When Chris Cornell looked like a beautiful Jesus It's good to show the public, a whole era seriously. When will rock make a come back in the mainstream??? We need new rock bands, with energy, passion and art I am more than ready for it
They're both lucky to have him. Someone has to replace him though on Soungarden 2014 dates, he had to choose one or the other this time and he picked PJ. Good luck finding somebody to play his parts correctly...
***** Yeah, they got Matt Chamberlain for all the tour dates this year. It's hard, Soundgarden are touring right now to support the 20th anniversary of Superunknown, but Pearl Jam are touring for their new album, and they both are pretty heavy tours that would probably be logistically and physically impossible to coordinate, so Matt chose to go with PJ.
***** I don't know if you're a drummer or not, but a Soundgarden/Pearl Jam/Temple of the Dog tour would absolutely murder him. He's 50 years old now, and it's not like he's playing smooth jazz or anything, it's hard rock and it's very tiring to play an hour long set, let alone a 3 hour long set. With two different bands.
***** Nothing like that, I don't think he likes one band more than the other, he still played with Soundgarden at the two shows this year where they played Superunknown in full and on the Tonight Show, he just can't do both at the same time. He also cited his decision on wanting to still have time available with his family as well.
i keep coming back to watch this a million times. chris’ vocals are insane, the fact he sounds just as good or better live as studio recordings just proves he’s one of the greatest. kim’s guitar work completes this band, matt just plays the drums like no other, and ben is a bass legend and has written some of my favorite SG songs. love this band so much. one of my favorite live SG performances
Choice Soundgarden in their f-ing prime. Cam and Shep are un-f-ing-stoppable. Cornell hits the high notes with full authority. K.T. is always confidently original, no other guitarist like him. Bad ass and worth the watch. Thanks for sharing.
Well you see there was this ancient thing called TV where there was different channels that you would switch Hopi g something good would be on before you could pick what you wanted to watch, I know weird concept but keep with me here so when people switched to a channel that had something like this on it would tell you what you were watching in case you hadn't been watching from the beginning.
@CoomLord-ev3ik Hahaha man your comment mmd I might be a mental wreck, but I sure can tell Tim Commerford and Ben Shepherd apart. It was just a play on words because so many people know Chris for Soundgarden rather than Audioslave. Geez haha "a tiny little band I may have heard of" you don't even know me a bit
@CoomLord-ev3ik If you think so, go with it kid. I don't think you are in a position to speak for anybody but yourself. Referencing one of Chris' other projects by calling his bassist an "Audioslave" is a play on words for me. If you know better, good for you Shakespeare.
+Santiago Marín you them right, is been a magic years for wild music , soundgarden is one of my way of life but pearl jam and aic is fucking great to i'm not good in English but this period been pure no texto or cellular just here for the music fuck its been magic
So fuckin' true. The nineties were a golden age for real rock music played by real musicians. Some of the festival lineups I saw back then were magic, totally unforgettable. Makes me come over all melancholy seeing this. Great days for sure.
+Santiago Marín ... it's called the "i was there" syndrome ... people enjoy more rewatching the show on a two inches screen and tweety speaker rather than LIVING it. In fact there's no LIVING music anymore ... it's all about playback lipsync and fukking dancers and talent-less bunch of fellows put together at xfactor
still in disbelief that this amazing human isn't with us anymore. What a gifted person he was. Long live chris cornell and the beautiful music he shared with all of us
1992 i was 17 years old it was one of the best years of my life i still have great memories of those golden times. Alice in Chains and Soundgarden the best bands of that time but the media choice was Nirvana. Great injustice with AIC and Soundgarden.
Vinter Sorg....Dude come on...I was 20 in 1992...I was a huge Nirvana fan...I also love Soundgarden and like a lot of AIC...but there was no "great injustice" done to Soundgarden or AIC....both bands got critical acclaim, huge fanbases and sold tons of records. Great injustice is bands like Mudhoney or the Melvins never making it huge, while Billy Ray Cyrus does. The media choice was actually Pearl Jam. Nirvana got the most attention because they were the first to break through, had the catchiest tunes and because Kurt was such a presence. They deserved that attention. Soundgarden has and always has gotten a lot of respect, especially by Nirvana fans like me. Nirvana and the guys in Soundgarden were friends, the guys in Soundgarden respected them and were completely blown away when suddenly Nirvana made it through. The attention and glare that Nirvana brought to the genre benefited Soundgarden, AIC and all the other Seattle bands, not to mention alternative music in general and thank goodness for that, since i was pretty damn sick of Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer.
