Love the video. I flew in 1979-1985, then became a nurse. Still a nurse. Went back to flying in 2013 (and still an ER nurse). I was hired immediately. Age has nothing to do with it! Airlines want well qualified happy professionals! Age means nothing! I am finishing my DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) at age 58!
see the comment i just added! I was an RN when i became a flight attendant, but went back to my RN career. Been an RN for 26 years. Finally after 24 years of patient care (ER, PACU, ICU and more specialties), I am in case management and LOVE my job but do live vicariously through FA vlogs.
Steven, I'm 65, Dutch speaking and about to join "The Fiendly Skies" as Dutch speaking international flight attendant. I'm married, straight and I love you. Thank you so much for your vlog. You've made my day.
I´m 63 and will be interviewing next week at Southwest and this was just the encouragement I needed. So many videos with young twenty somethings and it´s so refreshing to see someone totally embracing this position. To be in the air, to meet many people, to help guide them to as you said “journeys that are sad and joyful” - what an opportunity to use all the wonderful life affirming skills us more “seasoned” folks have. Thanks!!!
Yaay! Good on you! I am almost 52. Took a plunge applied and have interview with my hometown airline. Never would have thought about it without Stevens vids..
I’m 64…have always wanted to be a flight attendant. I respect the industry. I want to offer class, friendliness, smiles, comfort and mainly of course safety. I have kept my self in great shape throughout my life. Im in the process of applying. I know if God wants this for me it will happen. It’s never too late for anything you want to accomplish in life! Thank you for your video! 😊
I am 48 year’s old and I just received a CJO with an airline. I go to FA training early 2020. 👏🏼✈️👏🏼 For anyone, whom wants this Amazing career and are aged like fine wine 😂 go for it.
Steven, I turn 53 on Sunday, then start FA training with AA 10 days later. I needed to hear what you said in this video. I cannot tell you how much it helped. I needed the reminder that indeed I am a "diamond in the rough" and that I CAN remember things, I remember more songs than anyone I know. Thank you for the encouraging words and you helped me remember that I have tackled other intimidating things and rose to the occasion when I needed to. I can here too. I hope to meet you in person sometime. You are an inspiration! And yes, you need to apply to be a FA trainer, you'd be amazing!
Steven - LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this blog. I am 57 years young and looking for a career change. I have been invited to complete a video interview with a major airline from my submitted resume. You have given me the confidence to purse my 20- something dream career. Thank you for the inspiration and encouragement.

Thank you Steven for the information. I am 50 in a few months and will be training as a flight attendant love your videos. Been nursing for 25 years and ready for a career change . Love meeting people different cultures and backgrounds.
You are a true rare soul. I loved the story about the mom who went to Chicago to identify her son. What a compassionate person you are!!.thanks for sharing
I am 55 and seriously want to follow my dream of being a FA! I have been a nurse for 34 years and raised my 5 children and now ready to start a new and fabulous life! I thought I may be too old but thank you so much for helping me believe that I am not!! You are fantastic!

Oh Steven! Bless you! I am 54 and it is my dream to be a flight attendant. I just did a video interview and I haven't heard anything but you have really given me hope. Even if this one doesn't work out I will continue to apply to other airlines. I can not thank you enough for taking the time to make this video. Steven, I love your honest and encouraging videos! I just go at CJO with a legacy airline carrier at the age of almost 65! I have been an educator for 32 years and retired, so this will be a new adventure and journey for me. I am a mother and grandmother and know I can bring joy, empathy and kindness to everyone I meet✈️
Well you’re not going to believe it but your advice for a retiree is exactly what I’m doing. At 66 and in pretty good shape I’ve applied to several airlines including SW last week when the portal opened. Had a few online or phone interviews and waiting to hear from them as they have been recently done ✅ like last two weeks. Enjoy your videos as well as others who vlog. At least you’ve provided what the price of apartments and what to experience in a crash pad. Thanks for the info and I’ll be following future videos.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I'm 56 and have raised 3 daughters and now is my time so I've been researching becoming a flight attendant and the more I hear, the more I want to do it! I am going to be 50 next month, I just found your videos because I'm going to New York City and I saw the Jane hotel tour and I simply adore you I could just sit and listen to you all day
thank You so much for your encouragement! as a woman of 65, I'm going to a F2F interview on February 6th in NYC! your videos are so enlightening fun, real and sincere. I hope I can bring my life experiences to make other peoples lives more enjoyable, whether its the crew I'm working with or the people the customers of the airline. thank you again.
