Adam is just not human - the sounds that come out of him! Seriously, seeing them live was one of the best concerts I've seen in my life - and I've seen many. Thanks so much guys, love you both
Thanks Guys! I hope you'll do more live videos in the future. BTW- Home Free was just awarded the Entertainer Of The Year at the A Cappella Awards a few nights ago. They were up against a slew of very talented people for that award, including PTX. Their videos are awesome, but theres nothing as good as experiencing them live. I was totally astounded the first time I saw them in concert. Now, 5 concerts later, I'm still in awe of this group and their talent.
I hadn't heard about the award, and just looked it up. The list of winners is here: acappellamusicawards.com/awards ...and there they are! Sweet! Thanks, Cindy Flory!
Totally agree...It was a random post of a song on FB 4 years ago that introduced me to the best vocal band in the land! I go to every concert near me.St. Patrick's Day this year with a front row seat will be a memory that will last a lifetime. They are not just the best vocal band around, they are the best entertainers!
OH that part you listened to again -- that's Adam as a harmonica and Austin as a train whistle kind of mournful in the background and HARMONIZING!! WOW!
Thank you so much for reacting to this one, so happy to see you enjoyed it as much as I do! The song has been one of favorite since the album release. HomeFree are so amazingly talented. They have it all, harmonies/performing and sweet people all-around. Looking forward to your next HFreaction❤
I loved watching your reaction to Constant Sorrow. I felt the same way when I saw it live for the first time. I was speechless and you seemed to be the same. They are "friggin' awesome" as you stated. I certainly hope you'll be able to see them when they get overseas later this year.
If I'm not mistaken they mentioned that making that sound hurts Chance's voice (especially doing it over the course of the whole song), so, that's part of the reason why they do it.
Home Free is so good live! You just got to go see them when they come to Europe! Glad you reacted to this one. It is in my top three Home Free songs. Cannot wait to see the official music video. The loop station is great when used with style, as they do. Actually Adam looped not only Chance's jew's harp, but also Rob's background doumpy doump doo AND his own beatboxing three times. He is so good at it, you don't even notice it. Looking forward to more Home Free live reactions!
Another of my favorites......I had my doubts about the looping station at first, too, but feel they do it just right. Seeing a live video is great, but you MUST find a way to see them LIVE in CONCERT! Hope when they come to Europe you can arrange it -- you will never forget.
Think about this guys, all of these ( well 90% or better) are all recorded on cell phones. They are insane live, and Adam is a beast, he is insanely talented.
I love Chance's jew's harp in the beginning. They perfected it by showing that he actually did it, and then looped it. Adam also do the harmonica in White Christmas, and it just sounds so good. I can't wait for them to come to Denmark again - They're even better when you're actually there listening to them. Thanks for another great reaction. You're my favorite reactors, and I hope hope hope you'll react to "Lil' Red Riding Hood' (Home Free live). I know I keep bugging you about it, but it's worth it...
Thanks for the reaction! Home Free is absolutely unbelievable live! If they come your way you should definitely go see them. Feeling the bass is so much better live! Love Home Free! Love you guys for awesome reactions!
I don't know where you guys are from, but please try to see them live. It is unbelievable how good they sound live. There is just no way to describe it, especially if you have seats in the first few rows. They are right there and it is mind blowing. Please attempt to see them live !!!
Thay have only used the looper for 2 songs ever that I know of live, and it's This song and "Castle on the Hill", because there is a lot going on in them. Chance making the mouth harp sound, said that it hurts his throat, so I doubt he could do that all of the song, but it is awesome and I saw it live in March and Adam was very close to where I sat and My mouth was hanging open because it was all him and it sounded so awesome!
ScaryMary Sunshine I saw them do this song live earlier this month...VERY impressive! Their talents are, well, impressive as it is. Yes, its both Adam and Austin doing harmonica sound!!!
