the 19 inch wheels. We've put over 4,000 miles on it in our first 2 months on ownership. 😎👍
Absolutely great video overview of the EV market today. Thank you very much!
Yes please, give us the Do Not Buy List. Great video for first time electric buyers - Me!
Easy... dont buy an EV.
Question: I’m currently in need of getting a new vehicle soon, and i was hoping to invest in a model 3. Thing is I’m not too sure if my current credit would let me finance directly from Tesla, so I was thinking of going used. If i do, would you recommend a 21/22, or wait til the 23s with the heat pump are on the used market? Not sure how much of a difference maker it is, but it is a concern of mine as I live in an environment where winters can get pretty cold. (I am aware most past Model Y’s have heat pumps, but even used that might be a bit out of my price range)
Great, useful and informative. Would definitely like to see your “bottom ten” list too.
It’s just Vinfast lmao
BMW absolutely gets over the air updates and not just for the entertainment system but for the whole car. The last update was starting at the end of December and another one is coming soon.
We purchased a '22 Niro EV. It's not exotic but that's exactly why we bought it. Easy transition to the EV world with a great price and reliability. It seems that the niro and kona are always forgotten.
I just found out about that suv last week
I think the problem stems from the extremely limited availability of them, so it's not on most people's minds when they go looking for an EV. I remember a dealer in the Midwest mentioning to me once that I'd essentially have to special order it because Hyundai/Kia had extremely limited quantities of the Ioniq EV and Niro EV.
Combined with dealers increasingly adding $5-15k markups to all cars, but especially EV's, it's not surprising that these ones didn't make the list here.
@Geckogold I agree 👍. This is the first year for 50 state sales on the Niro ( I'm not sure about the Kona). We actually were trying to buy the Bolt EUV but the dealership markups drove us away. I live in Michigan and found that our local Kia dealer had 2 of the '22's and 3 of the '23's on their lot. All without markups. The '22's were more our style and were a bit negotiable because the newer '23's were on the lot.
This is the first year for Michigan to have the car, but supply seems to be good so far.
People need to stop buying mark ups
Very useful, balanced and informative video
Kyle would you buy a MY now with tesla vision or wait for H4 to be introduced into the vehicle.
I love my Enyaq. You get a lot for your money. And with 300-350km range and 10-80% soc in under 30 minutes it's also suitable for long range.
Great video Kyle!
I see a lot of people are complaining about the Rivian's phantom power draw. It doesn't seem to be consistent but some users are reporting 25% loss of capacity in just 48 hours. As a Rivian owner might make a good video to investigate and see if you can track down what's happening?
Just celebrated my 1st anniversary with my M3LR and I couldn't be happier. Its a great car, for around town or long road trips. We're looking at the Ioniq 5 as our second EV to replace my wife's Ford Edge at some point in the future. My biggest concern is availability and having to work with a dealer again. I truly prefer the Tesla buying experience over the old school dealerships. Two new vehicles on our radar are the Cadillac Lyriq and the Vinfast SUVs. I doubt we'd go with either but we'll keep our eyes open for Out of Spec's reviews and long range tests in the future to see what Kyle thinks of them :)
Look up Kyles vinfast review, he absolutely destroyed it
👍
Thank you very much for this video
I'm still debating choosing a Volkswagen ID 4 or the Tesla model Y, but I think looking at the overall package the Y may seem the better choice. You recommended the ID 4 so many times but also pointed out its software bugs. And that is the main end user experience. I just wish every EV has Plug&Charge, just plug it in no matter the charging network and the owner gets billed. Done.
Price difference
You note software and charge experience. If you value those def go with the Y.
@@cbenson513 If you value fit and finish and a nice ride the ID.4 is the way to go.
@@Scott925 I do, but not given the stark difference in bad sw vs great sw and tons of added features as I own the vehicle. Nor do I value those more than my time and frustration with bad charging on the road that you can't anticipate in advance. I've been down that road with non-Tesla EV's in the U.S. Everyone's requirements vary though, just giving my take.