I participated in an assessment day this January and in April I'll start the training course as a flight attendant for the first time in my life . I'm 38 years old and at the end of the year 39. I always thought it was late for me 'cause they hire young people, this made me sad 'cause I needed to realize this dream, I tried several times .... and here I am !
Reviewing content to recommend to other aspiring FAs. I started watching as one.... headed to training in a few weeks...at 58! Thank you, Steven! Hope to meet you soon while at training!
Steven, You are an absolute JOY. I am a retired Nurse and you have encouraged me much since the sweet flight attendant Wrote me a little note encouraging me to apply. I have completed my video interview and am now awaiting a response. Hope to get a f2f in the near future.
I am 39 and applied to a couple airlines for the first time. I wasn’t going to pursue this originally, well because? I thought I was too old. I’m so happy to hear that you’re never too old for anything. I’ve wanted to be a FA since I was 14. It’s time!
Such a wise man you are! . I don't know you, Steven but I feel like watching your videos is getting me to know you a little bit better. I used to be a Flight attendant for 9 years and I can truly say emphaty, patience, humility and tolerance are great gifts. I just recently applied for a major airline made it through the application and assessment process and also the video interview but like you mentioned in one of your videos, I am afraid to go back to the business of flying because I am 46 years old and my fear of failure is hindering me to believe in myself again.. so I definitely enjoyed watching your videos. Keep up the good work!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR ENERGY! Thank you! I come to you with so much gratitude! Thank you and I am even more excited to be interviewing with spirit in 2 weeks. You are preparing me and you're just an amazing soul, can't wait to join you in the skies, and hopefully in the slim chance be able to fly with you! :) Much Love! - Sandra Escobedo
OMG - this is just what I wanted to hear/see/witness. I'm 51, was laid off and getting ready to jump into the fray (have video interview with one airline already). I am a HUGE fan. You don't know how much of a difference you made to me today.
Thank you for this video. I have been an RN for 26 years. Back in the late 90s, I took a sabbatical from my RN career (was burned out on Trauma ICU at the time), and became a Flight Attendant for a major airlines. In flight academy, I met another RN who at the time had just retired and was looking for a second career. She was quite a bit older than me, I think 60. She did great. I went back to my RN career just for the $$$, and was too difficult to be away from my dogs.
Awwwww, you are truly a special person! I love your stories; both of the birthday celebration and of supporting your other passenger during her loss. You are a blessing! :)
I hear you! Thanks so much for making this video. Yes we have been thru some things! My crazy dream at 52 is to be a flight attendant. You have a gift for encouragement and kindness. I'm going thru the application process and love your insights!
Hi Steven! I thought you heard my fears inside my head and said them out loud! Get out of my head will you! Love, love, love your videos. I too am over 40 and just did my one way video interview last week. I am waiting with trepidation to hear if I go to the next round. I' ve been watching a number of youtube videos on flight attendant interviews in faith, believing that I will get to the next round and yours is the first one that has addressed this topic. Thank you for sharing the nuggets, they are worth their weight in gold! Thank you for being so relatable. I hope to join you in the skies :- )
Steven: thank you so much for your very entertaining talk about older people aspiring to be flight attendants!! Old is gold and yes, they have so much to offer in terms of experience. This job would be ideal for retirees as they already have a steady stream of income coming their way. Your airline is VERY lucky to have you as their cabin crew......you actually are more cut out for a much higher class legacy airline than the one you are working for, where you can actually see the world and have decent lay overs as well. The reason why I feel that you airline has lucked out by hiring you is because I have read the passenger reviews on your tube about your airline....I would suggest you read them too when you get some time. You are very articulate and to the point, you would have been a fabulous psychologist!!
