Thanks Steve. I'm a 57 year old Male who will be retiring from the police department within the next few months and I'm looking forward to applying to the airlines. Thanks
I can’t believe I just found this video. I didn’t know anything about the bowl fish question and I didn’t love my answer. Of course after answering you start thinking about 100 possible things you could’ve added. But what I know is that I followed all the instructions, I made sure I asked if the people in the back could’ve hear me, I spoke with confidence, I walked with confidence, and went slow because I have an accent. I kept a good posture and I kept it short and sweet. I did my best and I passed! People with way better answers didn’t. It is about much more than the answer itself. Thank you so so so much for this video and your honesty. I love your personality.
No, you didn’t talk too much at all! The details you provided are precisely what makes this video helpful. You’ve said things that I haven’t heard in any one else’s “F2F interview” video!
Regarding ¨goldfish bowl¨ questions - I always smile remembering the scene in Miss Congeniality with Wm. Shatner (the Emcee) asking the airhead contestant “Describe your favorite date.” ... she rolls her eyes and says something like “I think it would be April 5th.”
Talked for a long time…..whaaaat? I want you to forever talk and share your info and am super sad when a video is over. So glad I found you. Bingewatching from Germany.
Steven, I always come away with a smile after watching one of your vlogs. I learn more about you personally and professionally. I hope someday you will write a book filled with your knowledge, fantastic sense of humor and compassion.
Steven Pereira I’ve heard the same! My research led me to the dreaded fishbowl question, and you’re the only one I’ve found with an explanation. Thanks again!
Thank you Steve! I'm not a flight attendant, rather a dental assistant. Your tips and insights also seem to resonate in my field of work. At the office we are in a fish bowl too, mind you, some would view our fish bowl as the scary shark bowl, as not everyone likes going to the dentist. You are a fresh of breath of air !
"there were lots of brows" LOL. It's so true! I'm a m.u.a. (hopefully soon to be a FA) and I find eyebrows are waaaay over the top these past few.... 5 years? Can't wait until the fad dies down a bit😏...
I have watched 3 of your videos and although I am not a FA or looking to become one I am enjoying your content. I love your relaxed style and I find you so interesting to listen too. I have to thank you for the calming way you present yourself and you haven't added the annoying cuts and jumps so many you tubers add to their videos now. I don't know what the purpose is for that but I can not watch them. I have subscribed because I like listening to your interesting subjects as well as your calming personality:)
You’re amazing. I’m going to a hiring event tomorrow and you have no idea how much I’ve learned from you and I appreciate you help new people who are passionate about being flight attendant like me.
Thank you again!! What I love from your channel besides everything else is the fact that you reached out to me to answered my question. I really appreciate that!!
I'm a 21yo brazilian male, I'm going for a f2f next few days and I'm watching your videos religiously, I was invited by Gol Airlines which is our major company. At the interview I'll probably mention my experience with customer service while I was living in Salem/MA, I used to work in one of those breakfast restaurants, it was pretty fun lol. Thank you, Steven! Take care.
I am glad I found your channel it has so much information on it. Because of your channel I feel confident in myself and I feel confident that I can have wings too :) Thank you xoxo
Love watching your videos- you're a natural! Just completed by video interview...first interview in 20 years. Dont know how I did but felt good about myself for even doing it!
I am getting so much out of your videos! I believe your sage advice can be applied to many types of interviews, including auditions, dates, etc. You have a comfortable, witty manner and probably are a terrific flight attendant. Thank you, Steven. Safe Travels. 😊❤️
We'd vibe.. you give such great examples. I love the golden retriever comparison. I've been called Tiger and compared to a boston terrior... ha. I enjoy every thing in life, especially when it's a challenge, so I can not wait for my f2f.
