No Drill Jessem Stock Guides Install | Table Saw Safety | Woodworking

- In this episode I show you how to make a jig for your Jessem Clear Cut TS Stock Guides so that you don't have to drill into your fence. Jessem Stock Guides helps to steer your sheet goods properly towards the fence in a safe and accurate way. Using the stock guides will keep longer lumber from wandering away from the fence which could cause kick back. I built a removable jig using Magswitch Magjig 95 and some scrap plywood. Using this jig will allow me to quickly remove it completely and then use any other table saw jig. This project is quick and simple, but definitely something that will increase your table saw safety. #tablesawsafety #toolupgrade #woodshop

The mag switch to secure the arm assembly temporarily was pretty freaking brilliant.
Thanks for an awesome suggestion. You convinced me to remount my guides.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Perfect thank you
Great idea! Excellent video!
Thank you and thank you!! Glad you got something from the video.
Thanks for the great video. Just what I was looking for. Wasn't thrilled with the thought of drilling holes directly into my fence.
Glad it came in handy!
Great idea I was going back and forth myself But after watching you I think I’m gonna go the same way you did thanks mate
Awesome! Glad I could help!!
Thanks so much for this guide! I made this for our school's sawstops and it works perfectly. I had to cut out some spacers from steel hose clamp straps in order to raise the mag jigs the extra 1/32nd of an inch or so above the plywood top surface so that they would sit flush with the bottom of the plywood base. I think you used some split lock washers as spacers. I didn't have any on hand that were thin enough. Anyway, thanks again!
I am very happy that this helped you! I’d love to see some pictures
Nice job!!
Thank you very much!
Very nice!
Thank you very much!
That is a great method for attaching the Jessem jig to your tablesaw I plan on doing the same thing and making a set up so that I can use the very same Jessem jigs on my router table
That’s a great idea.
Very nice. I think I will copy you, but of course I will tell all my friends that it was my idea😃
I think that’s pretty standard lol
That is awesome, I was doing the exact same thing this evening, getting late stopped for the night decided to check UA-cam for installing the guides and find you have already proved my concept idea. That is really cool. After using it for some time any changes? Improvements or regrets? Stay safe!
No changes so far. It’s been perfect. The only thing I would say would be getting a little stronger magnet.
Jesus this is beautiful
Which ratcheting driver is that? I don’t see it listed in your description- do you like it?
I am a newbie to woodworking. I am assembling your Jessem stick guides with the mag switches. I really love your plans. What size, and what type of counter sink bit did you use for the metal mag switches? Thanks
I used a countersink that was comparable to the screws I used to make sure they sank into the mags enough.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I assume you have to have a ferrious metal in your fence? Are they all compatible with those magnets? Great idea.
As long as your fence is made using something like steel then the magnets will attach.
Have you had any issues with the magjig 95’s holding down? Just debating on using the 95 or 150. Thanks for the video!
curious which one you went with...i am debating the same thing now.
FYI - You set the spring tension for different stock thicknesses by loosening the arms and resting the outer body (left of the roller wheels) on top of the piece to be cut, then tighten the arms down. If you have the tension too high you'll wear out the soft ruuber wheels prematurely and risk lifting the fence out of position. It doesnt take much tension to hold the piece securely against the table and its the angle of the wheels that pulls the piece against the fence.
Yes that’s exactly correct. Thanks for watching.
yea he got confused or just doesn't know
This is the way
You should use push sticks even with the guides and Sawstop.
Newbie here: I’m guessing you’re limited to making narrow cuts because of the width of the wheels? Also, I understand they hold the material down but what exactly is the benefit? Thanks, Garry
Hi Garry, great question! The wheels pull the material tight to the fence in order to keep the cut straight as well as help to prevent kickback. These work great when I’m ripping down 4x8 sheets of 1/4” plywood into 5” strips for faux shiplap.
what does the magswitch attach to? is there metal on top of the sawstop fence?
Yes the fence is metal so it secures tightly.
Any idea if the TS Stock guide will work on a Delta 36-725T2? There's a small auxiliary fence that would have to be moved out of the way.
The aux fence is used for thin materials and the fence must be to the left of the blade. I don't use it, it can be put in the down position and not interfere with fence movement when to the right of the blade. This would free up the top for the Jessem TS Stock guides.
Did you end up getting the TS guide? I also have a 36-725T2 and was wondering if the TS Stock guides will fit.
Since your guide is now 3/4 inch higher than the fence top, can your jig still handle very thin stock?
Yes the arms adjust down far enough to handle the thin stock.
Im trying to use 3/4 inch ply but the mag switch sticks out the bottom about 1/32 ''. Did you have that issue?
You can try shimming it with some washers, but I did not have that issue.
What size screws did you use for the mag switches?
I used #8 1-inch wood screws. I did have to use a bit to clear some material on the mag switches so the screws sat flush.
Did you use the #8-1 inch for the rail as well? I got my setup used with no hardware for the rail. TIA
@@bcghost9501 yes I used the same screws. 👍🏻
where do you get the mag switch from?
I bought mine directly from MagSwitch.
Damn, unfortunately my fence is aluminium, I wished I could use that magnet switch
your amazon links are not working
Thanks for letting me know I appreciate it
you're talking about spring pressure while adjust the knobs on top which have nothing to do with spring pressure. The manual does not talk about spring pressure or any way to adjust it, I think you just made this up and got confused with the knobs that lock down the arms angle and horizontal movement. Please add notes about your mistake
3 minutes and 15 secounds in and he uses a drill
No drill into your table saw fence.
@@TwoBitWoodworks yeah, I see what you mean, just finished.