I think its all about what the band did to expose themselves more. nirvana and pearl jam both probably contacted MTV to do the unplugged show that year, and SG perhaps didn't yet want that exposure, or MTV thought their sound is too heavy. it's sad, but MTV has a say on what kids/people will like.
NARKISDUDE Well let's not say Nirvana "contacted" MTV to do MTV Unplugged...in fact, the relationship between Nirvana and MTV was in the toilet because Nirvana was furious at MTV because of their behavior. Nirvana did not want to go to the MTV Video music Awards that September (1993) and MTV threatened them by saying not that they would never play Nirvana videos again, but that MTV would never play *ANY* videos by other groups that Nirvana's management, Gold Mountain represented... MTV's behavior was despicable.
tnx for the info, now I hate these mo'fuckers even more (MTV) other than that, my point was that it's good publicity you know, to have lots of music videos etc., even if it means selling out and at times shorten the length of the song because THEY think its too long. unless you're Justin Timberlake and in that case a 10 minute video is peachy(: ...
God knows how many times I’ve watched this, the bass player somehow still manages to play in amongst all of the moving around. Such a great band, mega in concert.
I dont even know who else played this festival, but just the fact that a young Soundgarden and Pearl Jam played makes it legendary. I wonder how many people there even realized that day the level of greatness they were seeing
Love how Chris gives the finger to the camera guy getting in his face …. Next scene you see both dudes with cameras backing off stage 😂. Like they pissed off God or something. @@joandrumz3176 I recall Chris Cornell introducing Ben Shepard at the Capitol Theatre in Olympia, WA in 1991. He raved on him and sounded extremely grateful to have him in the band. He was being really modest and almost sounded like he thought Ben was too good for the band saying they were really lucky to have him. Perhaps he never got a lot of mainstream credit, but he got a lot of respect from other members of the band.
I discovered this band only days ago...If only I had discovered it before....Chris he had a fabulous voice...and This band deserves a lot...This guys was amazing.. RIP chris
I actively try not to think that way, because I want to believe in the times I'm living in and make the best of them. But I watch this and it's like, this shit was actually popular, selling records, and having an effect on the culture. And there's not a bunch of twits recording on their phones. And I can't help but feel like I got robbed because I came of age when I did.
And I was there! Amazing how good they where live. Getting to watch Pearl Jam aswell that same year, with Eddie climbing too high up, people where getting worried. Just great...It remained the only live show I saw and will ever see of Chris though...sad. But that great day will stay forever in my heart!
I never saw them live but I was in the sixth grade when this album came out and my older bro brought it home. It changed my life. This era is the pinnacle of rock and roll.
Soundgarden's and Pearl Jam's Pinkpop 92' performances were out of this world amazing. What a great time for music. Side note: Look at the rain puddles creeping in from the sides of the stage, it's a miracle someone didn't get electrocuted.
Its incredible the amount of people that hates pearl jam without reason, the irony is that eddie is the only grunge singer alive, long live grunge and fuck off all the haters
So great! I remember seeing them at Lollapaloosa in 1992 Orlando FL, there was a small hurricane approaching FL we thought the concert might cancel, but it went on. When Soundgarden came on, they were on the second stage (outdoor) and the Tropical Storm force winds were coming from directly behind the stage, blowing all their hair straight at us and with the gray menace of clouds behind them and wind blowing through them and toward us, it felt like we were all being pulled into some kind of vortex, pulling us in with Soundgarden ROCKING us all the way. It was AMAZING. It was a great time to be alive :-) Yeah!
@@BeyondOurSolarSystem of this era they were. I think _Down on the Upside_ is better in the studio because the whole album is a trip. But the dynamic of the sound on that album is like a whole different band than on _Badmotorfinger._ I absolutely love both albums, but for different reasons. Soundgarden were definitely the most artistically ambitious of the grunge bands. I have a feeling that the direction that Soundgarden went is something like what Kurt would've wanted for Nirvana, but with respect to him, I doubt he would've achieved it had he lived a few more years. Chris, Ben, Kim and Matt were/are some trippy artistic mofos.
Yup. The drummer's drummer. Not full of flair or solo's but does shit that astounds the rest of us. Me and my drummer mates (some professional, wealthy and touring) still can't work out some shit he does, particularly end of rearview mirror pearl jam live in NY dvd.