Thank you for the compliment. But, I love my airline and don't ever have plans on leaving. If anyone is lucky it's ME...my charming little airline offers me SO many positive things in this lifestyle. I actually have a video titled, "Stepping Stones to Larger Airlines". You might take a peek at it. I don't ever plan on leaving my company. If you're judging my employer (and my new family) by the reviews you see on UA-cam...you're only seeing a very very small facet of a tremendous jewel...and you're missing something absolutely amazing. Sorry.
Steven: I totally get your point of view...BUT you are speaking as an employee and NOT as a passenger. Not being able to recline my seat and having to pay for water would not be my cup a tea for a long flight from LVS to ATL.
I absolutely love this video! Your wise words and experiences have impacted me to be a flight attendant. I was starting to look down because of my age, being my first time getting through each step into this career. Your words are so beautiful and uplifting! I would love to sit next to you one day on a flight. You’re an inspiration!
Thank you for sharing your experience, well put together. I listen to many videos in UA-cam about flight attendants life styles, but I have to say yours is different, very helpful, motivating and so inspiring. Thanks!
Wow inspired with your advice or experience and I gotta say I didn't want you to quit talking I'm excited and feeling so very valuable hope to see you in the sky xoxo Autumn
Thank you so much for this video. I'm 57 and once we get get back to normal and the airlines begin to hire again, it's my dream to make this happen. Your amazing and your story about the lady who lost her son was so touching!
Hi Steven! Just found your channel and I'm going through the videos now. I love them! Thank you so much! I'm over 50 and I have my f2f in a couple of weeks! I know I'm going to get a CJO! I appreciate your advice! Keep up the good work!
I absolutely loved your video...thank you for making my day. As I prepare for my flight attendant interview I know I'm going to do great thanks to you tips and words of wisdom.
Hi everybody! I have my F2F for a Canadian airline in 2 days. I needed to listen to this video one more time, as Steven sounds like a friend giving me encouragement 😊. I am addicted to his videos because they are the best 👌. I'll let you know how things went, I promise 😉.
I thank you for the encouragement. I'm not retired yet but would like to go ahead and start this next phase and have the enjoyment as much as you do. Again thank you so much for the video. Please keep the tips coming for people like us😌
Ha! I did consider becoming a flight attendant before my last career change; I am now a teacher. Who knows, maybe flight attendant retirement in the future? I actually found your videos to watch your lunch bag review and became interested in a few of your videos. Love your demeanor and insightful & interesting stories! Take care!
Thank you.. 48 male and changing careers! Law Enforcement to Flight Attendant. Your video has given me confidence. I know I can do this. ( maybe I'm a bit to soft hearted to continue to work with such negativity. Why not have a career where my kindness is appreciated)
Steven! SO glad I found your video! I’m a young 57 yo male RN contemplating a career change and you’ve answered many questions I had ... am I too old... why would I want a FA career vs current profession... I’ve watched many, many other “ tips” videos on this subject but chose to subscribe to your channel because of the insight you present. Thanks so much for your time and your videos- keep up the good work! Might cross paths one day! 🌞👍🏻
SuperGman314, thanks! But I'd suggest watching other UA-camrs as well. Single sources of information, especially if it's just me, aren't always ideal. :) There is a tremendous amount of great information here...but I'm beyond flattered that you've subscribed! Thanks! I'm sure to see you in the air!
I took a sabbatical from my RN career to become an FA years ago and i recall the number one question all the pilots asked me "why?". I explained i was burned out as a Trauma ICU RN. I have been an RN for 26 years and finally very happy with a cushy office job in case management (and do get to travel/fly for business trips!)