I think they used the looper for Chance's overtoning (so he could sing), the vocal vamp (so whoever does that could sing harmonies), and percussion (so Adam could do the harmonica). This arrangement is so heavily layered with ear-candy that there's no way they could perform it live without drastically changing it. So the looper is absolutely necessary in this arrangement so they can perform it live. The same is true with Castle on the Hill which they also use a looper for their live performances. One could argue that they shouldn't do arrangements that are this heavily layered - but it's so freakin' awesome that I'm cool with it. It's still their voices performed live.
Oh, I would LOVE you to see this same song, Constant sorrow, sung by Sawyer Fredricks in the Voice. He was 15 then, I think and he slayed that performance!
You guys scared me at first because of your comments and expression, I didn't think you were open to Home Free's Acappella style. Then I watched you as they came alive -- even you were awed. That's just who they are - AWESOME! Thanks for the reaction.
I don't really like the looping thing either, however, it does allow them to sing other parts.. One thing I do like, when they do the looper, they have the guys sing the part on stage live... They also explain before they use it what the looper is and what it does.. Personally, I never liked this song.. Until... Home Free did it.. Now it is alright because of how they perform it.. Thanks for your reaction to Home Free.
They also used the loop petal for Adam’s beatboxing so he could do the harmonica. So it’s not for harmony, it’s for sound effects, which is fine in my book.
Adam "plays" the harmonica in their version of White Christmas also. It surprised me that Austin could also when this was put up on line. These guys are good! Thanks again. ^_^
Karen G - I think Tim does it on the album, but Adam does it in the shows, doesn't he? Of course, in the shows, I think Tim, Austin, & Rob starts the song together with the harmonica, then Adam takes over for the rest. I could be mistaken.
They show Adam doing the harmonica in the video. I believe Tim, Rob, Austin and possibly Chance start it live? Now I'm going to have to watch both the video and live again just to figure it out for myself. That's going to be a real hardship... HAHA! What fun! ^_^
VJ: You're right. Tim did it in the studio recording. They mentioned it in one of those track-by-track videos. (Pity they don't seem to be doing those anymore.)
Yes, they just looped Chance's doing the Jew's harp. Yes, the harmonica was Adam Rupp live. Amazing isn't it? The guys have said that Adam is always practicing. I can't tell you how happy I am you did this one live.
Loved just watching your faces on this reaction! Their entire concert is like this:. You sit there in amazement, wondering "how can they DO that?". Yes, there are funny and engaging parts, but mostly just this caliber of performance. Seeing them LIVE is mind-blowing!!!
Thanks for another great reaction! So glad you're doing their live performances now! I think their songs live are even better then their videos! Adam and Austin with the harmonica sounds is absolutely awesome!
After I watched this video, I was going to recommend it as well. I had read or heard in an interview where they really wanted to add the looping machine. So when I saw this, I wanted to see how it would affect the overall performance and I agree it wasn't too much, just really to free up Adam to do even more. I didn't think I would find another arrangement of this song that I would enjoy, but then again it is Home Free.
I LOVE WATCHING YOUR REACTIONS. THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE TIMELESS CD. I LOVE THAT YOU ENJOYED THIS LIVE VERSION, WHICH IS SO OVER THE TOP THAT IT GIVES ME CHILLS. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
I really like your reaction videos for Hime Free...I think you guys are the best that I’ve seen, though this is the first time I’ve commented. And I agree with Peter Hollins comment about the great production quality of your videos. But what I love about this reaction is that Ali is just so happy and smiling and has so much to say that he almost can’t get the words out. It’s kind of like a role reversal with Marco! I would really like to see you react to “What We Ain’t Got”. It’s an older video...Chris was still in the group. It’s a more serious song than many of theirs but the video is so perfect for the song and rather haunting. I think it’s actually my favorite.
I KNEW YOU WOULD LOVE IT!!!!! Ever time you react to a new one, you say 'this is my favorite!!'. I love ya'll! Isn't this thing GREAT! And it took me so many times watching before I could really believe there was NO harmonica or train!!! They used the looper so they could reprise the recording. BTW I bet riding in a tour bus with Adam must be Maddening!!!! :)
Great reaction! I knew y'all would love this one! This is from the movie "How Great Thou Art", where George Clooney sings it. I love the way the guys do it tho!!!