Chris was a genius. Like many who are gifted, he struggled with depression. He saw his flaws and rarely recognized the talent, always wanting to be better. He definitely did not consider himself a rock God.

I'm confident there are bands in basements, garage's, banging music like this out there. It's a shame the Industry doesn't let this shit through anymore! Cornell was definitely one of the best vocalists of ALL time! Fucking commercialism!
I am not so sure if there are bands out there doing this. Today it's all about, I'll be in a band for 6 months and if we are not playing Madison Square Garden then I'll move on to something else. The fans and industry aren't there to support bands. So band members move on and get on with their life. Or they simply copy another band verbatim. People today are more concerned with making it than the art portion of it.

It gets even more impressive when you find out he was drunk all the time at every concert.
every session they used to drink, so if they weren't drunk it was harder to play
no wonder it sounds like a mess
everyone in this era performed either drunk or high as fuck
Plenty of legendary rock groups throughout the years played their best shows high or sideways. Bands like The Doors or The Stooges most certainly weren't sober for their best performances.

How lucky is Matt Cameron?? Plays with two of the best bands ever!
I would more state it that they are lucky to have such a talented musician like him;)
i keep coming back to watch this a million times. chris’ vocals are insane, the fact he sounds just as good or better live as studio recordings just proves he’s one of the greatest. kim’s guitar work completes this band, matt just plays the drums like no other, and ben is a bass legend and has written some of my favorite SG songs. love this band so much. one of my favorite live SG performances
Choice Soundgarden in their f-ing prime. Cam and Shep are un-f-ing-stoppable. Cornell hits the high notes with full authority. K.T. is always confidently original, no other guitarist like him. Bad ass and worth the watch. Thanks for sharing.

1992 i was 17 years old it was one of the best years of my life i still have great memories of those golden times.
Alice in Chains and Soundgarden the best bands of that time but the media choice was Nirvana.
Great injustice with AIC and Soundgarden.
don´t Forget pearl jam, candlebox and rage against the machine
NARKISDUDE
Well let's not say Nirvana "contacted" MTV to do MTV Unplugged...in fact, the relationship between Nirvana and MTV was in the toilet because Nirvana was furious at MTV because of their behavior.
Nirvana did not want to go to the MTV Video music Awards that September (1993) and MTV threatened them by saying not that they would never play Nirvana videos again, but that MTV would never play *ANY* videos by other groups that Nirvana's management, Gold Mountain represented...
MTV's behavior was despicable.
tnx for the info, now I hate these mo'fuckers even more (MTV)
other than that, my point was that it's good publicity you know, to have lots of music videos etc., even if it means selling out and at times shorten the length of the song because THEY think its too long. unless you're Justin Timberlake and in that case a 10 minute video is peachy(: ...
God knows how many times I’ve watched this, the bass player somehow still manages to play in amongst all of the moving around. Such a great band, mega in concert.
not to mention is shoe lace haha
the fact that cam can do this on that simple of a drum kit is mind blowing

The guitar work between Kim and Chris in the intro and then solo section for "Slaves and Bulldozers" is just masterful.
Badmotorfinger came out when I was in high school, it changed my life.... still listen to it regularly....
"HOW NOW BROWN COW? YEEEUUGHRIGHT" is the best lyric in all of grunge
that moment when Kim Thayil's beard plays guitar better than you
He's blowing on the strings, not rubbing his beard on it. Though admittedly I think Kim's beard could shred like crazy
Kim Thayil’s pubes could play better than Kim Thayil

“Drawing Flies”.