@@cbenson513 I have had a 21 ID.4 for 20 monthes I have not had any issues with the vehicle needing a visit to service department.
So why do you not like the Mach-E other than charging?
I was wondering the same thing
I bought a Model 3 RWD about 2 weeks ago. I live in San Diego so the rwd and battery pack size should fair great in the moderate climate. Did a 350 mile mini road trip to Joshua Tree and I think the charging will be fine even with the smaller battery on longer road trips.
Same here. Got a used one last October and it’s great for running around town. I’ve also done a couple 350-mile trips and it worked just fine with supercharging.
I would like to see them offer a M3 RWD LR option. Maximum efficiency with the longer range and not quite so affected by the cold. And of course I would like to see them keep driving the price down on the M3 to get closer to that original promised 35k price tag.
Great video, really enjoyed it - well done - would like to see you do another video on what EV's NOT to buy - Thanks.
... Don't buy any fast, semi-ICE-like range BEV unless:
A >> You don't like polar bear hugs (i.e. you don't wish to be green).
B >> You wish to leave behind literally a ton of unrecyclable toxic waste roughly ten years down the road.
*********
Glad to see a list of both CCS and Tesla, also nice to hear even with issues with CCS it is still capable of road tripping. Looking forward to Tesla opening up to CCS cars.
Once Tesla opens supercharger, I will get a non-Tesla EV. Build quality on those other cars is 1000x better than Tesla.
Be careful what you wish for, Bolts tying up the chargers. One of the main reasons I bought my Tesla was for the charging experience, coming from another EV. I hate that may get ruined. Lots of Superchargers have 8 stalls, and many times I got the last one as it is.
Great video, Kyle! How many miles do you recommend for people buying used to avoid? 50k, 80k 100k? I know you’ve had good experiences with your model 3 after 100k. When should I bail on my Model 3 Long Range? Already at 18k miles 😱. No major problems to report as of now thankfully.
No Mach E I see got our California Rt 1 in December really enjoy it only problem so far as you have said is the charging infrastructure Fun car to drive blue cruise is amazing I am 66 years old been driving since I was 16 if you would have told that in 50 years cars would practically drive themselves and run on electric I would have questioned your sanity 😆 Thanks for all the videos and information
Well we have been promised flying Jetson's cars for longer than that! LOL I really thought vehicles would be far more advanced than they are today. Lane Keep, and adaptive cruise is about as tech as I am interested in. I enjoy driving, but those technologies would be useful on long road trips where you are droning along on an interstate somewhere. Thankfully I moved out of the high population areas where traffic is an issue now so it makes driving a pleasurable experience. 🙂 Congrats on your Mach-E.
I heard the Tesla model y suspension is better in the latest version. Do you know if the model 3 suspension also improved?
Got a 2023 Bolt EUV for my wife to commute to work and it is great, when we retire in 2 years we will upgrade to Tesla for road tripping. Can't beat the Supercharger network.
109%
Great job Kyle with your picks for top 10 EVs. As usual Teslas charging network seems to be the big selling point for buying a Tesla but once CCS catches up and buying all EVs on line skipping the sales floor I believe the playing field will be leveled and most choices will be amazing. Love your channels and your honest objectivity.
Can not wait to get your hands on the silveradoEV !
Do you think the Fisker Ocean will be on this list after you get to drive a final production version?
Would you consider the refreshed CMA cars (XC/C40, Polestar 2)?
I currently have both a Model 3 and a Model Y. I absolutely favor the Y over the 3, but both are wonderful cars. I've also owned a Bolt. Good city car but I would not dream of taking it on extended road trips. No ADAS and seats not comfy for long hauls. However I did find it a competent daily driver and would recommend it to someone if affordability was key and road trips were off the table for them.
Comparing the new 3 and Y, I find that the 3 rides and drives better than the Y. Why do you favour the Y - is it the better practicality?