Great video Steven, Thank you! I am so behind on your current videos, because I am trying to get myself ready to enter the workforce!!! Thank you for all the thought provoking situations! 💗🙏🌺
Thank you sooooo much !!!! I sooooo NEEDED to see this video at this exact time to give me insight and help with my nerves!!!! Continue making great videos! 🙃🙃🙏🏽✨
Just wanted to say that this video was spot on if you are preparing for Spirt and other group hiring event!!! Thank you ,Steven, for sharing your knowledge with us and helping us get our CJOs!!! Glassdoor did not have my fishbowl question. Mine was completely out of the blue and not related to aviation or standard job interviews or STAR method. They really are trying to see how you react and keep your composure. I’m a super serious gal and my question let me show the lighter side of my personality and enthusiasm ;)
Great video. Thank you so much for sharing your insights and experiences. Anecdotal info is very helpful to me in knowing what I might expect during each phase of the hiring process. I loved what you said about channeling nervous energy into something positive like excitement or anticipation! I have always found this to be an immediate remedy to prevent anxiety which is draining to one's overall energy. I made application yesterday, and now I wait.
wow! That's Spirit Airlines. That is the only airline company that has goldfish bowl question. I have been in one of their open house. And it wasn't easy as Steven sounds like it will be :(
Another brilliant video! Thank you so much! Have my first group interview (f2f) on the 13th. Gathering as much info as I can. Didn't do a PI or VI. This company goes straight to the f2f.
Hey Steven!!!! Great job! You are definitely are fit for the job and you are very informative. I am having a great time watching your videos! I am an aspiring Cabin Crew and I hope that I could fly with you soon! Keep the good vibes coming! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Dear Steven, thank you for your videos. To be honest with you, I was at Job interview. Got hired btw 🙂🙌, but I have to say; I'm not sure how I feel about the selection process. I think that I'm happy that this company focuses more in talent that on how you present yourself because some people were very poorly groomed. I'm talking in open toes shoes, sandals, see through (nothing, other than a bra underneath) cashmere, a guy with very tied shiny skinny gray pants, and short sleeves very casual sky blue (no tie) summer shirt, no socks. (Mind you, this happened yesterday, it's no summer yet), a girl with her nails and hair undone, red chapped polish on her nails, poor thing, God blesses their hearts, because who knows what they're going through. And then there were us. The ones that's put extra effort. I have no money, and yet with what I have I took the time and effort to look presentable, polish, professional as most of us did. As everybody should do for a job interview. It really made no difference. We all got hired the same.
Thank you for a great video! I had a group interview several years ago and we had to introduced ourselves, something about ourselves, and why we wanted to be a flight attendant. I put in my mind like I was at Miss Universe Pageant and that the people watching me were the judges and the audience...I had a wonderful time! Have a great weekend Steven!

Hi Steve I am retired after over 40 years of customer service with the Federal gov't (Jan. 2017). Apparently, I am well over 40 (lol). I still have some life in me and I decided to try another career. At the beginning of October, I applied for a flight attendant position with United and Delta. Delta rejected my application and United offered a VI. I have watched several videos regarding the flight attendant position - many pros and cons. I came across your site and watched at least three of your videos so far. They are great and very informative. You present the prospective as a flight attendant and as a recruiter. It's like getting a "two for one " at happy hour. Since the airline industry is new and so different from my previous job, I am somewhat conflicted at this time. I have discovered so much regarding the dos and don'ts in such a short time. I'm wondering now should I do more research and reapply at a later date or just follow through. I so welcome your feedback. Thank you for sharing. BTW - I definitely subscribed.
Hi there! Thanks for the compliment. I think this is an ideal 'retirement job'...many of my coworkers came to this life after another career. The only real challenge is having to either commute or move if you're based someplace you dont live. But even that can be an adventure.
Olivia, keep trying. I retired from USPS last year and landed a below wing job at Delta. Eventually, I may apply for flight attendant, but right now I just love being a part of this exciting industry!
Ah! I've never done a goldfish bowl question but I'm assuming it's similar to the icebreaker question or the [short] elevator speech? A new subscriber here from NZ! I believe I'm a 'golden retriever' like you 🐕. Thank you so much for your enthusiastic, fun, light hearted, informative content ✈❤😘
Yes, I'm sure it's like the ice breaker questions...it's really to give the recruiters a chance to see you and watch you in action. Thanks for the compliment!