Actually, even though it has been re-popularized by the film, it dates back to at least 1913, and was first recorded in the late 1920s. A great traditional folk song!
As other reactors have pointed out, Adam Rupp is not human. His ability to just make sounds, and produce crazy beats. He didn't have an actual harmonica but he sure as hell played one. Wow.
Great reaction! Just like OUR LIVE REACTIONS at their Durham, NC concert later in March! HF is awesome in studio BUT they are BEYOND WORDS in LIVE CONCERT!
They used the looper not only for Chances' "harp" but also for Austin's "daa daa doo" so he could sing the rest of his parts. That was sooo cool seeing the duet of "harmonica's. They never cease to amaze me. They are still trying to figure out the perfect way to get this to video. Love it when the AhhHa moment came over you Marco!!! LOL Love you guys! Thanks!
Hmm, Interesting point I didn't even fathom. I had always thought the "daa daa doo" was done by Rob. It just sounds like his voice to me. Especially the hum with it at the beginning. Totally said Rob to me, but now I can see also that it could possibly be Austin. It's gotta be one of the two right?
Without the looper Adam couldn't do the harmonica. So you basically have Adam's drum riff, Chance's over-toning, and then there may have been that vocal vamp put in the looper too. It's such a layered piece that the looper is necessary if they want to do it live. They do Castle on the Hill live with the looper too. IT's awesome!
Loved your reactions! When that song was named for the album (patrons got the list before it was actually released), I went to listen to the songs on which they were based. It was hard to find this one, but this clip had been posted: ua-cam.com/video/meCZ5hWNRFU/v-deo.html I liked it a lot, but was wondering how in the world Home Free was going to do it, especially if they did it live. I fell in love with the audio on the album, but when I started seeing the live performances, I was really awed. I had already seen how they used the looper on Castle on the Hill, and kind of figured it would get used for this one, too. What blew me away, was when Austin went over and joined Adam with the "harmonicas." WOW!!! Regarding the a cappella thing...the reason they call themselves a "vocal band," is because they don't strictly conform to a cappella "rules." One of the reasons they can get such a full sound, is because they DO come up with instrumental-ish sounds, but not using anything but the human anatomy. Even just having a beatboxer goes away from the traditional a cappella form, so...yeah...using the looper right then and there, to make the human sound and just play it back...if they'd been doing it in the studio, they probably would have just recorded the track and then added it in to the rest...same same, and when you're sitting in the audience and that song (and Castle on the Hill) is sung, it's nothing but WOW!!! We got to see them on May 11, and they did both of those songs, and they were utterly, stupendously awesome! You should have heard the crowd go nuts after each one! My 10-year-old grandson (who aspires to both sing and beatbox like them) kept saying, "How do they DO that?!" I can attest to the fact that they sound even BETTER, live, than in any of the recorded live videos. Sure, there were a few little "off" notes or words here and there that I caught, but both my daughter and I had secretly been going in thinking, "I wonder if they really DO sound that good live, or...?" They DO! They DO! I guarantee it!
>Austin said (since they began as soul/pop): "Who'd have thought *COUNTRY-PELLA* would sell out arenas & travel world-wide" (& have global fans & 5 Billboard Country Albums: #2, #2, #4, #8, #12, despite still some a cappella "stigma" in country radio)!?!...Us fans!! Cuz they're incredible!!⤵ >PLZ REACT to their AMAAZING live: *9 TO 5- BEATBOXING BREAKDOWN* ((BIIIIG SURORISE)!! *U WL❤!!* ....😍
Just saw on Patreon that Home Free is heading to Europe this summer. They will be announcing cities and dates soon. Hope you get to see them. They let you film so do us a video of your experience if you get to go. Good luck!
They have promised to announce the Euro dates several times already (in September 2017, in early March 2018), so we Euro Fries are already skeptical about these 'coming soon' announcements.