@@chrishyde1216 It's a better fit for a tall guy like me, and has more space for others and stuff. My 3 is a 2018, which likely explains why it's a louder and rougher riding car than my 2022 Y with new suspension.
Bolts are half the price of a Tesla 3 and go almost as far. They are best in city/suburban driving for sure.
Kyle, there is plug & charge on the E-GMP architecture (ioniq5, ev6, gv60) with EVgone, now their service sucks, I haven't been able to start their plug and charge with my ev6. Also surprised in not seeing a Lucid as a recommendation
GOT MY 2023M3 when the price slashed , any updates on the tesla vision. ?
Great list and I received my Model Y recently, which was my 1st EV. I’m surprised you didn’t recommend the VW ID4. Is it because of the software issues?
Curious, no mention of the Mach-E. Thoughts?
Outstanding, succinct rundown of what vehicles are worth considering. Looking forward to seeing your videos on your new "baby," the Taycan, when it arrives. I would also love to see a future Nissan Ariya-Model Y comparison video and of course, a review of the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan. Thanks.
In regards to the Ioniq 5, they are becoming widely available (in states that they are sold in) extremely quickly. The only trim somewhat hard to find is the Limited. I believe sales are slowing due to several market conditions but especially due to the lack of tax credit qualification. Also in regards to pricing, every I5 AWD is over $50k MSRP and the Limited is about $58k in the cheapest colors to $58-60k for an extra cost color with lots of accessories.
Here in the bay area the stock of I5 and EV6 are getting quite high. Unfortunately dealership still think they can get away with like $5000 markup when Tesla is already cheaper base not counting EV credits.
Yeah but the higher end models are the only ones with a good interior, and none of them get the federal rebate. They aren’t worth getting over a Tesla since the price cuts…
@@JoeyDee86 Define "good" interior. The SEL and Limited have nearly identical interiors when it comes to materials and interior lighting. The only difference is features.
I wish it qualified for the $7500 rebate.
Good, honest review.
Thank you Kyle for this list. A bit surprised here the ID.4 did not make the list...
Cool list! Here’s mine:
Best Adventure Vehicle: Rivian R1T
Best Luxury Vehicle: Mercedes EQS
Best Sports Car: Taycan
Best Value: Bolt EUV
Best Over All: Model Y / 3
I have a 2021 Mach E I have almost 50K miles without a issue
And this same dude loved the Mach e GT Performance, literally showing us his “O face” several times, which I agreed with him on. And I just bought one.
After test driving the GT Performance, I drove a Model Y and thought that the Mustang compared favorably in performance, but there was no comparison in the coach craft and looks. By contrast, the Model Y interior looked like I was sitting in a white room with NO furniture! Who designed this thing, Frank Lloyd Wright? The Mach e was much better laid out for the driver with real switches and minidash behind the steering wheel that made it much safer.
I was waiting to see the Lucid Air. What's your thoughts on that one? Or say what type of people would you recommend them buying the Air? Thanks
I owned a Lucid Air for 3 weeks and don’t think its software is ready yet. I shared this report with Kyle’s dad, Dave. Lucid has only has one volume level for GPS instructions and the entertainment system. They must be independent.
Lucid has no automatic easy entry/exit like most cars. This feature is critical because Lucid has a very low, long sloping A-pillar that hits your head whether short or tall. Although there are two phone charging slots, only the driver’s slot works.
Pressing the charging port to open is flaky so they recommend pressing a dashboard button. Despite founder Mr Rawlinson coming from Tesla, it’s shocking the vehicle requires a start/stop button and I don’t think it offers automatic walk-away locking. I want to see this company successful, but with these and other deficiencies, it is over priced. Buyers spending this amount of money have no patience for such flaws.
@@johnpoldo8817 Thanks a lot John! I did a test drive on Friday and also decided not to go forward with purchase, despite my "old pricing". Just don't feel it justifies the price tag
For the prices of these future vehicles
I'm awaiting a Hummer Hybrid Truck
I appreciate your videos. And content. Thank you
This channel has to be the best on youtube, magic.