No excuse how tired someone is at their job not to be friendly and professional. I don’t care how busy I am or the chaos going on, when I see anyone in the hall or a patient of mine...I say, “Hello. Good Evening. Thank you for visiting or staying with us.” Leave the tiredness and crankiness at home. People get paid to provide Amazing and Professional service.
Steven Pereira Yes, I like your chosen words “Herculean Effort.” I have had many a Hella a lot of horrible shifts that I have gone into our supply closet, thrown my hands in the air, 🤬 and prayed for The LORD to take the hella of the wheel and help me! BUT, we got into these professions to want to make people feel safe, happy, and comfortable. I have traveled a lot and my last trip on Delta, two of the flight attendants did not even greet or respond to me when I boarded and said, “Good Morning.” I was like Dang!!! When I travel I want to have FA’s like Labrador Retriever’s and wag their tails. 🤣 If, at the end of the shift...it calls for a couple glasses of wine or shots of tequila than 👏👍👏. I adore your personality.
I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm and personality Steven!! I’ve been stressing about the fishbowl and the video made me feel a bit better. Thank you!!😊
Can definitely relate to having to adjust the jumpseat belt every flight. Seemed as though I never sat after someone my size haha! Easier said than done too! About to takeoff and still ripping on them to loosen!
Each airline is going to have their own process, but my hiring event was really just a handful of questions. When I've worked the hiring events there may have been a couple more. It was more waiting than questions.
@@akashananigans2901 that's freaking awesome!!!! You're very kind to say I helped, but you did all the work. Enjoy yourself and work hard. I'll see you in the sky!
Hi Steven! I have a F2F in a couple days and thank you so much for the info! It makes me feel more prepared watching your videos and getting some extra tips! Keep up the great work!
Which has been the hardest question out of the bowl that most people have the hardest time with answering that catches them by surprise? Great video BTW thanks
I guess the hardest question is always the one about describing the color yellow to a blind person. LOL! But all of them are really difficult if you're trying to give the perfect answer. I would suggest a meaning to answer the question in some way that feels comfortable and natural. There's rarely a perfect answer to any of those questions. So you just want to make sure that you take your time and answer in Accra he Civ way and make sure to look around the room, smile and look like you're having a nice time.
You answered all of my questions. Yay! The one that hit home for me is the curvy issue. I can fit into a coach seat but my hips and butt make for a tight fit. I imagine the just seat are smaller. Am I correct?
Hello Steven, thank you for the video! I have a F2F interview coming up in less than a week and I’ve been watching your videos and a few others. I keep hearing the part about following instructions and I was wondering if that also applies to the information that I’ve received from the airline to prepare for the interview. I’m referring to a day of tip sheet that talks about attire among other things. The info states to be business professional, to look like a flight attendant. For men it states to wear a two piece suit and tie. My question is if I can get away with wearing a three piece suit or if I should stick to a two piece suite as stated. Most of not all male flight attendants I’ve seen pictures or videos of or wearing the suit vest. Your advice is much appreciated!
Hi there. Personally, I would always follow directions for an interview...especially if it's something as simple as the direction to wear a two piece suit instead of a three piece.
Ok, so I just talked myself outta going... I CAN NOT speak in front of people. Bummer but I know myself. I blew the Allegiant interview because I couldn't get through that speech. Good luck to you both! You'll do great!
Steven Pereira also just curious how heavy is that 50 pound luggage? I tried to pick up a 53 pound of dog food and I could only pick it up and couldn’t get it on the top shelf
@@buttercupdabaddieutonium9257 So, the bag will probably weigh anywhere between thirty five and fifty pounds. You'll be probably be able to take off your heels if you're wearing them. Most likely you'll also be able to lift the bag to a chair and then lift it from there. It wouldn't be a bad idea to practice lifting a small bag.