Guten Abend, die Herren! (Google translator) :*))I had no idea there was such a thing as reaction videos until I stumbled on yours, so I checked out a few others and found them to be so over the top trying to be dramatic and all-knowing, which was quite annoying. For what it's worth, I think you both are quite genuine, honest and kind. I am a huge fan of Home Free, so not only do I get to watch them again as you are watching them, I love to see how much you like them too. You both seem to know a lot about music and I'm not clear as to whether that is your profession, but hearing Marco sing certainly leads me in that direction. Now, I'm just waiting for Ali to show us his pipes. In all seriousness you are both a lot of fun to watch even when you're speechless after hearing Tim sing again :*))
Have you guys heard the song by the original artists? As much as I love their version please listen to Alison Krauss & Union Station's Dan Timinski, the original (with instruments of course) This is perfection, lol, guess I'm spoiled all the way around! Thanks for the reaction!
ok, I know you said you weren't going to do any older home free videos, but if you want another good live vid, go to Home free Little red riding hood. it'll say with a neat introduction. it is them at a patreon party and it is almost as good as colder memory lapse. in fact, watch the whole Patreon party video. Just to much good stuff there, even if you don't react to the whole thing. spoiler sort of. they've been having audience members bringing them drinks all night.
Did you see that Home Free is coming to Europe this fall? Several dates for you to make sure you SEE THEM LIVE!!!! Nothing can compare to a live show! Then you will know FOR SURE that what you see in the video is real! And to experience Tim's bass in person...........hold on to your seats!~
Ya'll -- hey -- ya'll ---hey!! Did ya'll know you are so popular now that the movie ADRIFT is now being advertised right in the middle of your reaction video!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??????? That's amazing!!! YA'LL!!! Well, for one this you have a lot of followers and for another ya'll are cuter than grits and if you don't know what that is, let me know and maybe I can send you some.
I don't get this reasoning. Do you mind mics, too? I'm asking because both mics and a looper are devices enhancing the possibilities of a human voice, which weren't used in traditional a cappella, but which are frequently used in modern a cappella (and HF does modern a cappella most of the time). Also, HF only uses the looper to do live looping, so they still have to sing every part live and Adam has to operate the looper live as well. Beside that, HF uses the looper in only 2 live performances (MOCS and COTH), everything else they do live is just their 5 voices (5 parts).
Don't get me wrong. I am a HUGE Home Free fan and if it was just looping it wouldn't bother me as much. However, when they use distortion and electronically change the voice it is no longer a capella to me and I do not particularly care for it.
When do you think they used distortion? On Chance's voice? Because the guys said that Chance creates that sound himself and that that was actually one of the reasons why they decided to use the looper for this arrangement because that sound was hurting Chance's voice when he was recording it, so they wanted him to do that live as little as possible.
@Ray Raudebaugh...you said, "...when they use distortion and electronically change the voice..." So...I guess you don't like Adam's beatboxing at all, then...right? He distorts his "human voice," and uses things like his hand over his mouth, or other body motions, to change the way his voice would normally sound, plus he uses a mic, all the time. Oh, and he (shudder) has his own electronic studio stuff, which he uses to make the tracks for their studio recordings. Have you listened to his "drum solo" live performances? He does NOT use a looper, there, and STILL manages to make more than one sound at a time. He's utterly amazing. Have you ever heard the song "Norman Normal" by Peter, Paul, & Mary? Way back then (which was rather surprising), they employed the use of some "distorted" sounds...beatboxing, per se... ua-cam.com/video/lZ3X_ExZWvY/v-deo.html You might like to read more about how a cappella music began, and how it has progressed, here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_cappella
Look, I am a HUGE fan of Home Free. I have listen to and loved nearly everything they have done. I just do not happen to like this particular performance so please stop with the "hate mail".
Adam is just not human - the sounds that come out of him! Seriously, seeing them live was one of the best concerts I've seen in my life - and I've seen many. Thanks so much guys, love you both
I agree, their concert was fantastic!

