I have been playing with this same video footage on and off for almost a year now. It is my absolute favorite time period for Pearl Jam or for any band for that matter. This footage is highly manipulated to create the most enjoyable viewing experience for me. It is from a time period that has a very limited amount of high-quality footage. Any of the stuff I edit, I do it for me! If you guys like how it turns out, GREAT! if not that’s ok, too. In this version I attempted to simulate what would have been an MTV “On the Road” Concert video broadcast. I addressed many small details from the MTV logos, the fonts used, to labeling the songs and city / date the way it was broadcast in 1993 etc.… (I often think of the MTV Live & Loud broadcast that Nirvana played in December of ’93. PJ was slated to play and pulled out at the last moment because Ed was sick. This Seattle footage is a week from when that would have been.) I suppose that may have been the idea for starting this project.
More importantly, the concert footage has been changed a bunch from its original form. There is added crowd footage, re-used parts to create a more professional multi-cam feel, different audio used than the video source in some places. In those cases, some audio would require speed and pitch changes. All of the audio is soundboard. Most of the video footage used is from leaked MTV clips used for “MTV News” and “This week in Rock”. The footage for the Seattle songs are from Kiro-TV Seattle, and filmed by Jan Kuwahara. They archived three songs on the Kiro-TV website. After more digging I was able to find a 1-minute clip of “State of Love & Trust used as an outro during one of their nightly news broadcasts the week of the show.
Dave grohl and Dave Abbruzzese put Nirvana and PJ on another level
Bang on. They were the perfect fit. Both driving forces of the bands. MC plays for the band, DA played with them
Well put my friend, even though Cameron is PJ’s drummer and isn’t bad but let’s be honest he’s not in Dave’s class
Grohl was really good, but Dave A. was another level drummer.
I am a die hard Soundgarden fan, A true Matt Cameron fan boy! But, Dave A. was the best drummer for Pearl Jam hands down, no comparison.
1000%
I couldn't agree more. I know they couldn't overcome their personality differences with, but his drumming is/was the definitive drum sound of Pearl Jam, with nothing but massive respect to Matt.
Agree 2.000%
Agree 10000%
I concur. Matt is chill and a straight forward drummer, but Dave brought the hard hitting with finesse to his drumming... with his drum fills and the way he played his cymbals and splash cymbals with his accents. Matt doesn't do any of that even in soundgarden. I taught myself how to play drums drumming along to their albums Versus and Vitalogy. Dave's drumming broadened my mindset and playing. He made me think of playing cymbals and looking at them as another drum rather than a traditional cymbals esp hitting the bells and getting more out of the cymbals.
Dave abruzese was a monster on drums! He is driving the band
best PJ drummer
He was their best drummer.
@@StarDogg27 Agreed and this video is proof! They are killing it with Dave on drums..
Matt C is way better, has more technique and is a better musician overall
He's great
Just stopped by to give Dave Abbruzzese a little more love. Man, I love his drumming.
What an extraordinary drummer Dave Abbruzzese was.
Seriously the best they had..
He still drums

I still got it, brother! Was... Pffft. 🤣😂🤣
@@FreeAssRecords The cover of Seasons with Pseutopia is fantastic! Love your playing on that.
What makes Abruzzese special is that he is groovy, fast, hits hard and yet he's articulate all together. Look at his cymbals work....
Also, great vocal performance in those 90s years!
His cymbal work is what inspired me as a kid to learn that kind of playing. He gets so much articulation and adds a lot of color by using his cymbals. Also his foot is heavy but free too, you can tell he's a musician first, drummer second.
@@briansharp5157 exactly! well said!
How would you describe Matt Cameron's playing, by contrast?
@@chrisdriver7776I personally think that Matt Cameron is very straight forward. He also hits hard but more robotic. With the fills, tempo changes und cymbal work from Dave you just get in another groove... and you kinda get high listen to it. But they are both good drummers, I like the heaviness in Soundgarden so in this context its good when its more straight forward.

Absolutely Pearl Jam was Animal before
Up date I saw them at Burbon and Beyond Sept.📅 2022 Louisville Kentucky!
After 2 years of no concerts cuz of (covid crap) Pearl Jam is back in 2022 with what I'd call a new perspective. A refreshed hunger to play and play great! They are all seasoned veterans now.
And I'm telling you they are all at the top of there game right now!! They must have practiced and honed in there skills or better put expanded there skills, the last two and they are back and happy!! And I'd say musically they are way better than 20-30 years ago.
But this was fun to watch!!
Cheers!

The Pearl Jam fan base is the most ridiculously clanish short sighted (we are better than you) bunch I've ever been around. Which I am very glad to not be a part of it anymore. They all want to hear the rarities at every show. Lost Dogs if you will. They all can't wait for them to play Dirty Frank. A grotesque song to say the least.. I had forgotten that I wrote this complimentary post about Pearl Jam in 2022. They just seemed revitalized and happy to be playing. How did that go in 2023?
2 shows in Sait Paul, 2 shows in Chicago, 1 ON THE DAY OF CANCELED SHOW in Noblesville Indiana. The day of everyone is showing up,,, CANCLED, SORRY, GO HOME PEOPLE. Luckily I wasn't in that poor group. & 4 shows in Texas. So 8 shows for 2023 and you guys call yourself a rock band?? They are bunch of lazy washed up dudes who don't want to play anymore. Then please go away. I instead went to FARM AID, where 91 year old Willie is still rocking it with a tour that doesn't end. He just keep adding dates to his lifetime of on the road tour dates. 📅
I've been to 20 PJ shows over the years & 4 Eddie solo shows. I don't know how to describe this.
Pearl Jam is something that I used to do. What a difference a year makes from my original positive post here. So there. They largely played there Greatest Hits at the Burbon and Beyond show & I was very impressed with the energy and Eddie's voice had 2 years to rest performance. So your assumption that that was my 1st Pearl Jam show was a fantastic example of why I believe I spent wasted the last 25 + years supporting the wrong band.
Any band would've been a much better investment of time and money instead of this clown show that Pearl Jam and ther craptacullar fan base turned out to be. That's called growing up.
Just the way you say, Uhhh, let me guess, that was your 1st PJ show is in a nutshell the reas yall suck!!🤣