Hey Steven, I love your videos a lot. I just found your You tube channel while I was looking for advice concerning the Interview process. I am currently in the Interview pipeline, if you will for Delta. I applied maybe a week ago and since then I got an email saying I got passed the application part. So I had to do a Video of me answering questions. I did that and then got an email saying to now do an assessment test . I did that and now I just received an email saying that I made it to the one on one Skype Interview. I am pretty excited about this and the fact that it has happen so fast. I know I have been long winded, however, I would love it if you could give me some advice for me. I hope I can continue to move forward and get my wings!. thank you for your time Steven. Sincerely, Chad
Thank u so much for doing these videos. What’s funny is that I’m going to an event at the end of this month and someone mentioned your video. I went to pull it up and got right back over to the Group Page and said “Oh WOW I totally remember this guy...I watched some of his videos before even going to this event”!!! It was meant to be that I got to see your video again. Thanks again and I wanted to ask that when u r asked about yourself do u need to stay focused mainly on your answer being more Customer Service oriented as well as mentioning SAFETY somewhere in there? Thank u again! Anna 😀🛫✈️🛬
Hi there! I dont think there is a "right" way to say something about yourself...unless the recruitment staff suggests some direction. If I had to get up and say something about myself...I'd smile and atate my name, where I'm from, list one or two of my main interests or hobbies and maybe one or two interesting facts if you have any. Then I'd probably say that I'm super happy to be there and excited to have this opportunity. Personally, I'd leave safety and customer service for the face to face section.
That must really suck if you’re too big to fit in a jump seat. Reminds me of when I wasn’t tall enough to get on roller coasters. Good luck to you all!
Sara Alaniz, are you asking about the bag you have to lift at the interview? The bag that I had to pick up was more of the size of a rollaboard. So, like a 21 or 22 inch bag. Anything larger than that would usually be checked at the ticket counter or gate checked so you wouldn't have to lift it.
I didn't actually answer your question! Sorry!!! The bag we had to lift over head wasn't very heavy...maybe twenty pounds or more. You're supposed to be able to lift at least fifty pounds to have the job, but the bag I lifted at my interview was not very heavy.
Steven Pereira oh I see. And is that 50 lbs over your head? I’m a young 52 y/o and just making sure I can do this. I know you have a video on older ppl applying but now that you are actually flying and working how physically demanding is the job? Maybe a video on that. Most common complaint you hear and this from younger FA is how tired they are and how often they get sick? I saw several other former FA from emirates talk about how their health problems with thyroid caused their contracts to be terminated. Something about the pressure and how your body goes from time zones to time zones. I appreciate the support you r giving us “wiser” ppl to join but wondering how taxing is it on the body? And I consider myself sorta fit. Maybe another video on this. Sleeping patterns etc. keep the vids coming. Blessings to you.
Sara Alaniz at the face-to-face interview the bag probably weighed 10 maybe 20 lb, not 50 for sure. I certainly will do a video on how to maintain my health. Especially while being a flight attendant. I've only had one cold so far and at my age I've learned how to sleep when I'm tired. But you have given me some good ideas I'm on next video.
Sara Alaniz - Make this a habit: As soon as you wake up everyday, 1 do push ups 2 do jumping jacks 3 do squats when you brush your teeth! Work your way up to 100 of each. Bend over with bent knees and hold onto your elbows before leaving for the day for at least 30 sec. This is good to do during the day when you need a good break! Stretch on the floor/bed with legs in a comfortable V before sleep at night.
Thank you for sharing your insight. I see why you are successful--your sincerely expressive face should be next to an explanation of a magnetic personality! Who wouldn't want to work with you? I know I would!
Just wanted to say “THANK YOU” for ALL of your help because I nailed my F2F and I GOT A CJOOOOOO!
Congratulations!!!
You’re basically serving as my FA therapist through all this right now. Such great content, thanks again for your time.

No excuse how tired someone is at their job not to be friendly and professional. I don’t care how busy I am or the chaos going on, when I see anyone in the hall or a patient of mine...I say, “Hello. Good Evening. Thank you for visiting or staying with us.”
Leave the tiredness and crankiness at home. People get paid to provide Amazing and Professional service.