Gemstone Walkin' Horses Yes Lil’ Red Riding Hood would be Awesome!!!
This was one of the best uses of Austin's accent. His voice is so suited to this song, and I'm very glad he took the lead for most of this song.
Thanks for the reaction! Home Free is absolutely unbelievable live! If they come your way you should definitely go see them. Feeling the bass is so much better live! Love Home Free! Love you guys for awesome reactions!

Oh, I would LOVE you to see this same song, Constant sorrow, sung by Sawyer Fredricks in the Voice. He was 15 then, I think and he slayed that performance!
I said he would win as soon as I heard that.
I watched him as soon as I read your comment, I guess I was used to hearing Austin sing it I just could not like it.
I have been waiting and hoping you would react to this! Thank you!!
Love me some Home Free. And you guys too
Have you ever listened to them with Kenny Rogers in "Children Go Where I Send Thee"?
Yes, and they did a great job!
Watching Home Free making you guys happy makes me happy! Great reaction guys Thanks!
You guys scared me at first because of your comments and expression, I didn't think you were open to Home Free's Acappella style. Then I watched you as they came alive -- even you were awed. That's just who they are - AWESOME! Thanks for the reaction.
Thank you. Happy. That’s exactly how I feel when I listen to them. My face hurts from smiling so much.

Greensleeves from Peter Hollens and Tim Foust please. Another live performance is 9-5.
Adam "plays" the harmonica in their version of White Christmas also. It surprised me that Austin could also when this was put up on line. These guys are good! Thanks again. ^_^
I know Tim can do it, too. It was shown in another video but I don't remember which one.

Monika S- Thinkin Out Loud/Lets Get It On
You should watch "9 to 5" beatboxing breakdown live - Rob's the lead here
They are amazing live. I’ll keep going to every show as they come to my area.
Their version reminds me of riding an old train with that mournful whistle and the cars going umpa-umpa-do.
Yes, they just looped Chance's doing the Jew's harp. Yes, the harmonica was Adam Rupp live. Amazing isn't it? The guys have said that Adam is always practicing. I can't tell you how happy I am you did this one live.
I understand that a big reason for looping the juice harp is because it's hard on Chance's voice to do it for a prolonged time.
true Chance talked about that in one of their VIP's
Loved just watching your faces on this reaction! Their entire concert is like this:. You sit there in amazement, wondering "how can they DO that?". Yes, there are funny and engaging parts, but mostly just this caliber of performance. Seeing them LIVE is mind-blowing!!!
Thanks for another great reaction! So glad you're doing their live performances now! I think their songs live are even better then their videos! Adam and Austin with the harmonica sounds is absolutely awesome!
Thanks Love your reaction and Love them Live for all their music is this good! 😍❤️💕✌🏻💕
You guys have the same reaction I did😄 I’ve listened over and over and can’t stop smiling! They just get better and better!
I love how every video becomes your favorite Home Free video, it's just like when I watch them!
I LOVE WATCHING YOUR REACTIONS. THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE TIMELESS CD. I LOVE THAT YOU ENJOYED THIS LIVE VERSION, WHICH IS SO OVER THE TOP THAT IT GIVES ME CHILLS. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
I love when you always say : this is my favourite of Home Free, till the next video :-)
Saw them in person and they are amazing.

Monika S. - LOL!! Yeah! That's the one!! 😜
Actually, even though it has been re-popularized by the film, it dates back to at least 1913, and was first recorded in the late 1920s. A great traditional folk song!
Kathy Astrom: But HF's arrangement was inspired by the arrangement that was specifically created for the movie.
I agree, I am always inspired and happy after I watch HF's videos.
I have seen them in concert twice. If it is possible, they sound even better live!
I just found out they will be in Germany in September. Hamburg, Munich and Berlin.
Check their new video announcement about it, they just posted it today guys. They will be in Cologne also.
The louper was used for adam chance and adam rupps drums.