Man ain’t that the truth! Almost exactly what I just said to someone else just now! 30 years man where the hell did the time go. Seems like a dream now but it actually happened didn’t it? I often think what itd be like to go back and if we could live without all the iPhones and streaming / new technology that we’ve become so accustomed to now that we take for granted now. It definitely made for a better society I’d say that much. Just glad we didn’t have social media and camera phones in highschool. It would’ve ruined it. Cause we partied our asses off like rockstars and didn’t need people blasting it all over the internet. We weren’t prisoners of these screens and people actually used to call each other up and hang out in person instead of just communicating through social media. It would’ve ruined it all IMO. The downfall of society if you ask me. Especially FaKebook which I’m proud to say I cut the cord to and haven’t been on since 2019. Best decision ever. Just watching narcissism left and right and that worthless app. The 90’s were the exact opposite of most of the most common crap that is in the world today. Must simpler times. Peace ✌️

Dave brought so much energy and was the perfect fit. Matt is light years behind
Dave wasn’t the perfect fit. People need to stop saying that. He didn’t get along with Ed. They wouldn’t be a band today with Dave. He had his run and then they dumped him. Jack had his run and kept the band together and made No Code instead of breaking up. Then Matt came in and took the band into the 21st century and has given them the longevity that bands only dream of.
How’s Dave not the perfect fit, he sounds perfect, and you sound jealous!

I’ve got a cool story about Eddie Vedder. First I worked for an insurance company back in the day in the special lines field and remember actually speaking to Eddie about his boat policy! ILL NEVER FORGET IT! RIP CHRIS CORNELL. The Seattle scene in the early 1990’s is unsurpassed by anything going on today!

Same here bro
I miss the 90s, a time where we never knew how good we had it and now it's gone
McCready starts "GO" w/ a Fender Stratocaster. Upon his first guitar solo he's playing a Gibson Les Paul. Les Paul's are heavy AF and he plays it behind his head. #theoldswitcharoo
Haha, the footage is edited together. The guitar solo was not shown at all in the original footage. All footage with the Les Paul is actually from the “Why Go” solo. It is carefully edited and matched up.
This era were the best years of my life, all these songs and so many from all the other awesome bands this time were the theme tune. Pearl Jam were always my favourite.
Yup - the sheer primal f*cking glory of it all ... instantly emasculates 99% of modern music. GD I miss the 80's/90s!!!
When a time machine turns up please carry me along. Miss so much those years.
What an enjoyment this is to listen to on headphones. As a drummer in HS school then it was such an amazing time for rock drumming with Dave A and Matt Cameron and many others....unique, creative, solid players who drove their bands and as always with drummers hugely underappreciated
Dave Krusen was the drummer on their debut record, 10-arguably the best album in their catalog.
I was a big fan back in the day when they released TEN. I still listen to a couple of songs every now and then these days. But the energy the band had during the first half of the 90s was second to none. Vedder still has a great voice. (so personal and full of emotion).

Perfect young Pearl Jam!!!
Raw mayhem
I have to admit I really liked Dave Abruzese in Pearl Jam. Why did they fire him? What did he do? For me this is the classic lineup of this band!
he wasnt a liberal
They fired him because Eddie constantly had issues with his attitude, carelessness, and even found his drumming too busy wanting a more simplistic sound. They just had a bad relationship throughout their career together, and in one instance when Dave accidentally broke a signed guitar from Pete Townshend, mixed with Eddie’s sadness from the loss of Kurt Cobain, it left him a little crushed at the time. Eventually leading to Eddie just having enough
@@smarkmalark Plus Dave bought a gun with his new found money/fame and Eddie was anti-gun, this added to his decision. He even wrote a song about his feelings in reg to Dave buying a gun . Glorified G.
1993 + Seattle + Pearl Jam = the essence of Grunge (and also my best time in childhood)
Thank you so much. This is a great performance. You can really hear the bass guitar in the mix. Just don't tell Lars.
To the editor and uploader- thanks for the work you put into this!
Omg! Thank you for posting !
Tremendo!
Thanks for your time and sharing.
I was a sweet summer child in '93. Wish I had been older. Thank God for the internet.
Glorified g, got to admire dave putting his heart into the song even though it was at least partly about him.
Elijah Vance I always wondered about that. The divide in this country is stupid. He was the best PJ drummer by a lot. Too bad
@@Libertarian_Neighbor Agreed! Dave is so much better than matt cameron and Eddie, I admire him less because of that. He was a huge son of bitch and not really into democracy and freedom
Elijah Vance, Yes, It was Sad... Eddie was a bad Human being in that Situation....
Dave did write Glorified G lol
@@monicajean37 dave brought two guns to band practice, eddie hates guns and wrote the song about people liking guns. The drum parts are all dave. The mighty dave abbruzzese.