Thank you for your video..I really needed to hear that. I am 60 with past airline experience working at a small outstation followed by cellular sales when minutes counted so bill paying time was a nightmare..$500.00 for talking an hour while outside your region and it was all my fault. Total of 35 years CS experience. I completed VI a couple of days ago and now i'm playing the waiting game. I thought the situational questions were super easy.. I agree 100% to what you said. Great vid!
The airlines are hiring older people! 50’s, 60’s, and even 70’s! I am 70 (look 55) and invited to a mainline interview! We have a lot to offer because we have life experience!
Steven , you are so right . I am 43 I raised three teenage daughters and in 4 short months with be a Empty nester . The past 7 years I have worked for a Sheriff's department as a 911 operator and in administrative. I have learned patience and compassion and empathy. My co workers think I am crazy for having compassion for even the criminals lol. I am ready to take my skills as a mother and working for our citizens to become a flight attendant. Your videos have aspired me to hurry up and get over my fear and apply. Thank you!
Allison Sobol thank you! I love being told I'm right. LOL! It sounds like you have all of the skills and energy needed to become a great flight attendant! Just turn that fear around into enthusiasm and you've practically got those wings!
Steven Pereira Thank you! Tweaking my resume now and applying to Southwest on the 5th for external applications . Wish me luck ! And looking forward to more of your inspirational videos.
Thank you for your encouraging videos. I applied with an airline and didn’t get a cjo and was thinking “well, forget that,” but now I’m thinking of applying with another airline. I’m 54, retired from my first job but I’m not ready to give up on this dream yet.
Apply to any airline that you'd work for. Interview as often as you can...trying to enjoy yours along the way...and you'll find the right airline for you.
Hi Steven! ❤️ I love your energy and how you see life ❤️! I am 49 years old and I want to be a flight attendant but I was wondering about my age and if this could be a problem, but I have to say your perspective about life experience and age is amazing! You really have inspire me to pursue! Thanks a lot for this video!
Hello, I just wanted to say thank you so very much for creating this video, I am in my early 30s and I'm very interested in becoming a flight attendant, well after I saw this video, and did a lot of really tough decisions, that I am now officially announced that I have decided to become a flight attendant, and make it my long-term career. Thank you so very much for the helpful advice, your never to old to start a new career in the skies.
You have given me hope to fulfill my life-long wonderment of becoming a flight attendant. I have another challenge though, I'm 5'2" and have *some* back issues...however, I have overcome larger obstacles in my 47 years.
Hello Steven. Thanks for making this video! It is very encouraging and very uplifting as well. I feel more confident in applying for a F/A position now. You are right, going to a group interview and seeing all those 20 something there can be challenging, but we (the ones over 45) have a lot to offer to the industry. Thank you. I will like join you in FB as well.
Thanks, I m 38 , nurse / flight paramedic. I am not the prettiest person, but I feel in times of need or trouble on a flight I could be useful. I look at a lot of over seas air companies. Maybe I should look at North America companies.
Stellar. Inspirational. I am well over 40...my photo is a few years old. LOL. Thank you again for sharing your life experience. This one made me teary.
Steven you are such an inspiration and so motivating to everyone who voices a desire for this career path! You really are such a good friend, giving hope where it may not have existed previously! Not to mention you are funny ("Physics is different for SouthWest" 🤣😂🤣) But I do agree that anyone that survived the 70's, 80's or 90's has a lot to offer!!! I lost too many friends in the 80's as well (in the arts, music or entertainment industry) as well as much family through the years! The pain of loss definitely gives you a perspective that those (well seasoned) can bring to the table...hopefully love, humility, patience and empathy came with that experience! There is always room for kindness! 💗Thank you for always being you, and keeping it real! 💗🙏🌺
Thanks you so much for making this video! I have been thinking about changing careers. Currently I work at a domestic violence abuse shelter as the in rural kentucky. I just turned 49 and want a change! Thanks for putting things in perspective!