I agree...but I'll say that it is sometimes a herculean effort to remain charming after a 12 hour duty day, delays, cancelations and other chaos. :)
Steven Pereira Yes, I like your chosen words “Herculean Effort.” I have had many a Hella
a lot of horrible shifts that I have gone into our supply closet, thrown my hands in the air, 🤬 and prayed for The LORD to take the hella of the wheel and help me! 🤣
If, at the end of the shift...it calls for a couple glasses of wine or shots of tequila than 👏👍👏. I adore your personality.
I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm and personality Steven!! I’ve been stressing about the fishbowl and the video made me feel a bit better. Thank you!!😊
I'm so glad! The goldfish bowl question really isn't as scary as it seems. Just get up there and act confident, happy and like you're having fun!
Can definitely relate to having to adjust the jumpseat belt every flight. Seemed as though I never sat after someone my size haha! Easier said than done too! About to takeoff and still ripping on them to loosen!
awesome stuff man
Thank you for sharing your stories. You are quite entertaining. Hope our paths cross one day.
About how many questions do you think you answered throughout the day?
Thank you for making this video, GREAT INFO!
Each airline is going to have their own process, but my hiring event was really just a handful of questions. When I've worked the hiring events there may have been a couple more. It was more waiting than questions.
Steven Pereira I got my CJO! You have no idea how much your videos helped me. Thank you!
Dimitri Rodriguez good luck!!
@@flightattendantsteven thank you so much my dear! Your video and encouragement helped me receive my CJO.
You answered all of my questions. Yay! The one that hit home for me is the curvy issue. I can fit into a coach seat but my hips and butt make for a tight fit. I imagine the just seat are smaller. Am I correct?
The jump seats are often smaller than passenger seats. But some airlines have two connected jumpseats..more like a bench.
What would be a good answer for biggest fear? Mine would be ¨to live an inconsequential life.¨ - too heavy?
Steven Pereira thank you!
So helpful! ❤️
I have my f2f with Spirit on Wednesday. I'm scared to death.. lol thanks for this!
Me too !!!!
Omg me too!lmao
Make sure you get there early . It will be a lot of people.
I will. I have 1.5 hour drive!
Ok, so I just talked myself outta going... I CAN NOT speak in front of people. Bummer but I know myself. I blew the Allegiant interview because I couldn't get through that speech. Good luck to you both! You'll do great!
I have a f2f/ recruitment event on 2/03. I’m going to watch this video 50 times.
This video is a little bit longer than it had to be, but I really really think that it is perfectly on point! Good luck at the hiring event!
Steven Pereira thank you very much. It’s my first
Steven Pereira also just curious how heavy is that 50 pound luggage?
Maybe, just for fun, you can post some goldfish questions and let people answer them here.
I love golden retrievers (dogs and people☺)
Thx. 💗💕💗
That must really suck if you’re too big to fit in a jump seat. Reminds me of when I wasn’t tall enough to get on roller coasters. Good luck to you all!
Maybe I missed it, but what is the goldfish bowl question...I spoke too soon. Now I get it.
Hey I just met you in the crew room ORD 🖤💛🖤💛
Luvie Jackson hi there! I do get around!
😂😂 omg I have a strong strong accent. I have my F2F next week so nervous 😥
Just take your time...there's no need to rush, especially when reading announcements!
How heavy is the luggage that you are suppose to carry overhead? Is it a carry on or checked luggage ?
Do you know if anyone is hiring soon?
Yep, it seems everyone is hiring in the US! Check the employment/careers page for whatever airline you like.
@@flightattendantsteven more specifically for a flight attendant?
Many airlines are hiring. Just go to the careers tab for any airline that you'd like to apply for.
Can you bring a luggage to the spirit hotel interviews ?
Yes, you can. There will be places to keep it.
Steven Pereira thank you.
Thank you for sharing your insight. I see why you are successful--your sincerely expressive face should be next to an explanation of a magnetic personality! Who wouldn't want to work with you? I know I would!
f2f tomorrow and enjoyed your vids. you're very likeable :) until later Steven
Good luck!
You have to be careful about saying someone who spoke with an accent and couldn’t be understood is a train wreck.
Great point. Thank you!