They’re working on European dates for tour - I really hope you can see them live. They will truly blow you away!
Home Free announced today that they will be touring Europe at the end of August into September! Now's your chance to see them live gentlemen!
As other reactors have pointed out, Adam Rupp is not human. His ability to just make sounds, and produce crazy beats. He didn't have an actual harmonica but he sure as hell played one. Wow.
Great job, guys! Yes, they are awesome.:-)
Great reaction! Just like OUR LIVE REACTIONS at their Durham, NC concert later in March! HF is awesome in studio BUT they are BEYOND WORDS in LIVE CONCERT!
HF has a brand new video out for this!!!
The looper was used for 2 reasons: 1. It freed Chance up to do harmony, and 2. Chance says it hurts his voice to make the jaw harp sound.
Rob is doing the hum behind Austin's daa daa doo....
Working together, that's awesome! Thanks.
Yaaaay!
My granddauaghter says "THAT WAS AWESOME!"
Thx for the reaction!
You guys have to go see them in Sept when they’re in Germany for 3 shows.
I'm not sure where you guys are located, but I just heard Home Free will be in Munich in September!
BROOO 5:50 that sounds exactly like Granny’s laugh 😂😂
You should react to one of their 9 to 5 live performances. Amazing !!!
omg that was awesome
Adam, the beat boxer, is a sick beast.
You need to react to them doing 9 to 5 live it's AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Loved your reactions! When that song was named for the album (patrons got the list before it was actually released), I went to listen to the songs on which they were based. It was hard to find this one, but this clip had been posted:

I liked it a lot, but was wondering how in the world Home Free was going to do it, especially if they did it live.
You might want to view Kenny Rogers and Home Free, "Children Where Shall I Send Thee" You will be blown away!
Cuz they're incredible!!⤵
>PLZ REACT to their AMAAZING live:
*9 TO 5- BEATBOXING BREAKDOWN*
((BIIIIG SURORISE)!! *U WL❤!!* ....😍
Just saw on Patreon that Home Free is heading to Europe this summer. They will be announcing cities and dates soon. Hope you get to see them. They let you film so do us a video of your experience if you get to go. Good luck!
Rob Thornton I second that! I can just imagine Marco and Ali in the audience. 😂
Marco - the official video for this song just dropped today on UA-cam -- you need to check it out!!!
Have you guys heard the song by the original artists? As much as I love their version please listen to Alison Krauss & Union Station's Dan Timinski, the original (with instruments of course) This is perfection, lol, guess I'm spoiled all the way around! Thanks for the reaction!
Where are ya'll from? For some reason I never have been able to figure it out, but I bet it ain't Sao Paulo or West Coast California!!
ok, I know you said you weren't going to do any older home free videos, but if you want another good live vid, go to Home free Little red riding hood. it'll say with a neat introduction. it is them at a patreon party and it is almost as good as colder memory lapse. in fact, watch the whole Patreon party video. Just to much good stuff there, even if you don't react to the whole thing.
spoiler sort of. they've been having audience members bringing them drinks all night.
ua-cam.com/video/-ew_bfFvros/v-deo.html for their video for this song
React to The Heaven Cover By Home Free Pleassssee!!! Like so they can see
It's a harmonica or mouth harp
Unique! harmonica! sang it! plz react to BTS "Fake Love" thank you. Have a nice day!
Please please please react to the new HF video that just dropped today ☺️? *Good Ol Boy Good Time* I think it will make you smile lots.
And it's live, not studio -- wowwww!
There's other good a cappella groups, but none as versatile as these guys.
I'll do as you both ask... I'll stop looking at you and go elsewhere... giving you a thumbs down as I leave.
Worst possible version to react to. It sounds muddled... why not use the video of the song?
I don't care for the looping either. To me when they do that they are no longer a capella.

Look, I am a HUGE fan of Home Free. I have listen to and loved nearly everything they have done. I just do not happen to like this particular performance so please stop with the "hate mail".
wtf was that ... not a good song cover at all .. yikes