You're going to have an amazing time! Life has prepared you for this.
Reviewing content to recommend to other aspiring FAs. I started watching as one.... headed to training in a few weeks...at 58! Thank you, Steven! Hope to meet you soon while at training!
Steven,
You are an absolute JOY. I am a retired Nurse and you have encouraged me much since the sweet flight attendant Wrote me a little note encouraging me to apply. I have completed my video interview and am now awaiting a response. Hope to get a f2f in the near future.
I would love to go back to working as an FA when i retire from my RN career. But i have dogs who I love.
I cannot stop watching your videos Steve lol you’re such a great communicator and great voice! Thank you for keeping my work entertained!!
Love this! As a seasoned gal pursuing this career we need to hear this! Great video and you’re something like the bomb!
Coilykinkchick, seasoned! Killing me!
I am 39 and applied to a couple airlines for the first time. I wasn’t going to pursue this originally, well because? I thought I was too old. I’m so happy to hear that you’re never too old for anything. I’ve wanted to be a FA since I was 14. It’s time!
It certainly is time! Go for it!
Steven, WOW!! What a great Birthday card and muffin idea!! You have a heart of gold! Enjoy your workouts, they are good for you. :)
Rebecka Schafer, thanks! You're sweet!
Steven I have a face to face with a major airline on 1/16; I will come back and report how I did. Oh, I am 61!
Sage Oakley go get those wings! I'm so excited for you!
Sage Oakley How was it? I am dying to know!!
Update please
Any news?
Empathy is truly a gift. You are so amazing with the energy and love you bring to us and to passengers.
Sandra Heart thanks so much! You're very kind!
I absolutely love your analogies. Gonna keep this one...
Awwwww, you are truly a special person! I love your stories; both of the birthday celebration and of supporting your other passenger during her loss. You are a blessing! :)
+carableu that's very nice of you to say. Thank you. My guests are my favorite part of my job!
Thanks for your kind words. I hope to see you in the air and hear all about your success!
Steven. Thanks so much...I am a lady of a certain age and just starting application process. This was so valuable
Thanks so much! I'm glad this video helped!
I'm glad this vlog spoke to you. It's one that I'm quite proud of.
Thank you for sharing your experience, well put together. I listen to many videos in UA-cam about flight attendants life styles, but I have to say yours is different, very helpful, motivating and so inspiring. Thanks!
51 and have interview in 1 week! Xxoo. How you treated that grieving lady is amazing. Want to give you a bear hug. You are lovely person!!
Good morning Steve, I found and watched the video you recommended. Very informative and factual 40 plus information…
Thanks Steve!
Thanks! I know there is a pair of wings with your name on them!
Hi Steven! Just found your channel and I'm going through the videos now. I love them! Thank you so much! I'm over 50 and I have my f2f in a couple of weeks! I know I'm going to get a CJO! I appreciate your advice! Keep up the good work!
Thanks!!! Let me know how your F2F turns out!
Thank you so much!
I am 60 and going for my interview as well
Thank you for sharing.
You have such a poetic heart.
Goodness! Thank you. You're very kind.
Hi Steven! I'm 45 and going to school to become a flight attendant. Your video gave me confidence. Thanks a lot!😁
You don’t talk to much! I love you gift of gab. I have used mine to pay the bills for years in sales and. I now want to fly! Keep it up
Great video, thank you for sharing! I will be 50 this year, and would be interested in becoming a flight attendant when I retire!
54! 🤞 ...great video! I may have commented here twice lol 👏🏼👍🏼🤗🌟💚
I absolutely loved your video...thank you for making my day. As I prepare for my flight attendant interview I know I'm going to do great thanks to you tips and words of wisdom.
Glad it was helpful!
you are speaking the truth and i like your philosophy its rare to meet in workplace persons like you
Simi Bell thanks!!