Got my Bolt EUV in December! I’m loving it but the range really is affected in the winter (Canada). Can’t wait to see what it’s like once summer hits!
I bought a 2023 Bolt EUV in November. It was fun to drive, but i live in the mountains next to a ski area where we get over 200 inches of snow a year typically. and i gets to -30 degrees F. And my range went down drastically. And i have to drive through drifted snow at times to get to work. The Bolt was not working for my use. I traded it for a Subaru Forester and now i have no issues with range or with driving in the snow.
I wonder if the upcoming Chevy Equinox would have issues in Winter.
I just got access to the Rivian store. Or I can wait for my R1T configuration to come in the next three months. I’m a little reluctant to buy a Rivian because of the financial state of the company and the thermal issues you mentioned. I do drive from the Philadelphia area to Colorado a couple times a year. What are your thoughts?
Rivian is here to stay - their products, while not flawless, are still some of the best on the market - and the contract with Amazon for their fleet vehicles gives them them the lifeline they need to get through their current financial instability.
What is your view on the blazer ? I was looking at the model 3 it is a very good price for getting the performance upgrade. I love the blazer but didn’t really like the option of the seat colors. I was going to order the 2nd one the price would have been $48,000 . But I am leery of a first out models. What is your opinion? I recommend your channel to my hygienist her sister has a Tesla and was not understanding her range . Thank you for sharing these vlogs and teaching us. Yes please do a vlog on what not to buy thank you😁
I am loving my Lighting XLT SR so far. Ended up getting a mannequin from a dealership since I was never able to order XLT.
Interesting that the Lucid Air isn't on this list. Do you mind explaining why it isn't?
Because it's out of the reach of most of Americans?
@Kyle Conner Would you really recommend Tesla without parking sensors? The one car I’m missing is ID.4
Got a used model 3 have to road trip frequently and am pretty pleased with it so far.
Same here. Love it
I dont drive a car!
HI Kyle... I understand precondition help improves battery life and range. My Question is:- I drive
Though I understand why you might not include the ID.4, I thought it was a bit surprising you didn't. Over a year and a half with our 2021 Pro and we still love it despite the software issues.
As far as I can tell all of these vehicles are already out and available for purchase, which is great. However what I'd be more keen to watch is a top 10 list of future EVs that you recommend. e.g. Cybertruck, EX90, VF9, Polestar 3, Aptera, Canoo, Fisker Ocean, etc etc etc.
Personally, BMW I4 is the best range/quality value and the ID4 is a good car all around… Here in Canada, the F150 standard range is terrible in the winter months with the small battery, bad efficiency, and no heat pump…
The bmw is a nice car but still a BMW. You wouldn’t believe how stupid the issues my dad has had with his have been. The car completely died and wouldn’t drive even fully charged. Bmw couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it and kept it for a week or two becuase they don’t have enough EV techs. They finally found out it was becuase of a recall. I guess maybe luck of the draw I just couldn’t believe they didn’t have a tech available. It’s not like we are in a non bmw area. It’s south Florida.
I have seen tons of Model 3s on the roads over the last couple years I would say they make up at least 5% of the cars in my area and thats massive.
Live in California?
What about the Mach e ?
One question why the Ford Mustang Mach E is not on your list?
I have a Tesla model Y P and thinking about to switch the MachE
Got the Bolt EUV last year, in a way to dip my toes in the EV market. Loved it so much, now I am awaiting delivery of my new 2024 Cadilac Lyriq, can't wait. The Bolt is staying for driving around town and for short trips.
Kyle, why Lyriq was not on your list today?!!
If you do this list next year you should consider the Lyriq, the Ariya, the Vinfast, the Ocean, and the Mach-e.
4K HDR video, nice!! I kind of surprised Model S didn't make your list, but you kind of the stated the reasons why at the end of the video.
What EV's would you recommend to work in the ride sharing platforms ?
We have a 2021 etron and really like it for its comfort, ease of use - it feels like a car, not an iPhone on wheels
