  • I did a video on some tools from Banggood.com. I found these Hongdui tools to be of extremely high quality. Many people commented that these were IP theft. I contacted Jessem to find out but they never responded. I have links to both below. Either one would be a great addition to any shop.

    Thank you for the video, honestly these stock guides are a pretty important safety feature. The reality is that Jessem's price is so high that it prices out hobbiest woodworkers from owning such an important safety tool. Many of us use Jobsite table saws and the Jessem guides cost more than I paid for my saw new.

      Great point! They are definitely more than I paid for my first table saw. I got them after almost losing two fingers. If they bad been more affordable, I may have gotten them sooner.

    I would like to get this set. It looks great. I had the Jessem for two days. I would not fit my table saw. So I sent it back. Hopefully the base will fit in my table saw. Great video.

      They are almost the same size. It is aluminum, so you rip it down to make it fit. It fits perfectly on my delta.

    I had trouble with the cost of the Canadian version and bought the China product also. For me it comes down to shop safety fitting them on an older Unisaw

      I had a board catch and pulled my hand into my table saw. I may not have feeling in two of my fingers, but I do still have them. I bought my first set of Jesems right after. They help with safety but do get in the way of the push block sometimes.

    Hongdui have taken an idea and done it better. That's how progress is made. Somebody invents a steam engine, an internal combustion engine, a toaster, whatever, somebody else comes along and builds a better one. It was ever thus. In this case the guides are a safety feature and should be open source. I believe Saw Stop have done this with their technology, at least outside the US.

      I was going to buy a router lift and these guides from Jessem. While waiting for an email response, they raised the price. I was able to get these guides and an O'skool motorized lift for about the same price. I think both are better, so I am glad they blew me off.

    So, it could be that they had someone else make it and it is a relabeled product…. Thus no one would want to admit that they farmed it out

    I think we have got the right to expect and get excellent service from our companies and suppliers - shame that many times it doesn't happen. But our companies and suppliers have got the right to expect us to not support day light property theft (and this goes well beyond this: a feisty fight for planet dominance by ...)- so difficult to do when comes down to our pockets. We are both guilty and little by little we are all doing ourselves a massive disfavour: we will all end up losing...buyers, makers and suppliers and our countries. The more we buy fully western made tools and machines the better

    I, on the other hand, have had numerous email & Phone contacts with Jessem regarding product inquiries in the past several months. They suffer the same "long wait times" as any company who enjoy good sales due to high quality products. The similarities are difficult to ignore with theses stock guides except for minor differences, which, IMO indicates an infringement. It only matters if you feel your patronizing the "pirated" version is unfair. I budget my $s spent based off need and applicable use, but I also try to buy domestic if possible. I also try to support independent vendors when possible..I will not patronize Bangood or Temu because of the aforementioned reasons!

    • @ShopRamblings

      I have had the opposite from Jessem. I have purchased several of their products in the pass. I emailed them and could not get a responds. I called and talked with a CSR. I asked to speak with someone who might know about these. He said I couldn't. I left all my contact info with him and never got a call back or email. When Jessem left a comment I replied with my contact info asking them to contact me. That was 3 months ago and they never did. I have 6 different drills. All different brands but all basically the same thing. I don't know why 2 companies can make the same of one tool and not another. These are the same "tool" but every piece was different. I am not a patient lawyer that is why I wanted to get some more info. Chervon and TTi own almost all major power tool brands. Both have their tools made in China. It is a sad fact but the average person couldn't put together a tool box, much less a shop without tools from China.

      @@ShopRamblings you aren't going to get a response from a company that could be contemplating litigation or in the early stages of litigation... for that matter, even in the absence of litigation why would jessem talk about a competitor's product? I don't think you would get dewalt to comment on ryobi etc but maybe they would... but definitely not when there is potential litigation

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings  13 днів тому

      @DanielLeavittAttorneyatLaw I am definitely not an attorney, but Hongdui is a reputable company. They make tools for other reputable companies. I know Katz Moses did a lot of research when deciding who to manufacture tools for his brand. I am just not going to assume they are stealing intellectual property because they make a safety device that is similar to another. There are many tools that are similar to other ones but made by different companies. This is not a cheap copy. This is a better designed higher quality tool that is used for the same purpose. The fact is I was going to buy the Jessem ones, but they raised their price again. This was just too much for me, so I was going to do without until I found these. After using both, if they were the same price, I would pick the Hongdui over Jessem. At $100 cheaper, there is no decision to make. If they are making a stolen version, that would be the only reason I wouldn't buy them.

  • @ericchase5421
    @ericchase5421 3 місяці тому

    Sure sounds like they have any patent protection at all. $10,000 isn’t even an attempt to defend a patent. Do they have any international patents? Why don’t they list them? Seems like they are non-competitive manufactures. Maybe they should merge with a company with more robust legal representation.

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings  3 місяці тому +2

      I don't know and if they don't want to tell me that is one them. I know Hongdui works with some very reputable people like Katz Moses. You don't put out quality products like they are if you are a shady company. I am just putting out what I found and I am trying to be as honest as I can. Then people can make the decision for their self. For me I decided to get a better quality tool at a cheaper price from a company that will return my email. I have since bought several Hongdui products and will buy more as I can afford them.

    look at it this way----you feed, clothe, and house a N. American family----OR you feed, clothe, and house an Asian family------SPECIAL NOTE knock offs are generally less expensive because the engineering is already done and the worker is earning MUCH, MUCH, MUCH less!!!!

      I drove to work in a Dodge truck. Is that a knock-off of a Ford? I don't know what constitutes a knockoff. Getting a higher quality tool at almost half the price helps feed, cloth, and house a US family, mine.