Thank you bear 🐻 in the air 🌬️✈️! I thoroughly enjoy this. And yes, I got the job.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Take care!
Thanks! Some folks choose this as a retirement job...we hire folks well into their sixties!
Thank you..
48 male and changing careers!
Law Enforcement to Flight Attendant.
Your video has given me confidence. I know I can do this.
( maybe I'm a bit to soft hearted to continue to work with such negativity. Why not have a career where my kindness is appreciated)
Did you continue the FA pursuit? I’m also retiring soon from LE and would like to know if this would be a good fit for me.
Great vid!
MOTIVATION!!!!! THANK YOU I NEEDED THIS!!!!
Man I am GOLD! 😅. Love your analogies. I’m 48 and am looking to apply next year. This been a dream since early 20’s. I hope to meet you one day😍
The airlines are hiring older people!
I love all your videos because you speak facts in a very humorous way😂😂
Thank you for your encouraging videos.
Man...you are GOOD!
Hi Steven! ❤️ I love your energy and how you see life ❤️! I am 49 years old and I want to be a flight attendant but I was wondering about my age and if this could be a problem, but I have to say your perspective about life experience and age is amazing! You really have inspire me to pursue! Thanks a lot for this video!
People in their 60s are hired all the time...your age certainly isn't an issue. Think of all the gifts you'd bring to the job!
Thank you! Wonderful! I flew 20 years ago and looking to come back. You were very inspirational!
You are a wonderful person, Steven.
Steven you are such a beautiful soul. You may or may not know it but you are a natural teacher.
Keep up the good work !!
Love and Light my friend 🙏
OMGOSH Mr. Steven - the best FA I've ever experienced ! I am so happy to find your vlog so I can follow your adventures!
Welcome to my little family!
What a wonderful video! Steven, you are a truly inspiring person!
Thanks very much! You're very kind.
Thank you, Steven.
You just popped up and I love this video. You brought tears and laughter. I wish more flight attendants were like you.❤️❤️
Laurie B one of me is plenty! LOL!
Omg I didn’t expect THAT about the not so pleasant woman..... Goodness! YOU Steven, are “Good People”
You have given me hope to fulfill my life-long wonderment of becoming a flight attendant. I have another challenge though, I'm 5'2" and have *some* back issues...however, I have overcome larger obstacles in my 47 years.
I'm so pleased! Definitely keep me up to date on your journey!
Hello Steven. Thanks for making this video! It is very encouraging and very uplifting as well. I feel more confident in applying for a F/A position now. You are right, going to a group interview and seeing all those 20 something there can be challenging, but we (the ones over 45) have a lot to offer to the industry. Thank you. I will like join you in FB as well.
quericopapa Go get those wings!
Steven Pereira, I will apply! Thank you for your support! I hope we meet in a flight or airport. You are awesome! Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks, I m 38 , nurse / flight paramedic. I am not the prettiest person, but I feel in times of need or trouble on a flight I could be useful.
I look at a lot of over seas air companies. Maybe I should look at North America companies.
Looks have absolutely nothing to do with the job. Trust me on that one!
You are inspiring, motivating, entertaining- and just an overall amazing human being. I learned so much! Thank you
MsMdurand, that's probably the nicest thing anyone has said to me in a while! Thanks!
Thank you from a fellow friend of Bill W.
Yes, people need to learn to agree to disagree!
Thanks you so much for making this video! I have been thinking about changing careers. Currently I work at a domestic violence abuse shelter as the in rural kentucky. I just turned 49 and want a change! Thanks for putting things in perspective!
It's always nice to listen to what you have to say. Thank you for sharing and I hope to run into you at the airport one day.
Such a great video. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Viktorija Yergatian thanks!
Thanks so much for this video, I am way older then you are and I have an interview next week. This give me confidence!!!
Just Love you! So helpful, getting ready to apply. Thanks for the help. And we are a steal😁
